Before you read this show, I want to warn you, what I'm going to say is something that some may find hurtful, but I've had a lot of worries about the way things are going here recently and I wanted to bring them out into the open. If you only read one thing on this show read what I have to say, and I hope that this sparks the discussion that I feel needs to happen.
NWA Hybrid Pro TV 06/11/2013
Johnny Gargano, Chuck Taylor and Kyle O'Reilly make their way out to a deafening ovation from the fans, and they are met with big "Revolution" chants as they enter the ring. They soak it all in for a bit before Gargano takes the mic.
Gargano: "First of all, I want to make one thing clear: this is not The Revolution of old. This isn't some nostalgia trip or attempt to rekindle our past glories. No, our reunion fall towards one clear goal, one which I will explain in due course.
I want to apologise first of all to you Samoa Joe. I'm sorry that things couldn't have gone differently last week. It was nothing personal, but I had to make this statement, to rekindle my star and try and bring some life back into this tired organisation, and I will give you a clean rematch anytime, anyplace. The NWA is closer to death now than it ever was when The Prophecy was here thanks to member promotions dropping like flies, NWA World belts not being defended and a completely lax attitude to show quotas and rules. And it seems like the Board of Directors don't even care, no new promotions are popping up and opinions are being ignored. Well THE REVOLUTION CARES! We live and breath the NWA, its what made us stars in somebody's eyes, and we are going to breathe life into it once again!
But this isn't why we got back together. No, our main reason for reforming is because ever since we broke up, another faction has been riding the waves of what we were, using our ideas to try and make themselves stars. And has it worked? Has it hell, I still don't know who half of them are and they hold our North American Tag Team Title belts. I'm sure you know who I'm talking about by now, yes its YOU Pistols! Matt Taven, you thought you could get away with ripping off our gimmick. Your lucky that I've been pre-occupied for so long, because had it not been for Kyle Matthews and his Prophecy, I would have punched your lights out a long time ago. Your as big a scumbag as Pinkie Sanchez to me, a talentless hack using others talent and fame like he tried to use ours in The Revolution to boost his own persona and ego.
Maybe your laughing and saying that we are only three men while there are six of you. Well I've already signed three new members, all men who are dangerous enough to take you out with a thought, and all men who compared to you Pistols truly fit the term "hot prospects". First of all, a man who for too dam long has been overlooked by the NWA, his talent is undeniable and he's been on the cusp of greatness for a long time. He is a hero in New Jersey for his battles with Alberto Del Rio, he is Drew McIntyre!"
McIntyre makes his way out to a massive ovation, Gargano couldn't have picked a more beloved figure for his first new member.
"Secondly, I need a dangerous man to match wits with the only man in your faction who troubles me. Much like Sami Callihan, he's a former member of TOXIC, a group I resent being a part of. But this man doesn't, he just want to hurt some people. He is the sickest son of a bitch I know, Jimmy Jacobs!"
Jacobs makes his way out, spike in his mouth with a crazed look on his face. The crowd are more uneasy about this choice but its a fine signing for sure.
"And finally, I signed a man who's treatment by you Pistols played a big part in my decision to reform The Revolution. He's a man with almost unlimited potential who in my opinion was not given the respect he deserved for his role in your group's success. He could very well be the hottest prospect in all of professional wrestling, he is BRIAN CAGE!"
Cage made his way out to a mixed reaction, but notably a lot more cheers than boos.
"Together, we six are united under one banner, our sole aim is to crush The Pistols and secure our legacy as the greatest group of talent in NWA history. And Christopher Daniels, you name the time and place and Johnny Gargano will come and take your belt!"
Massive words by Gargano and The Revolution, they are back in a big way and look to be a real force. The Pistols aren't here tonight, but will address The Revolution next week on Hybrid Pro TV!
Vordell Walker vs Matt Hardy
A decent match here but hardly spectacular, but I put that down to Fatt Hardy who was blown up within the first 30 seconds and looked a shadow of the performer he used to be. It ended up being largely a showcase for Walker, who finished Hardy off with the Juji-Gatame to make him tap.
Winner- Vordell Walker
Post match Walker takes the mic.
Walker: Kyle Matthews, I just got word from Alberto Del Rio that he will come down here and face you and Jack Swagger anytime you so wish. So I have a proposition for you. Next week on Hybrid Pro TV it'll be you two taking on me and Alberto Del Rio. If you win, we will admit that you are the better men and don't deserve another chance to face you in singles competition. But if we win, you have to grant me and Alberto Del Rio one more match against you in a stipulation match of our choosing anytime we so wish. Do you accept?
Walker wait for an answer, ONLY TO BE ATTACKED FROM BEHIND BY KYLE MATTHEWS AND JACK SWAGGER! Matthews locks Walker's bad shoulder in the Hidaka Lock as Walker screams in agony, while Swagger gets Matthews' prized steel chair. Swagger smacks Walker with the chair several times as Matthews continue to keep the hold locked in. Matthews releases and gets the mic.
Matthews: Consider your challenge accepted, The Hybrid Athletes will destroy you and show why we are the most hybrid team in NWA History!
Six Man Mayhem
Antonio Cesaro vs Bobby Roode vs Brian Kendrick vs Karl Anderson vs Sami Zayn vs Tyson Kidd
The winner of this gets a shot at the Hybrid pro Champion Sami Callihan next week on Hybrid Pro TV. And it was a chaotic match, as Six Man Mayhem matches usually are, with all six looking impressive and giving a good account of themselves. It would however be Zayn who picked up a massive victory, continuing his rise as he pinned former champ Anderson after a Springboard Tornado DDT!
Winner- Sami Zayn
This means Sami Zayn takes on Sami Callihan for the Heavyweight Title next week on Hybrid Pro TV!
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match
The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs C&C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander)
Largely a showcase for The Young Bucks, who didn't fare that well in the Hybrid Tournament as singles competitors, but did much better as a team and showed why they are our Tag Team Champions. C&C gave a good account of themselves however, they impressed with their crisp high flying and double team moves. But after More bang For Your Buck they were out for the count.
Winners- The Young Bucks
Post match The Young Bucks said that they are bored and want some new challengers, so they issue a challenge to any team in the NWA to come face them next week. Will the challenge be accepted?
NWA Hybrid Pro TV Title Match
Austin Aries vs Drew Gulak
Gulak holds a pinfall victory over Austin Aries in a four way matchup several weeks ago, and earned a title match based upon that. Aries has been a solid TV champion, bringing some prestige to the title, and showed all of his experience by controlling good portions of this match with tremendous matwork. Gulak however is hungry for success, he took Kyle Matthews to the limit in the Hybrid Tournament and is a star on the rise, and his combination of utterly ruthless aggression and determination made him a real force. And to the shock of many, Gulak made Aries tap in the middle of the ring to the Gu-Lock to become our new champion. A star is born!
Winner- NEW Hybrid pro TV Champion, Drew Gulak
Post match Aries applauds and raises Gulak's hand in victory, before leaving as Gulak celebrates with the belt
Magnus D makes his way out to the ring surrounded by his security force. He is obviously still wheelchair bound, but takes the mic.
Magnus: "Maybe you think I'm out here to rant about Paul London some more, well your wrong, because I banned that loser from the arena and he won't be here tonight."
The fans boo, obviously they don't like that fact that London isn't here.
"No, I have far bigger fish to fry tonight. You see, a good friend of mine Howard Schilling, the promoter of NWA South Beach, has been doing something recently that I think we don't see enough of in the NWA: he has spoken his mind. And he has inspired me to do the same. But my words go far beyond that of JPP and Mexico, I'm addressing this entire alliance as a whole.
I started booking all the way back in 2004, when I was just 16 years old, and I've had an on and off love affair with professional wrestling since then. I love booking and I love this business, I'll love it until I die, but what I've seen in the NWA recently reminds me of many alliances before it. To me, right now it feels like the NWA is dying a slow and painful death.
Member promotions have been dropping like flies, I mean even a few months ago we had a lot more active promotions and this world felt busy, the way that it should do. Now we have just 6, because Southwest didn't put a show out last month and I'm not even pretending that Windy City or $5 Wrestling are coming back. My big worry is that not a thing is being done to replace those who have left. Where are the new members? Are we just going to hope that Joe or Kevin Elliot or dare I say it Salyers come back? Because we should never rely on Salyers, that man is utterly incapable of putting out regular shows and should have been banned from coming back years ago. This alliance needs new promoters with fresh ideas, or its going to die like all the others before it have.
Whats more, it feels like there's been a total lax attitude to the rules recently. I understand that this is only a hobby but the fact is that for months now there's been no effort to get members to produce their 2 shows a month. Again Southwest didn't even put out a show last month, so where is the draft? Why is Windy City still listed as an active promotion when its been dead for months? Why is it that some members aren't making an effort to say something about each others shows? And why are our World Title belts going undefended for such long periods of time? The Pistols have barely made a defence of their North American Tag Titles and Dolph Ziggler rarely gets a challenger either, heck I had to look up who the World Tag Team Champions were before this show because I've seen so little of them.
Its things like this that again make me fear that this alliance is dying. I'm not trying to say this to be critical or cruel to anyone, I'm saying this because I LOVE this game. I wouldn't have been playing it for as long as I have if I didn't. But the fact of the matter is, things have to change, and they have to change soon. Will my words have a bit of difference? Who knows, but I'm making an ultimatum. If things don't change by the time I finish what I need to with Paul London, having achieved everything that I want to in the NWA I will close down Hybrid Pro and quit this alliance for good!
Am I suggesting a solution? No, I feel thats something that all NWA members need to discussed maturely and in depth, and action then needs to be taken based upon what we find. But the discussion needs to happen. That is all I have to say, thanks for your time. "
A bombshell has just been dropped as Magnus D leaves, if the NWA doesn't change Hybrid Pro will close down forever. I don't know what to say other than lets go to our main event.
Main Event, Four Way 30 Minute Ironman Match, Winner Gets A Shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Title
Chuck Taylor vs El Gran Luchadore vs Kyle O'Reilly vs Samoa Joe
I'm not 100% certain why Daniel Bryan is still under the El Gran Luchadore mask when we all know full well its him, but if he wants to continue to pay that tribute he can. This actually played more like a tag match early on, with Taylor and O'Reilly teaming up against Joe and Luchadore, but when Joe started rallying and the thought of becoming World Champion overcame everyone, alliances broke off.
There were a total of five falls in this matchup in the end, everybody got one win, with Samoa Joe managin to avoid being pinned altogether. Luchadore scored the first fall, rolling up O'Reilly for a 3 count. Taylor then scored a fall on Luchadore following the Awful Waffle. Revolution team mates then did battle and O'Reilly made Taylor tap to the Anklelock. Joe then knocked Luchadore the hell out with a forearm strike and locked in the Choke to make him submit.
The final fall came right at the end, and to everyones surprise it went to El Gran Luchadore, but it was the manner of that fall that shocked me. Luchadore wasn't just paying a tribute to London with the gimmick, he was pulling off London's moves as well, as he went up top and hat O'Reilly with a picture perfect London's Calling to get the final fall of the match just 20 seconds before the buzzer went. Joe did almost get another fall right at the end, dropping Taylor with a Muscle Buster, but the buzzer went before the ref could count 3.
Winner- El Gran Luchadore
El Gran Luchadore celebrates his win, AND DANIEL BRYAN APPEARS ON THE RAMP APPLAUDING! Wait, what the hell, thats meant to be Bryan under the mask. So if Bryan is up there, who is playing El Gran Luchadore? Luchadore unmasks to reveal....PAUL LONDON! London has outsmarted Magnus D and earned himself a shot at Christopher Daniels!
Magnus is seen losing his shit backstage once again, as he screams he's going to go out there and fire London right now. But Magnus' lawyer David Otunga has something to say about that.
Otunga: I don't think you'll be able to do that sir.
Magnus: Why not, London's name wasn't on the contract for the title match, Daniel Bryan's was. Therefore London was in breach of contract for competing in the match.
Otunga: I'm afraid not sir, the name on the contract was El Gran Luchadore, not Daniel Bryan. El Gran Luchadore competed in the match and won it fair and square regardless of who was under the mask. Legally he is entitled to a shot at Christopher Daniels.
Magnus: Well, shit. But thats only if Mr London makes it that far, and one way or another I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen.
The show ends with Magnus laughing to himself and London celebrating in the ring. See you next week folks!
