Ladder Match for the NWA North American Tag Team Championships
Team Awesome
(The Miz / Mike Knox)
-vs-
The Pistols
(Tommaso Ciampa/Sami Callihan)
NWA North American Tag Team Champions
The scene fades into the streets of London, England. The home of StarrCade 2014, Wembley Stadium. We see Harry Smith walking. He stops, looks around and then knocks on a door. The door opens and Harry walks in as the scene fades out.
The scene fades into a gym where Harry is in his training gear. A ring is set up in the middle of an apparent gym. In the center of the ring is a 15 foot latter, and protruding from the rafters is what looks to be a poll and at the end, a small Motorized bird flying around and around on a string.
As Harry looks at the contraption, as we hear a voice from behind.
Voice: Harry, you are probably wondering what in the bloody hell is that? Well, it is a training tool. In a ladder match, the belt will be moving from any side, any angle, once you get to the top and try to retrieve it. This tool will help you focus, predict the movement of the swinging belt. With 6 of you after it, there is no telling where that title will be going.
Harry: Interesting.
Voice: Now, go take down the ladder, Put it at ringside and we will begin.
As Harry starts towards the ring, the face to the voice is shown. It is that of former NWA Intercontinental Champion, Gary Steele.
Gary: Over the past week, Harry has learned the basics of the ladder match. The in's, out's, up's and down's. He has learned how to use the ladder as a weapon, as well as a tool for defense. He has learned how to fall onto the ladder, without killing himself, while inflicting the most pain and punishment to his opponent.
(We are shown clips of Gary hitting Smith with the ladder from behind. We see Smith and Smith atop the ladder, then Smith take a fall from the top, THROUGH a ringside table, and able to get back up, only to do it again, and again. We see Harry half way up the ladder, as Gary pushes it over, sending Harry crashing to the mat, to the ring ropes, to the arena floor, all the while, Gary talking him through it. When it looked like Harry was too worn out, he would has Harry if this is what his father would have done? If he wanted his opponents to seize the moment? What would a true champion do? After each 'pep talk', Harry pulls himself up, shakes off the pain as best as he can and gets ready fro the next onslaught of punishment.)
Gary: Come StarrCade, you will not only see a new North American Champion, but you will see a new Harry Smith!
(The scene fades out as we see Gary walk to the ring and start his latest training session with Harry)
Non Title Match
Alex Riley
-vs-
Dolph Ziggler
NWA North American Heavyweight Champion
A history is shown of the feud between former NWA World Champion's Alberto Del Rio and Kyle Matthews. It shows clips of each man attacking the other and then their 'final' match on April 21st, 2013 where ADR was attacked before his rematch for the NWA World Championship. This would be the match that Kyle Matthews put ADR on the shelf for months on end, only to have ADR return and earn one last match at his arch nemesis at StarrCade.
ADR: Kyle, you were on the opposite side of the world. A no one. A never was. A begger, who went from town to town show to show, you claimed for the love of the sport. I was BORN into this business. A two time World Champion! The Best of the BEST! And then you snapped! You started thinking that once you got inside my brain, you could manipulate los fans, tus amigos, tu familia? Yo era el único que lo vio a través de su pequeño juego! Te vi por la mierda que eres!
(Realizing her is becoming angered, ADR takes a moment to cool off)
ADR: Kyle, at StarrCade, in Last Man Standing, I will out last you. I will hurt you! I will BEAT YOU within an inch of su vida miserable! Me mostraré a todos por qué soy el campeón más peligroso en la historia de la NWA! You, my friend have been warned!
(The scene fades out as we see Del Rio flash that smile he is famous for.)
NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match
: Back to where it all began :
Christian
-vs-
Christopher Daniels
NWA World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion
Show Notes
Team Awesome -vs- The Pistols (c)
•This was a very physical match. Both teams used the ladder to their advantages. Both teams were bloody within a few minutes from the slamming of flesh on steel and aluminum. The Miz brought a chair into play and had his plan worked out, his team would have been the champions, unfortunately, he blasted Knox with the chair, rendering him out cold, on the arena floor! From there the Hybrid Pro athletes worked over the Miz and eventually retained their titles.
Alex Riley -vs- Dolph Ziggler
• Dolph went in looking for a light match, and at first it looked like Alex was going to give it to him. But as the match progressed, the mean streak that Alex has been projecting lately surfaced. Alex focused on the neck and legs of the champion. Knowing that this was a non-title match Alex had nothing to lose, so he cheated at every turn he could. The end came when Alex shot Dolph into the corner and came charging in, but Dolph moved as Alex crashed into the corner! Dolph was able to get up and hit the stunned Alex with the Zig Zag to end the match. Alex was beside himself once he realized what had happened, and attacked the champion with lefts and rights before trying to decimate Ziggler with a DDT. But before Alex could hit the move, Dolph hit a low blow on Alex and hit the Fame-Ass-er! Alex was out cold, and Dolph slid up and whispered something into the ear of Alex, then left the ring as Alex laid there until the ringside medic checked on Alex.
Christian -vs- Christopher Daniels (c)
• Just as the name stated, this was Daniels first 'test' as a champion since the NWA restarted. You see, on November 26th 2011, Daniels and Christian faced off in the finals for the CPW Television Championship. On that night, one would walk out as champion, the other, a footnote in history. And just like in that match, just over two years ago, both men laid it all on the line for the fans. And while Christopher Daniels has a date in London, Christian was looking to take that ticket in the first class cabin, and headline StarrCade. And for a few brief moments, Christian was announced as the NWA World Champion, as the referee didn't see Daniels foot on the ropes. As Christian was celebrating, a replay was shown and he saw the legal rope break. Any man could have taken the opportunity to walk out as 'The man' but Christian wanted none of it. He handed the title back to the referee. The referee told Christian HE was the new NWA World Champion! Christian took a mic and told production to replay the finish to show the referee that the match should be re-started. The referee re-started the match after checking on Daniels, and in the end, it was Daniels who was able to fight off an intense Christian with the BME! After the match, Christian was visibly upset that he wasn't able to recapture the energy and momentum from a few minutes ago, but rather than lash out, he took the NWA Championship from Daniels, strapped it to the champions waist, and raised the hand of his friend, The NWA World Champion Christopher Daniels!
