NWA Hybrid Pro TV 14/03/2014
Welcome to this weeks episode of Hybrid Pro TV. Tonight is all about the TV Title Tournament, as we have 8 first round matches. The following are the brackets for the tournament-
Without further ado, lets get straight into the action!
Sean Waltman vs Caleb Konley w/The Pistols
These two wrestled a few weeks ago in a match where Waltman won pretty convincingly. However since then Konley has gained 3 new allies in The Pistols, who have added them to their ranks, and Konley has a new found confidence as a result. Waltman looked as good as ever in there, schooling his young opponent with his crisp mat wrestling and his perfectly timed high flying moves, while Konley did his best to match up and also got The Pistols involved to interfere on his behalf at almost every available opportunity. Waltman finally had enough of The Pistols getting involved, taking them all out with a picture perfect Tope over the top rope onto all of them. A few more near fall exchanges later and Waltman nailed the X-Factor to get the win and advance.
Winner- Sean Waltman
Post match Waltman celebrated, only to be attacked from behind by The Pistols. They beat him down 4 on 1, before Taven nailed him with the Taven Effect. The Pistols walked off carrying Taven on their shoulders, calling him "the real World champ". Taven's out of the World title tournament, I really don't understand this at all, nor the unprovoked attack on Waltman. The Pistols seem more and more determined to destroy their own reputation each week.
"Lightning" Mike Quackenbush vs EC3
Quackenbush certainly provided EC3 with his most difficult challenge to date, Quackenbush is a lot more tough the the local talents EC3 has been facing, and he managed to lock some impressive submissions onto him as well as take him down with his high flying manoeuvres. EC3 however wasn't afraid to take some shortcuts, breaking any rule he could get away with to get an advantage, yet also showed some good skills when he wasn't cheating or posing to the fans. And he would actually advance cleanly over Quackenbush, hitting the One Percenter which got him the 3 count.
Winner- EC3
This means that Sean Waltman and EC3 will face off in the 1st quarter final next week, a grudge match considering EC3 refused to face Waltman last week.
Johnny Gargano is backstage, with something to say.
Gargano: So Adam, Chuck, I suppose you think thats it. I lost to you Adam Cole, and while I beat Chuck Taylor, I know that you won't get back in the ring with me again. That is unless I force your hand. Kyle O'Reilly might be gone from Hybrid Pro, but that doesn't mean I don't have another ally, a man who will help get you back in the ring with me one more time. When that time comes, then god forgive me for what I'm going to do to you Adam. When I want something, I never quit, just ask Kyle Matthews and what used to be The Prophecy. Now I want vengeance, and Adam, trust me, I'm going to get it!"
Low-Ki vs Drew Gulak
A very hard hitting matchup here, with Low-Ki finally having a chance to showcase all the skills that made him a former South Beach Heavyweight Champion. Gulak matched him blow for blow however, he is a former TV Champion and showed what brought him that far in Hybrid Pro in this matchup. It would be Low-Ki who would advance, hitting the Ki Krusher which was enough to keep Gulak down for the count.
Winner- Low-Ki
Kyle Matthews and Alberto Del Rio, The Hybrid Athletes make their way out to a mixed reaction from the fans. Matthews looks like he's going to be outspoken as per usual.
"I hope that you all love watching the various affiliates of the NWA, because if you didn't then you missed something major that went down on CPW's Saturday Night Main Event. My close personal friend Alberto Del Rio advanced in the World Title Tournament, but he didn't do it alone. What man would possibly help the cause of The Hybrid Athletes? Why the newest Hybrid Athlete, Brock Lesnar of course!"
The fans boo, those who saw the match obviously know about Del Rio's controversial victory and indeed the way that former 2 time Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion Karl Anderson got screwed over in the process.
"But this does leave one question unanswered. Why would Brock Lesnar help our cause, I mean I still carry around this chair covered in Lesnar's own blood, a chair I used to beat the living hell out of him in my first major NWA World Heavyweight Title defence, and made everybody in this damn alliance who didn't think I was worthy of that belt step up and take notice! Well its very simple. That match taught Brock Lesnar just how dangerous I was, he realised that I was just as big a threat to him as he is to me. Its the same reason that myself and Alberto Del Rio became tag partners, we had a near year long rivalry that taught us both that we were equals in every department, and combined we could be an even greater threat.
Karl Anderson, I suggest you stay away from The Hybrid Athletes. Remember what I did to you in Hybrid Pro. Remember what my Prophecy did to you, we hung you over the top rope and nearly ended your career and your life. If you know what's good for you, you'll stay away from the three most Hybrid Athletes the NWA has ever seen!"
Matthews and Del Rio leave, some big words coming from Matthews there. How will Karl Anderson react? Is Lesnar definitely a part of The Hybrid Athletes, or just acting on his own terms? And if he is, will we see him show up in Hybrid Pro agaim? We have a lot of questions to be answered.
Kazarian vs Chuck Taylor w/Adam Cole
Kazarian needed to get back on track after losing out to ACH in the debutants 4 way last week, and he had a chance here against Chuck Taylor, who along with Adam Cole has had his hands full with Johnny Gargano. The two had a great back and forth mat based battle, albeit Cole at ringside got involved constantly to help out Taylor, basically trying to flat out screw Kazarian out of the match. Johnny Gargano then came out, distracting the ref for some reason. We then find out that reason as UHAA NATION LEAPS OUT OF THE CROWD! He grabs Taylor and nails the Uhaa Combination, then hits a Suicide Dive on the outside to Adam Cole! Kazarian picks up Taylor, AVE OF THE FUTURE! 1-2-3, Kazarian advances!
Winner- Kazarian
So Low-Ki and Kazarian will be taking each other on in the second quarter final, a big matchup for both men. Meanwhile Cole and Taylor now have their hands full with Johnny Gargano and his new tag partner, Uhaa Nation!
Jaka w/Samoa Joe vs Jigsaw
Jaka looked more aggressive than he did last week in this one, after Samoa Joe slapped the hell out of him last week, he wanted to prove that he had learned from that matchup. Jigsaw gave Jaka a competitive matchup with lots of crisp high flying, but Jaka largely dominated and had a chance to showcase all the skills that made Joe step up and take notice of him in the first place. Jaka would lock The Jaws of the Jaguar which made Jigsaw tap out.
Winner- Jaka
Chris Dickinson vs Michael Elgin w/Brian Cage
As you would expect, this one was a hard hitting matchup, exactly what you would expect from two of the more vicious wrestlers on the entire roster. Elgin however didn't seem like he was interested in the match itself, instead he just wanted to beat the hell out of Dickinson, to the extent that he pretty much ignored the referee and did whatever he wished to take Dickinson down. Finally when Elgin started smashing Dickinson with a chair as Cage joined in, the ref had no choice but to throw the match out.
Winner- Chris Dickinson by DQ
Post match Cage and Elgin just continue to beat the hell out of Dickinson, showing no mercy on him at all. Elgin takes the mic.
Elgin: Do you think I honestly give a shit about the TV Title? Look what we did to Paul London and Daniel Bryan last week, they aren't even here tonight they got beat so badly. What makes anybody in this fucking tournament think they are on our level? Consider our last few weeks a message Rockstars of Wrestling, when Brian Cage win the World Title, we're coming for you next. That's the same to you Pistols, we want all the belts. There's nothing that can stop the Unbreakable FN Machines from breaking everybody in our path, and if you think otherwise, I dare you to take the Unbreakable challenge!
The Machines walk off as Dickinson lies knocked out on the canvas, the latest victim of The Unbreakable FN Machines. Jaka and Chris Dickinson will do battle in another grudge match in our 3rd quarter final.
ACH vs Biff Busick
ACH made a massive impact last week in his debut, overcoming 3 considerably more experienced opponents on his way to a debut win. He had another tough challenge here against Biff Busick, a tremendously hard hitting competitor who while not often on the winning end of things here in Hybrid Pro, has definitely made an impact. Busick beat the hell out of ACH for much of this, but ACH refused to quit, showing that explosive, exciting aerial offense of his whenever the opportunity arose. ACH would advance by hitting his Best 450 Ever after the Big Bang Attack.
Winner- ACH
Sami Zayn head for the ring, for an in ring interview with Lenny Leonard.
Leonard: Sami Zayn, you've had a lot of unique challengers for that title lately, yet you've held off every one. What's next for you here in Hybrid Pro?
Zayn: Well Lenny, I've taken on all challengers, but the great thing about being a champion is that there's always a new challenge around the corner. I know that Mike Quackenbush is planning on bringing some more talent to Hybrid Pro, and I will defend against any of them. A lot of new guys have joined recently and I'll put the belt on the line against all of them. I am open to all challengers!
Before Leonard can ask his next question, the lights start to flicker then go out entirely. A pyro goes off and an image appears on the titantron:
The lights eventually come back on, AND LEONARD AND ZAYN ARE BOTH LAID OUT IN A POOL OF THEIR OWN BLOOD! Officials run out and frantically attend to both, what in the hell was that? Who is behind these messages, and what sort of power must they have to do this to 2 people in such a short space of time?
Shane Hollister vs Austin Aries
Our main event saw a former TV champ in Aries battle a top young competitor in Hollister. These two actually proved to be very evenly matched up, Hollister may not have the experience of Aries but he definitely had the skills. I would say that Aries had the advantage overall on the mat, but when the pace picked up Hollister more than held his own. Hollister actually managed to lock the Iowa Leglock, and had it not been for a fortunate rope break, Hollister could have pulled off a massive upset. Aries however was able to fight back, nail the Brainbuster and follow it with a picture perfect 450 to get 3 and take the final spot in the quarter finals.
Winner- Austin Aries
What a final quarter final we have lined up, ACH and Austin Aries are sure to put on a classic against each other. Make sure to tune in next week for the remaining tournament matches, plus much more. See you next week folks!
