NWA Hybrid Pro TV 29/11/2013 : The Hybrid Tournament Finale!
Magnus D is out to start the show, still in his wheelchair of course and accompanied by his security force. I expect he has lots to say.
Magnus: Ah, tournament finals time. 8 men do battle and anyone could win. Well except for you Paul London, your not winning anything tonight. I'm not a man to throw away money however, and Daniel Bryan I respect your wishes. A stipulation has been assigned to your match with Mr London, that being that anyone who interferes in this matchup in any way will be fire from Hybrid pro immediately. However, you didn't say anything about before the match.
We cut backstage to where PAUL LONDON IS LYING UNCONSCIOUS ON THE GROUND! Officials rush in to help him, as it becomes clear that Magnus' security force is responsible for this heinous attack. The fans don't like this one bit.
"Haha, thats what you get Paul, good luck beating Daniel Bryan in that condition. But lets move on to something more important shall we. Now I've mention that there is to be another title shot up for grabs, and both Kyle O'Reilly and Chuck Taylor are to be involved in the matchup. However this is to be a very special match: A 4 way, 30 minute ironman match! Two more competitors need to be found for this matchup however, the first is going to be the runner up in tonight's tournament final. The final competitor will be the winner of a battle royal here tonight between all the rest of the tournament competitors, including those who lose out in the quarter and semi finals. Except you Paul London, your banned from this match whether you lose to Daniel Bryan or to someone else. Thank you for your time, enjoy the show."
Magnus leaves to a chorus of boos, as the owner once again abuses his authority. But I do like the idea of the 4 way Ironman match, its sure to be a lot of fun.
Sami Zayn vs Samuray Del Sol
What an opening matchup, this was a death defying high flying style matchup, one that brought the hot crowd to its feet time and time again. Zayn was as spectacular as he always is, taking a lot of risks, yet Del Sol showed something special in this one and stepped his game up to a whole new level, he looked arguably even better than Zayn did and thats quite an achievement. Indeed had it not been for a fortunate rope break, a picture perfect 450 by Del Sol may have won him this match. However, Zayn was the one to advance on the night, after a beautiful Springboard Tornado DDT got him the 3 count.
Winner- Sami Zayn
Post match Zayn and Del shook hands and embraced, with Zayn calling Del Sol "the future of Hybrid Pro".
Samoa Joe vs Antonio Cesaro
An entirely different matchup to our opener, this one was two big guys just beating the hell out of each other from bell to bell, and they were quite well matched. When it came to strikes, Joe's big kicks and forearms were cancelled out by Cesaro's destructive uppercuts, and they were also dead even on the mat and indeed in a fight. It all came down to luck in the end, as after having success with a Top Rope Uppercut early in the match Cesaro decided to try it again, only to get cut off by Joe before he could even hit the move. Joe got him in position and dropped him with the Muscle Buster, which Cesaro couldn't kick out of.
Winner- Samoa Joe
Sami Zayn did well to get this far, but in Samoa Joe he may very well have met his match. Still, what a match its going to be.
Johnny Gargano vs Bray Wyatt
While all the quarter finals looked great on paper, this one to me was the most intriguing, as we have a battle of former Group members. The two exchanged a tentative handshake pre-match, which Wyatt ended with a right hand to Gargano's face and a smile. Wyatt controlled the match for large portions, to me a surprise as I expected this to be a much more even affair, yet Gargano hung on in there and never gave up. Wyatt went for his big Splash Mountain in the corner to setup for the Sister Abigail, but Gargano avoided it and turned the tables. A courageous fightback later and Gargano looked to have the match in the bag, but couldn't setup Wyatt for the Hurts Donut. Wyatt once again went for the Splash Mountain, managing to hit it this time before looking for the Sister Abigail. Gargano with his last bit of energy however blocked it and nailed the Hurts Donut, flopping over Wyatt to advance.
Winner- Johnny Gargano
Daniel Bryan makes his way out, a concerned look on his face as he doesn't acknowledge the "YES" chants. Instead it is announced that Paul London is not able to compete tonight due to the earlier attack, and will now be counted out. But as the referee reaches the 5 count, PAUL LONDON MAKES HIS WAY OUT! Bryan looks really concerned but London battles his way past officials and into the ring before the 10 count, assuring everyone thats he's OK to compete and that the match starts right now! The match has officially begun so nothing can really be done to stop London from getting his request, so here we go.
Paul London vs Daniel Bryan
Bryan has a heart but he's also a competitor, and wants to be the World Heavyweight Champion, so was ruthless in going after London and trying to win this one. He dominated, with London barely getting in an offensive move, with Bryan begging with London to give it up as London dared Bryan to try and keep him down. And yet Bryan, for all of his skill, could not get the job done, he locked the Yes Lock and London made the ropes, he had the Headbutt from the top and London kicked out and even the Running Knee to the face couldn't get the 3 count. All the while the fans chanted "Please Don't Die" towards London, a chant we haven't heard in a long time and yet one that London could risk if he doesn't give it up. Bryan's frustration began to show, and he went up top for one last Diving Headbutt. But London somehow moved out of the way, KICKS UP to his feet and climbs to the top. LONDONS CALLING! 1-2-3, LONDON WINS IT! Bryan dominated and yet somehow lost this, I'm genuinely lost for words right now.
Winner- Paul London
This means Johnny Gargano and Paul London will do battle in the final semi final, and Bryan cannot believe it. London has to be helped to the back but not bfore a handshake and a raised arm from Bryan. Could London somehow still do this despite all the odds being stacked against him?
Magnus D is shown backstage pretty much losing his shit at the result, throwing a potplant and a stapler across the room from his desk. One of Magnus's security guards asks whether he should go finish off London now, but Magnus cools down, smiles and says "There's no need, we'll deal with this problem later." before laughing away to himself.
Sami Zayn vs Samoa Joe
Many people going into this wouldn't have given Zayn a hope in hell, but Zayn showed something special in this contest, he proved that on his day he is a match for someone as world class as Joe is as a performer. Thats not to say he didn't take one hell of a beating, he was destroyed by Joe's strikes and power, and locked in some vicious submission holds in the process, but he has heart beyond his size and refused to stay down. Indeed there were actually points where Zayn looked like he would pull off the victory of his career, he somehow managed to nail a Brainbuster than got a near fall, and then a Springboard Tornado DDT brought about as close a near fall as you could possibly get. Finally Zayn took one risk too many, getting caught in the same fashion that Antonio Cesaro did earlier when on the top rope, leading to a Muscle Buster than finally put Zayn out for the count. Zayn may have lost, but he won a lot of support from the fans.
Winner- Samoa Joe
Post match Joe shook Zayn's hand and raised his arm, as the fans chanted for both men. Zayn may be the breakout star of the entire tournament, he's shown he can hang with the best in the world and beat a man who just last month was our NWA World Champion in Kyle Matthews.
Johnny Gargano vs Paul London
London struggled his way to the ring, but again looked like a beaten man, it was absolutely stunning that he pulled off the win over the current World Junior Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, but now he had to face a former World Junior champ in Johnny Gargano who slowly but surely has advanced this far. Gargano dominated in a similar fashion to that of Daniel Bryan, but once again London would just not stay down, it was like you'd have to kill him to keep him on the canvas and the fans responded, chanting "Please Don't Die" once again. And indeed London somehow fought back, escaping a Hurts Donut attempt and hitting a beautiful Hurricanrana, giving the fans hope that maybe, just maybe, London could make it through. Then the ref took a fall, and I'm pretty sure you can guess what happened next. Magnus D's two big security guards made their way out and attacked London, looking to give him a two on one beatdown. Gargano saw what was happening and the guards didn't care for him, but Gargano cared about London AND ATTACKED THE GUARDS! HURTS DONUT TO GUARD #1! HURTS DONUT TO GUARD #2! The fans are loving it and Magnus can't be pleased about this. Wait a minute, GUARD #3 RUNS OUT FROM THE CROWD! DOUBLE CHOKESLAM TO GARGANO AND LONDON! He puts Gargano on top of London and revivies the ref. 1-2-3, Gargano wins it but looks just as big a loser as London after that Chokeslam, I guess Magnus had it all planned out from the start.
Winner- Johnny Gargano
London is carried out by medical staff as security watch on, ensuring that London doesn't somehow revive himself and return for our next matchup, the battle royal featuring all losers from the previous rounds (barring Chuck Taylor and Kyle O'Reilly, who of course are already in our 4 Way Ironman match next week)
As all the competitors make their way out, one omission is notable: Daniel Bryan. We cut backstage to where Bryan is seen trying to help Paul London. Sacrificing one last shot at the World belt to help his friend in need is a pretty noble act, a shame it won't be one that will be rewarded.
Battle Royal: Antonio Cesaro, Austin Aries, Bo Dallas, Bobby Roode, Bray Wyatt, Brian Cage, Brian Kendrick, Drew Gulak, Drew McIntyre, El Gran Luchadore, Homicide, Jack Swagger, Jimmy Jacobs, Karl Anderson, Kyle Matthews, Matt Hardy, Matt Jackson, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Nick Jackson, Sami Callihan, Sami Zayn, Samuray Del Sol, Tommaso Ciampa, Tony Nese, Tyson Kid, Vordell Walker
With the increase in people, this was an even more chaotic battle royal than last time, but pretty much to the same standard. And yes you read that right, El Gran Luchadore is in this match, there's utterly no way it could be who we think it could be so who is under that mask? It should also be noted that Drew McIntyre got a massive ovation from the fans, the man has never lost the respect of the New Jersey fans after his bloody battle with Alberto Del Rio many months ago for the World title and looked like a star with a point to prove. Elimination to the final four went as follows-
Vordell Walker and Kyle Matthews by each other (the two brawled all the way over the top rope and to the backstage area)
Bo Dallas by Sami Callihan (Callihan smashed a signed photo frame of Dallas over his head and threw him out)
Matt Hardy by everybody (they teamed up to throw the fattest man in wrestling over the top)
Matt and Nick Jackson by Bray Wyatt (Wyatt reversed a double team move and threw both men over)
Bray Wyatt by everybody (everyone teamed up while Wyatt was distracted throwing The Young Bucks out to throw another big man out)
Samuray Del Sol by Karl Anderson (Anderson threw Del Sol off the top rope)
Brian Kendrick by Sami Zayn (Zayn nailed a Big Boot to Kendrick in the corner before tossing him out)
Drew Gulak by Drew McIntyre (McIntyre dumped Gulak over the top with sheer power)
Matt Taven by Brian Cage (Cage sneak attacked Taven and tossed him out while he was distracted)
Tyson Kidd by Homicide (Homicide sent Kidd over with a Lariat)
Homicide by Drew McIntyre (McIntyre threw out Homicide straight after he eliminated Kidd)
Jimmy Jacobs by Jack Swagger (Swagger Doctor Bombed Jacobs over the top rope in one of the sickest spots of the night)
Tony Nese by Antonio Cesaro (Nese took another of the sickest spots of the night when Cesaro Giant Swinged him over the top to the floor)
Tommaso Ciampa by Bobby Roode (a basic elimination by Roode tossing Ciampa out)
Mike Bennett by Drw McIntyre (Bennett was Clotheslined out for McIntyre's 3rd elimination of the match!)
Sami Zayn by El Gran Luchadore (Luchadore stunned Zayn with a Dropkick sending him over and out)
Austin Aries by Bobby Roode and Drew McIntyre (Roode and McIntyre teamed up to hit a Double Clothesline on Aries over the top)
Bobby Roode and Drew McIntyre by Brian Cage (Cage stunned both men with his own Double Clothesline to eliminate them while they argued)
Karl Anderson by Antonio Cesaro (Cesaro Uppercuted Anderson viciously before tossing him out)
Jack Swagger by El Gran Luchadore (Swagger tried to Clothesline Luchadore out but Luchadore moved and Swagger's momentum carried him out.
So our final four are Antonio Cesaro, Brian Cage, Sami Callihan and amazing El Gran Luchadore is still there. Cesaro and Cage had a power battle while Callihan and Luchadore did battle. And shockingly, Callihan went out next, with Luchadore backdropping him out. At the same time, Cage eliminated Cesaro with another vicious Clothesline, leaving just Cage and Luchadore in. Cage made the same mistake Jack Swagger did, going for a charge on Luchadore who simply pulled the top rope down and allowed Cage's momentum to send him over the top to eliminate him and win the matchup!
Winner- El Gran Luchadore
Magnus D is wheeled out onto the ramp in a hurry as El Gran Luchadore celebrates.
Magnus: NO NO NO! Paul London you aren't fooling anybody, I said that you weren't competing in this battle royal and yet you put on that ridiculous mask again to go against my orders. Take that mask off right now and show these people that it was you before I fire you for breach of contract!
El Gran Luchadore complies and takes off his mask to reveal.....DANIEL BRYAN! Magnus looks very confused by this as Bryan starts the "YES YES YES" chants. Magnus shrugs and has his guard wheel him out as Bryan celebrates, the question is why was he under the El Gran Luchadore mask? Was it some tribute to Paul London or was there another purpose to this rather bizarre act? Personally I was hoping we'd seen the last of El Gran Luchadore when The Prophecy died but it looks like he's back once again.
Its time for the tournament final! We've caught up with both men for their pre-match thoughts
Joe: So its all come to this. I had a feeling Johnny that you and I would cross path again as opponents. After all we both went the same way when The Group split, we both wanted the same thing, and now we both do battle for that very prize we crave. You were a great ally and friend Johnny, and we've done great things together in that ring, but tonight I'm not holding anything back. Everybody knows that its my ultimate goal to be NWA World Heavyweight Champion once again, and Samoa Joe always achieves what he sets out to do. Because I am Samoa Joe, I am pro wrestling, and I will be your next NWA World Heavyweight Champion
Gargano: I've seen what you had to said Joe and I can't really add to what has been said. All I can say Joe is that tonight will be nothing personal, I need to win this tournament to justify my return to Hybrid Pro, to bring my star back to prominence after the way it was destroyed as World Junior Heavyweight Champion, and this is the way I have to do it. They say that sometimes you have to forget the past and look to the future. Well tonight I'm going to look to the past in order to make the future that little bit more bright for "The Whole Shebang".
Tournament Final
Samoa Joe vs Johnny Gargano
Well this was it, the tournament final, 32 men have battled and now only two remain. And it was a match worthy of its build-up, these two former Group members left it all in the ring and put on a great show, albeit one that would be tainted by what was a shocking ending (but one that made sense based on Mr Gargano's pre-match promo). As we came towards the end, Joe appeared to have this one in the bag, he knocked Gargano to the mat with an Enziguri, then made motions for the Muscle Buster. But before he could hit it, Chuck Taylor appeared on the ramp. He walked down the ramp, distracting Joe and the referee as confusion runs. With the ref distracted by Taylor KYLE O'REILLY LEAPS FROM THE CROWD AND NAILS JOE WITH A KICK TO THE SKULL! Gargano takes full advantage, HURTS DONUT! 1-2-3, GARGANO WINS IT!
Winner- Johnny Gargano
Gargano celebrates and lifts the trophy aloft as O'Reilly and Taylor applaud, but what does this mean. The crowd seem to know as the show comes to an end with a single word being chanted: "REVOLUTION!" "REVOLUTION!" "REVOLUTION!"
Magnus D is out to start the show, still in his wheelchair of course and accompanied by his security force. I expect he has lots to say.

Gargano celebrates and lifts the trophy aloft as O'Reilly and Taylor applaud, but what does this mean. The crowd seem to know as the show comes to an end with a single word being chanted: "REVOLUTION!" "REVOLUTION!" "REVOLUTION!"
