Windy City TV: Fight Night - episode #25
Where: Evogue Nightclub, 14500 S. Kostner Ave, Chicago, Illinois
When: Sunday 23rd February 2014
Attendance: 876
Dark Match: The Usos w/Rikishi defeated a couple of local Chicago wrestling school trainees calling themselves Jeffery Flockhart & "Rock Hard" Dick Ryder with a Double Samoan Spike to Flockhart in about 3 minutes. This match was all The Usos and they showcased all their big moves.
"Fight Night" starts on the NWA Network with recaps of the last episode's main-event as we see "The Only Star" Daniel Puder interjecting himself into the 6-Pac NWA World Title Tournament Eliminator match. Puder attacked NWA Windy City Champion Chris Masters who had already qualified by nature of scoring the most falls in the 30 minutes time limit with a nasty right hand aided by solid Brass Knuckles to the face to cause him to be pinned by none other than Crash Test Dummy, in what was a huge, huge shock.
We come into the nightclub and take in all the visuals and lighting effects from the cool lazers installed at Evogue. Green and Purple lazers fly and dart about everywhere as scatily clad dancing girls do their thing in the ring. Smark Mark on coms does the usual welcomes and says we have an important message from the Champion Chris Masters and up on the big screen a pre-taped video is played.
Masters sports a couple of stiches on his left eyebrow which are in the process of healing, obtained from the shot from the brass-Nucks from Puder but he doesnt try to hide it or the partial shiner with shades. "The Masterpiece" seems focussed and calm, he apologises that he can't be in front of his Windy City fans right now defending his title like he does each and every show because tonight he is booked in NWA South Beach in a hugely important NWA World Title Tournament match against one of the favourites for the Big Gold, Chicago's very own CM Punk!
*Crowd pops for the mention of one of their favourites in Punk... *CM PUNK, CM PUNK CM PUNK*
Masters smiles a little, even on the pre-tape, knowing that Punk is the man here in Chicago and he would get some great pops... even though he is dastardly bastard over in South Beach.
Chris says that he respects what CM Punk can do, but Masters says it's about time people realised that The Masterpiece is a major player here in the NWA and he's going to demonstrate that in his match with CM Punk and upset a few people. Masters then turns his attention to Daniel Puder. Masters congraulates Daniel Puder on being able to blind-side him and attack him while dressed up as a Janitor. Masters tells Puder, well done. He tells him what a man he must feel like, blindsiding him with brass knuckles. He says he doesn't blame him though - because if Chris Masters was challenging Chris Masters for the NWA Windy City Championship he too would feel a little intimidated of a man with such a great physique, a little unsure of his own abilities to face him one on one against a wrestler as capable as Masters, and even a little...scared having to face off against "The Masterpiece"!
Masters said that enough is enough and Puder has his attention and if it's a Championship Match he wanted? Well he now has it! "Uncensored" on iPPV, March the 30th! Chris Masters verses Daniel Puder for the title, in a Brass Knuckles on a Pole Match! Masters finishes the pre-tape actually wishing Puder well in his NWA World Title Tournament match tonight against Jessie Godderz of Ohio Valley Wrestling in the main-event of Fight Night, explaining that he wants Puder to go as far as he can in the tournament, because he wants to beat him in the final that's why!

We get a backstage interview with So Cal Val and Steve Blackman and Ron Shen. Ron Shen has the mike just does a deadly stare into the camera for a few moments. Sensing nothing more was coming, Blackman took the mike and looking at his protegee says that after last weeks intense hypnotherapy session experts have informed him that Ron Shen isn't mentally ready to get back into the ring just yet.
But he will be. Blackman says he will get Ron Shen's head as straight as an arrow and is so confident in his man that next Fight Night, he has a little challenge for him. He's heard there's another mentor/protogee relationship going on elsewhere in the alliance and that Samoa Joe just might have his own little apprentice. Blackman told Joe that he didn't appreciate what Joe did to Ron and he didn't appreciate what he did to him either after the bell. Blackman said he was delighted that Ron showed what he can do and kicked Samoa Joe's ass after that match and said that next time, during the match will be different. He promises that we will see the real Ron Shen but says that he wants to be there too see it up close and personal so Blackman challenges Samoa Joe to bring over his apprentice to Windy City and they will have a tag team match!
Mentor and Apprentice verses Mentor and Apprentice!!!
1. The Kevin Nash Open Challenge Segment
"Big Daddy Cool" Kevin Nash def. Barry Horowitz with a Jacknife Powerbomb in 1:03
Nash faced perhaps his sternest challenge to date as accepting the challenge, out came legendary veteran enhancement talent Barry Horowitz to the sounds of the Jewish folk song "Hava Nagila". Barry got in the ring and as Nash prepared to square off, he stopped and told the big man to wait just a minute now. Horowitz then proceeded to slap himself on the back a few times. The fans in the nightclub really got into this and started slapping themselves (and each other sometimes, hard!) on the back while being led on by Barry who climbed the tunbuckle as the back slapping picked up momentum...
Big Daddy Cool was slapping his back too when Barry looked at him, but as soon as his back if you will forgive the pun was turned - Nash charged in with a double axe-handle to the back of Horowitz knocking him down off the turnbuckle and onto the canvas. Kev rained down with some quick stomps and kicks and then picked up Barry and stood him in the corner. Nash fired a couple of back handled elbows and then stepped back, framing Barry with his hands like he was in a movie, then stuck his big boot into the throat of the likeable 90s jobber choking him only breaking just before the count of 5. Nash picks up Barry, and you know the score and the sequence, fires him into the ropes. Big Boot. Jacknife Powerbomb and 1-2-3 it's all over and Nash wins again.
Nash is strolling around doing the Wolf-Pac sign and getting ready to do his usual poloroids, poster signing and merch flogging that he has been doing recently after his matches to make a few more fistful's of dollars being the savy man Nash is when suddenly "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats blares out and out comes...ABSOLUTELY FULL OF ENERGY!!! CRASH TEST DUMMY!
Wearing his usual cone on his head CTD runs around the stage a like a wild man posessed bouncing himself off the walls of the entrance-way and doing flops to the floor face first and getting right back up as the crowd go crazy for the act of the Cone Hat wearing one. CTD has the mike in his hand but we're not sure he can speak? CTD puts down the mic and points at Nash and then points at him before pointing to the fans....they roar their approval!
Smark Mark on coms put's accross that Crash Test Dummy was Kevin Nash's original opponent in his series of squash match challenges where he took a massive beating but took it like a good-un. Smark Mark mentions again that CTD actually pinned Champion Chris Masters last week so at some point is actually due a title shot in Windy City but it looks like tonight he's picking a fight with Kevin Nash!
2. #1 Contenders Match for the NWA Windy City Tag Team Titles
The Only Way Is Beards (Mike Knoxx & T-Bone) w/Jimmy Hart def. The Nexus (Darren Young & Heath Slater) via pinfall when T-Bone pinned Young with a Full Nelson Slam in 4:48
T.O.W.I.B beats former 3-Times Tag Team Champions The Nexus clean in about 5 minutes to become the #1 contenders to the tag team titles of The Hooligan Squad. They set up a clear case that they just might be the stiffest test the Hooligan Squad have faced in some time.
3. Awesome Kong def. Katy Lee Ray with the Implant Buster in 3:29
The newly self-christened "Elite Diva" Paige turned up at ringside to watch this match. Kong started off strong and dominated but the fiery red head Katy Lee Ray surprised us all showing ALOT of fight and spirit and had Kong rocked. Katy followed up with a series of drop-kicks and Kong was wobbled on jelly-legs. Katy headed up stairs to the top rope and looked to hit a missile drop-kick off the top but Paige didn't like what she was seeing from ringside and jealously seemingly overtook her. The NWA Windy City Womens champion leaped up and clocked Katy with her belt to the back of her head. She crumpled down hitting the canvas pretty hard and Kong soon recovered to hit her finisher for the win. Post-match Paige got in the ring and got in Katy's face pointing and shouting and shoving her title belt in Katy's face.

Basement Jaxx hit and out strutted "I Am" Dave Rayne, with the Cyber TV Title around his waist and "The Mouth of The South" Jimmy Hart at his side. Dave Rayne got into the ring and tells the fans that he had it on good authority that The Powers That Be are investigating the legitimacy of John Doe and his reign as Cyber-TV Champion. Both Rayne and Jimmy looked puzzled. Jimmy says that he is a good friend of John Doe and has sure impressed him during his time in Windy City Pro Wrestling, even going as far as saying that John Doe just might be the best Cyber-TV Champion of all time!
Dave Rayne says he agrees and he's not sure why the Powers That Be are not sure about the whole who is John Doe thing. Because John Doe is John Doe and that is whoever John Doe might be...obviously...of course! Dave Rayne says he's been told that tonight theres going to be a #1 contenders match for the Cyber-TV belt in a four-way match and that John Doe will have to face the winner at Uncensored. Dave Rayne says whatever...that's cool...that's fine, he's confident that John Doe will sore to new heights...and fly as high as a kite at Uncensored and will defend his title in a ladder match!
It seems like Dave Rayne has a plan!
#Intermission - During the Adverts it's announced that on the next Fight Night we will see two awesome high-flyers take on each other in what is sure to be a great match. Evan Bourne will take on Noam Dar in a #1 contenders match for the Zero Gravity Title with the winner taking on American Kickboxer 2 @ Uncensored!#
4. #1 Contenders Match for the Cyber-TV Championship
Rey Mysterio def. Carlito, "Shooting Star" Kris Travis and Jack Swagger in 10:31 pinning Carlito with the 619 to become #1 contender
Mysterio got the victory here but he had to dig deep. Carlito in particular was very focussed on Rey and seemed to single him out on purpose and slowing him down with some nasty offence. Jack Swagger and Kris Travis on the other hand seemed to develop a rivarly of some kind in this match as well. Both men are pure athletes and they took it too each other tearing the house-down. Finish came when Rey managed to slide out of a Backstabber attempt near the ropes and took advantage to swiftly run the ropes and hit a 619 followed by a spring-board splash for the three count.
A good win here from behind from Rey, but Carlito it seems wasn't through with Rey as he glarred daggers through Mysterio as the camera focussed in on the knealing Carlito as Rey left the ring limping and holding his knee.
5. MAIN-EVENT: NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament - 1st Round Match
"The Only Star" Daniel Puder VERSES "Mr. PEC-tacular" Jessie Godderz (Ohio Valley Wrestling)
So Cal Val did the introductions with both men in the ring for tonight's main-event. Giving the main-event that big-time feel.
"In the Red Corner, from Hollywood, California, USA. Standing 5 foot 10 inches tall and Weighting in at 221 and one-half pounds, 100.45 Kilos. He is one of the THE top ranked competitors from Ohio Valley, Wrestling....Mr PEC-tacularrrrrrr....Jessie.....Godderz.........GODDERZZZZ!!!!"
"And in the Blue Corner, from Cupertino, California, USA. Standing Six foot 3 inches tall and weighing in at 235 lbs, 106.8 Kilos. He is the FORMER...NWA Windy City Heavyweight Champion...."The Only Starrrr"... Daniel.......Puderrrrr......PUDERRRRRRR"
Puder and Godderz took a minute to soak this in as the bell sounds. They knew how important this match was. This was a chance to progress in the NWA World Title tournament and a chance to really make a name for themselves around the NWA as they knew for sure that important eyeballs would be watching this match! Puder and Godderz locked up and despite being the smaller man, Godderz who has a body like a Greek God surprised Puder with his strength and pushed him down to the ground. Godderz did a sort of a mini hulk-up to the crowd who lapped it up, they took to the former Big Brother star in this match.
The match carried on and went back and forth, and fast paced too - with Godderz really looking to push the pace and tempo. Puder came back into it with some stiff inside leg kicks and after taking him down with a double-leg threw some mean, nasty looking elbows from the top as he grounds n' pounded Mr PECtacular! Puder scooped up Godderz...STAR EXPLODER!!! 1-2-NO!!!! Godderz kicked out showing great heart! Puder seemed a bit pissed off about that fact that it wasn't all over all ready, and dragged up Jessie to his feet by his hair. He motioned to the crowd, slowly drawing his hand accross his neck. Puder hopped around the back of the Ohio Valley star trying to slip in a Rear-Naked-Choke but Godderz blocked, doing well to keep his chin down and stop Puder getting his arm under his neck. Godderz fired a backwards elbow into the gut of Puder and spinned around with a swift kick to the stomach of "The Only Star" and from out of nowhere landed a huge looking STUNNER!!!! Godderz hit the Stunner and Puder took the bump almost like Scot-Hall-from-WrestleMania-18-esque and bounced into the ring ropes, and slipped out of the ring. Godderz looked to cover but Puder was out of the ring and he was too hurt to go after him. Both men where down for a decent amount of time. Puder on the outside pulled out his brass-knucks from his pants and slipped them on clenching his fist slowly. The crowd seeing this went wild in anger but the referee was oblivious to it all seeing none of this in the ring.
Puder crawled back into the ring hiding his Nucks, still suffering the effects of the Stunner. Still selling it. Perhaps a little more than he was infact hurt. Godderz struggled to his feet and looked to scoop up Puder but on the ref's blind-side "The Only Star" cracked him hard in the skull with the knucks. Puder quickly covered Godderz for the three count and slipped the knucks back into his pants as the ref signaled for the bell and declared Daniel Puder the winner!
Winner: via pinfall after 13:28 "The Only Star" Daniel Puder
