So this is the show i wanted to be able to write last week, but my injured finger wouldn't let me. Its all fixed now though, and I am very pleased with how this turned out, it was an utter blast to write. I'd appreciate any feedback you can give me on this.
NWA Hybrid Pro TV 07/03/2014
Hybrid Pro Commissioner Kevin Nash makes his way out to the ring to begin the show, looking as cool and collected as always.
Nash: Did everybody enjoy my show last week? I'm sure you did, I mean Big Daddy Cool booked it, so it had to be good right? But here's the thing, you see last week I told a bit of a lie. I'm not really the new commissioner, I'm just his bodyguard. The real commissioner is just about to make his way to the ring.
This leads to PAUL HEYMAN making his way out to a massive ovation from the fans, who chant "Paul E" in appreciation of one of the biggest geniuses professional wrestling has seen.
Heyman: That's right, I'M BACK! And things are abou to get extreme in Hybrid Pro!
The fans love it and once again chant for Heyman.
Heyman: For too long I've seen great talent squandered in Hybrid Pro, and I'm ready to give these guys a shot to make themselves professional wrestling stars. But why has it taken me so long to come back into this business? Well its simple, I lost a lot of my passion for this sport, the NWA appeared to be dying at the end of last year, and I didn't see that passion and drive that made me love this business in the first place. But the past few months have been fantastic, I've seen new stars emerge, older stars reinvigorate their careers, new promotions appearing and some of the best show I've seen taking place. And I LOVE it, wrestling is fun again, indeed you could say its getting EXTREME!
The fans again explode and chant "ECW" as Heyman nods in appreciation.
"Hybrid Pro may not be ECW, but it is a promotion like many others in the NWA that embody the spirit of that great company. And you can rest assured that I will put the emphasis back on the action, which is what people love about this sport! With that being said, I'm going to leave now and let the wrestlers do the talking. Thank you!"
Heyman and Nash leave, and Hybrid Pro under his guidance sounds like it will be very entertaining.
Debutants 4 Way Match
ACH vs Austin Aries vs Kazarian vs Low-Ki
Our four debutants opened the show in traditional Hybrid Pro fashion, and they put on a great match, the least you would expect from 4 top talents like these. The big story her was ACH trying to prove himself in there with 3 established veterans, who didn't really take him seriously. Yet as the match went on, ACH's energy and explosiveness made everybody step up and take notice, and indeed do all they could to keep him down. Low-Ki made the biggest impact of the established stars, he hat hard and destroyed everything in his path, while Aries looked sharp on the mat and in the air, and Kazarian looked like a man with a point to prove. Aries and Low-Ki took each other out when Ki dropped Aries with a Ki Krusher FROM THE APRON TO THE FLOOR! Kazarian caught ACH up top and took him down with the Flux Capacitor, then called for the Fade to Black. He got ACH hooked for it, but ACH reversed to a rollup, 1-2-3, ACH WINS IT!
Winner- ACH
What an upset win for ACH, he more than proved himself here, and will be a top star in Hybrid Pro in the coming weeks and months.
Drew Gulak and Biff Busick vs Shane Hollister and Caleb Konley
4 of the finest young talents in Hybrid Pro did battle here in tag team action. Busick and Gulak are yet to get a win together as a team while Hollister and Konley have never teamed before. It was an exciting matchup as you would expect, but the definite story here was the lack of cohesion between Hollister and Konley: indeed Konley looked almost appalled at having to team with Hollister. As Gulak and Busick finally showed their great promise as a duo by beating the hell out of Hollister, Konley decided enough was enough and left, leaving Hollister to the wolves. Busick nailed his Flying Blockbuster on him, which was followed by a Gu-Lock from Gulak which made Hollister tap.
Winners- Drew Gulak and Biff Busick
Konley left with a look of smug satisfaction on his face, as Gulak and Hollister celebrate their first win as a team. Where can they go from here? Getting a team name might be a start....
EC3 vs Jobber
Pretty much entirely a showcase for EC3 against an old favourite, Jobber. Jobber did what he does best and got the hell beaten out of him from bell to bell by EC3, who's impressive wrestling skill were overshadowed by his arrogance. EC3 would finish off Jobber with the One Percenter in a little over 2 minutes.
Winner- EC3
EC3 posed and celebrated post match to the boos of the fans, before Sean Waltman headed to the ring.
Waltman: You know, I don't think your that tough. You beat two youngsters with a whole lot less experience and think that your a big shot. Well kid, I've beaten opponents way tougher than you in my career, not just in the ring but outside of it as well, and I'm sure I could take you. You want to prove yourself, fight me right here, right now!
Waltman looks ready to go, and EC3 seems up for it to, but then he shrugs and leaves smugly smiling all the way and saying "I can beat you anytime I want, just not tonight". Will we see these two face off soon, and if so can Waltman overcome a very capable opponent? Or will EC3 show he's not all he's cracked up to be?
Grudge Match
Johnny Gargano vs Chuck Taylor
Taylor has been a thorn in Gargano's side ever since he turned on him to align with his arch nemesis Adam Cole, and had his chance to get some revenge here. It was an intense match as expected between the former Revolution members, which mixed mat wrestling with the wild brawling you would expect in a grudge match like this, with Taylor breaking the rules whenever he could get away with it. It would be Gargano who would get a much needed win and some vengeance at long last, hitting Taylor with the Hurts Donut to get 3.
Winner- Johnny Gargano
Jaka makes his way out for a match with a mystery opponent of Chris Dickinson's choosing, accompanied by his mentor Samoa Joe. Chris Dickinson heads out onto the ramp, and announces that Jaka will be facing none other than....RON SHEN! Shen heads for the ring alongside his mentor, Steve Blackman, who gets a massive ovation from the fans who remember his run as "The Commissioner of Asskicking". Chris Dickinson decides to do commentary as our match gets underway.
Jaka w/Samoa Joe vs Ron Shen w/Steve Blackman
The battle of the protégés as Shen and Jaka do battle here, with both of them having a chance to prove that they are the better prospect of the two. It was a hard hitting matchup as a result, as Jaka unleahsed his many strikes and Shen did likewise, showcasing all he has learned battling alongside Blackman, one of the toughest sob's the world has ever known (just ask Chuck Norris). The match came down to who wanted it more, as the two exchanged near fall after near fall, that was until Chris Dickinson decided to get involved. He ran over from commentary and attacked Samoa Joe, as Jaka saw what was happening and got distracted. Steve Blackman looked pissed off as he charged for Dickinson, AND KNOCKS HIM OUT WITH A KARATE KICK! Dickinson may very well be dead, as we see in the ring that Shen has Jaka ready for his own Karate Kick ,and that is enough for 3 and a huge win for Shen!
Winner- Ron Shen
Joe looks really pissed off as Shen and Blackman leave, with Dickinson still lying knocked out on the outside of the ring, a stretcher soon arriving to carry him out of there. Joe gets right in Jaka's face AND SLAPS HIM! He grabs Jaka by the throat and says "Do not let anyone distract you from what matters, winning the god damn match!". He shoves Jaka down and asks him if he understands. Jaka looks shocked but nods, as Joe beckons for him to leave as the two head backstage. Joe is one strict teacher, thats for sure.
NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title Match
Sami Zayn vs Jigsaw w/Mike Quackenbush
Jigsaw made an impressive debut alongside Mike Quackenbush in tag action against Zayn and tag partner Shane Hollister, earning a title shot in the process. Jigsaw was a quality challenger for Zayn, he was a match for Zayn in pretty much every area, especially in the high flying stakes. But Zayn has been on a great run as champ, including defeating Jigsaw's trainer Mike Quackenbush a few weeks ago, and he would again come out on top here with a Springboard Tornado DDT.
Winner- Sami Zayn
Post match these two exchange a handshake, and Quackenbush also got in there to applaud and raise the hand of Zayn. Quackenbush again said that he would soon have more challengers for Zayn, as the Chikarmy will continue to grow. Who else might we see?
"The Most Hybrid Athlete in NWA History" Kyle Matthews w/Alberto Del Rio vs Matt Taven w/Tommaso Ciampa and Mike Bennett
Matthews had a grudge to settle with Taven here, with Taven having attacked Matthews during the past 2 weeks of Hybrid Pro TV with his Taven Effect, declaring himself the uncrowned NWA World Champion. Matthews took out all his frustration here, as good as Taven is he isn't a match for one of the finest pure wrestlers in the entire NWA. In fact it became borderline ridiculous the amount of cheating and interference Taven had to use to get any kind of advantage over Matthews, Ciampa and Bennett got involved constantly, and while Del Rio provided strong backup he is only 1 man and couldn't keep them both out of there. As Matthews went for a Slurpee Kick in the corner, Taven pulled the ref in the way, as Ciampa and Bennett starting beating the living hell out of Del Rio on the outside. Matthews went to help BUT WAS ATTACKED FROM BEHIND BY CALEB KONLEY! Konley nails Matthews with the Home Wrecker and bails, as Taven crawls over and makes the cover. 1-2-NO, MATTHEWS ESCAPES! Taven takes full advantage of the ref still being down and nails a Low Blow! TAVEN EFFECT! 1-2-3, TAVEN JUST PINNED THE FORMER WORLD CHAMP!
Winner- Matt Taven
Matt Taven celebrates the win like he is already the champ, as Matthews lies knocked out on the canvas and Del Rio lies knocked out outside the ring. The Hybrid Athletes will no doubt be out for revenge, as Taven celebrates a very controversial win which nonetheless is arguably the biggest win of his career to date. it also looks like Caleb Konley may be the newest member of The Pistols!
If O'Reilly Loses, He Leaves Hybrid Pro Forever
Adam Cole vs Kyle O'Reilly
These two were former 2 time NWA World Tag Team Champions together, and following their breakup in South Beach have come to hate each other as bitter rivals. O'Reilly still has that respectful, no nonsense attitude that made him integral to The Revolution, while Cole has gone down a very different route, indeed his arrogance has lead to him becoming one of the most hated men in the NWA as well as the current South Beach TV Champion. These two showed that hatred for each other in a brutal matchup, filled with stiff strikes, aggressive back and forth mat wrestling and a complete disregard for the rules by Cole (though O'Reilly definitely pushed some boundaries here to). The ref did give these two some leeway however, O'Reilly Hybrid Pro career is on the line and there's no way this could end in a DQ. O'Reilly managed to lock the Anklelock, but Cole managed to make it to the ropes. O'Reilly refused to let go, that was until Cole tossed him off and into the referee. With the ref down, a Brainbuster by O'Reilly saw no count. Chuck Taylor ran out and grabbed O'Reilly, nailing the Awful Waffle, before Johnny Gargano closely followed, chasing off Taylor. Cole crawls over, making the cover as the ref comes to, 1-2-NO, O'REILLY KICKS OUT! Cole lifts up O'Reilly, FLORIDA KEY, 1-2-O'REILLY KICKS OUT AGAIN! Cole pounds the mat with frustration as he calls for the Corona Crash. He goes for it but O'Reilly reverses and goes for a German Suplex, BUT COLE SNEAKS A LOW BLOW! CORONA CRASH! 1-2-3, KYLE O'REILLY'S HYBRID PRO CAREER IS OVER!
Winner- Adam Cole
O'Reilly looks dismayed as Cole celebrates with Taylor like he won the world series. The fans give O'Reilly a loud ovation and "thank you Kyle" chants, as he will now head to NWA New Orleans on a permanent basis. Johnny Gargano will have to have a rethink if he is to get any kind of revenge on Adam Cole.
NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament 2nd Round Match
Samoa Joe w/Jaka vs Daniel Puder
Joe got past the challenge of Kazuchika Okada to make it to the 2nd round, while Puder overcame Jessie Godderz to make it to this stage. Puder has dominated Windy City over the past few years, and proved himself as more than a match for Joe, going blow for blow with the hard hitting Samoan. This match actually reminded me a lot of Joe vs Kurt Angle in that it had a certain MMA feel to it, with the two feeling each other out with strikes and both trying to get that killer blow that would take the other down. Finally the man who would do that would be Joe, who out of nowhere nailed a big Enziguri kick to Puder, knocking him down and busting him open in the process. Joe barraged Puder with slaps before locking him in the Choke, which combined with the blood loss from the cut was going to very difficult for Puder to escape from. Puder had no choice but to tap in the end, as Joe advances to the next round!
Winner- Samoa Joe
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match
The Unbreakable FN Machines (Michael Elgin and Brian Cage) vs The Texus (Paul London and Daniel Bryan)
What a main event, this was a fantastic matchup for start to finish, and if anyone had any doubts about Brian Cage's credentials, this match may have put them to rest. Cage looked utterly dominant in there with two of the finest wrestlers on the planet, using his raw power to full effect to throw around London and Bryan with ease, not to mentioning going toe to toe with Bryan on the mat. Elgin also looked like he belonged in there with two of the best in the world, he kept up with both London and Bryan on the mat and could overpower them in the power stakes once again. London and Bryan did not look cohesive, there were a few miscommunications, and while they still showed impressive teamwork and all their talent as individuals, they were not as solid a team overall as The Machines.
After a lengthy period working over Elgin, he escaped and made the tag to Cage, who was an utter house on fire, taking out both London and Bryan with a Double Lariat that turns them inside out. Elgin calls for the Revolution Elgin Bomb, but London manages to reverse to a Hurricanrana that sends Elgin out of the ring and crashing into the barrier as London follows him outside. Bryan takes Cage down with some kicks, then heads up top looking for a Dropkick. But Cage catches Bryan in midair, AND DROPS HIM WITH A BRUTAL POWERBOMB! Cage lifts up Bryan, SECOND POWERBOMB! He still has Bryan, TRIPLE POWERBOMB! 1-2-LONDONS CALLING TO ELGIN BREAKS IT UP! 1-2-CAGE KICKS UP WITH LONDON IN HAND! WEAPON X! Cage puts London on top of Bryan and covers them both, 1-2-3, HOLY SHIT, CAGE JUST BEAT LONDON AND BRYAN BY HIMSELF!
Winners- The Unbreakable FN Machines
The fans are almost in shock but explode for The Unbreakable FN Machines, as London and Bryan argue all the way to the back. Cage and Elgin celebrate on the turnbuckles as the fans chant "Unbreakable" and "Brian Cage", as the show comes to an end. Could we be looking at our next NWA World Champion?
But before we go, Paul Heyman has an announcement. Next week the tournament for the TV Title will begin. Matches for this tournament will be announced shortly, keep your eyes on HybridPro.com. See you next week folks!
NWA Hybrid Pro TV 07/03/2014
