Managed to get this up a bit earlier than expected as my flu is improving, I'm a lot better than I've been. I'd appreciate any comments or feedback you can give.
NWA New York Presents Night Of Champions Live on iPPV: 31/05/2014
Dave Prazak open our show once again, and Booker T is back from his vacation with him.
Prazak: Hello wrestling fans and welcome to Night of Champions. We are live on iPPV for a big night of action, as the NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan and the World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe are both here for big title defences against James Gibson and Michael Elgin respectively. And they aren't the only ones in the house as I am joined at ringside by the returning Booker T. Booker, its great to see you back.
Booker: Oh my goodness it is great to be back Dave, I missed commentating wit you last week when I was hiding from that magic Undertaker guy, but he's not here tonight and my life is safe dawg.
Prazak: Well that's good to hear Booker. The question on everybody's minds right now is not what Michael Elgin will do to get his title back, what Brodus Clay will do tonight or if Elgin or James Gibson will win NWA World gold tonight, but one much more exciting that those. That question is, Booker, who's in your fave 5 this week?
Booker: I am so glad you asked me Prazak because I have been thinking about my fave 5 for all these weeks now and I have it right here. Number 5 is Harry Smith, he's doing a great job in CPW with that NA belt. 4 is James Gibson, his comeback is on and he could be the guy in 2014 for sure dawg. Number 3 is Bray Wyatt, that man is scary without having to do that magic act that Undertaker does, which is scary in itself. Number 2 is Brodus Clay, he's not the champ but he's the man now dawg. And number 1 is of course my man D-Bryan, the Junior Heavyweight Champ for nearly a year sucka.
Prazak: Thanks for that Booker, now let's head to the ring for our first match.
Junior Heavyweight Title Contenders Match
Jimmy Yang vs Justin Gabriel vs Kazarian vs The Hurricane
For all of the exciting fast paced action you had here, the real excitement was around the return of The Hurricane, a former 7 time World Junior Heavyweight Champion and a true legend of Junior Heavyweight wrestling here in the NWA. He looked as good as he has ever done, combining with 3 other overlooked names in the juniors division in recent times for a great opening contest that wowed the fans. It would end up being Hurricane Helms going over, as he hat the Eye of the Hurricane on Yang for the 3 count.
Winner- The Hurricane
Prazak: So next week on NWA New York TV, The Hurricane will challenge James Gibson for the NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title. The question is, will it also be for the World Junior Heavyweight Title?
Booker: Well I don't know dawg, the match hasn't happened yet.
Prazak: *Sighs, let's just get to the next match.
Everybody makes their way down to the ring for the Heavyweight Title Contender matchup. Last to make his way down is Colt Cabana who is in his regular gear this week, joking with fans on his way down the ramp. He goes to shake hands with a fan ONLY FOR THE FAN TO PUNCH HIM! The fan leaps the guardrail AND ITS CHRIS HARRIS! Harris starts beating the hell out of Cabana and looks in the best shape he has been in for years, though this doesn't stop the crowd immediately breaking out into "knock knock, who's there, Braden Walker" chants. Harris drags Cabana to the ramp, CATATONIC! Harris leaves via the crowd as officials tend to Cabana, he is now out of this matchup, with Storm looking very conflicted by this.
Prazak: Wow, Chris Harris attacks Colt Cabana, who clearly didn't take too kindly to Cabana mocking him last week.
Booker: I think that Colt Cabana's bitten off more than he can chew dawg, Chris Harris looks good and I think he's gonna knock his brain out sucka.
Heavyweight Title Contenders Match
James Storm vs Brian Cage vs Fandango w/Dr Thug
Dr Thug once again had Fandango under remote control, but it looked like he was having trouble getting them to work properly after they were damaged last week, as Fandango walked into the turnbuckle repeatedly, slammed the referee and fell out of the ring before attacking the rail with some dancing kicks. This left Storm and Cage to battle it out, with the two having a good brawl and exchanging some fun back and forth technical stuff to, a very entertaining bout from them. Fandango managed to get back in the ring eventually and even hat a few moves, but the two had no trouble taking him out and continuing their battle. As we came towards our climax, Brodus Clay walked towards the ring. He turns Fandango inside out with a massive Lariat as Dr Thug runs for the hills and the ref calls for a DQ.
Winner- No Contest
Brodus stares down the ref, BEFORE NAILING HIM WITH THE FALL OF HUMANITY! That's Brodus's paycheque for tonight gone. Storm grabs his beer bottle and smashes it over Brodus's head, AND BRODUS DOESN'T GO DOWN! Brodus grabs Storm and drops him with the G-Grip. Cage then attacks and goes for a Discus Lariat, but Clay avoids it and nails him with an Exploder Suplex. He piles Fandango, Storm and Cage on top of each other and climbs to the top, VADER BOMB! Brodus has just taken out all three participants in this match, and we don't have an number one contender to the NWA New York Heavyweight Title now it seems, a title that Clay wrongfully has in his possession I might add.
After Brodus leaves, Dr Thug rushes back to the ring and grabs a mic.
Thug: AHAHAHAHA! Brodus Clay, you may have destroyed my creation, but I will repair him and he will be back next week. And not only that, next week I will have for you my greatest creation yet, something that no mere man is capable of stopping: a wrestling terminator. AHAHAHAHA!
Well that's going to be interesting, though I don't really believe its going to be that scary if Thug is involved. I will hope to be pleasantly surprised however.
Booker T makes his way into the ring.
Booker: Yes oh yes its time for another match for Booker T. I'll wrestle anybody sucka and I'll even commentate while I do it. Bring my opponent out here dawg.
A local jobber heads for the ring and is ready to accept the challenge, thats until the lights go out.
Booker: WHAT DA HALE?
There's a puff of smoke and when the lights come back on the jobber is gone, BUT THE UNDERTAKER IS WHERE HE WAS STANDING! The fans go nuts and Booker is horrified.
Booker: Oh my goodness, please don't kill me dawg.
The Undertaker doesn't even need a mic, he simply uses the power of the darkside to amplify his voice.
Undertaker: Booker T, your time has come!
Booker: I'll do anything to make up for whatever I did sucka, just please let me live.
Undertaker: You want to know what it was that you did to upset the Lord of Darkness? Well Booker, I will tell you. You parked your car in MY car parking space two weeks ago!
Booker: Oh my goodness I did not think he would notice that I did that. I'm sorry sucka, I won't do it again if you let me live.
Undertaker: Well that's good enough for me Booker, you've learned your lesson and I will let you live this time. My real beef is with Kane and I don't have a problem with you, other than you are clearly a complete coward who is afraid of the dark. Now leave me and the creatures of the night to deal with this menace IN PEACE.
Booker looks just as terrified and seemingly believes his life is still at risk.
Booker: Please no, I got a wife and kids sucka.
Undertaker: *signs" Oh to hell with it.
Undertaker kills the lights again, there is a puff of smoke and when the lights come back on Booker T is gone! The Undertaker poses to the cheers of the fans before heading for Dave Prazak and joining him on commentary.
Prazak: Wow, well hello Undertaker, its great that you've decided to join me at ringside
Undertaker: Thank you Dave, I figured with Booker T occupied with the creatures of the night, you would need some assistance.
Prazak: Well let's get to our next match which is for the vacant NWA New York Tag Team Titles.
NWA New York Tag Team Title TLC Match
The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs Mattitude (Matt Hardy "Version 1.0 and "Number 1 MF'er" Shannon Moore) vs The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)
Matt fact of the day: Matt has held over 200 different tag team titles in his career to date. Tables, ladders and chairs all are legal in this matchup, with the title belts hanging above the ring and the champs being the first to grab and pull those belts down. As you would expect, this was fast paced and full of high risk moves involving the various weapons, with the Bucks pulling off a Double Springboard Dropkick onto Hardy in the corner with chairs over his face, both Shelley and Nick being pushed off a ladder through a table on the outside of the ring, and of course lots of big time dives off the ladder. The most impressive of these had to be Shannon Moore's performing the Halo off the top of the ladder onto Sabin. With bodies lying everywhere and carnage going on throughout, the match ended up with Shelley and Matt battling on the ladder for the belt, until Hardy charged into and took Matt down with a Side Effect off the ladder THROUGH A TABLE! It was now Hardy and Shelley battling on the ladder for the title. Hardy wobbled and nearly fell off as Shelley went for the gold, until Moore came back in and held onto Shelley's leg. Hardy stomped away on Shelley hand and Moore pulled him off the ladder as Hardy climbed to the top and grabbed the titles, Mattitude are our first Tag Team Champions!
Winners- Mattitude
Prazak: Mattitude pick up the titles, and what a matchup that was Undertaker.
Undertaker: Utter carnage here Dave, I'm surprised that everybody lived to tell the tale. Any more risks and I could have been very busy at the funeral parlour.
Prazak: Indeed, now we have top interviewer Gregory Helms, who has managed to catch up with JTG.
Ace reporter Gregory Helms is indeed backstage with JTG
Helms: Hello wrestling fans, ace reporter Gregory Helms here. JTG, last week you walked out on your match with Brian Cage, watsupwitdat?
JTG: His name wasn't on the list.
Helms: Well, what is the list?
JTG: The list is a list of guys that my boss wants taken out. Its my job to do what the boss wants, and when the opportunity arises those who are on the list will be "disposed of".
Helms: Who is this boss exactly?
JTG: That is classified information.
Helms: OK, well can you at least give us an example of somebody who's on the list?
JTG: That is also classified information.
Helms: Well I'm not going to get anything more out of you clearly, but at least now your reasons are a bit more clear. Back to you Prazak.
We cut back to Dave Prazak and The Undertaker.
Prazak: Thanks Gregory, now its time for our World Junior Heavyweight Title Match between Daniel Bryan and James Gibson.
NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title Match
Daniel Bryan vs James Gibson
What a matchup this one turned out to be, a real game of human chess that provided well over 30 minutes of tremendous wrestling action. The first 5-10 minutes of this one was just back and forth matwork, with neither man really taking an advantage either way and the crowd utterly engrossed. The two then started putting their own strategies to work, as Bryan targeted the head and neck of Gibson with holds and kicks, clearly looking to setup for the Yes Lock, while Gibson targeted the leg of Bryan in order to weaken it for the Trailer Hitch. Bryan's strategy looked to be the one that was paying off, as Gibson slowed down and started really favouring that neck as Bryan went into the ascendancy. Yet despite everything he hat, Gibson refused to quit, he wouldn't tap to the Yes Lock and even managed to kick out of the Running Knee. Then it seemingly all came together as Bryan climbed to the top rope, very slowly as that knee was beginning to bother him. He went for the Diving Headbutt, but Gibson rolled out of the way AND KICKED UP TO HIS FEET! The fans explode AS GIBSON LOCKS THE TRAILER HITCH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING! Bryan has nowhere to go and can't make the ropes, he's ready to tap! BUT HERE COMES PAUL LONDON, LONDONS CALLING TO GIBSON! That's a DQ and Gibson has had his title dream stolen from him at the last minute.
Winner- James Gibson by DQ
London continues the beatdown post match before taking the mic.
London: So you think your big enough to challenge me James Gibson? Your nothing more than a washed up has been, you don't have half the talent that I have which is why your a junior heavyweight. You want to challenge me you junior, well I accept, I'll prove that I'm better than you and all the other lightweights in this company, then my place as the top HEAVYWEIGHT competitor in NWA New York will be assured! Then Samoa Joe, I'll be coming for your title!
London throws down the mic and Bryan has made his way to his feet. The two haven an intense staredown and Bryan shakes his head and leaves, clearly ashamed with the behaviour of his former tag team partner and fellow Texas Wrestling Academy graduate.
We cut backstage to Michael Elgin, who is with ace reporter Gregory Helms.
Helms: Michael Elgin, tonight you challenge Samoa Joe for the NWA World Heavyweight Title, but I see you don't have your NWA New York Heavyweight belt with you, watsupwitdat?
Elgin: Whats up with that Gregory is that it was stolen from me by Brodus Clay, after I beat him clean in the middle of the ring last week he decided to beat me down and take it away for himself. You might have won the battle Brodus, but I'm going to win the war. You see tonight I'm going to defeat Samoa Joe and become the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion, then I'm going to go after you Brodus and take back what is rightfully mine. You may have beaten me down last week Brodus, but you didn't break me, because I'm UNBREAKABLE! And when I get hold of you Brodus, it'll be my turn to break you!
Elgin storms out as Helms look on, shrugs his shoulder and walks off, no doubt to write an article about it on the NWA New York website.
NWA World Heavyweight Title Match
Samoa Joe vs Michael Elgin
Joe got an utterly thunderous ovation from the New York fans, they love him and he delivered a great performance as a result. Elgin was his equal on the night, he stepped his game up and gave the World champ a tough challenge, even managing to overpower the champ on a few occasions despite Joe's height and weight advantage. Indeed when he managed to hit The Revolution Elgin Bomb, everybody thought that was it but Joe managed to kick out before 3. Joe looked strong as always, he showed off all of his signature moves and gave the fans a show, and in the end the match was a good showcase for him while also elevating Elgin from just being in the same ring as the champ. Joe managed to hit the Muscle Buster to win this one in a little under 20 minutes, getting the 3 count after that.
Winner- Samoa Joe
Post match Joe helps Elgin to his feet and gives him a handshake, raising him arm and calling him one of the top young wrestlers in the sport, offering him a rematch down the line. Elgin accepts the offer and I can't wait to see that matchup. Elgin leaves as Joe celebrates with his title in the ring. As Elgin heads backstage BRODUS CLAY ATTACKS! He has Elgin by the throat, G-GRIP OFF THE STAGE! Elgin is out of it as official rush to tend to him, he fell a good 15-20 feet and may be seriously injured.
Clay then turns his attention to Samoa Joe, walking to the ring with no fear as Joe looks pissed off, ready to stand up for his opponent on the night. Clay gets in the ring as Joe fires away on him with forearms, with Clay barely even moving. Joe smacks him with a series of slaps followed by an Enziguri AND CLAY DOESN'T EVEN FLINCH! Joe lock in the Choke with a body scissors around Clay's back, but Clay just falls backwards into the corner, crushing Joe in the process, then tosses him across the ring like a small child with a Belly to Belly. Clay grabs a chair from ringside and gets back in the ring, SMASHING JOE OVER THE HEAD WITH IT AND BUCKLING THE CHAIR! Joe is busted open HUGE but gets back up in a daze. FALL OF HUMANITY! Clay grabs the chair and places it over Joe, climbing onto the turnbuckle. VADER BOMB! Brodus puts his foot on Joe and counts to 3 with his fingers before grabbing the NWA World Title. He thinks about leaving with the belt, but instead throws it at the downed Joe and raises him stolen NWA New York Heavyweight Title as the fans boo.
Prazak: Brodus Clay has just annihilated the NWA World Champion Samoa Joe in a manner I don't think I've ever seen in his entire career. Who's going to stop this man?
Undertaker: I have no idea Dave, this man might not even be able to be stopped. Make no bones about it, Brodus Clay has arrived, and everybody in the NWA may be in grave danger!
Prazak: Truer words haven't been spoken. Thanks for your help tonight Undertaker, we will see you all next week for what is sure to be another wild night of action!
Undertaker: Same to you Dave Prazak, Sleep well creatures of the night, may you all rest in peace!
In a puff of smoke, The Undertaker disappears and Booker T reappears where he was sitting, with a frozen look of terror on his face to end the show on.
