Houston Carson vs. "The Canadian Lion" Lance Erikson

Erikson doesn't win matches, he gets the other guy over and he does a great job doing so. Tonight is no different as Houston gets the victory.

DARK MATCH
Chance Prophet vs. Tyson Dean

This was a treat for the audience in attendence as Chance has a pretty nice following here in WV and it got the crowd pretty hot before the tape started to roll.


The show opened with the announcement that tonight would feature a double main event, Adam Pearce will go one on one with Samoa Joe! Also Arrick Andrews & Vordell Walker will have a chance to get back at the Sons of Chaos for costing them in the NWA East tag team tournament. Due to losing a pairing of teams Affluence got the advance to the next round leaving The Reapers and Hillbilly Deluxe to duke it out with the winner going into the finals against Affluence at the supercard!

SINGLES MATCH
JD Maverick vs. Drew Gulak

This was both mens television debut in NWA EAST, both men are solid but I had to pick a winner and I went with Maverick.


A few weeks ago Byron Wilcott was the victim of an assault from Chance Prophet, this week I had Chance continue his vigilante justice by attacking the NWA East champion, Lou Marconi with another violent attack. When I explained this gimmick to Chance I compared it to the way Bryan Cranston played Walter White in the beginning of breaking bad with that misguided moral compass. He's trying to do the right thing the wrong way.

TAG TEAM MATCH
The Rockstars of Wrestling(Rave & Morrison) w/ Lena Yada vs. The Handicapped Heroes(Gregory Iron & Zack Gowen)

I've delt with the Rockstars for quite awhile now and I'm sure they're happy to be working for me again. I had them really pick on the handicapped heroes to sell themselves as real pricks to the crowd. The Rockstars would pick up the win as well really getting heat with the crowd.

SINGLES MATCH
Shockwave the Robot vs. "Classic" Chase Owens w/ Steve Corino

Corino talked up that Owens could beat anyone, man or machine, which brought out Shockwave. Chase racked up another win with his discus elbow and Corino wouldn't let the crowd forget it.

SINGLES MATCH
"The Tokyo Monster" Kahagas vs. Necro Butcher

I really haven't had much for Kahagas since NWA East started but I really wanna do something with him, so I gave him an opponent that could absorb a ton of punishment and help establish Kahagas as the monster I really wanna use him as.

TAG TEAM MATCH
The Juicy Product(JT Dunn & David Starr) w/ Kimber Lee vs. The Maladjustments(Ron Mathis & Tanner Reynolds)

After meeting and working with the Juicy Product I was pretty high on them as a team. If they ever needed a promotion to call home after NWA Florida, I told them they'd have a place in NWA East. This match was to give them a bit of redemption for losing at Fall Brawl as they got the win over the Maladjustments.

NWA EAST TITLE MATCH
Jeremiah Plunkett vs. Lou Marconi(c)

I just wanted to see the reaction to this but having Marconi taking a beating earlier in the night Plunkett was able to eek out the victory to capture the NWA East title!

NWA EAST TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH
The Reapers(Matt Conard & Jason Gory) vs. Hillbilly Deluxe(Jock Samson & Jason Kincaid)

This was a bit obvious but had to go down with Hillbilly Deluxe getting the victory. It sets up a nice contrast in the title match between the Wealthy White Collar Affluence trying to oppress the blue collar country boys in a battle for the gold.

TAG TEAM MATCH
Arrick Andrews & Vordell Walker vs. The Sons of Chaos(Phil Monahan & Damien Wayne)

This match didn't have a clean finish for two reasons. It was another tease in this fued between my top two teams, and since I haven't had anything solid for Jax Dane I decided to have him come out to heel turn. Dane would spear both Andrews and Walker before joining Monahan and Wayne as a member of the Sons of Chaos. I think this turn is going to help all three men in the long run.

NONTITLE MATCH
Adam Pearce vs. Samoa Joe

I didn't wanna end the show with the interference angle in the last match so I planned to put this as the main event so the fans get a nice ending to the show. Colt Cabana would do guest commentary for the match to provide a bit of tension. I asked for a solid main event and these two veterans put together a great match that had Joe coming out on top to continue his wave of momentum.

The booking here continues to be top notch. While I found the last run in the UK flawed as week after week I felt like you would be contradicting something the previous show, these shows have been pretty flawless and among the best stuff I have seen on this board from a continuity perspective.

Maverick going over Gulak in the opener is a big kick off for him. I'm high on him as has been seen from past comments and hopefully you can sell others on him as well. I don't know what can be done with him to keep him interesting, but he's worth giving a shot to.

The Rockstars are a good addition to this roster for the tag team scene. Will they be serious contenders to the World Tag Team Title again? Maybe not, but they can play the role of veterans on this roster with a lot of newer teams that can get the run off them.

Chase Owens wins again, but it is approaching a stall now. A win over Shockwave, but he also just beat Shockwave 2 shows ago. I think the future's bright for him and it's not if, but when he will be the World Junior champion. I feel like joe got the edge on everybody else because Jay Lethal is the only wrestler who is actively involved in a storyline with Daniel Bryan so it's not just about the challenger getting a title shot at the title, but a match he's making me want to see by adding personal depth to it. As said with Mid Atlantic, that's not set in stone or anything since there's still a good month until any match would be announced and only my opinion today, but if that ends up the case, I think a 3 way with Owens vs Anthony Henry vs Sean Waltman would be a great addition to the undercard of Starrcade based on the way things are playing out. For Owens, it would be that big next step he needs to take to separate from the pack.

Like Jeremiah Plunkett taking the belt, and I would be remiss not to mention from my own feedback last time where I completely forgot you already had a singles title and suggesting you could add one lol. I was unfamiliar with his recent work as I just remembered him as a low card talent in OVW a couple years back, but then went out and watched some of his more recent stuff in SAW with a more critical eye, and he's gotten a lot better. Or had the chance to show it. Makes a great choice with this roster. Adding in the attack on Marconi earlier, and the attack by Chance Prophet with the character comparison to Walter White, and this is probably the best heat you've gotten for an actual upcoming match so far. Interested to see if they stay with Plunkett or break off into their own feud as either way works well.

I think that Jax Dane turn benefits him more than the Sons of Chaos, and it really could bring him up. He has the talent to be a top guy here, even the top guy and champion. It may be premature as the success short term depends in part of who he gets paired with since you seem to be stronger on the heel side right now, but you have shown patience in booking here so even if it takes a month or 2 before the right opponent for a feud comes along and he just gets some wins in the interim, he should do alright long term. Sons of Chaos the team feel close to breaking through, but I think as with Lethal, it helps that joe has me seeing The Young Bucks interact with Bennett & Taven in addition to being primed for a shot. Like Owens, if they end up a non factor in the title match itself, a match against a team like The Impact Players on the Starrcade undercard could really boost their profile and take them to that next level if they were to win.

Good main event. As I said last time, I think Samoa Joe vs Adam Pearce is the better match, and still got it anyway. A plus for making it non title as I have seen writers do things like have them fight for the title shot, then Pearce would have gotten one in this situation anyway. Cabana serving commentary was a good call too to add some build to this to their title match.

I like the match choices here, though it seems like a dark match for Prophet is a step down, while Plunkett gets a huge nod in winning your promotional title. That's good, as I like him and he's like everything NWA East embodies. Nice to see the Rockstars land where they probably should have been all along, and in good fashion. Joe getting a nice clean win over a top notch talent like Pearce in non-title action makes him look great, and I'm sure the two put on a classy effort, so you really can't go wrong with that as a main event attraction. The only pairing I was skeptical about was the opener with Maverick and Gulak, as both men traditionally work heel, but I think the contrast in personalities would do well, though I'm still wondering who would get over with the fans more.
