BLOCK A: In the opener of Block A, the NWA Mid Atlantic United States Heavyweight Champion, Cedric Alexander, picked up an impressive victory over "the Unchained Gorilla" Togi Makabe. Both men had already been eliminated from winning their group (although in Makabe's case, he had a shot of winning the runner up spot that would have put him in the number one contender's match), but each man was looking to prove something here tonight. Alexander pins Makabe with the Lumber Check. In the second Block A match, Rush temporarily moved into second place in the group with a victory over Go Shiozaki with La Lanza. Rush cannot win the group, but he can finish second with a victory tomorrow coupled with Nakamura loss. "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura picked up an important victory that propels him into second place when he beat "the Wrestler" Katsuyori Shibata, who was eliminated from contention in first or second place with the loss! The hard fought battle ended after Nakamura's Boma Ye to the back of Shibata's skull! "the Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada defeated Daisuke Sekimoto when he blasted Sekimoto with the Rainmaker and probably could have pinned him then; instead, he picked him up and dropped him with a second for good measure. Sekimoto enters new territory now; he was never defeated in Kenshiki's original run and he was undefeated in the Pride Festival up until now. He will look to rebound tomorrow when he faces Nakamura. The top two in Block A are nowhere close to being decided and we just have one day remaining!
BLOCK B: In the lower cards of Block B, "the Stardust Genius" Tetsuya Naito continued his too little, too late roll by picking up his second victory of the tournament over his former partner Yujiro Takahashi. A competitive match considering the relative stakes on the line, Naito finished Takahashi with the Stardust Press. The big man Bad Luck Fale also picked up his second victory of the tournament, this time defeating Dolph Ziggler with the Bad Luck Fall. Ziggler has had a rough couple of weeks. With the closure of California Pro Wrestling, Ziggler lost his permanent employment (he has since had his contract transferred to Impact Wrestling), but one has to wonder if that has played a part in him amassing just a 1-5 record heading into the last day. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles continued his streak of dominance in Block B with a win over Yuji Nagata. Nagata had started the tournament off with an impressive three straight victories, but he has been stuck at six points ever since. Tonight, he fell victim to the Styles Clash and has been eliminated from contention for either first or second place. Styles is guaranteed to finish in the top two with his win. "The Ace of the Universe" Hiroshi Tanahashi has been just as dominant as Styles and he eliminated "the Brave Warrior" Hirooki Goto tonight with the High Fly Flow. Block B is now down to just two men, AJ Styles and Hiroshi Tanahashi, and those two will face off on the final night of the Kenshiki Pride Festival.
INTERMISSION: A special announcement was hinted at during the finals regarding the future of NWA Kenshiki. It will take place during the tournament finals on Sunday, January 4th, at the historic Korakuen Hall.
