The following report was filed by Iceman Commeth from the Emerald Coast Convention Center.
- This was my third South Beach show that I've been to (I've been to two at the Pensacola Civic Center), and I've gotta say they have yet to put out a product that makes me wish I hadn't spent my money. The merch stands were kind of full up so I bought a soda and went to find my seat.
- CM Punk opened the show with a promo about how The road to hell, and the NWA World Heavyweight Championship go through him. He said that that wasn't enough though and wanted a shot at the South Beach Title and then would take on the Nation of Domination to win the South Beach tag titles by himself saying he could tag himself in and still be better. Uhaa Nation came out and said that the road to the NWA title would Punk across a nation of violence. In fact; if he wanted to, why wait until the finals? Punk agreed. Uhaa is a rising star and with how great CM Punk has been of late, the people around me couldn't wait.
- Jon Moxley came out for our first match and squared off with Robert Roode. Roode was participating in his first singles match since coming over to South Beach and I've forgotten how good a worker he was. They went back and forth for almost twenty minutes, countering everything and the crowd was really into this match. Moxley would pick up the win after breaking free from the Roode Awakening and hitting a headlock driver. After the match Bray Wyatt would come down and stop Moxley from attacking Roode, whispering in his ear before holding out his arms. Wyatt would hit Sister Abigail on Roode before joining up with Moxley; and, miming guns with their hands, pointed at the ground and "fired" causing the lights to go out briefly. When they came back on Roode was in the ring alone. What was that about?
- We had a tag team match next as Jay Lethal and Tyler Black would face off with Adam Cole and Chuck Taylor. Taylor and Cole work so well as a team. They've been working together so long that it seems they've got telepathy between them. Tyler Black was phenomenal in his own right and I was amazed at how much Jay Lethal has stepped up his game recently. His feud with CM Punk seems to have brought out a new fire in him that wasn't there before. Black and Lethal would pick up the win after a Lethal Combination/diving double foot stomp combo. What a match. These four just tore down the house.
- PAC would come down with Bray Wyatt to a mixed reaction from the crowd. PAC grabbed the mic and said that he is one of the best Junior Heavyweights in the NWA but you wouldn't know it because he's never on a card. First he's taking down Prince Devitt's embassy and then he'll take the World Junior Heavyweight Title. Dolph Ziggler would come down to the ring.
- Dolph Ziggler and PAC was our third match and this was the second match in a row that reminded me why I'm a wrestling fan. This was a MASTERPIECE as both men left it all in the ring. PAC would get the win after blocking a Zig Zag and hitting an imploding 450. After the match Pac would raise the head of Ziggler and start going after but Bray once again interfered. He would hold out his arms and say something to PAC that made him stop. Bray would pick Ziggler up, kiss his head and hit Sister Abigail. PAC and Bray would mime shooting at the floor again. The lights went out. When they came back on the ring was clear and Justin Roberts called for intermission. We would be back in 35 minutes.
- I went to the merch stand and there was stuff from all over the NWA. I picked up Jessie Godderz's shirt from OVW that said "I'm Pec-Tacular", the last DVD copy of CPW's Bloody Saturday iPPV (The guy at the stand said that he couldn't keep them on the table fast enough), and a couple of souvenirs from Kenshiki and New Orleans. I also paid 15 bucks for a chance to go backstage and meet some of the wrestlers after the show.
- I got back to my seat in time to see a three way match for the South Beach Title as Chris Hero defended his belt against Ezekiel Jackson and Bully Ray. A lot of chaos in this match and Zeke had a good showing. Bully Ray would fall to Hero though after hitting a Bully Bomb on Zeke and standing up just in time to receive a roaring elbow from Hero. Good match but there was something lacking. There always is in triple threat matches to me...oh well. It'll be interesting to see where they go from there.
- Our next match was the main event which surprised a lot of us. Usually you get to see about 8 or 9 matches on a house show, but all of them were pretty good so I can't complain too much. Punk would come out first and the crowd booed him like crazy. I cheered a little because frankly I love his character. He's confident in his abilities and he doesn't care who knows it. Uhaa Nation came out and the crowd popped considerably. Uhaa might be one of the most under rated talents in the NWA right now. NOBODY that's his size (he looks absolutely MASSIVE in person) should be able to do what he does in the ring. Dude is almost 250 and flies around like a junior heavyweight. That being said there's only a few people in the NWA that might be able to challenge Punk for the claim of "Best in the World". These two went twenty-five minutes before Punk won after getting the knees up on a standing shooting star attempt and hitting the GTS. The crowd gave both men a standing ovation post match.
- Overall it was a good show, although I'm wondering where Low Ki and Kazarian were at. Are they in the doghouse or something? Also I wish I could have seen Petey Williams live as he's one of my favorite junior heavyweights. I'd give this show three and a half out of five stars and I can't wait for South Beach to bring another iPPV to this area.
