"The Canadian Lion" Lance Erikson vs. Shockwave the Robot

Erikson is a solid heel and he worked hard to help put the fan favorite get over. Shockwave would do some break dancing after his victory.


DARK MATCH
JD Maverick vs. Houston Carson

Maverick made his dark match debut beating Carson, giving him some experience in NWA East preshow style.


I opened the show with Samoa Joe in the ring, he called me out to the ring where we talked about his victory at Fall Brawl over Masters. Joe would thank me in his own way before offering me a hand shake. The plesantry ended quick as Joe pulled me in telling me if I ever hit him again he'd kill me eliciting a pop from the crowd, we fed them the chance to chant "Joe's gonna kill you!" (gotta work that crowd) after the promo Joe called out anyone in the back that wants a shot at his title.


NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
Jeremiah Plunkett vs. Samoa Joe

I've said it before I'm high on Plunkett and Joe was happy to help me get this kid over since I kept Joe from free agency not long ago. I gave Plunkett the "4th and inches this is your time to shine" speech to psych him up before the cameras rolled. This match had both men working hard and Joe really sold for Plunkett but finished him off with the coquina clutch.


TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT MATCH
The Reapers(Jason Gory & Matt Conard) vs. Tyson Dean & Zac Vincent

I decided since the NA tag titles were absorbed I needed a set of tag belts for East, this resulted in a tournament to crown the first champions. I gave the Reapers the nod in this one because they were one of the teams I wanted to advance to the next round.


Byron Wilcott came out to the ring with a protective face mask on after taking a punt kick to the face by Chance Prophet on the last show. This brought out Chance who tried to go at Wilcott again getting a pop from the crowd, but again he'd be tackled before he could get his hands on Wilcott getting drug away by security!


TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT MATCH
Affluence(Byron Wilcott & Samuel Elias) vs. The Modern Day Heroes(Kevin Douglas & Shark Boy)

Affluence is another team I want to see go to the next round so they won this one joining the Reapers in the next round.


SINGLES MATCH
Necro Butcher vs. "Classic" Chase Owens w/ Steve Corino

Chase played it off like he was scared of Butcher coming in but still won the match with a discus elbow allowing for Corino to spout off that Owens beat the man who "defies death" he can deny death but he can't stop Chase Owens!


TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT MATCH
Hillbilly Deluxe(Jock Samson & Jason Kincaid) vs. The Maladjustments (Ron Mathis & Tanner Reynolds)

Hillbilly Deluxe is a huge fan favorite so they're of course going on to the next round of the tournament!


TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT MATCH
Sons of Chaos(Phil Monahan & Damien Wayne) vs. Vordell Walker & Arrick Andrews

These are my strongest two teams so this was really just a tease of what they could do later down the line. The match would get thrown out with the Sons of Chaos bringing chairs into the match beating the hell of of Walker and Andrews. This makes the Sons look vicious and give Walker and Andrews a redemption factor to get revenge down the line. The dq means both teams aren't advancing and someones getting a bye in the next round, things that will be announced on the next show by commissioner James Gibson


SINGLES MATCH
Jax Dane vs. "The Tokyo Monster" Kahagas

Jax Dane is a guy I want to hang out near the top of cards so I fed him Kahagas for a solid win.


#1 CONTENDERS MATCH
Adam Pearce vs. Colt Cabana

I went with Cabana as the winner of this one, I'm high on both men but I'd rather see Joe/Cabana over Joe/Pearce.

Good booking and logic here. I enjoyed the read, as always. I like that you had both of your top teams get thrown out of the tournament, as now it makes it more interesting to see who comes out on top. You're using Joe really well, and knowing enough about Plunkett, I could see them having a really good contest.

JD Maverick fits like a glove with this promotion. Hopefully you can get results out of him in time.

I'll agree with joe, was surprised to see some talent eliminated from that tournament. Sons of Chaos come down to earth a bit for me with this result, and it's probably not a bad thing as they need to in order for your tag team division to be competitive. This lets another team get the belts and get elevated, while still avoiding dealing them a loss so it doesn't hurt them in any way. If you're doing what I think you might be, it is a good booking trick as winning the belts off actual champions is always bigger than winning a tournament and getting them from vacancy.

Throwing Necro Butcher to Chase Owens was a good idea too. You didn't say this in the write up, but it gives Owens a more out of the box opponent and shows he can work with somebody like that. It is going to be a race to the finish with Owens and Sean Waltman to Daniel Bryan, but Owens might have the edge with me if no other reasons and all things equal just because I would like to see talent spread out a bit more across promotions on Starrcade and not have it turn into the Windy City show again with so much representation, something that was necessary last time but shouldn't be again.

Cabana and Pearce is a contrast to the rest of the roster. Young, up and coming, and then these 2 older, more grizzled vets. Long term I think they serve little for this roster as the fan watching this stuff isn't going to be watching it for them but that scouting that young talent and seeing them develop, but early on here, I think they work great as a match on top to get a contender for Joe. I would have liked to have seen Pearce over Cabana as I think his style matches better to Joe, but either one is really the same thing at the end of the day. Should be a good match. As for Plunkett, he has come a long way in the last year in real life. I can remember being pretty unimpressed with him in OVW and his early SAW stuff, at least thinking he's nothing special, but he's gotten a lot better or had the opportunity to show it more the last 6 months. He made a good opponent here to get some offense on the champ but ultimately fall short. Hopefully your titles don't stop at Tag Team as you have the talent to add a singles title as well. No rush as I actually really like the fact you waited until show 6 to start a tournament and give 5 shows to give us some familiarity first.
