I just want to warn you in advance, I had way too much fun writing the opening segment of this show .
NWA New York 24/05/2014: The Extreme League
The show begins with Dave Prazak at the announcers table.
Prazak: Hello wrestling fans and welcome to NWA New York's Extreme League. Before we begin proceedings tonight we can go live to none other than Booker T. Booker, how are things?
We see Booker T on the titantron, who appears to be on a plane.
Booker: Hell yes dawg, I'm in the air and safe from that magic Undertaker guy, he scared the hell out of me with his laight switching off and on and killing people. I don't want nothing to do with him sucka.
Prazak: Well that's fair enough I suppose Booker. So I hear your flying to Chicago, what are you going to do over there?
Booker: Oh tell me you did not just say that, now he's going to know where i am sucka.....
The lights on the plane go out and screams can be heard.
Booker: Oh my goodness! NO NO NO!
A spotlight comes back on and The Undertaker is face to face with a terrified Booker T, a sadistic, almost troll faced grin on his face. He looks ready to torture Booker some more before we hear a voice.
Prazak: BOOKER, BOOKER!
Booker wakes up and realises he was asleep the entire time and was ignoring Prazak.
Booker: Oh my goodness, is he still here, I don't wanna die yet sucka.
Prazak: No, who's here Booker? All I was asking you was if you were enjoying your time away from NWA New York.
Booker: Oh. Well I'm doing just fine dawg. But listen I'm real tired sucka from all this Undertaker business, so can ya do me a favour and let me be.
Prazak: Very well Booker, thanks for your time.
Booker goes back to sleep as the camera peels back and reveals Booker isn't even on a plane, is just a set they setup backstage.
Prazak: Well let's get to the Extreme League, and our first round matches. This is going to be a very wild night.
The brackets are as follows-
Michael Elgin heads for the ring with a look of intensity on his face, before Dr Thug and Fandango come out onto the ramp. Fandango is still under the control of Dr Thug.
Thug: HAHAHAHA! What's the joke you ask? Fandango is. You see not only did nobody step up to save poor sir dancealot here from his grizzly fate of being thrown off a bridge, nobody even cared! Not a single person cares whether Fandango lives or dies, not even his own family, HAHAHAHAHA!
The fans boo, though don't seem to care all that much, only backing up Dr Thug's statement. Poor Fandango.
Thug: But you know what, I'm NOT going to kill Fandango just yet. You see the best way to make you care is to have him take my place in this match, win this entire tournament under my control and then defeat the World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe, becoming the first remote controlled World champion in history. And THEN I'll throw him off the bridge and take the belt for myself, HAHAHAHAHA!
What a dastardly plan by Dr Thug, who makes Fandango dance all the way to the ring and get in to fight with Elgin, who looks rather perplexed by this development.
NWA New York Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round
Michael Elgin vs Fandango w/Dr Thug
Elgin didn't really have all that much trouble here, as while the novelty of the first ever remote controlled professional wrestler is quite the thing to see, controlling Fandango wasn't easy for Thug, especially since most o the programming was used for dance moves as opposed to wrestling holds. Elgin beat the hell out of Fandango for most of this, not even needing to use weapons before hitting the Revolution Elgin Bomb, with the referee declaring that Fandango's bizarre ground based dance moves were not being performed by him but by the remote control and thus he was knocked out.
Winner- Michael Elgin
Elgin leaves as Fandango makes his way to his feet to find he has free movement again, it appears that the Revolution Elgin Bomb damaged the controls! Fandango celebrates and looks to run away, only for Dr Thug to inject him with a syringe of green liquid to sedate him. Thug drags Fandango backstage as it looks like his torture is to continue when Thug makes some modifications to the controls.
We cut back to Dave Prazak
Prazak: Well it looks like I now have a broadcast colleague again as I am joined at the broadcast booth by none other than Corporate Commissioner Kane, who is running for the presidency of the United States of America. Kane, what do you think of the tournament so far.
Kane: Its been great Dave, lots of violence which you know I love, though it could do with some blood and somebody getting set on fire. Not that any of those would be part of my political strategy if I was elected president.
Prazak: That's a relief as I like not being on fire. Lets continue with the tournament.
James Storm is out, drinking a beer and looking fired up for the match. Colt Cabana then comes out in a fat suit and an ill fitting singlet, and has the announcer announce him as "Cabraden Walker". Storm just laughs, clearly enjoying the mocking of his former tag partner as our next match begins.
NWA New York Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round
Cabraden Walker vs James Storm
A total comedy match as you would expect, as Storm was more than happy to join in with the comedy here. "Cabraden Walker" struggled at even moving around the ring because of how out of shape he was, getting blown up every few seconds. Storm looked good and controlled much of the match, looking like he'd pull out an easy win. That was until out of nowhere Cabraden Walker charges with a chair and smashes it over Storm's head! Storm manages to make it to his feet but looks pissed off and grabs his beer bottle, SMASHING IT OVER HIS HEAD! Cabraden Walker doesn't have an answer and is busted open, meaning Storm advances!
Winner- James Storm
Prazak: Well I guess James Storm saw the funny side, until "Cabraden Walker" pulled that fast one on him. Colt Cabana goes out but he certainly entertained.
Kane: Well it was a lot of fun to watch Prazak, but I'd like to have seen Storm use something else that a beer bottle to win this one, perhaps some matches and lighter fluid if you know what I mean.
Prazak: Yes i do know what you mean Kane. Lets go our next matchup.
NWA New York Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round
JTG vs Brian Cage
This match was bizarrely a non-event, as JTG came out, pulled out a piece of paper and looked it over. He then said to Cage "Your not on the list" before leaving and getting counted out. What the hell?
Winner- Brian Cage
Prakak: Well I don't know what to make of that, Brian Cage advances but JTG appears to have some kind of list he's referring to. What's this all about do you think Kane?
Kane: I don't know Dave and I'm not sure I care if it involves JTG. So far we've had a remote controlled wrestler, a comedy match and a match that never even got started. This is the Extreme League Dave, where's the blood and guts and people getting set on fire?
Prazak: Come on Kane, look on the bright side, Matt Hardy is up next against Brodus Clay!
Kane: *groans*
NWA New York Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round
Matt Hardy "Version 1.0" w/"Number 1 MF'er" Shannon Moore vs Brodus Clay
Matt Fact of the day: Matt can speak over 20 languages fluently. That didn't help him here, as while Hardy may have been on a mission to win this tournament for all of his Mattitude followers around the world, Brodus Clay was in no mood to play ball. Clay used his power to destroy Hardy, tossing him around with some suplexes and a massive Powerbomb. Clay then grabbed a chair as Shannon Moore tried to stop him, only to eat a Clothesline. CLAY LEVELS HARDY WITH A VICIOUS CHAIRSHOT! Clay then placed the chair over Hardy and climbed to the top rope, VADER BOMB ON THE CHAIR! There was no way Hardy was getting up from that, total domination by Clay!
Winner- Brodus Clay
Prazak: Well Matt Hardy was utterly destroyed there, a dominant performance by Clay.
Kane: Very impressive, that's what I've been waiting to see. Brodus Clay may win this entire tournament if he can keep performing like that!
Lets take a look at the semi final brackets in the Extreme League-
The NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Champion James Gibson makes his way to the ring to a big ovation from the fans. He get the mic.
"First of all, thank you all, this belt is my ticket back to being something in the sport I love again, and I'm gonna do my best to prove it to everybody. Everybody wants to know when I'm gonna challenge Daniel Bryan. Well boy, I'm challenging you on iPPV on Saturday the 31st of May. I'll give you the match of your life boy, may the best man win!"
The fans again respond, and thats going to be a great matchup.
"But there's another reason I came out here tonight, and that is to talk about 1 man: Paul London. Boy, you think you can disrespect me and all the other great junior heavyweights with what you did last week. The NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title is an important belt son, its just as important at the World Heavyweight Title. And this belt I hold right here will mean just as much as the New York Heavyweight Title will no matter who wins it. I'm challenging you boy, you think your above me, well when I beat you I'll be the above you when your lying on the canvas looking at the lights!"
Gibson leaves and that is a big challenge he has laid out. Will London respond?
NWA New York Heavyweight Title Tournament Semi Final
Michael Elgin vs James Storm
For both men this was a considerably more extreme contest than their first round matchups, this turned into a fantastic brawl which mixed the no rules format with some great wrestling. The two exchanged some holds early on before the fists started flying, with Storm being the superior brawler while Elgin had the advantage on the mat. Elgin used his power to great effect here, throwing Storm into the ring barrier with a Belly to Belly Suplex, and dropping him with a brutal Piledriver on the ring apron! Storm fought back by bring weapons into it, firstly smashing Elgin with his beer bottle to escape a Revolution Elgin Bomb on the floor, then grabbing a chair and smashing Elgin with it multiple times, bending the chair out of shape in the process. A table was setup in the corner by Storm, and he also setup another in the middle of the ring. He went for a Spear on Elgin through the table, but Elgin reverses to a waistlock, then a GERMAN SUPLEX THROUGH THE TABLE! Elgin thought that might be it but Storm somehow made it to his feet! Elgin grabs the chair and looks for some payback on Storm for earlier, but misses and Storm his a chair assisted Last Call! Elgin almost got counted down by the ref but made it to his feet! Storm looks for an Eye of the Storm through the table but Elgin escapes, and goes for a Powerbomb through the table, but Storm escapes. Storm grabs Elgin and charges for the corner, going for the Swinging Noose through the table, but Elgin grabs Storm, REVOLUTION ELGIN BOMB THROUGH THE TABLE! That was enough to keep Storm down for good, Elgin advances!
Winner- Michael Elgin
Post match Elgin and Storm shake hands after a very exciting brawl, match of the tournament so far for sure.
NWA New York Heavyweight Title Tournament Semi Final
Brian Cage vs Brodus Clay
Its very rare to see Cage out matches in terms of power, but in Clay he faced someone who towered over him and proved in the previous round that he was very dangerous. Cage went on the offensive straight away, firing away with quick strikes that barely phased Clay. He goes for a Slam, but Clay simply shoves him off, then takes him down with a massive Lariat that sends him to the outside. Clay took full control and dominated once again, no mean feat against Cage who is one of the most dominant performers in the NWA in recent times. Cage managed to escape and then grabbed a chair, SMASHING Clay with it and breaking the chair, BUT CLAY DOESN'T EVEN MOVE! He throws the chair at Clay and that stumbles him slightly, then grabs Clay AND SLAMS HIM! Cage goes up top, BLACK MAGIC! Cage stumbles to the ropes and prays that this is it, but Clay makes his way back to his feet before the ref can count him out. Cage goes for the Discus Lariat, but Clay grabs Cage, EXPLODER ONTO THE STEEL CHAIR! Clay grabs a table as Cage struggles to get up, he's done well to last this long but this could be the end. He sets it up and grabs Cage, G-GRIP THROUGH THE TABLE! Cage is out, and Clay celebrates, but at 9 Cage somehow makes it up again, how is he doing this. Clay charges and hit the Fall of Humanity, then gets another steel chair from ringside. He sandwiches Cage between the two chairs and climbs to the second rope. VADER BOMB! Cage isn't getting up from that and Clay advances in utterly brutal fashion once again!
Winner- Brodus Clay
Prazak: Well we have seen two utterly fantastic semi final matchups Kane, filled with the extreme action we expected. Who's your pick for the final?
Kane: I can't go for anyone else than Brodus Clay, he has looked unstoppable and I think he's going to burn Elgin in a big way here in our final.
Prazak: I personally think that Elgin will overcome the odds and pull this one out of the bag, but it won't be easy. And Brodus is actually signalling for the match to start right now, he's ready to go.
Indeed Brodus doesn't want any kind of rest, he's calling for Elgin to come down and he obliges, as our final gets under way.
NWA New York Heavyweight Title Tournament Final
Michael Elgin vs Brodus Clay
Elgin takes the same approach and goes straight on the attack, firing away with some massive forearms that barely even phase Brodus. He hits a backfist that actually does manage to wobble him a bit, then goes for a lariat that wobbles him further. He goes for a second that again makes his shake but he still doesn't go down, so he grabs Clay AND DROPS HIM WITH A BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX ONTO A CHAIR! The fans chant "holy shit" at Elgin's raw power as he makes full use of that chair from the last match, smashing Clay repeatedly with it while he's on the canvas. He looks for the countout but Clay manages to get up. Elgin looks for a Revolution Elgin Bomb but there's no way he can get Clay up for that as Clay overpowers him and takes him down. Clay proceeds to lay another beating on Elgin, using that power of his and again making use of a chair, caving in Elgin's skull with it. Clay gets a table and ses up for something through it, but Elgin escapes out of the ring, AND PULLS OUT A BARBED WIRE BAT! He smashes Clay with it repeatedly, still not taking him down but he is in agony from the shots. Elgin smashes his legs with the bat, causing him to wobble and shake, then eventually fall THROUGH THE TABLE! Elgin pulls a piece of the barbed wire off of the bat and locks it around Clay's face, BARBED WIRE ASSISTED CROSSFACE! Clay holds on but eventually is forced to say he quits to avoid permanent damage from that barbed wire wrapped around his face. ELGIN SOMEHOW DOES IT!
Winner- Michael Elgin
Elgin stumbles to his feet, he went through a war here but somehow overcame the odds to win it. The ref hands him the belt and he now has a shot at the World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe!
Prazak: Michael Elgin is the NEW NWA New York Heavyweight Champion, he had to throw utterly everything at Clay but he managed to do it in the end. Your final thoughts o nthe tournament Kane?
Kane: I was very impressed, while I'd loved to have seen big bad Brodus Clay go over I think Michael Elgin will be a great champ. I'll book him some big time opponents so I hope he's ready for some red hot title defences.
Prazak: Well that's all from us, we will see you on Saturday for our iPPV spectacular as Daniel Bryan defend the World Junior Heavyweight Title against James Gibson and Michael Elgin challenges Samoa Joe for the World Heavyweight Title. Plus we will also crown out first Tag Team Champions and much more. See you then wrestling fans.
We end the show with Elgin celebrating some more, UNTIL BRODUS CLAY ATTACKS FROM BEHIND! He smacks Elgin in the back with the barbed wire bat and smashes him some more with it. He pulls Elgin into position and puts a chair over him. VADER BOMB! Clay grabs the belt, straps it around his waist and walks away, ending our show by stealing the belt. See you on Saturday wrestling fans!
