FOUR WAY MATCH
Andrew Everett vs. AR Fox vs. Shane Strickland vs. JT Dunn
Andrew Everett vs. AR Fox vs. Shane Strickland vs. JT Dunn
When you've got four guys as quick, agile, and innovative as these four young and talented individuals, you know you're going to have an exciting contest. This match didn't have much in the way of story or structure, but Fox and Strickland actually showed some team work in the mid-section of this that put Everett and Dunn at a disadvantage. Strickland would turn on Fox, though, and soured that for the rest of the match, but Fox would be the one to eventually come out on top, surviving the onslaught and successive big moves each opponent would try to use to get a pinfall and eventually catch Dunn with his Kryptonite Krunch to hold his shoulders down for the three. Nice, flashy, brainless entertainment here, and a good way to get the fans energized and ready for a night of intense action.
SINGLES MATCH
Sara Del Rey vs. Nevaeh
Sara Del Rey vs. Nevaeh
"The Queen of Wrestling" hasn't been seen since she lost to Sarah Stock in the number one contendership tournament finale a few shows back, and it seems she took the time to get focused and healthy. Nevaeh is a very tough and physical opponent, and she tried to take it to Del Rey early, but Del Rey was just "on" tonight and showed why she is pound-for-pound one of the best female professional wrestlers out there, earning a submission win here tonight with her LeBell Lock in a decently quick fashion.
After the match, Del Rey gets on the microphone and says that she has worked harder than any other woman to make her mark over the years and that the set back she suffered in her loss to "The Dark Angel" isn't going to crush her dreams of holding that World Women's championship. She gets mid-sentence in her closing when she is suddenly ATTACK FROM BEHIND! It's none other than CHEERLEADER MELISSA, her old rival, who has taken her down! Melissa grabs Del Rey by the legs and twists them, locking her into her Kondo Clutch until officials have to come out and separate them, making the save. Melissa leaves to a mixed reaction as she smirks on, enjoying her handiwork.
Christy Hemme makes her way out with Brian Cage and Caleb Konley in tow, and she has a microphone. She says week in and week out, her boys have proven to be the best of the best and tonight will be no different! She says there is no tag team on this continent or any other that can stand to them, and that's why they will leave the "Great American Bash" with North American Tag Team titles, titles they should have right now! Their opponents, Jake and Dave Crist, make their way out to a solid ovation, as these fans want to see if someone can prove Hemme and her team wrong!
TAG TEAM MATCH
Brian Cage & Caleb Konley w/ Christy Hemme vs. Jake Crist & Dave Crist
Brian Cage & Caleb Konley w/ Christy Hemme vs. Jake Crist & Dave Crist
The Crist brothers, who are sometimes still referred to as "Irish Airborne", have some very crisp tandem work that sent Cage and Konley reeling to the outside to consult with Hemme, only to take some aerial offense from the brothers that got the fans all kinds of riled up! Despite the hot start, Cage and Konley would manage to turn the tides and it was all down hill from there. Hemme's team would end the match with Cage getting Dave up for a Powerbomb and Konley coming off the top and delivering a Flying Legdrop on the come down. Cage would proceeded to tackle and take Jake to the outside as he tried to make his way back in and Konley pinned Dave for the three! The winning ways continue for Cage and Konley as they continue their campaign towards becoming undisputed North American Tag Team champions!
Kid Kash makes his way out to the ring with a microphone in hand and gets a decent pop from this Waterbury crowd. Kash says that it took him some time to pick himself back up after what happened a few shows ago, when he "lost" the X Division title thanks to the ploys of those bastards Jimmy Jacobs and Delirious. He says it took him awhile to accept that guys like Al Snow and Tommy Dreamer would even let this stand, guys he rode with for years, and accept that all of the hard work was for nothing because it was all stolen from him. He says at this point in his career, he doesn't have to do this, but he remembered in those moments, as he battled back and forth in his head, why he does it... it's for these fans and it's for the fight, and tonight, he starts to fight again, and at "Summer Reign", he fights the fight of his life and he gets his belt back!
SINGLES MATCH
Kid Kash vs. Sonjay Dutt
Kid Kash vs. Sonjay Dutt
Sonjay Dutt is as traveled and talented as they come, and he came here to put on a show. Kash would look red hot early, really putting a beating on Dutt and showing why he is a champion at heart, and really made Dutt work for his check tonight. Dutt would catch Kash coming into the corner with a high boot, and then Springboarded off the ropes with a Hurricanrana to send him to the outside, following up with a Springboard Moonsault to the outside to get the fans popping hard! Kash would manage to make a comeback, escaping an attempted Sonjay Cutter, laying out Dutt with a vicious Lariat and then following up with a Powerbomb, finishing it off with a high impact Moonsault Press, and it's all over! Kash gets his hand raised before making a throat slash and then miming a belt around his waist, and these fans seem to be backing him up here tonight.
SIX MAN TAG TEAM MATCH
Austin Aries, Chris Hero, and Jay Lethal w/ Veda Scott vs. Jimmy Jacobs, Delirious, and Adam Cole w/ Seleziya Sparx
Austin Aries, Chris Hero, and Jay Lethal w/ Veda Scott vs. Jimmy Jacobs, Delirious, and Adam Cole w/ Seleziya Sparx
Huge, HUGE six man tag team match here, and these fans were red hot for this one. Jimmy Jacobs defeated Chris Hero on the last show with interference from Seleziya, which obviously made the South Beach champion very upset. Adam Cole and Austin Aries had been involved in the tournament to crown a number one contender to the Overdrive Heavyweight championship, meaning they have some history. Jay Lethal was also involved in that tournament, but seemed to just be here to get some ring time and didn't seem too interested in the well being of his team mates, instead saving his own neck at many opportunities and he probably spent more time consulting with his valet, Veda Scott, then he did trying to win this match for his team. Seleziya would once again try to get involved against Hero, distracting him on the apron, but Hero wouldn't fall for it, side stepping and leading Jacobs to almost knock her off the apron. Jacobs stops just short of hitting her with a, "Woah, woah!" Hero smashes him to the back of the head with a Rolling Elbow, however, causing him to headbutt Seleziya right off the mat and these fans roar! Hero looks like he's going to get the win when things get really interesting. As he goes for the pin, into the ring flies SETH ROLLINS with a Springboard Knee right to the side of his head, knocking him clean out! The referee calls for the bell, this one's over!
Jay Lethal decides to grab Veda and leave, not wanting anything to do with what is going down here. Austin Aries rushes in and begins to send left hands flying into the face of Rollins, but Delirious and Jacobs come from behind Aries, chopping him down and then holding him by his arms, leading to Rollins running off the ropes and stomping him face first into the mat! These fans are booing wildly as Adam Cole comes in, looking a little uneasy but kind of laughing and trying to get in on things. However, he and Rollins have had a really rocky history and Rollins and his crew didn't seem too inviting to Adam Cole; that is to say, Rollins would kick Cole right in the stomach, lifting him up into an Inverted Front Powerslam as Jacobs ran off the ropes and caught him by the head, hitting a Dominator/Ace Crusher combo that actually got a rise from the crowd! Seleziya brings in a chair and they look like they will inflict more damage when into the ring runs FRANKIE KAZARIAN, who's got a chair in hand and who catches Delirious to the back with a big chair shot! Kazarian catches Jacobs to the ribs with the chair, and this sends Rollins to the outside, not wanting to tangle here tonight with his message clearly sent, and these four culprits of chaos retreat into the crowd and out of harm's way as Kazarian stands tall in the ring, trying to pull up Aries and Hero, who are obviously hurting, while leaving Adam Cole to pick his own sorry self up.
TAG TEAM MATCH
Chris Dickinson & BJ Whitmer vs. Rene Dupree & KENTA
Chris Dickinson & BJ Whitmer vs. Rene Dupree & KENTA
There's been a lot of tension involved with these guys, as Dickinson and Whitmer despise each other but have come together against a common enemy in Rene Dupree and his hired hit man, KENTA. This match was more a wild brawl than anything, as most of the match was spent on the outside, and the referee just let it go, not even trying to enforce a ten or twenty count here tonight. Dupree would manage to catch Dickinson with a low blow and send him into the turnpost to bust him open, showing his tenacity and relentlessness as he attacked the open wound from there. Whitmer would end up making Dupree pay big time, though, sending him right onto a chair set up in the corner of the guardrail with an Exploder Suplex, crushing the chair and getting a big pop from the crowd! KENTA would manage to send Dickinson into the crowd hard, crashing into his bleeding face with a Single Leg High Knee to nearly knock him out cold! Whitmer would attack KENTA from behind with a big Lariat and took things back inside, where he looked to end it.
KENTA would show his toughness and skill, avoiding the Peruvian Neck-tie submission Whitmer likes to use, and then breaking free of a Wrist-Clutch Exploder, sending a series of strikes into Whitmer and once again looking for a Single Leg High Knee, but Whitmer avoided it and delivered another big Lariat, earning a two count! Whitmer would try to scoop KENTA up for something, but KENTA would slide off his back and attempt a Go 2 Sleep, but Whitmer would break free with elbows. The two would end up trading blows for a moment, with Whitmer getting the better of it momentarily and attempting to run off the ropes, but KENTA was right behind him, leaping and connecting with the Single Leg High Knee! KENTA then picks up Whitmer onto his shoulders and delivers the Go 2 Sleep, and it's all over! Dickinson is stopped from getting back into the ring by an ailing Dupree as the three counts to three, and KENTA has overcome the man who is scheduled to face Dupree for his Overdrive Heavyweight title at "Summer Reign"! Dupree couldn't be more pleased as the fans give a solid reaction, appreciating the great match they just witnessed.
