"Windy City On Tour" #15 - Springfield, IL (10/05/14)
Tour Show Report by Smart Mark
Fresh on the heels of the NWA iPPV Spring Stampede Windy City was back on the road with a show held in Springfield.
I'd heard that Daniel Puder has left Windy City for a little while after coming up just short in his title match against Chris Masters at the NWA PPV and is on tour over in NWA Japan so I was a little disappointed he was not in attendance tonight, as I'm a fan of the heels, and he is a great heel. This could be good for Puder though, he will come back to WCPW refreshed having experienced new challenges and opponents and no doubt still has things to settle with Masters so I'm looking forward to his return.
The other Windy City guy on the NWA iPPV Mark Jindrak though was in the house tonight fresh off his big non title win over Masters on the Countdown Special and his valiant match of the night effort against Harry Smith on the big show, so I was looking forward to seeing how Jindrak performed tonight.
So Cal Val announces tonight's main-event, a big 6-man tag featuring Masters, Travis and a returning from injury Rey Mysterio against Jindrak, Swagger and Carlito. She then informed us that the Powers That Be want to see the 3 teams that are in the Tag Title mix at the moment face off in 2 separate single triple threat matches. So we started off with these bouts which got the crowd warmed up.
1. "Rock Hard" Dick Ryder def. Jey Uso & Mike Knox with Ryder pinning Knox with The Gay Basher
2. Tyson T-Bone def. Jimmy Uso & Jeffery "Ohh-La-La" Flockhart when he pinned Flockhart after a Choke Slam.
3. Trent Baretta def. Sean Waltman via a victory roll. Waltman seemed very disapointed with the loss after his debut victory last week. Waltman looked like his took the loss hard as his upward momentum stalls. Baretta meanwhile debuts in style with a good performance that makes me want to see more of him and see where he can go in Windy City.
4. Ron Shen w/Steve Blackman def Jaka with a Karate Kick to the head.
*Ron Shen seemed super intense and pysched-up by Blackman and he destroyed Samoa Joe's former protogee Jaka here showing no remorse after previous weeks of mental lapses.
5. "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen def. Rockstar Spud by pinfall with the Steenalizer
*Showcase match here for Steen after his recent series of classics with Rob Van Dam.
6. "The Elite Diva" Paige [Womens Champ] and "The Terrier" April Davids went to a double-countout when both girls fought to the outside.
7. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters, "Shooting Star" Kris Travis & Rey Mysterio def. Mark Jindrak, Jack Swagger & Carlito when Travis pins Swagger after a sun-set flip.
*Fresh main-event here with some new talent elevated.
*Kris Travis finally pins Jack Swagger after many singles losses to him, but this was tag-action, can he beat him in singles I'm sure they will meet again now.
*Dave Rayne interfered against Carlito and tried to snatch back the Cyber-TV Title belt but Carlito managed to escape with the belt leaving Swagger and Jindrak up against it.
*Mysterio didn't do too much of note, just a few simple spots. He looked a bit fat. Looks like he was returning to action a little early here.
*Masters and Jindrak looked very competitive and equal against each other during their battles, I smell a feud developing here.
