So there's a lot of talking on this particular show. Don't know how it ended up like that but I guess its the Vince Russo side of my writing coming through. Anyways I hope that some of what happens here explains some of the stuff that happened last week, which will in turn build towards the blowoffs to some of my big rivalries later on in the month (an iPPV is likely)
Also I've dropped the Booker T/Prazak bits from this as well fyi.
NWA New York TV 04/07/2014
CM Punk begins our show by heading to the ring, as the fans give him a standing ovation and a massive "CM Punk" chant. Punk has a mic.
Punk: "Its been a while New York. Last time the NWA saw CM Punk I'd chosen to take a break after losing out to Samoa Joe in the finals of the NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament. Samoa Joe, you deserved to win that night, you were the better man, but that doesn't mean I won't come back for a rematch. Whether or not I win that belt, it'll be a pleasure as its been every time we've wrestled. Heck, I want to see the NWA champions here in New York more often, I've only seen Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan here once, they should be here every night defending those belts against all comers.
But that's not why I'm here tonight. Something came to my attention last week when I watched NWA New York's latest show online back in my home in Chicago. I'd like to ask my best friend Colt Cabana to make his way out here. "
Colt Cabana heads down to the ring.
Punk: Colt, I saw what happened last week. In a way I could see it coming, James Storm was batting his eyelashes at Chris Harris for weeks, there was definitely something going on. I'm guessing that Harris and Storm decided they'd bury the hatchet after they got everything out of their system, and you were the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. But that doesn't make what happened right. Chris Harris, James Storm, you crossed the wrong guys, and I'm ready to fight at Colt's side, so how about we have a match that people have wanted to see for years and years. How about we see The Second City Saints battle America's Most Wanted!
The fans explode for this, that could be an amazing match. And speaking of the devil, America's Most Wanted then come out onto the ramp.
Storm: Hey Colt, it was nothing personal buddy, just business. The opportunity to reform the greatest tag team I've ever been part of with my best buddy "Wildcat" Chris Harris doesn't come along every day, and getting back with Chris was the right decision.
Cabana: No problem "pal". Hey, confirm a rumour for me cowboy, is it true that the civil partnership is taking place on Brokeback Mountain?
Storm is fuming about that comment and wants to charge down there, but Harris holds him back. The duo compose themselves and its Harris's turn to talk
Harris: So you want to join the court jester's side huh Punk? Well so be it, the best tag team in the NWA, America's Most Wanted will take you both down. Not only will we get revenge on you Colt Cabana for all those weight jokes, but beating you Punk will give America's Most Wanted enough credibility to challenge for any belts we so choose!
Punk: Personally Chris I think it'll be a while before your credibility matches your waistline, but so be it, let's do this thing!
Harris look ready to go after that comment, with Storm now having to hold him back, but proceeding are then interrupted by our current NWA New York Tag Team Champions, Matt Hardy "Version 1.0" and "Number 1 MF'er" Shannon Moore, Mattitude.
Hardy: Chris Harris, I'm disappointed in you. I welcomed you with open arms into the fraternity of Mattitude, as a man who has overcome adversity to revive his NWA career just like yours truly. And what happens? You throw it back in my face by joining up with this loser. Look what you did to poor Shannon, he's heartbroken.
Shannon pulls a mocking sad face and makes hand motions as if pretending to cry.
Harris: SHUT UP! I was never a follower of your stupid little cult Matt. Nobody gives a damn about Mattitude anymore, it belong in 2003 much like your career. And the only reason I teamed with you in the first place was because I couldn't find anyone else backstage at the time. Stop tweeting me every hour, stop texting me your Matt facts and get the hell off my stage!
Hardy and Moore are far from happy with Harris's comments and we could have another brawl brewing on the ramp. That is until CM Punk interrupts.
Punk: Look, my name might be Phil, but that doesn't mean I'm Dr Phil. You can decide who gets custody of Shannon Moore on your own time, for now I'm waiting for one of you two teams of morons to get down to this ring and fight The Second City Saints!
America's Most Wanted and Mattitude charge for the ring as a three team brawl erupts to the delight of the fans. Officials rush down to the ring to break this thing up which they didn't like so much, but the prospect of a three team rivalry is certainly an intriguing one.
Mr Anderson vs "Mr Average" Joe Hennig w/"Above Average" Mike Sanders
Anderson did his full introduction for us before the meeting of the Mr's, complete with spotlight and microphone dropped from the ceiling. Hennig didn't seem phased, and showed some improvements in the ring here, looking ever so slightly more crisp and confident, indeed "Mr Average" is looking almost above average! Anderson looked good here to and controlled much of this, but seemed very cocky, and took what he (and indeed most people) see as an average opponent lightly. And it would come back to haunt him when Anderson went for the Mic Check, only to have it countered into a rollup by Hennig for the 3 count!
Winner- Joe Hennig
Anderson was fuming post match and tried to attack Hennig, but he escaped the ring and up the ramp celebrating a massive win alongside Sanders. After his release from CPW, a once flourishing career seems to be stalling for Mr Anderson, while the sky is the limit for "Mr Average" who is improving every week.
The Rock and Michael Elgin are backstage in the locker room. Its Elgin who's doing the talking this time, which seems very weird considering who's his tag partner is, but The Rock doesn't look all that happy or willing to talk right now.
Elgin: A lot of people say that last week, Brodus Clay shouldn't have been able to run through us the way he did. That his domination of us made us look very weak, that we shouldn't be in the same ring as him as a result. I think normally people would be justified in putting us down, but this time they're wrong. I was thrown off a stage a few weeks ago and never took any time off to recover, and combine that with the beating I took before then and the fact I've wrestled multiple King of the Ring matches and fatigue was bound to hit me. It was inevitable that Brodus was going to get the better of me after all of that, and I should have seen it coming, I should have taken some time to rest and recover.
As for The Rock, the man hasn't wrestled consistently for years, he's ring rusty and going up against someone like Brodus who's on top of his game wasn't going to end well. People are already saying that he's past it, that The Rock doesn't belong at the top level anymore, that he should have stayed retired. I say they're wrong. The man is busting his ass in training every day, working to get that spark back. His spirit was damn near broken last week after all of that hard work was effectively thrown back in his face, he feels like he let down every single fan in that arena and around the world. But I know he's going to overcome this. Just like me, he's got an unbreakable spirit, the man has faced far greater obstacles in his career and he can come back.
I'm not trying to make excuses though, we dropped the ball, and I'm sorry for all the fans who expected us to do better. Brodus, you might have won the battle, but when we recover we will win the war. Enjoy that belt while you still have it, because when I finally get you in a rematch for that title, the most unbreakable man in this sport is going to break you in half and take back what is rightfully his!"
Our next match is Santino vs Ryback. Ryback makes his way to the ring, before Santino joins him and has something to say
Santino: Ah the Bill Goldberg, I have want to wrestle you for many years. I....
Ryback: I'M NOT BILL GOLDBERG, I'M RYBACK!
Santino: Whatever The Ryback. Goldberg, Ryback, they may be the same person.
The fans start chanting "Goldberg" and Ryback doesn't look happy about that.
Santino: See, the fans agree, that you may as well be the same person. because you are both famous for your streaking. I streaked for many years in my native Calabria, and thats why I had to leave and come to America!
The fans laugh and chant "Santino" as Ryback looks about ready to snap, but keeps it together.
Ryback: THAT'S NOT THE STREAK I'M FAMOUS FOR SANTINO AND YOU KNOW IT!
Santino: I do The Ryback, can you not take the joke with the ha ha and he he. I guess not. You and the Bill Goldberg are famous for your undefeated streak, but I have my own streak. Right now I am 0-3 in NWA New York. Will I make it 0-4? Let's find out.
Santino prepares the cobra as our match begins
Ryback vs Santino
Santino has the cobra ready and charges for Ryback, only to eat a Clothesline. Ryback picks Santino back up and hits Shell Shocked, getting the 3 count in a little over 20 seconds. I guess Santino got his wish and is 0-4.
Winner- Ryback
Ryback leaves celebrating his win, while Santino plays his trumpet and gets the fans chanting "0-4". Well he seems pleased that he lost, good for him I guess.
John Cena makes his way to the ring, a serious look on his face.
Cena: You people probably wonder where Dr Thug went. Well Dr Thug died several weeks ago, and he's never coming back. I wish I'd never agreed to it, but the truth is I felt I had no choice. You see, since the NWA reformed several years ago, suddenly John Cena, one of the biggest stars in the sport couldn't get a job anywhere. Maybe it was because nobody could fit me in, maybe people didn't know how to use me, but I know what the true reason was.
You see, ever since the NWA formed, I've forgotten what made me a star in the first place: being myself. Instead of remembering the values that I based my career around, hustle, loyalty, respect, I went off the rails. Look at Dr Thug, that wasn't me, I'm not some mad scientist and you can blame Russo for that. I'm not a bad guy either, no matter how many want to see John Cena the bad guy its not me. The real John Cena is simply a guy who wants to come out here and give his all every night for the fans. Maybe some people out there don't like that, but I respect your opinion and you can boo me if you want, but I'm still out here fighting for you whether you love or hate me.
And do you want to know the worst thing. I've never held an NWA World Title in my entire career. I'm 37 years old and my time is running out, I know that my chance of cementing my place in the NWA history books is fast dissapearing, and I may end up being the biggest star not to win the big one. Well I know now that if I'm going to do it, the time is now. My aim is to rebuild my career from scratch, working my way up from the very bottom and eventually challenging you Samoa Joe for your belt. Its not going to be easy, but if anybody knows anything about overcoming odds its me. And I'm starting right now, no more talking, I issue an open challenge to anybody in that locker room for a match right here, right now!"
Cena throws down the mic and awaits a challenger. And that challenge is answered by none other than the man who hacked into just about everything last week, Solomon Crowe.
John Cena vs Solomon Crowe
A definite back to basics match for Cena, gone are the wacky hi-jinks of Dr Thug, and instead they are replaced with the solid wrestling skills that we have come to expect of Cena. Indeed it was Crowe who was up to more tricks than anyone here, he hacked the lights at one point to switch them off, where he smashed Cena with a chair (though we could only tell that from the sounds we heard), then hacking the monitor to display an embarrassing picture of Cena from his younger days that caused Cena to be overwhelmed with rage, thus making him lose his focus. Cena managed to get it together however, fighting back before hitting an Attitude Adjustment to get the 3 count.
Winner- John Cena
Cena celebrates, making some motions around his waist that he wants to be holding gold soon. That is UNTIL DEAN AMBROASE ATTACKS FROM BEHIND! The fans give a very mixed reaction for Ambrose, as he and Crowe start beating the hell out of Cena. Ambrose picks up Cena and holds him back, as Crowe smashes him in the face with his iPad! Ambrose then picks up the near lifeless Cena, DIRTY DEEDS! Ambrose and Crowe leave as Cena lies lifeless in the ring. Could this be another reunion, this time the return of The Switchblade Conspiracy?
NWA New York Heavyweight Title Match
"Big Bad" Brodus Clay vs Kane
Kane got viciously assaulted by Brodus Clay two weeks ago when he tried to defend his friend The Hurricane from a vicious beatdown, a beatdown that resulted in Hurricane having to retire from the sport. Kane is a big man and was arguably the first blow for blow even matchup Clay has faced in singles competition in NWA New York, as the two fought a good big man matchup that the crowd were very into. Kane however isn't getting any younger, he's retired from active competition and is the commissioner of this company, and as much fight as he had in him, Clay is younger and better at this point in his career than Kane, and that showed more and more as the match went on. Regardless, Kane managed to stay in it and hit the Chokeslam, BUT CLAY GOT RIGHT BACK UP! Kane tried a Tombstone, but Clay stood his ground and grabbed him by the throat for a G-Grip! 1-2-3, that's it for Kane.
Winner- Brodus Clay
Brodus however isn't done, he grabs the steel chair AND SMASHES KANE OVER THE HEAD WITH IT! He sets the chair over Kane and climbs to the top, BRODUS BOMB! Another victim falls to "Big Bad" Brodus, as Kane takes his second beating from him and has to be helped out by officials.
Main Event, Six Man Tag Team Match
The Texus (Paul London, Michael Shane and Spanky) vs James Gibson, Jimmy Yang and Justin Gabriel
If The Texus win this one, then James Gibson and the rest of his team must admit that The Texus are superior and that they are lightweights, while if Gibson's team win they get fair singles matches against the members of The Texus (in other words interference by other Texus members will be outlawed). It was a chaotic six man tag match, as the so called "heavyweights" of The Texus did battle with Gibson, Yang and Gabriel, and we saw a lot of fast paced X style action, with a lot of near falls and death defying moves here. London didn't want any part of Gibson, letting Shane and Spanky carry the match when Gibson was in there and only getting involved when Yang or Gabriel was there. Finally however Gibson would get a hot tag after a period of isolated offense on Gabriel, cleaning house with Yang on Shane and Spanky and practically forcing London to get in there. The two went back and forth as Yang took out all the other guys in the match with a Corkscrew dive onto all of them, with London sneaking a Low Blow behind the ref's back to down Gibson. He went up top and went for the Londons Calling, BUT GIBSON ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY! Gibson then grabs London, GIBSOBN DRIVER! 1-2-3, GIBSON FINALLY PINS LONDON!
Winners- James Gibson, Jimmy Yang and Justin Gabriel
As a result of this, James Gibson is now guaranteed another shot at Paul London, and Gibson is begging for it to be right now, but London wants no part of that as The Texus scarper up the ramp. Next week we will see James Gibson vs Michael Shane, Jimmy Yang vs Spanky and Paul London taking on his former ally, Justin Gabriel! See you next week wrestling fans!
Also I've dropped the Booker T/Prazak bits from this as well fyi.
