So this is a pretty condensed show outside of the opening stuff, but the aim here was to build to Summerfest some more and introduce the new guys, and hopefully this achieved that purpose. The full card for Summerfest will be revealed shortly.
NWA New York TV 25/07/2014
"King" Brodus Clay makes his way out to begin our show. He looks far from happy right now, he lost on national PPV to The Rock and Michael Elgin in a tag match.
Brodus: Everybody wants to think that Brodus Clay isn't a threat anymore? Because I lost 1 match, 1 MATCH, that suddenly the 2014 King of the Ring, the man that's beaten everybody isn't a big deal anymore? That pisses me off. We all saw Rock use the chair, he should have been DQ'ed, the win was far from the so called clean win that everybody wants to think it was.
But unlike some who would sulk about it, I'm gonna take action. Rock, your dead on August 3rd, but tonight I'll fight ANYBODY in that locker room who thinks they can take on Brodus Clay. Who's wants to fight me?"
The challenge is answered by MICHAEL ELGIN! The fans explode as we know the history between these two. Elgin has a mic.
Elgin: So you want an opponent Brodus? How about the man you threw off a stage? The man who you stole the NWA New York Heavyweight Title belt from? The man who you beat for that title in his most vulnerable state? The man who's spirit you could never break. At The Great American Bash The Rock proved your beatable, and now I want my revenge. Let's do this and forget the rules, I want a fight and I'm finally going to beat you!
Elgin charges and Clay is ready for this.
NWA New York Heavyweight Title Match, No DQ's
"King" Brodus Clay vs "Unbreakable Michael Elgin
This was a war for sure, it was very reminiscent of their first encounter in the Extreme League in that respect, albeit this was a lot more condensed at a little over 10 minutes. Elgin threw utterly everything he had at Clay, hanging with him and even tossing the big man around, hitting a brutal German Suplex onto a chair on the big man and getting a near fall in the process. "King" Brodus however seemed to have an almost air of invincibility about him tonight, no matter what Elgin did it seemed to barely keep the big guy down, from an awesome Revolution Elgin Bomb that showed incredible strength, to a Crossface using the barbed wire, the move that beat Clay at the Extreme League, nothing was keeping Clay down. He managed to rip the barbed wire from Elgin's hands and break the hold, before grabbing Elgin, G-GRIP ONTO THE BARBED WIRE! Elgin winces in agony as Brodus grabs a table and sets up Elgin on it. BRODUS BOMB THROUGH THE TABLE! 1-2-3, CLAY WINS!
Winner- Brodus Clay
Elgin is a bloody mess on the canvas, but Clay isn't done. He grabs a chair from ringside and props Elgin up in the corner. CHAIRSHOT TO ELGIN! He unwraps the tape from his wrists and uses it to tie Elgin to the ropes, as the ref begs him to stop. FALL OF HUMANITY TO THE REF! That's his pay for the night gone. Clay grabs the chair. CHAIRSHOT AFTER CHAIRSHOT TO ELGIN! Elgin is completely unable to defend himself as Clay rips him off the ropes and sets him down with the bloody and buckled chair on top. BRODUS BOMB! He goes back up top as officials run out and beg him to stop, but he threatens to do to them what he did to the other ref. SECOND BRODUS BOMB! Elgin has blood pouring out of his mouth as Clay smiles sadistically, and takes the mic as Elgin is finally attended to.
Clay: Tonight, I proved that I am still a threat to anybody in the NWA. What I did to Michael Elgin tonight is NOTHING compared to what I'm going to do to The Rock at Summerfest. After that, if anybody wants to doubt my World title credentials, if anybody thinks they are more qualified than me to be the man, they can line up and fight me in this ring, I'll beat them all in the same night!
Brodus leaves, still looking pretty pissed off, but he must be somewhat pleased with his nights work. Meanwhile Elgin has to get himself together in time to fight The Switchblade Conspiracy with John Cena, and right now I have doubts that it will happen.
The New Nation (Ezekiel Jackson and Big E Langston) vs Santino and Heath Slater
This was a mauling, The New Nation utterly dominated this one from start to finish, as they showed that they have all the potential to be a real force in NWA New York. They used all of that power of their to toss around Slater, taking him down with a Double Clothesline followed by a Double Body Press and then a Double Powerbomb. Santino charged in, only to get hit with a Double Back Body Drop. Slater has somehow pulled himself onto the apron, BUT BIG E RUNS THROUGH HIM WITH A SPEAR TO THE FLOOR! Jackson lifts up Santino, TORTURE RACK! Santino taps and that was quite a spectacle!
Winners- The New Nation
John Cena vs Chuck Taylor
A big opportunity for Chuck Taylor, as he got a shot one on one with John Cena. He gave him a good fight, coming close to beating Cena on a few occasions, including getting a near fall with a Springboard Moonsault and almost making him tap to the Cross Crab (with Cena only just making the ropes). Cena countered an Awful Waffle with a Backdrop, and then mounted a fightback, hitting all his signature moves. One Attitude Adjustment later and Cena gets another win.
Winner- John Cena
Paul London is backstage, looking really rough, almost like he hasn't slept since The Great American Bash.
London: James Gibson, I've got to hand it to you, you beat me. Maybe your not the lightweight I thought you were. Michael Shane and Spanky however proved they don't belong in the ranks of the super heavyweights, and neither do you Daniel Bryan. After all we've been through, the years of training together, being on the road together, you decide to help the enemy. The NWA want to ban me from interfering in the World Junior match at Summerfest, well go ahead, I don't care who wins. Because soon that belt will be mine, and when it is, I'm going to toss it in the trash where it belongs, and put an end to lightweight wrestling forever!
The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O'Neill) vs The Switchblade Conspiracy (Dean Ambrose and Solomon Crowe)
The fans loved the arrival of The Prime Time Players in NWA New York, chanting "million of dollars" as they definitely played that up here. The Switchblade Conspiracy on the other hand weren't here to mess about, and as a result this match largely became a showcase for them to display the skills they will have to show against John Cena and Michael Elgin (if he makes it) at Summerfest. Crowe took Young to the outside and started beating the hell out of him out there as Ambrose grabbed O'Neill. DIRTY DEEDS, 1-2-3!
Winners- The Switchblade Conspiracy
Joe Hennig is backstage
Hennig: People might be wondering what I did with Mike Sanders. Well I fired his ass, because he had done all I needed him to. You see, I'm not average at all, nor am I above average. Look at me, I have wrestling skills that all the wrestlers of the NWA dream of. My skills even surpass my father's. I'm not perfect, because true perfection has to be imperfect, and I don't have any imperfections. There's only one word you can use to describe me, and that is flawless! I don't have a single weakness, only strengths, and when I step into the squared circle this is all that you will see. The era of "Flawless" Joe Hennig is about to begin!
NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title Match
James Gibson vs Justin Gabriel
A battle of respect as these two allies go at it for the belt. Gabriel gave Gibson a good fight for sure, taking to the air to counteract the superb mat wrestling skills of Gibson, resulting in a match that went back and forth and never seemed to slow down for a minute. Gibson would retain when he hat the Gibson Driver for the 3 count.
Winner- James Gibson
The two shake hands as Gabriel wishes him luck for Summerfest. Will Daniel Bryan retain, or will Gibson win the big one?
The Rock is backstage looking pumped.
Rock: "Yes, you all saw it, at The Great American Bash The Rock stepped back into the ring, and the fans once again knew greatness. The Rock gave them a show they will never forget and proved that he has still got "it". But the next challenge for The Rock is the real one. Brodus Clay, are you ready to go one on one with The Great One? If you fight like you did at The Great American Bash then it'll be the shortest main event in history, the millions (and millions) of The Rock's fan saw him pin your fatass shoulders to the mat after the most electrifying move in sports and entertainment, The Peoples Elbow, and he didn't even break a sweat.
Maybe you think that beating up The Rock's friend Michael Elgin is supposed to be scary? Weill its not Brodus. It just makes me want to fight you that much more, to put an end to your reign of terror "King". At Summerfest Brodus, your going to take a one way trip to the Smackdown Hotel courtesy of the Brahma Bull, The People's Champion, The Great One, The Rock. IF YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING!"
NWA New York Tag Team Title Match
Mattitude (Matt Hardy "Version 1.0" and "Number 1 MF'er" Shannon Moore) vs America's Most Wanted ("Wildcat" Chris Harris and "Cowboy" James Storm)
A solid wrestling match in the grand scheme of things, but with both of these teams not exactly being on the fans good side right now, here wasn't a lot of crowd heat which definitely hurt things. It would however end prematurely as The Second City Saints charged in and attacked both team, leading to a DQ.
Winners- No Contest
The three teams continue to brawl as officials have to rush out and break this thing up. These three teams will meet at Summerfest to decide which team truly is the best. Right now its difficult to say who that will be. We will see you at Summerfest wrestling fans!
