The iPPV starts off with a nice video package, this is Battle in the Burgh 2012 and welcoming you the audience to the show is the announce team of Joey Styles and his broadcast partner Don Callis. This is a monumental event for 3 Rivers Wrestling as this marks the companies first iPPV. The events leading up to this show have been nothing short of explosive. Tonight Jay Lethal and Craig Classic who have been so evenly matched will have one more, and there must be a winner. Also tonight the grudge match that has been brewing in this company for awhile now, Eddie Edwards takes on Roderick Strong in a match that is absolutely boiling over with bad blood. The main event is a cage match for the X division title and it will pit “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles against the reigning and defending Brandon Bonham, a man who is backed with the awesome power of the embassy. But now we’re going to take it to ringside where Timothy Jefferson Petty III is about to announce the opening contest.
TAG TEAM MATCH
The BLK OUT(Alex Colon & Sabian) w/ Julius Smokes, Jessyka, Ruckus and John Cena def. Kenny Omega and Jessica Love
This was an interesting match as Kenny Omega apparently didn’t realize that his partner was in fact male, while the BLK OUT were pretty disgusted through the match as Jessica Love used this to his advantage to psych out the BLK OUT. Kenny Omega went into a rage attacking both men after Sabian nailed a sickening double stomp on Love, if Omega was the legal man he would have potentially one the match for his team, but Colon was able to throw Omega out of the ring and into the lions den as Ruckus and John Cena mauled Omega. Jessica Love was left in the ring alone as Colon planted him with a brainbuster DDT and Sabian followed up with a curb stomp to get the win.
SINGLES MATCH
“The New Horror” Sami Callihan def. Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana
There wasn’t any bad blood in this match it was just a very competitive contest for bragging rights. Callihan was super aggressive as always but Cabana was able to stay in the fight with solid wrestling, trying to keep Callihan from getting on a roll. Cabana tried a few times to hit the Colt 45 but Callihan would always find a way to wiggle free and come back swinging, throwing multiple lariats and eventually slapping on the stretch muffler, but Cabana’s leg strength was to strong allowing him to fight free from Callihan’s grasp. Callihan nailed another huge lariat on Cabana and it was enough to keep Cabana down for a three count.
TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
John Cena w/ The BLK OUT def. Luke Gallows w/ Elwood Gately & Davey Richards
The BLK OUT was a huge concern in this match, keeping both Richards and Gallows off their full game in this match. Gallows being the biggest worker on the entire 3RW used his size to try to steam roll the other two men. Richards stuck to his strong style approach peppering the other two men with vicious kicks. Davey kept trying to slap on the ankle lock on whoever he could get his hands on but kept getting nailed by the other opponent breaking the hold. Cena was able to toss Richards to the outside allowing for the BLK OUT to interfere on his behalf. Gallows was still a little dizzy from a Richards kick and ended up walking into a DVD from Cena giving the BLK OUT their second win of the night.
SINGLES MATCH
Jay Lethal def. Craig Classic
These two guys have put on a few great matches and tonight was probably the best of them all, both men knew that there must be a winner so they had to put everything they had into this contest. Classic went for the knee of Lethal from the beginning of the match, hitting a low dropkick within seconds of the match starting. Classic kept up the attack trying to soften up Lethal for the sharpshooter, but Lethal is a very talented young worker who was able to keep fighting back. Lethal showed off his submission prowess as well trying to submit the man who’s tried to get him to submit everytime they’ve locked up. Lethal got a long two count from a dragon suplex but Classic was able to kick out at the last second. Classic tried to come back but Lethal was able to score with an emerald frosion, and followed up with a huge Lethal Injection elbow drop to come away with a very hard fought win.
After the match David Marquez came out from behind the entrance curtain and announced that Jay Lethal will be facing the winner of tonight’s main event at the next iPPV for the X division title!
SINGLES MATCH
“The Messiah of the Backbreaker” Roderick Strong w/ RD Evans def. “DieHard” Eddie Edwards
RD Evans and Roderick Strong reminded Edwards that he couldn’t lay a hand on Strong until the bell sounded, but tried to goad Edwards into taking an early swing . The whole situation caused Edwards to turn his back on Strong to plead that the ref start the match, which left Edwards opened to an attack from behind from Strong as soon as the bell rang. Roderick Strong kept up the pressure laying into Edwards with his arsenal of backbreakers softening up Eddie for the Strong Hold. Edwards isn’t known as DieHard for nothing as he willed himself into the match throwing everything he has at Strong who was so bewildered by the come back that he couldn’t seem to find an answer to the fluery of offense. RD Evans was able to help out by hopping on the apron and distracting both Edwards and the ref, Strong went for a backbreaker but Edwards was able to slip free but Roderick was able to recover quickly enough to hit another variation of the backbreaker, before applying the Stronghold. Edwards wasn’t going to submit but instead passed out from the pain forcing the ref to call the match for Strong.
3RW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH
“The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. “Unbreakable” Mike Elgin© w/ Luke Gallows & Elwood Gately
This was a match pitting skill against power, with Elgin trying to just use his raw power to keep his grip on the title. Danielson had a very hard time getting anything going because Elgin was like a brick wall, AmDrag tried to hit a dropkick off the top but ended up taking a big time powerbomb. Elgin continued to press his advantage but eventually Danielson’s experience and talent was able to show through as he started putting on a clinic against the champ. Danielson kept trying to apply the LeBelle lock and even though Elgin was able to power his way out everytime you could see that it was draining his strength. Once Danielson started to see the champ weaken it tipped the match in his favor. Danielson was able to slap on the LeBelle lock in the middle of the ring and Elgin looked to be ready to tap out, but Luke Gallows rushed in and started assaulting Danielson. This gave Elgin time to regain his composure and hit a huge sitdown powerbomb as security finally made it into the ring to break up the attack.
NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
Sheamus “Fella”© def. “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce w/ C. Edward Vanderpyle
In a rematch from Starrcade, instead of going through a whole tournament these two men were both fresh and able to put on the best match possible. Sheamus had the strength advantage so Pearce used his dirty playbook to keep himself on top, if he could get away with an eye gouge or a choke he would use every opportunity to do so. Vanderpyle kept distracting the ref allowing Pearce to keep cheating to put a hurting on the champ. Eventually the ref who’s had a field day tonight with outside interference threw Vanderpyle out of the match. This was when Sheamus with the support of the crowd made his comeback throwing heavy hands and even holding Pearce in place for crossface punches before taunting to the crowd getting them to their feet, Sheamus waited for a groggy Pearce to walk into a brogue kick, which was enough to put Pearce away for a three count to retain the NWA Heavyweight title. After the match Sheamus got a guinness thrown to him in celebration.
The show cuts to a small video montage allowing for the staff to set up the ring for the main event cage match.
3RW X TITLE CAGE MATCH
“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles def. “Valhalla’s Favorite Son” Brandon Bonham©
Bonham has been dodging Styles for awhile now, but tonight there was nowhere to run as both men were locked inside the confines of the steel cage. Styles was on fire from the opening, throwing everything at the champ and getting the crowd on his side. But Bonham who’s been resourceful as the X division champion was able to comeback chop blocking the knee of Styles. Bonham kept the attack up on the knee of Styles trying to keep the high flyer grounded. Bonham was as ruthless as he’s ever been slamming and grinding the head of Styles against the cold and unforgiving steel of the cage. Styles was sporting a crimson mask as he tried to fight back, but Bonham just continued to dominate with cheap attacks. Bonham tried for the burning mljonir but Styles as able to slip out and followed up with a pele kick that evened up the match as the crowd cheered on AJ. The ref could only check to see if both men were ok as they both had to use the ropes to get back to a verticle base, once both men were back up they clashed again in the middle of the ring throwing hands at each other with Styles blocking a few and taking control throwing Bonham head first into one side of the cage then the other, getting fired up and hitting the Styles Clash but only getting a two count. Bonham was able to try to come back and almost hit a piledriver in the middle of the ring but Styles was able to hit a back body drop. AJ used a springboard backflip reverse DDT, following up with a second Styles Clash this time the crowd counted along with the ref for the three count! We have a NEW NWA 3 RIVERS X DIVISION TITLE!!
The celebration was short as Jason Hades came out, and forced the cage door open attacking Styles, nailing the new champion with the Killswitch! (A butterfly frontflip lungblower) The iPPV ended with Jason Hades standing over Styles as the show cut to black
