Where: Evogue Nightclub, 14500 S. Kostner Ave, Chicago, Illinois
When: Sunday 25th January 2014
Attendance: 844
Windy City returned for "Fight Night" on the NWA Network on Sunday the 25th with a 6-match card featuring a Women's Championship match between Britani Knight and Awesome Kong and a main-event of "The Only Star" Daniel Puder and Luke Gallows of the Elite Security Force, of course partner to Chris Masters as the company continue to build to an inevitable showdown between Puder and Masters for the WCPW Heavyweight Championship.
~Mike Knox/T-Bone Segment
The show started with Mike Knox and Tyson T-Bone backstage, they where discussing their one-on-one knockdown drag-out of a match from last week which ended in a double countout. T-Bone sporting spurts of a new beard growth, becomes a bit tetchy and eleuquently as ever told Knox that he's lucky that The Powers That Be have teamed them up this week against The Hotshots of NWA Nola because if he had his way they would have a rematch and he would knox... seven bells of shite out of him! Knox retorted by telling T-Bone to grow a proper beard and to put some milk on it and let a cat lick it off!
Tyson said he's from Essex, and the Only Way Isn't Essex...The Only Way is Beards - people from Essex Men are real Men-Men and grow real Man's Beards! T-Bone tells Knoxs he has a fucking fantastic manly beard unlike Knox's scraggly mouse-nest on his chin! Cue some pushing and shoving, when "The Mouth of The South" Jimmy Hart walked in sticking his Hulk-a-mania megaphone inbetween the dueling behemoths. Hart told them both to calm down brother, because tonight they are a team. They are a team he has his eye on and one that he thinks can do well in Windy City with a little guidance from a wrestling legend like himself. Hart walked away saying he will be watching their match with interest tonight.
1. The debut of Steve Blackman's apprentice Ron Shen
Samoa Joe vs Ron Shen w/"The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman
Samoa Joe made his way to the ring with a look that we can only assume meant he's all business but at the same time is a little intrigued as to what the debutante Ron Shen is made of. The commentators speculated that anyone who is taken under the wing of former WWE fighting aficionado, "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman he should be made of some very stern stuff but note that he got a tough draw in this debut match, put up against a big time guy like Samoa Joe. They wonder if this was by design from Blackman?
Ron came out to Steve Blackman's WWE music, with Steve behind him swinging some kendo sticks about. He is of Japanese-American descent and is introduced as 6'1" and 251 lbs. He was dressed in a Black Gi and looks a bit physically unassuming although we can't see what's underneath his Gi.
The match starts and unfortunately Ron freezes up and takes a beating, which the commentator talked up the idea of "jitters" and how some people can look great in the gym but can't put it together in competition. Joe toyed with Ron, as Blackman shouted encouragement from ringside. Joe eventually tired of this and hit's a Muscle Buster for the 1-2-3, and after the match, Joe dismantles Blackman, throwing him into stairs and beating him with kendo sticks. A weakened Ron pulls himself to his feet and goes into a rage upon seeing his mentor beaten down, unleashing a barrage on Joe, taking him out with a variety of kicks and high-flying moves. The commentators incredulously ask, "Where was that during the match?"
Winner: Samoa Joe via pinfall in 07:29
2. Tag Team Match
Hot Shots (Cassidy Riley & Chase Stevens) vs Mike Knox & Tyson T-Bone
Knox is a 6'6", 293 monster of a man and T-Bone isn't far behind at 6'4" and 262 lbs. Last week they beat the hell out of each other and this week they beat the living daylights out of the team from NWA Nola as Jimmy Hart watched from the aisle. To be fair this wasn't a total squash match as The Hots Shots had quick bursts of offence and even nearly scored a cheeky win with a roll-up on T-Bone but Knox & Bone was just too powerful. T-Bone wiped out Cassidy Riley with a Full Nelson Slam while Knox hit an inverted fisherman buster on Stevens at the same time. Knox and Bone both put a foot on the chest of their downed opponents as the ref counted to three.
Hart seemed excited and jumped in the ring hugging both guys and congratulating them, Hart seemingly taking these guys on board. Hart was screaming 'the only way is beards!', 'the only way is beards!' when the ref asked them what their team name was? Hart turned round not hearing and not noticing the ref and screamed again 'The Only Way is Beards!'
The ref motioned to ring announcer So Cal Val, who then announced the winners of the match was The Only Way Is Beards! Knox and T-Bone looked around quizzically and Jimmy stopped still and then dead-pan played it off like it was his idea all along and that it was a great idea for a name for a tag team. We are not sure and neither was T-Bone or Mike Knox!
Winners: The Only Way Is Beards (Mike Knox & Tyson T-Bone) via pinfall in 04:38.
~Segment with Britani Knight and Katy Lee Ray
Britani and Katy Lee Ray are seen just behind the curtain as Knight is due to come out for her title defense against Kong. Katy wished Britani well in her match and told her she has been a fan of her title reign in WCPW and her fighting champion qualities but she would have her back tonight against Kong!
3. WCPW Womens Championship Match
Britani Knight [c] vs Awesome Kong
Knight is a long-time Women's Champion in Windy City but she faced a very real threat to her title in the form of Awesome Kong. Kong was her usual dominating self here and bounced Knight around from pillar to post.
Something seemed out of sync with Knight tonight and with Awesome Kong looking to finish her off she bailed from the ring and walked off, garnering a count-out loss.
Knight grabbed her belt and stormed out of the ring and going through the curtain just barged past Katy Lee Ray, who it looked like wanted to talk to her. Katy looked out to the ring and seeing Kong lording it up in the ring ran out to the ring herself. Katy Lee Ray slid into the ring and the fiery redhead took it right to Kong! Katy popped out punches and jabs to the face of a stunned Kong and bounced off the rope and drop-kicked Kong in the face, she wobbles although she doesn't go down. Katy motions to the fans and runs the ropes again and goes for another one but this time Kong swats her away like a fly. Kong hit a short arm clothesline on Ray and then set her up for a Sit-Out Powerbomb. The camera panned to the curtain and we could see Britani Knight! It looked like Knight was going to come back, and run-in and save Katy Lee Ray ... but instead she whipped her hair around and turned away leaving. Katy Lee Ray was then planted with the nasty powerbomb hard in the middle of the ring as the fans go silent.
Winner: Awesome Kong by Countout in 5:20
4. The Kevin Nash Open Challenge Continues
Kevin Nash vs Who will accept?
It was then time for the Kevin Nash open challenge once again. The silver fox was back, striding over the ring-ropes. Nash got on the mike and told the fans last week was fun, but too easy. So he's putting a prize on offer to anyone that beats him. A different prize each week will be on offer but the opponent would only find out what it was win or lose after the match.
The person accepting the challenge this week, none other than BUBBLEGUM!
Chants of "He's just a rent-boy, He's just a rent-boy" rung out with the crowd who just love to bash this little wanker, this cretin like instigator.
Bubblegum doesn't charge at Nash like Crash Test Dummy did and instead slides to the outside and does a whole load of stall tactics. Nash eventually comes to drag him back into the ring but Bubblegum has a chair and swings at Nash but Big Daddy Cool ducks and the chair bounces back into the face of Bubblegum knocking him out! Nash laughed his rear end off and headed outside and tossed Bubblegum back into the ring. Nash scrapes up Bubblegum and put's him into position...Jacknife Powerbomb and 1-2-3 it was all over.
Nash then told Bubblegum "look at what you could have won" and the video screen reveals a Washing Machine and a Caravan.
Bubblegum who was waking up slightly, didn't know whether to be gutted he didn't win, or not.
Winner: Kevin Nash in 1:48
5. WCPW Cyber TV Title Match
"John Doe" (WCPW Cyber TV Champ) w/Jimmy Hart vs Carlito vs Kofi Kingston
"I Am" Dave Rayne came out with the Cyber-TV Title belt around his waist but claimed that "John Doe" won the Cyber TV Championship last week (when Dave Rayne couldn't officially get the in the match otherwise) and John Doe can be just about anybody. Therefore tonight defending the title against Kofi Kingston and Carlito would be Bully Ray as John Doe!
This was a very fast paced and innovative match and one that this viewer wouldn't mind seeing going a bit longer on iPPV. Bully Ray took the win with a Bully Bomb on Kofi Kingston after some interference was run by that sly master Jimmy Hart. Dave Rayne came out and shook hands with John Doe for the night Bully Ray. Rayne passed Bully Ray a purple purse which Bully tucked down his pants and leaves, while Dave Rayne lifts the Cyber TV Title above his head as John Doe is declared the winner.
Winner: "John Doe" with a Bully Bomb in 9:24
~Segment with Daniel Puder and Smark Mark
Prior to the main-event Smark Mark caught up with Daniel Puder and starts to ask him a few questions. Smark Mark asks Puder why he felt he had to take the cowards way of attacking Chris Masters from behind last week. Puder responds by saying he's no coward, he's just an opportunist. Puder said he never runs, because then you just don't stop running, but last week Masters turned up with his tag partner Luke Gallows in tow. Puder said Masters obviously needed back-up so he thought he'd teach him a lesson to fight his own battles and to never turn his back when Daniel Puder is around and coming for him!
6. MAIN-EVENT
"The Only Star" Daniel Puder vs Luke Gallows w/Chris Masters
Puder is a former WCPW Heavyweight Champion and held the belt for well over a year and is now on a hellbent mission to regain the belt which is now in the possession of his former tag team partner Chris Masters. This time Masters was at ringside and sat down on comms as Gallows took on Puder in the ring. The match was a battle, going back and forth. Puder went close to a three count with a Star Exploder but Gallows kicked out, however this just delayed the inevitable as Puder waited for Gallows to turn onto his belly and he slipped an arm under his neck and latched on a tight Rear Naked Choke. Gallows flung himself around like a fish out of water, but it was sunk in too tight and he tapped out after just a few moments. Puder did not release the hold though when Gallows tapped and Luke found himself going light's out and going to sleep.
Enraged Masters darted into the ring and stamped on Puder to release the hold. Puder scrambled back to his feet as Masters fired off a few shots and the two went at it for a few moments until Masters latched in his Master Lock but "The Only Star" was too close to the ropes and he grabbed them and then nailed Masters with a backwards mule kick to the groin before escaping from the ring and slowly walking away from the ring with a grin on his face as Masters tended to a still out cold Gallows making sure he was put on his side in the recovery position!
Winner: Daniel Puder with a Rear Naked Choke in 12:08
