Arena México
1. Rey Cometa & Star Jr. defeats Skándalo & Virus
Short but exciting opener with the tecnicos taking the first and third falls.
2. CMLL Universal Tournament Block A Quarterfinal Match: Rey Escorpión defeats Felino with La Quebrada
3. CMLL Universal Tournament Block A Quarterfinal Match: Negro Casas defeats Mephisto with La Casita
4. Black Panther, Cachorro & Tritón defeats Boby Zavala, Puma & Tiger
This proved to be quite the grudge match as Black Panther & Cachorro squared off against Puma & Tiger just days after saving Valiente from a beating at the hands of the Casas family. Tritón would use the Metal Special on Zavala to win the first fall as the other four men spent the majority of the fall battling at ringside. Puma would even the match by using La Casita on Black Panther to win the second fall. The third fall featured more brawling at ringside and a tremendous turnbuckle moonsault from Tritón to everyone at ringside. Cachorro would secure the win with El Nudo Lagunero on Tiger but the battle wouldn’t end there. Felino would slide into the ring with a chair and nail both Black Panther and Cachorro as they had their hands raised by the referee.
5. CMLL Universal Tournament Block A Quarterfinal Match: La Sombra defeats Shocker with a split-legged corkscrew senton
6. CMLL Universal Tournament Block A Quarterfinal Match: Terrible defeats Euforia with a diving splash
7. Dragón Rojo Jr., Máscara Dorada & Ángel de Oro defeats Ephesto, Pólvora & Rey Bucanero
This was a fairly quick match as the tecnicos took straight falls as Rojo Jr. used Patadas Laguneras on Bucanero and Dorada used a springboard twisting splash on Pólvora.
8. CMLL Universal Tournament Block A Semifinal Match: Rey Escorpión defeats Negro Casas
This was a great match that lasted over fifteen minutes and featured both men trying to out rudo each other before Escorpión connected with the Aguijón Venenoso.
9. CMLL Universal Tournament Block A Semifinal Match: La Sombra defeats Terrible
This became a war of attrition for Sombra as he survived several powerbombs and an over the shoulder belly-to-back piledriver. Terrible would eventually connect with La Terriblina but Sombra rolled his shoulder at the last moment. Terrible would go for the diving splash but Sombra rolled out of the way. Both men laid on the mat for a few moments before simultaneously climbing to their feet and trading blows. Terrible would miss a lariat that allowed Sombra to get the rollup and transition into the Brillante Driver to move onto the finals.
10. Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja & Último Guerrero defeat Atlantis, Diamante Azul & Volador Jr.
This was a fairly short match and was dominated by Atlantis and Último Guerrero. Último tore off the mask of Atlantis to get disqualified in the first fall and Atlantis returned the favor to end another short fall. The third lasted a bit longer with Último using the Guerrero Special II on Atlantis to get the win. Último would take Atlantis’ mask once more and stood proudly on the turnbuckle with it before tossing it back to the canvas and leaving the ring.
11. CMLL Universal Tournament Block A Final Match: La Sombra defeats Rey Escorpión
This was a clear cut match of the year candidate in México as it featured great counters, reversals and too many near falls to count. The crowd seemed sure that each man had won on several occasions and seemed to will them back to their feet. Both men used some crazy drives and were nearly counted out as they struggled to get back to the ring. Escorpión set Sombra up for the Aguijón Venenoso several times but never could pull it off, while Sombra tossed everything he had at Escorpión short of the Brillante Driver. After nearly 23 minutes of action Escorpión missed a corner splash and found himself on the wrong end of the Brillante Driver to send Sombra to the finals for a record third time.
