So I had to kind of rush this show out with The Great American Bash being posted in the next few days, as this is obviously the show that reveals who Brodus is teaming with. So its a bit on the short side and I apologise for that. Obviously the reveal is going to be a bit controversial, but trust me when I say that it will all tie together in some form at The Great American Bash, I had some big ideas on how to go about it and I hope that everybody will enjoy that when the time comes.
NWA New York TV 18/07/2014
We begin the show by cutting to "Corporate Commissioner" Kane in his office.
Kane: As you might have seen a few weeks ago, I had a match against Brodus Clay, a match where my thirst for vengeance overcame me, a match where my fire for being the best authority figure in wrestling and a future president of the United States went to one side. And I lost, and lost so badly that I ended up in hospital afterwards. I've taken the past few weeks to recover, and while it happened, I realised that maybe stepping in that ring isn't worthwhile anymore. Thats why rather than make a big deal of it, I'm announcing my retirement as a professional wrestler right here and now. Its been a good run but I don't feel like I belong in there anymore at my age. Brodus Clay, I hope your ready because my brother will walk through hellfire and brimstone to avenge me!
Michael Shane vs Justin Gabriel
A good opener here between these two, with Shane looking to ground Gabriel and slow the pace of the match down, while Gabriel took to the air and tried to wrestle this at a fast pace. Gabriel managed to win it when he avoided a Sweet Shane Music attempt, hit a Hurricanrana and then climb to the top for a 450 Splash that got him 3.
Winner- Justin Gabriel
Our next match is Chuck Taylor making his NWA New York debut, getting a good ovation from the fans. He's taking on Santino, who has something to say pre-match.
Santino: Ah the Chuckie Taylor. I defeat your friend the Reilly O'Kyle last week and now I am ready to keep the streak alive against you this evening.
Taylor: What? You LOST to Kyle O'Reilly last week. And he's not my friend either, I hate Kyle O'Reilly.
Santino: I may have been pinned to the canvas for the 3, but that doesn't mean I lost.
Taylor: But he didn't pin you, he made you tap out!
Santino: Pin, submit, it not matter to Santino. You see my streak was kept alive, I am 0-5, and tonight I may be the 0-6!
Santino gets the Cobra out and charges for the ring.
Santino vs Chuck Taylor
Santino seems to be getting more and more insane by the day as he charges with great vengeance and furious anger for the ring. He goes for The Cobra, but Chuck Taylor grabs the arm AND TURN THE COBRA ON SANTINO! Santino tries to fight it but the Cobra destroys him as he lies motionless on the canvas. Taylor goes for the cover and gets the academic 3 count. I guess Santino is now 0-6, if he lives to tell the tale that is.
Winner- Chuck Taylor
"Mr Average" Joe Hennig w/"Above Average" Mike Sanders vs Trent Barretta
Trent Barretta got a tryout match in front of his hometown fans which they loved, giving him a big ovation. Unfortunately for him it was against a man who is improving more and more every week in "Mr Average" Joe Hennig, who under the guidance of "Above Average" Mike Sanders has shown so much improvement and that he is more than capable of taking on any challenge thrown before him. This one was no different, as while Barretta did have a few chances to win this one, it was largely all a showcase for Hennig and his fast improving ring skills. One Average Plex later and Hennig would get the academic win. It has to be sooner or later that Hennig will move up the card!
Winner- Joe Hennig
Paul London vs Jimmy Yang
London wanted the win here in a big way, so that he'd have some major momentum going into the match with James Gibson just 2 days from now at The Great American Bash. It was a very fast paced contest, with London having to bend the rules a bit at times to keep up with Yang despite his so called "super heavyweight" status. The match ended similarly to London's match last week, as he would shove the ref into the ropes when Yang was up top looking for the Yang Time, which he followed with his Legsweep DDT and ended it with the Londons Calling.
Winner- Paul London
John Cena is out to the ring to a good reaction from the fans, though as is the course with Cena some are booing. Cena takes the mic.
Cena: "I just want to say, thank you all for your support. Whether you've cheered or you've booed me, I have nothing but hustle, loyalty and respect to each and every one of you."
The fans give another mixed reaction.
Cena: "Now as much as I have unfinished business with them, I'm not out here to discuss The Switchblade Conspiracy, there's something else that I have to do. What I'm going to do tonight may again cause some of you to cheer and some of you to boo. But if there's one thing I know I've got to do to continue my comeback in this business, its to make controversial decisions that may split my fans and my detractors down the middle. That's why I want to call one man out to the ring right now. Brodus Clay, get down here now!"
Wow, this is a pretty bold move by Cena. "King" Brodus Clay is all to happy to oblige. He makes his way down to the ring and looks ready to fight, but Cena doesn't look like he's here for that purpose.
Cena: "Whoa big guy, chill. I'm not here to fight you. Instead "King" Brodus Clay, I'm going to make you an offer. You can accept or decline, the choice is yours.
Last week, I think we all saw that when at their full strength, The Rock and Michael Elgin are a formidable team capable of taking you down Brodus. Now just two days from The Great American Bash, not a single man is willing to team with you after all the destruction you've caused. Maybe you believe that you can take them both down yourself, but I'm not so sure, with so many people out for your blood and that busy schedule of yours, your bound to be closing in on exhaustion. You need a tag partner to take the heat off, and that why I want to make you an offer. I'm offering to be your tag team partner at The Great American Bash.
Maybe your all wondering why I want to tag with a man who could just as soon take me out alongside all of his opponents. Well, there's more to this than a simple wrestling match. You see Brodus, you and me have a lot more in common than you realise. Just like you I'm a man who's been treated as a joke in the past, you were a dancing fool called the Funkasaurus while I had to play a mad scientist called Dr Thug, and now we both want to be taken seriously. We've both had long spells on the unemployment line despite our obvious talents, while other lesser names got the opportunities we should have had. And we both want NWA gold to cement our legacies in this business, we want the big matches and the big money and glory that comes with that.
My reasons might be a little selfish. I know that teaming with you at The Great American Bash Brodus will give me one hell of an opportunity to rebuild my career. If I can pin The Rock in his comeback match, instantly John Cena's name is on everybody's lips again. If I pin one of the hottest young stars in the NWA in Michael Elgin on PPV, that again puts John Cena back on the map! Or if I'm just the ally that helps even the odds, being on PPV can only benefit John Cena.
You can accept or reject my offer Brodus, but unlike any other partner I'm not afraid of you and I'm not going to betray you to make a name at "The King's expense". Its your call, what do you say? "
Brodus takes the mic and contemplates this for a bit.
Brodus: "I don't need a tag partner John! But tell you what, I will accept your offer, know why? Because if you screw this up for me John Cena, if its you that takes the fall in that match and let me down, I'm going to take so much pleasure in taking out all those frustrations on you. You'll better hope your on your A game John or its going to be your last ever match!"
The two exchange a staredown before Brodus leaves and Cena just shrugs and leaves himself. This is one heck of a risk by Cena, and I can understand why he's done it, but was it the right decision or one that he will live to regret? And what will The switchblade Conspiracy make of this, surely they must have some thoughts on effectively being passed over by Cena for a so called money match on PPV.
NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title Match
James Gibson vs Spanky
Spanky beat Jimmy Yang last week and now felt like this could be his night to take that Junior belt away from James Gibson, while Gibson wanted the win for a similar reason to Paul London earlier, so that at The Great American Bash he would have all the momentum going in. Spanky put up a good fight for sure, using more of an aerial game here as opposed to getting into it on the mat with Gibson, a fight that perhaps he realised he wasn't likely going to win. Gibson however is a master of controlling the pace of a match, and was able to reel in Spanky, finally hitting him with a Gibson Driver that put him away.
Winner- James Gibson
NWA New York Tag Team Title Match
Mattitude ("Version 1" Matt Hardy and "Number 1 MF'er" Shannon Moore) vs The Second City Saints (CM Punk and Colt Cabana)
Matt fact of the day: Matt is the king of the tag team match, having won over 9000 in his career to date! What a main event tag match we had here, as two of the top tag teams in the entire NWA go at for the belts. CM Punk is just 2 days away from a World Heavyweight Title Match with Samoa Joe, and yet that was far from his focus, instead he wanted some other gold around his waist, those Tag Team Titles. It was a great match, as The Second City Saints looked a bit sharper together this week and Mattitude are of course on top form having been a team for a few months again now. Punk and Cabana took turns in beating on Moore early on, isolating Hardy before he finally made the tag and got in there. Then it was Cabana's turn to be isolated, as Hardy and Moore used every trick in the book to keep him from making that tag to Punk. Punk finally tagged in when Moore let Cabana slip, and he took everybody down with fire as he shouts "soon I'll be holding two title belts New York!" America's Most Wanted however were going to have something to say about that while Punk and Hardy brawled on the outside. With the ref distracted looking at the brawl outside the ring, Storm smashed a beer bottle over the head of Cabana, which allowed Moore to roll him up and get the shock 3 count!
Winners- Mattitude
Post match Punk is obviously pissed off at this, and goes after America's Most Wanted, but Hardy looks far from happy either, annoyed that Harris and Storm are getting involved in his business again (albeit he brought this on himself for getting involved in their match the previous week). And as you would expect a three way brawl erupts yet again, as officials run out to break this thing up!
To end out show we cut backstage to The Rock and Michael Elgin. Rock is going to do the talking this time around.
"FINALLY, THE ROCK IS READY TO COME BACK TO THE SQUARED CIRCLE! A lot of The Rock's fans were worried after what happened to The Rock a few weeks ago, where he was attacked and beaten down alongside his brother in arms Michael Elgin by the pie mountain Brodus Clay. And now he wants to walk around calling himself "King" Brodus. The only thing your king of Brodus is the dessert section at Dairy Queen!
Did you think that you were going to get away with embarrassing The Rock in front of his millions (and millions) of fans? Nobody does that to The Rock and lives to tell the tale. The Rock has trained for weeks and weeks to be in the best shape of his life, so that he's ready to begin his comeback Smackdown tour of New York City. And when The Most Electrifying Man in Sports and Entertainment lays the smackdown on you Brodus this Sunday, you're going to realise that you were wrong to ever cross the path of The Great One. IF YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING!"
We end on The Rock's raised eyebrow and thats our show, see you next week wrestling fans.....
That is if our feed wasn't hacked at the very end by The Switchblade Conspiracy of Dean Ambrose and Solomon Crowe. Crowe obviously was the one responsible, but Ambrose is doing the talking.
Ambrose: "It's not over yet fans. And its not over yet Cena. Do you think that one fluke win means that this thing ends? Not a chance. This doesn't end until I see your blood all over the canvas, until I see you lying cold and emotionless in that ring. This thing doesn't end until I see all of your fans crying and mourning your untimely death!"
The feed cuts out for real this time and that definitely is our show, a chilling way to end for sure.
