NWA Hybrid Pro Presents: Revolution vs Pistols Live on iPPV
Hello and welcome to Revolution vs Pistols. We are live on iPPV as we are all set to see which team is best: The Revolution or The Pistols. A series of 6 singles matchups tonight will see individual members of each faction do battle, in order to try and determine the better faction. In addition, several other scores need to be settle, most notably Paul London and The Texus's rivalry with Magnus D's Elite Security Force, who are all out trying to incapacitate London and stop him making it to his destiny: a battle for the World Heavyweight Title at Starrcade against "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels!
Revolution vs Pistols Match 1
Chuck Taylor vs Mike Bennett
A very entertaining opening contest between the two men considered the most entertaining members of their factions. The crowd were solidly behind Taylor, who had a lot of fun at Bennett's expense here, while Bennett played on the fact that the crowd weren't really behind him to basically be as big a douche as he could be and enrage them further with his actions. Bennett combined his rather shady tactics and approach with his usual mat based style to have Taylor on the ropes, but Taylor fought back and took some risks to combat Bennett. Taylor would then nail the Awful Waffle and pin Bennett to put the Revolution up 1-0.
Winner- Chuck Taylor (1-0)
Magnus D is in his office, and for the first time for close to a month isn't wheelchair bound. In fact for some reason Magnus is dressed like an army general. He has his elite security force with him.
Magnus: Listen up men, here's the plan for tonight. Our plan is not to win, but to ensure that each member of the Texus doesn't walk out of here tonight. Chris, Luke, you have the responsibility of taking out Daniel Bryan and Brian Kendrick, no easy feat but one I feel you are more than capable of. You are both much bigger and stronger than they are, no matter how talented they may be they won't be able to stop your all out assault.
Chris Masters and Luke Gallows leave, leaving Magnus with Cibernetico.
Magnus: And as for you my friend, Cibernetico you have the talk of eliminating Paul London once and for all. Starrcade is drawing ever closer, and if anyone is capable of stopping Mr London achieving his dream of a main event World Heavyweight Title match, its you. Tonight, win, lose or draw you will end the career of Mr London by any means necessary, something that I know more than anyone you are capable of. Do I make myself clear?
Cibernetico grins sadistically.
Cibernetico: Very clear. I will enjoy inflicting Paul London with more pain than he has ever felt in his lifetime. He will leave tonight not under his own power, not on a stretcher or an ambulance, but in a bodybag!
Cibernetico laughs maniacally as he leaves, while Magnus rubs his hands with glee at the prospect
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match
The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) vs The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso)
I don't think The Young Bucks were expecting the level of challenge they faced here, as Jimmy and Jey looked pretty damn good in there in this battle of the brothers. The Bucks took a fast paced, high risk approach which they combined with crisp double teams, as you would expect from them, but The Usos had some quality double team moves of their own, and were largely able to match The Bucks blow for blow. Indeed Nick appeared to be in trouble as Jimmy and Jey went up top, hitting their Double Superfly Splash, going for the cover, but Matt smashed the duo with a steel chair to lead to a DQ!
Winners- The Usos by DQ
The Bucks beat the hell out of The Usos with steel chairs as the fans boo, what the hell has gotten into The Young Bucks? Were they that desperate to retain their titles that they had to resort to this? The duo leave raising their arms with steel chair in hand as the fans boo them senseless, and The Usos are attended to by officials. This isn't over!
Revolution vs Pistols Match 2
Jimmy Jacobs vs Samuray Del Sol
This is obviously setup as a battle between two of the smaller men in their respective factions, albeit these two are pretty much polar opposites in terms of ring style. Del Sol showcased the tremendous high flying skill that has served him so well as part of The Pistols, while Jacobs just seemed intent on hurting Del Sol, throwing fists and going after his mask, trying to rip it off. Indeed Jacobs seemed so intent on this agenda of his that he lost sight of what was important: winning the match. Jacobs went for his spike, charging at Del Sol with it, but Del Sol slipped underneath Jacobs legs to the ring apron, and spring boarded into the Rising Sun which was enough to keep Jacobs down for 3.
Winner- Samuray Del Sol (1-1)
Samuray celebrated post match, but not for long as Jacobs attacks him from behind. Jacobs rips away at the mask of Del Sol with his spike, bloodying him in the process, as the referee begs him to stop. Jacobs isn't done though, he proceeds to RIP DEL SOL'S MASK OFF! Jacobs leaves with bloodied mask in one hand and bloodied spike in another as the fans boo, as Del Sol is attended to by officials. You have to wonder what Johnny Gargano thinks of this, a man who only recently honourably chose to fight Christopher Daniels minus any help from The Revolution in NWA South Beach.
Tag Team Grudge Match
The Texus (Daniel Bryan and Brian Kendrick) vs The Elite Security Force (Chris Masters and Luke Gallows)
Once again, must like the last show this Texus pairing were an untried unit, Bryan and Kendrick have faced each other many times and came out of the same training school, but have never teamed. Yet once again they had a certain understanding which the many years they have teamed together has built, and took the fight to The Elite Security Force for much of this matchup. Master and Gallows however weren't looking to put on a great show, all they wanted to do was what they have been told to do by Magnus D: take out The Texus, and thats what they looked to do. They beat the hell out of Kendrick for much of this match, isolating him from Bryan, before Kendrick finally managed to escape and make the tag. Bryan was pretty much fighting on his own at this point however, the beating Kendrick had taken was too severe. Bryan is one of the best wrestlers on the planet but even then he's only one man, and against two men vastly bigger and stronger than him he could only hold on for so long. Gallows finished off Kendrick with a big Chokeslam, then Masters put Bryan in a SWINGING Full Nelson. Bryan was in agony, he held on for as long as he could but eventually had no choice but to tap, what a massive win for Masters and for the Security Force.
Winners- The Elite Security Force
The Elite Security Force weren't done however, they continued the beatdown on Bryan and Kendrick, looking to take them out for good. Gallows took both down with a Double Chokeslam, then they both got some steel chairs. They beat the living hell out of Bryan and Kendrick with those chairs, until officials ran out to stop the chaos. The Texus had to be helped out of there on stretchers by officials, meaning objective number one of The Elite Security Force has been completed. But will they complete objective number two in our main event tonight?
Revolution vs Pistols Match 3
Brian Cage vs Tommaso Ciampa
The two powerhouses of their respective factions do battle in this one, and it was a pretty damn good match. It perhaps had more mat wrestling than you would expect from these two, but when it came to actual power these two cancelled each other out, meaning they both had to try and take a different approach. Cage had another ace up his sleeve however, something which we haven't seen much of from him in Hybrid Pro and that was his aerial game, he busted out some moonsaults in this one that showed the agility of a cruiserweight, and it was perhaps that agility that caught Ciampa off guard and lead to his downfall. Indeed after a beautiful Springboard Moonsault took Ciampa down to the canvas, Cage called for the end and nailed Weapon X to get 3 and put The Revolution 2-1 in front.
Winner- Brian Cage (2-1)
NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title Match
Sami Zayn vs Oscar Rubio
This matchup is one that a lot of people have been looking forward to, as we get a battle of new school vs old school. Many people think that Zayn has taken the former Rey Mysterio's mantle as the top lucha style competitor in the world, but Rubio doesn't think that his time is up yet and wanted to prove it against Zayn. Rubio isn't as agile as he once was, there was no doubt that he could no longer match Zayn for sheer speed or agility, but Rubio has close to 25 years of wrestling experience, double that of Zayn, and used that to his advantage. Any false moves that Zayn made, Rubio took full advantage of, as he took a more mat based approach to try and slow Zayn down. That was only ever going to work for so long however, Zayn is a master of making a big comeback, and with the crowd fully on his side he was able to do just that. A last ditch 619 attempt by Rubio ended up playing right into Sami's hands as he rushed to the outside and spring boarded into a Tornado DDT that took Rubio down and got Zayn the 3 count!
Winner- Sami Zayn
Post match Rubio looked like he was going to attack Zayn again, but decided against it, instead choosing to shake Zayn's hand and raise his arm in victory. Rubio is heard saying as he leave that "Sami Zayn isn't the new Rey Mysterio, he's the first Sami Zayn". Classy.
Revolution vs Pistols Match 4
Drew Gulak vs Sami Callihan (No DQ Hybrid Pro TV Title Match)
An intriguing matchup this one, as while Callihan is known for being a very hardcore wrestler, Gulak is more opposed to that style despite growing up and indeed being trained in the home of extreme wrestling, Philadelphia. But at the same time, Gulak is not afraid to show his versatility, so when things got violent Gulak was more than able to prove himself a match for Callihan. We got duelling chairshots, in addition to a singapore cane duel, and both Gulak and Callihan got put through tables during the matchup. However Callihan showed the bigger sadistic streak, he produced some thumbtacks and looked to drop Gulak onto them. But Gulak reversed into a SOUTHERN LIGHTS SUPLEX ON THE TACKS! Gulak covers but Callihan somehow kicks out. Gulak looks for the Gu Lock, but Callihan manages to escape, grab Gulak and SLAM HIM ONTO THE TACKS! Gulak writhes in agony as Callihan goes under the ring again to produce barbed wire, this is going to get ugly. CALLIHAN CHOKES OUT GULAK WITH THE BARBED WIRE! Gulak is having the life choked out of him, as Callihan becomes increasingly sadistic. Gulak taps to save his life, NEW CHAMPION!
Winner- NEW Hybrid Pro TV Champion, Sami Callihan (2-2)
Callihan refuses to let go, he's trying to end the life of Drew Gulak right here and now! The referee desperately tries to get Callihan off of Gulak, but Callihan knocks him the hell out! Callihan continues to choke out Gulak with that barbed wire as officials run out and finally get him off Gulak. Callihan leaves with his newly won title, a sadistic smile on his face as Gulak is attended to. The casualty list is growing bigger and bigger as the night progresses it seems.
Speaking of casualties, the next match might provide some as Mark Henry and Samoa Joe battle to see who gets into the North American Title match at Starrcade. The match doesn't even start in the ring as we cut to the two brawling backstage, fighting all the way into the crowd in the arena, then onto the ramp and finally into the ring as the match officially gets started.
Winner Joins the North American Title Match at Starrcade
Mark Henry vs Samoa Joe
As was evident from the pre-match brawling, this one was pure and simply a fight, these two had a grudge to settle and had something major to fight for, that being a North American Title shot at Starrcade. But above all else there was pride at stake here, these two were the first North American Tag Team Champions and wanted to see who the better man truly was. As shocking as it sounds, Samoa Joe was not able to match power with Henry in this, Henry was able to physically dominate Joe in a way he perhaps hasn't been dominated ever, tossing Joe aro8und like he was a small child. So Joe had to rely upon his strikes, throwing fists, kicks and an Enziguri or two to knock Henry down. The match boiled down to a battle of fists, as the two went back and forth off the ropes trying to knock each other down. Henry managed to wobble Joe, and one more could be enough to dizzy Joe long enough for a Worlds Strongest Slam, so Henry charged the ropes once again. But Joe avoided it and destroyed Henry with slaps and an Enziguri, before locking in the Choke! Henry can't escape, and has no choice but to tap out!
Winner- Samoa Joe
Post match the two shake hands and Henry applauds Joe, these two had a fantastic fight and the fans appreciated it, giving the two a standing ovation. Joe takes the mic.
Joe: Dolph Ziggler, Samoa Joe is coming for your title. But why should Samoa Joe simply stop at the North American Title, when there is even greater gold out there. I could walk into Starrcade with a different kind of gold around my waist and walk out a double champion. That's why I want to issue a challenge to you Christopher Daniels. I know your retiring soon, and you have a very busy schedule. Thats because you defend that belt with honor and respect, something that the NWA Title has lacked for a very long time. But I know I could defend that belt with just as much respect and just as much honor as you. We were brothers in The Group and your one of my very best friends Chris, but I want that belt and I want to beat you for it. Name the time and place and I'll be ready to beat you for your belt. Because I am Samoa Joe, I am pro wrestling and I will be your NEXT NWA World Champion!
Revolution vs Pistols Match 5
Kyle O'Reilly vs Tony Nese
This one was billed as the battle between the workhorses of their respective faction, and it definitely produced a fantastic matchup, these two shone on the mat with some fantastic pure wrestling exchanges. Both came in with a set strategy, with O'Reilly looking to weaken the ankle of Nese in order to setup for his Anklelock submission, while Nese looked to work on the neck of O'Reilly, which would make his Reverse Piledriver that bit more effective. The match really could have gone either way, there were almost too many near falls at the end to keep up with, and Nese almost tapped out a few times to that Anklelock. But Nese saw his opening and nailed the Reverse Piledriver, pinning O'Reilly for one of the biggest wins of his career, a clean win over a former 2 time World Tag Team Champion!
Winner- Tony Nese (2-3)
So for the first time The Pistols take the lead in the series, meaning that if Gargano can't beat Matt Taven in the last match, The Pistols will prove themselves to truly be the better faction! But before that we have a grudge to settle.
Submission Match
"The Most Hybrid Athlete in NWA History" Kyle Matthews vs Vordell Walker
Matthews has struggled for consistency since losing the World Heavyweight Title to Christopher Daniels, and a lot of that has been due to his ongoing rivalry with Vordell Walker, a man who Matthews took out of action for 2 months with his Hidaka Lock. Walker has done everything in his power to get this matchup, and now had his shot at revenge, he would love to break Matthews's arm with the Juji-Gatame and return the favour. And while we obviously had a fair bit of mat wrestling in this one, it was done with aggression and hate, with the match at times just turning into a pure slugfest as the rivalry between these two continued to explode. The referee took a bump in the corner thanks to Matthews, and Walker then locked the Juji-Gatame, but Jack Swagger came rushing out. He looked to take out Walker with a shot from the prized steel chair of Matthews, but Walker ducked and Dropkicked the chair into Swagger's face. he grabbed the chair and smashed Swagger over the skull with it, taking him out of the match! But in the process he took his eyes off of Matthews, who locked the Hidaka Lock! The referee makes it to his feet and see Walker tap out, as Matthews somehow wins the match and gets a massive (and indeed much needed) victory!
Winner- Kyle Matthews
Matthews takes the mic post match.
Matthews: "Aww, what a shame Vordell, you thought you were going to beat me didn't you. To bad loser, nobody stops the Hidaka Lock. The last quarter of 2013 may not have been kind to me, but 2014 is going to see the most hybrid athlete in NWA history put himself back on the map. Me and Jack Swagger, The Hybrid Athletes are going to win tag team gold as we set out to do, and Alberto Del Rio, you'll better b ready for Starrcade, because the real Kyle Matthews is back!
Matthews throws down the mic and leaves as Walker is attended to by officials. He tried his best but sadly he couldn't get his revenge on this night. Will he get his revenge down the line or has his best shot been ruined by Jack Swagger's interference?
Johnny Gargano is backstage with Lenny Leonard
Leonard: I'm here with Johnny Gargano. Johnny, your team is down 3-2 at the moment, can you get the win and level the score?
Gargano: Of course I can Lenny, as I've said from the beginning Matt Taven is nothing more than a Johnny Gargano rip-off just like The Pistols are nothing more than a Revolution rip-off. Maybe we won't win this series, but we sure as hell aren't going to lose it to a bunch of cheap knockoffs. When I beat Matt Taven I will prove that there's nothing like the real thing, the whole shebang!
Leonard: I also have to ask, Jimmy Jacob's actions earlier on in the night have caused a lot of controversy, ripping off the mask of Samuray Del Sol in a bloody post match assault. Can you explain why he did this?
Gargano: To be honest Lenny I can't. I've know Jimmy for a long time but I don't know what goes on in his head. I could discipline him for it and I even considered chucking him out of the group altogether after that, but then I saw what Sami Callihan did to Drew Gulak. Perhaps it was an eye for an eye which I can understand, but that still isn't acceptable to me. We will settle this another day, for now I'm going to level the series and continue to prove that The Revolution are stronger than ever!
Revolution vs Pistols Match 6
Johnny Gargano vs Matt Taven
A dream match of sorts as the leader of The Pistols and the leader of The Revolution do battle. Its clear that Gargano doesn't like Taven one bit, and Taven has grown to despise Gargano just as much for his insults towards his group, and that hatred definitely came across here. With that being said however I don't think it was as blow away a match as everyone perhaps expected, it was solid enough from a technical standpoint and there was a definite hatred there as I said, but I didn't feel there was a lot of drama to this and the near falls could have bee more exciting. Perhaps these two just didn't mesh as opponents, which happens, but still a solid matchup all the same. Gargano ended up levelling the series, hitting a Hurts Donut that got him the 3 count.
Winner- Johnny Gargano (3-3)
The series has ended level as neither team has been able to prove that it is better or not. Gargano takes the mic.
Gargano: Matt Taven, it looks like we didn't settle anything here tonight. But I have a proposition for you and The Pistols. We could settle this all manner of way. Things could get violent like they did earlier tonight, but as much as I despise you Matt I think you and I are better than that. Instead I want to set all the cards on the table to settle this thing once and for all. At Starrcade, I propose that my Revolution and your Pistols meet in a 6 on 6 elimination match. The winning team will truly be able to call themselves the better team, while the losing team must split up FOREVER!
Taven takes the mic from Gargano
Taven: We accept. It'll be a pleasure to put an end to The Revolution forever!
The match is set for Starrcade, The Revolution and The Pistols will clash, with the losing team being forced it disband forever!
Paul London and Cibernetico made their way out for the main event, but before the match could begin Magnus D came out onto the ramp.
Magnus: Sorry everyone, one more thing. This match will be held under No Disqualification rules! Enjoy your main event, I know I'm going to.
Thats a big addition and one that perhaps gives some bad omens for what we are about to see.
Main Event No DQ Grudge Match
Paul London vs Cibernetico
A big main event here as London wanted revenge for his fallen comrades in The Texus in addition to making it that little bit closer to Starrcade and his dream of a main event World Heavyweight Title match. Cibernetico is a machine, and looked to dominate this matchup with his power in addition to some mind games that freaked London out. London however has refound his never say die attitude that brought him so much success in the past, and refused to stay down, almost begging Cibernetico to hurt him more just to get that adrenaline rush and get the fans chanting his name. The stipulation didn't play as big a part as expected until near the end, where Cibernetico grabbed a chair. He went for a chairshot, but London avoided it and dropped Cibernetico with a DDT on the steel chair! Chris Masters and Luke Gallows charged down to the ring and looked to give London a 2 on 1 beatdown, but he fought back, holding off the two until they managed to grab his arms and hold him in place. Cibernetico grabbed the steel chair again and went for a shot, BUT LONDON SLIPS OUT AND CIBERNETICO HITS MASTERS! London dropkicks Cibernetico in the back, causing him and the chair to fly into Gallows with just as much force as the worst of chair shots. London grabs the chair AND CAVES IN CIBERNETICO'S SKULL WITH IT! London then grabs the chair and heads to the top rope. CHAIR ASSISTED LONDONS CALLING! 1-2-3!
Winner- Paul London
London celebrates one hell of a hard fought win, but before he can celebrate for too long CIBERNETICO SITS BACK UP! He gets to his feet and grabs London by the throat. GARRA CIBERNETICA! Masters and Gallows recover and try to help out, but Cibernetico tells them to get the hell out of here, this is his task and he will complete it alone. Cibernetico grabs the steel chair, STEEL CHAIR SHOT TO LONDON'S SKULL! London is busted open huge as Cibernetico sets up the chair. GARRA CIBERNETICA ON THE CHAIR! London lies near motionless on the canvas as Cibernetico leaves the ring, walking up the ramp as the fans boo. Cibernetico is about to leave when...
"Is that all you've got?"
Cibernetico turns to the ring where London has got the mic, and is trying to get up.
"Come on you son of a bitch, because if thats all you've got you can go tell Magnus D you failed!"
Cibernetico smiles sadistically and walks back own the ramp to where London is barely even moving. He grabs the steel chair and props up London in the corner. STEEL CHAIR SHOT TO THE SKULL AGAIN GOD DAMMIT! London is again down on the canvas as Cibernetico laughs and goes to leave again. And then..
"Is that it? I'm still alive you son of a bitch, Paul London will never die and your not going to kill my dream!"
Cibernetico looks increasingly annoyed as the fans chant "please don't die", and turns to head back down there again, but this time is interrupted by Magnus D.
"Whoa there Cibernetico, hold the phone. it seems that Mr London has more fight in him than I ever gave him credit for. But that still doesn't mean your going to Starrcade. I'm going to let you live for tonight Paul, but rest assured that this thing is coming to a conclusion soon. And when it does, you'll be gone for good, I will well and truly have proven that you never had what it takes to be a champion!"
Magnus and Cibernetico leave as London struggles to his feet to the applause of the fans, who chant his name over and over again to end the show.
