"Windy City On Tour" #16 - Peoria, IL(29/05/14)
Tour Show Report by Smart Mark
With the show scheduling of Windy City changing recently, this was the "B Show" of the Tour Shows this month as WCPW entered a new market in Peoria, Illinois with a smaller sized show than normal. The show which will be part-televised on tape delay went down as below;
1. Gaydar (Dick Ryder & Jeffery "Ohhh-La-La" Flockhart) def. Tag Team Champions, The Only Way Is Beards (Mike Knox & Tyson T-Bone) w/"The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart by pinfall in a non-title match when rival tag team The Uso's got involved with Jay distracting the ref by accident on the outside and Jimmy Hart while Jeff hit a splash on T-Bone. Dick Ryder followed up to hit his Gay Basher finisher on T-Bone to score the victory. Ryder celebrated by forcing his partner Jeffery Flockhart to hold onto his out-turned pocket behind him as he motioned to his waist that they would soon be champions.
'm not sure what to make of the Gaydar tag team yet.
~Crash Test Dummy proclaimed it was now the era of the Crash Test Dummy after his big iPPV win over Kevin Nash and came down to the ring accompanied by several jobbers and local talent guys who would serve to protect their leader. Dummy told the live crowd he would soon be going for gold in NWA Windy City now that he's such a big star in the region.
2. Crash Test Dummy w/several jobbers lost by DQ to Kevin Nash in a short match, when Nash fought through the squadron of jobbers to get to Crash but CTD escaped through the crowd.
~We saw Sean Waltman looking a bit dejected backstage after his loss on the last show to Trent Barretta. As we all know Sean is on a year long quest to finally win major gold in the NWA and time is running out fast. Paul Heyman entered the room and walked up to Waltman says that it was always a crime why "the kid" was considered "a good hand" but too small for the main spot-light and the real money positions. Heyman asked Waltman if he ever considered...using a helping hand...during his career in terms of his physique and strength.
Waltman says he's dabbled in other illegal stuff as has been widely documented, but he's never taken any performance enhancing drugs and does not believe in them. If he can't win legally and clean he'd rather not win at all. Heyman says that's fine if he wants to continue being a loser, pauses and then wishes Waltman good luck in his match tonight against Ron Shen!
3. Rey Mysterio def. Carlito by pinfall when "I Am" Dave Rayne interfered and tried to steal back the Cyber TV Title belt that Carlito has stolen - the title belt that belongs to "John Doe" that is!
Carlito was getting the better of a fresh off the injured list Mysterio but Rey took the win here and didn't look too much like he minded the circumstances in which it came to be honest which was surprising for a face.
4. Ron Shen w/Steve Blackman def. Sean Waltman with a Karate Kick in a good ten minute match in which Waltman gave it his all but came up short against an intense, focused Ron Shen. Waltman looked despondent that he had lost again post-match.
~Paul Heyman comes down to ringside and passing Waltman is heard saying to him that he "should consider his options". Heyman is seemingly down at ringside for the next bout and is scouting the main-event, the commentators wonder who he's scouting.
Main-Event
5. Kris Travis & Heavyweight Champ Chris Masters def. Mark Jindrak & Jack Swagger when Chris Masters makes Swagger submit to the Master-Lock.
~Travis tells Swagger that's now 2 in a row for him against Swagger, but Swagger retorts by saying he's never beaten him in singles compettion...asking him what is it 5-0 now? Travis asks for a singles match but Swagger turns him down saying he's not getting the match.
While this is going on Mark Jindrak sneak attacks Masters from behind hitting the Mark of Excellence on Masters.
Seems like they are building towards a Masters title defense against Jindrak. Mark Jindrak has done well recently in Windy City and his stock rose with the NWA North American Title match against Harry Smith on NWA PPV but I think he needs to be more of a threat to Masters but I'm sure this will become more prevalent as the weeks go on. The Travis and Swagger series though is interesting and a refreshing long term way to get new talent over and keep the veterans strong.
