Rob Conway defeats J Best @ 2:50 via pinfall after the Ego Trip, a whiplash. The Ironman continues from where he left off in his return match last week, picking up a win over the obnoxious Best. Before the match, Best did some mic work and told Conway that he would give him the chance to turn around and walk out the door right now because he was about to face the best OVW had to offer. Conway said is that right, seemed to consider the offer, but answered with a right hand that floored Best to start the match. Needless to say from the time, this contest was essentially a 1 man show with the Ironman certainly not showing his age, but showing his extreme experience advantage over Best. Dean says that it is 1 more step towards his goal of becoming NWA World champion in 2015, but the Titus reminds everybody that the biggest step will come on January 17 at Retribution against Rudy Switchblade.
And sure enough, out comes Switchblade and The Blacklist, circling the ring. They don't want to wait until January 17, they want to take out Conway right now. Before that could happen though, Danny Davis was out and told them to just hold on. Before Switchblade wastes any energy, he might want to save it because he's personally signed a tag team match for today's TV in the main event. After all that has went down, Jamin Olivencia & Cliff Compton vs Rudy Switchblade & a partner of his choice. Switchblade and The Blacklist like that as do the fans, but Davis adds another caveat. Neither Shiloh Jonze nor French Stallion will be his partner because effective right now, they are barred from the building for the rest of the show! Switchblade is beside himself as security comes out and forces Jonze & Stallion out. Davis wishes him good luck in finding anybody in the back willing to team up with him because after what he's done, he's going to need it. Just like last week at the SNS, Switchblade is thrown into a match with little prep time. A trend that Dean wouldn't mind seeing continue for that S.o.B.

Tag Team champions Raul Lamotta & The Mexicutioner defeat Aaron Sky & Rump Thump in a non title match @ 5:32 when Mexicutioner pinned Rump Thump after a spear. With Robbie Walker injured last week, the commentators said it was now official that he will be out approximately 3 months. This leaves Sky without a tag team partner in the title match, although the assumption here is a try out of sorts for Rump Thump. They did show some good teamwork at times, but ultimately fell short when Thump was going for the Rumper Stumper. Mexcutioner held onto the ropes as Rump leaped back towards him, and then when he turned, charged with the spear. Sky considered trying to break up the count, but didn't bother. Instead he reserved himself and then just left, seemingly a little unimpressed maybe. Titus says why should be impressed, Rump Thump just lost him a match. Dean says time is running out for Sky as we are only a week away, which Gilbert segues into the clock ticking on Rudy Switchblade to find a partner at less than an hour from now.

Paredyse defeats TV champion Eric Locker in a non title match @ 6:19 via DQ thanks to interference from The Psychedelic Superstar Chris Silvio & Mary Jane. Paredyse seemed to be building momentum en route to perhaps dealing the TV champion his first ever loss by pinfall, but from the back came Mary Jane. She distracted the referee, allowing for Silvio to come in from the other way and catch Paredyse off guard with the Psychedelic Superpunch behind the ref's back. Or so was the idea. The referee turned in time and called for the bell. Locker was up and joined Silvio in a double team kick down until from the back came Metal Master to a big pop. Silvio exited to the outside, while Locker stayed to fight. Metal Master sent him into the ropes, but Locker held on and instead dropped out to join Silvio on the floor. Some revenge by Silvio & his valet for the actions of Paredyse last week, but it all comes to a head at Retribution when the 2 will meet 1 on 1 in the ring. As for Locker, his days as champion may be numbered yet because he has Metal Master once more at the iPPV, but it will be in OVW's first ever Ultimate X match. Titus calls that an outrage as Locker is a wrestler, not some acrobatic daredevil. Dean says he should have thought about that before the antics he's pulled the last 3 times he fought the masked former champion.

Ryan Howe defeats Dapper Dan @ 5:36 via pinfall after the Chart Topper, a blockbuster DDT from the second rope. This was a rematch a long time coming for The Rockstar as Dapper Dan got one over on him back on the December 6 edition of TV thanks to outside interference. The Dapper one was close to the win at times today, but Howe was able to avoid the German suplex and instead battle free and make the comeback to take the win. After the match, out came Aaron Sky from the back. He requested a mic and told everybody that for those not in the know, his partner Robbie Walker was injured last week and will be out 3 months. That means he will be out for their shot at Retribution, but Walker's loss could be Howe's gain. He was impressed with what he just saw and he wants to know if Howe will be his partner. Think about it, Aaron Sky, Rockstar Ryan Howe, The Skyrockers. Howe ponders it, but he says no, something both Dean & Gilbert agree with as why would Howe want to team with him after what happened earlier with Rump Thump and the problems with Walker in the preceding weeks. Sky is insistent though. Just give it a chance next week on TV first. If it doesn't work out, fine. Howe reluctantly agrees to it, saying ok, 1 chance off mic. Sky tells him he won't regret that decision.

Heidi Lovelace defeats Ray Lynn @ 4:06 via pinfall after a frog splash. A big return for the former Women's champion in her first match since November 8 at the Saturday Night Special, a losing affair to Tracy Smothers. Now she has her chance at revenge and she looks to be back and better than ever according to Dean & Gilbert. Smothers is less impressed on commentary, feeling that beating some bleach blonde bimbo with an IQ lower than the number of fingers he has ain't the same as Dirty South. Need he remind them that he is the original Wild Eyed Southern Boy, and he already beat Heidi, or rather Linda Lovelace once, so he'll be glad to do it again. Just then though, a video begins to play. Holy $#!^ do the fans go wild for this when they take notice of the screen ...
Smothers is outraged at this news as the fans cheer. He can't believe it! Jerry Lawler to be the referee of the Loser Leaves Town match?! Gigantic news as Smothers & Belle head to the back upset as this news can't in any way favor Dirty South. A no nonsense referee like The King? The Smothers family won't be doing their usual routine of rule breaking this time around and they had better get a game plan going fast.

Match #6
Rudy Switchblade & Rob Terry defeat Jamin Olivencia & Cliff Compton @ 9:25 when Switchblade pinned Olivencia after The RudyKO, a jumping cutter. Huge win for Switchblade as he pins the Heavyweight champion here, the first time Olivencia has been pinned or submitted to lose a match since the April 5 Saturday Night Special over 9 months ago. Switchblade in the match did his best to avoid coming in until Terry had sufficiently weakened the opposition first. Terry was trying to finish what he started last week at the SNS against Olivencia in their non title match as well. In the end, Compton was in with Terry and being worked over. Out of nowhere, Compton managed to catch Terry and run to the corner, delivering his springboard tornado DDT, the Cliffhanger. Both were looking for the hot tag as Compton was too weak to capitalize. Switchblade got in first, but was unable to get to Compton before he could slap the hand of Olivencia. The champion was in and had a lot to give to the locker room turncoat. After some offense, he went for the Standing O, but Switchblade was able to shove him off. He went for a clothesline, but Olivencia ducked. As they turned, the champ connected with a clothesline of his own and covered, but Terry broke up the count. This brought in Compton and all 4 were going at it. Compton would send Terry into the ropes and duck a big clothesline, but it caught Olivencia. Switchblade quickly capitalized by catching Olivencia with the jumping cutter as Terry prevented Compton from breaking up the count. A miscommunication costs Olivencia & Compton, but Titus has to think that secretly Compton is pleased with that result as it may mean that Olivencia's luck is running out.
After the match, Switchblade rolled out and celebrated the win, rightfully so having pinned the champion. Terry is with Danger when from the back on crutches comes Michael Hayes! Terry has the prosthetic leg and the 2 just laugh at what they must think is just a feeble attempt by him. Dean takes a mic and brings it to Hayes. He tells them that if Ohio Valley will not sanction a match, he will bring the fight to them. Danger answers back that while this might not be comparable to going into war in Iraq, it is still The Bully. A genetic freak, he even has 3 legs now. The 2 laugh as Dean calls them sick. TPT heads back out and is adamant this match will not be taking place. Hayes says that as somebody that fought for this country, he wants to remind TPT of something. It's called the Pledge of Allegiance, and he wants everybody in the Davis Arena, any American watching with any pride, any heart, any soul, he wants them to join him. "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Replublic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Never mind the United States of America as this gets the united fans of the Davis Arena. TPT says if Hayes wants justice at Retribution, it's against better judgment, but he's got the chance to get it. Michael Hayes vs Rob Terry, 1 on 1. Danger laughs as Terry salivates at the idea. Gilbert wonders if the heat of the moment has clouded decision making here. A reminder though to come back next week, the last show before Retribution!
Websclusive match #1
The Body Guy defeats Ram Jam Jon Ramser @ 4:42 via pinfall after a pedigree. Body Guy does his best low card heel comedy routine before the match saying that he'd like to say some words to Ram Jam first, except he knows he can't hear them anyway. Instead he will just have to show him what he is going to do to his ex body guard Melvin Maximus at Retribution. Body Guy lived up to his words, but as commentators The Fan Advocate Terry Boddie and Nick Dinsmore noted, Ram Jam is not Melvin Maximus. A good 200 pounds of difference between them. Dinsmore however adds that as a competitor himself, he knows you can't discount injury and we have not seen Maximus since that cowardly attack last week, something that will be key to the outcome. Straight up, Body Guy doesn't stand a chance, but factor that in and his disregard for the rules, he can't be counted out from finding a way to win at the iPPV.VS |
Websclusive match #2
The Wild Boyz defeat The No Class Connection @ 5:31 when Eddie Diamond pinned Deonta Davis after a flying elbow smash from the top rope. The wins just keep coming for EFD & The Party Starter Bud Dwight since their return to TV on December 13. What that means for them in the Tag Team Title match at Retribution against 3 other teams though is anybody's guess. Davis & Leon Shelly have now officially been dubbed The No Class Connection for those at home keeping score. Dinsmore adds that unfortunately for them, those keeping score will also note that their win count still stands at 0.VS |
