NWA Hybrid Pro TV 31/01/2014
Magnus D and his Elite Security Force make their way to the ring to deafening boos from the fans, with Magnus having a smug smile on his face.
Magnus: "What a warm welcome, you are all too kind. I want to start off by saying ha, ha, ha. Why? Because you Paul London lost at Starrcade. Just as I predicted, you weren't capable of taking that title, you've never been a main event player and you never will. You can say what you want about achieving this so called dream of yours by being the showstopper for one night, but the real showstopper is the guy who ends the night holding his hands up in victory, and that was Christopher Daniels. I feel you've worked hard however Mr London, so I'm giving you the night off."
The fans didn't like that one bit, we all wanted to see London's reaction here tonight.
"Now to business. We have a big World Heavyweight Title tournament coming up, and we have to decide who's competing in said tournament. It sure as hell won't be Paul London before you all start chanting his name."
The fans respond with "London" chants
"No, I'm going to give the spots to far more deserving men in qualifying matches right here tonight. We will see Brian Cage and Sami Zayn one on one, Johnny Gargano do battle with his former Group ally Samoa Joe in our main event, and Matt Taven will go one on one with Vordell Walker! The winners will all qualify for the NWA World Heavyweight Title tournament!
Oh one more thing, I feel in a firing sort of mood tonight, so Brian Kendrick, get out here now. You have a matchup against all three of my Elite Security Force, and if you don't win, your fired. And if anybody so much as comes out onto the ramp to try and help you before, during or after the match, they will be fired along with you!"
Magnus joins the announce team as Kendrick makes his way out, a lamb to the slaughter it seems.
Handicap Match
Brian Kendrick vs The Elite Security Force (Cibernetico, Luke Gallows and Chris Masters)
Kendrick obviously didn't stand a chance here, he's a great wrestler but there was no way he was going to be able to beat 3 big powerful guys on his own/ The Security Force had their way with Kendrick as they toyed with him, tossing him around like he was a small child and hitting him with their finishers over and over. Cibernetico finally ends it, but not in the way we expected. He grabs a chair and starts beating the hell out of Kendrick with it, leading to a DQ win for Kendrick. So this was clearly never planned to get rid of Kendrick, but to send a message to Paul London, which they definitely did here.
Winner- Brian Kendrick by DQ
Kendrick is carried out on a stretcher as The Elite Security Force pose, a ominous start to this evening's show.
Matt Taven alongside the rest of The Pistols make their way down to the ring, You would expect Taven to be a bit full of himself tonight, but instead he has the look of a man on a mission.
Taven: "All I'm going to say is I told you so. I bet not a single one of you thought that The Pistols would overcome The Revolution, after all we according to Johnny Gargano were nothing more than a Revolution ripoff. Well at Starrcade, we proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are the real deal, we ended The Revolution forever and proved that we are better than they ever were!
Whats more, we've held these NWA North American Tag Team Titles for seven months. SEVEN! And the challengers have run dry, because we are unstoppable. A very apt comparison to us is another group of dominant young men called The Four Horsemen. There's me, Matt Taven, the man who only wants the best for his boys, and can step up to the plate in the big matches when it matters. There's Tommaso Ciampa and Mike Bennett, the well oiled machine, unbeatable in tag team action. And there's Tony Nese, the enforcer, a man who can outwrestle anybody and wrestle any style of matchup he so wishes. You can laugh at the comparison if you want, but our success speaks for itself!
So this is a message to all the champions here in the NWA. The Pistols time is fast approaching, all of our immediate threats are dealt with, and we have a clear path towards taking all the gold in the NWA. I am going to qualify for the World Title tournament tonight and I am going to win the entire thing. Mike Bennett and Tommaso Ciampa will continue to dominate the tag team ranks, and will take the World Tag Team Title belts from you Rockstars of Wrestling. And Tony Nese has his eyes on both you Daniel Bryan and Harry Smith. I may even have a new member in my sights if 2 belts to one man doesn't work out, but for now I think Tony can handle it.
NWA, take note, The Pistols are getting ready to gun your champions down!"
A message of real intent from Matt Taven, he has big plans it seems, but are they too ambitious, or can his Pistols really dominate the NWA as he feels they can?
Winners Get a Title Shot Next Week
The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) vs The Hybrid Athletes (Kyle Matthews and Jack Swagger)
Both these teams wanted to get into the title hunt, having both been unable to win the belts from the dominant champions The Young Bucks so far. The Uso's used their great double team offense as their main weapon, while The Hybrid Athletes simply looked to outwrestle their opponents in any way they so could, not being afraid to bend the rules while doing so. The Hybrid Athletes ended up winning this one, with Matthews locking Jimmy in the Hidaka Lock for the submission victory while Swagger dropped Jey with the Doctor Bomb.
Winners- The Hybrid Athletes
NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament Qualifier
Vordell Walker vs Matt Taven
A match of two very contrasting fortunes, as Walker is on a bit of a downer right now, having lost his feud with Kyle Matthews and also struggling to get John Cena to face him in the ring. Meanwhile Taven is arguably in the form of his career, say what you will about his methods, but the man pinned his two biggest adversaries of the past few months in the same night at Starrcade in Brian Cage and Johnny Gargano, and has never looked better in the ring than he does right now. Plus he has that wonderful thing called luck on his side, something that again would prove apparent as this match went on. Walker and Taven had a pretty even match that was mainly mat based and went back and forth, with Walker looking like he had it won when he locked the Juji-Gatame. However it was then that John Cena chose to make his entrance, playing to the fans as Walker becomes distracted. Cena does his you can't see me gesture as Walker looks like he wants to head up the ramp and fight Cena. But he forgot about Taven who sneaks up on Walker and drops him with the Taven Effect, getting the 3 count.
Winner- Matt Taven
Cena slowly applauds, telling the camera "great job Vordell" as Taven celebrates. Cena walks down to the ring and takes the mic.
Cena: Magnus D, I don't listen to baseless threats over the internet, your not going to fire me. I will explain myself when I damn well please.
Cena walks back up the ramp as the fans boo the hell out of him, as Cena mocks them with another "you can't see me", walking backstage to the car park where he gets in his car and drives off. Again Cena's behaviour is as erratic as it has been, but what is his reasoning? Is he playing some sick mind games, or does he has some legitimate reason for dodging Walker week after week.
The Young Bucks looked a bit less cocky and a bit more apprehensive about what was coming tonight, a non-title match versus the newest team in the NWA, The Sick Bastards. And when the ring announcer confirmed that this would be a No DQ match, things got very interesting indeed.
Non-Title No DQ Match
The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) vs The Sick Bastards (Jimmy Jacobs and Sami Callihan)
As much as they have been increasingly unpleasant in recent weeks to just about everyone, you had to feel sorry for The Young Bucks here. The Sick Bastards utterly annihilated them here, they showed an utter disregard for rules and decency, beating the hell out of The Bucks with any weapons they could find. Jacobs took great pleasure in cutting open Nick's head with his signature spike as Nick screamed out "MY BEAUTIFUL FACE!" in horror at what Jacobs was doing to him. Callihan meanwhile grabbed a barbed wire covered 2x4 and smashed Matt's back with it repeatedly, causing cuts to appear all over him as a result. Callihan finally ended it by wrapping barbed wire around Matt's neck and choking him out with a Stretch Plum!
Winners- The Sick Bastards
The Sick Bastards don't even care that its over, they continue their assault as Callihan continues to choke out Matt with the barbed wire and Jacobs continues to stab the bloodied Nick with his spike. The referee desperately tries to stop this, only to eat a singapore cane shot from Jacobs! They then start beating the hell out of the ref with their chosen weapons as officials, other wrestlers and even security run out to stop the carnage! Jacobs and Callihan leave, the bloodthirsty fans having loved every second of what we just witnessed, as Matt is attended to by officials and Nick continues to cry out "THEY RUINED MY BEAUTIFUL FACE!"
Johnny Gargano is backstage with Lenny Leonard.
Leonard: "Johnny, at Starrcade The Revolution lost to The Pistols in very controversial circumstances when Adam Cole turned on you. You responded by costing him the NWA North American Title later on that night. How do you feel about all that went down that night?"
Gargano: "I was shocked Lenny, thats all that I can say. Adam Cole, I used to think of you as my very best friend on this planet. We broke through together back in the old WWA as part of Newgen, which later became what was The Revolution here in the NWA. You and Kyle dominated the tag team ranks, I was proud of all we achieved together. And yet at Starrcade you threw that all back in my face, and tarnished your legacy as one of the founding members of our group. Its clear that success has gone to your head Adam, your not the man I knew and respected less than a year ago, you've got an ego a mile wide.
I learned the hard way Adam that having an ego in this business gets you nowhere. My success went to my head and saw me try to trash a legitimate NWA World Title in the Junior Heavyweight Title as part of TOXIC, and then I lost everything. It took me many months to regain my lost momentum and respect, but I did it, and I want to build a better NWA. But with egotists like you around Adam thats never going to be possible. I've forgiven a lot of people who wronged me over the years, including Jimmy Jacobs, Jack Swagger and even Kyle Matthews, but your actions are unforgivable. And I will do whatever it takes to get my revenge on you for tarnishing the legacy of a group I spent close to 4 years of my life building from scratch!"
Gargano storms off before Lenny Leonard can even ask him about tonight's match. With Adam Cole in attendance, our main event could be very interesting indeed.
NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament Qualifier
Brian Cage vs Sami Zayn
Cage once again showed his tremendous potential at Starrcade, eliminating two men in just over a minute in the Revolution vs Pistols match only to be eliminated after a Low Blow from matt Taven. He continued to show that potential by dominating the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion for much of this match with that awesome power of his, which is just so difficult to contend with. Zayn has always been a bit of an underdog in his matches, and he made another comeback in this one, getting in his big moves before nailing Cage with a Springboard Tornado DDT. But before he could go for the pin, Michael Elgin ran down and distracted Zayn. Cage then kicked up to his feet, grabbed Zayn from behind and dropped him with Weapon X, getting the 3 count and qualifying for the tournament!
Winner- Brian Cage
Post match Elgin gets in and nails Zayn with a Revolution Elgin Bomb, before the two pose over Zayn, as we have seen the formation of The Unbreakable FN Machines!
NWA World Junior Heavyweight Triple Crown Match
Daniel Bryan vs Kallisto
Fantastic matchup here between these two, a real treat for fans of junior heavyweight wrestling. Bryan definitely had the advantage on the mat in this one, something which he used to his full advantage throughout to ground Kallisto. But Kallisto is a talent beginning to break out having left The Pistols, and he showcased his fantastic high flying skill throughout, taking the fight to Bryan and getting some big near falls. Indeed had it not been for a fortunate rope break, a Kallisto Driver could very well have ended this match and given up a new champ. Bryan however managed to recover and lock in the Yes Lock, which after a good 20-30 seconds Kallisto was forced to tap out to.
Winner- Daniel Bryan
Bryan celebrates post match, but not for long as The Elite Security Force charges the ring. Bryan tries to fight back, but even a man of his immense wrestling talent didn't stand a chance in there with these three, as they did exactly what they did to Brian Kendrick to him. Ending their assault with a Garra Cibernetica from Cibernetico, The Elite Security Force posed to boos from the fans, another name added to their list. This only send a bigger message to Paul London, how is he going to respond next week?
Main Event NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament Qualifier
Samoa Joe vs Johnny Gargano
The last time these two wrestled was back at the end of November in the final of the Hybrid Tournament, with Gargano winning on that occasion thanks to the help of The Revolution. Now Joe had the chance of earning some revenge, but getting an opportunity to take part in the prestigious World Heavyweight Title Tournament in the process. Gargano had been on quite a roll until recently, indeed his loss at Starrcade to The Pistols saw his Revolution broken up, but it didn't phase him as he looked as crisp on the mat and in the air as he always does. Joe however was a man on a mission, that mission being to continue towards his goal of winning NWA gold, he fired away at Gargano with every strike in his arsenal, as well as tossing Gargano around with his power. The match however took a dark turn when the referee fell, and Adam Cole charged the ring just as Gargano nailed Joe with a Hurts Donut. Cole bgs Gargano to get up, going for the Florida Key, but Kyle O'Reilly and Chuck Taylor run down for the save, Taylor with chair in hand. The crowd are molten as the very core of what was The Revolution are all in the ring, ONLY FOR TAYLOR TO SMASH GARGANO WITH THE CHAIR! He does the same to O'Reilly, TAYLOR IS WITH COLE! Joe is up however and he charges, Cole escapes but Taylor eats a ton of slaps and an Enziguri from Joe! Joe then very graciously allows Gargano time to get to his feet, so they can finish this match the right way.
The two go back and forth with some strikes, then Gargano looks for the Hurts Donut again. But Joe slips behind AND LOCKS THE CHOKE! Gargano tries to hold on but can only last for so long, he taps!
Winner- Samoa Joe
Joe and Gargano exchange a handshake and raise each other's hands, but Gargano looks far from happy, Adam Cole has again had a hand in his defeat, and another former Revolution member in Chuck Taylor has turned his back on him. How will Gargano get his revenge? We will start to answer that next week, see you then folks!
