LIVE STREAM from Hulu Plus
The announce team for the evening, Josh Mathews and Jeremy Borash, welcome everybody to the show, and run down what is sure to be a big card! Mathews points out there are some big matches tonight, but none bigger than Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn! Borash notes that the match is marred with controversy under the circumstances that Zayn earned the shot. Mathews goes on to say that Zayn is a true professional and will prove his worth tonight, and will no doubt silence the haters, and Borash can't help but agree with that assessment as we head into the ring, where we'll see some Knockouts action to start things off this evening!
Ivelisse vs. Mia Yim
Yim would try playing mind games with the Puerto Rican knock out, but Ivelisse was fierce and determined in this contest. Ivelisse would lock down the speedy and agile Yim in a tight Guillotine Choke, forcing her to tap out
Roderick Strong vs. Chris Sabin
Sabin has had some recent singles success, along with a string of tag team wins, while Strong has only recently fond any footing with a singles win. Strong seemed more determined to succeed here, as his tag team partner recently left and he needed to establish himself as a singles star. Strong catch Sabin into the Fireman's Carry Gutbuster, followed by the Sick Kick to put Sabin down long enough for the three count.
Candice LeRae vs. Santana Garrett
Both of these ladies have big repertoires and a lot of agility, but LeRae was able to time her counters and keep the pace where she wanted it, and it was clear early on she had the momentum on her side. The Canadian knockout delivers her Heartbreaker finisher to Garrett, and that was enough to keep her down for the three.
"The World Warrior" Low Ki vs. Alex Shelley
Low Ki has down nearly all there is to do in wrestling, besides holding the World Heavyweight championship, and tonight he faced another man who's done quite a bit in Alex Shelley. Shelley had fire in his belly here, as he watched his partner take a fall earlier and seemed to want to ground Low Ki and submit him. Ki showed his ability on the mat and eventually got the match back standing, where he showed his ability to eat every big shot Shelley threw at him and then delivered many bigger shots of his own. Ki managed to reverse a Sliced Bread and hang up Shelley in the ropes, following up with a Rope Hung Warrior's Way to get a three count on Detroit native in a big debut victory.
Kyle O'Reilly w/ Bobby Fish vs. Seth Rollins
Current Impact Wrestling Tag Team champion, Kyle O'Reilly, came out looking very impressive against the vicious Seth Rollins. O'Reilly would actually land most of the offense in this match, trying for multiple armbars, chokes, and suplexes, but Rollins showed his grit, trying to break a recent losing streak induced partially by Samoa Joe. Rollins would turn things around by reversing a Triangle Choke into a buckle bomb, and followed up with a Kneeling Superkick. Rollins would deliver his Blackout Stomp, but O'Reilly would somehow manage to kick out! This lead to Rollins dusting off his old finisher, God's Last Gift, which was enough to hold down O'Reilly for the three.
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. Jay Lethal & Ricochet
Current X Division champion, Jay Lethal, and former World Jr. champion, Ricochet, took on World Tag Team title hopefuls the Young Bucks here in a spectacular display of athleticism. Lethal and Ricochet may not be regular team mates, but these two really put together some impressive tandem moves and were able to get a number of near falls that had these fans on the edge of their seats. The Jacksons would manage to deliver their IndyTaker after a lot of struggle and reversals, taking down Ricochet for the three count.
Matt Jackson gets on the mic and says at StarrCade, the Pistols have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, because the Young Bucks are comin' for what's been long overdue to them and that's the World Tag Team titles! Nick Jackson takes the microphone nexts and announces that any way you slice it, the best tag team in the world is leaving with those belts, and everybody knows the world over who the best are, and that's the Young Bucks! The whole wrestling world had better prepare for the biggest Superkick party of the century, cause on January 25th, the Jacksons are takin' over, jabronies!
NWA World Heavyweight Championship
"The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe (c) vs. Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn earned this shot in part because of interference by Samoa Joe, at least that's the way it seemed as Joe choked out Seth Rollins as he en route to trying to finish the match against Zayn. Zayn looked like he knew there was some speculation as to whether or not he should be in this match, and he was ready to prove himself tonight. Joe had his game face on and looked to keep the exciting and high energy Canadian down, attempting to punish him with submission holds and grounded strikes, but Zayn would survive the onslaught and eventually send Joe out of the ring with a Frankensteiner. Zayn would land some big shots on the outside and then wowed the fans with by diving through the bottom ropes from the adjacent side of the floor and catching Joe with a Swinging DDT! Back in the ring, Zayn goes for his Helluva Kick in the corner, but Joe catches him and slams him with a Bridging Powerbomb, which he transitions to an STF after a kick out. Zayn makes it to the ropes, but Joe yells out and really begins laying into Zayn with kicks and slaps, but Zayn yells back and blasts Joe with inside elbows. The two men exchange chops in the middle of the ring until Joe attempts a clothesline, only to have it ducked and then get caught with a Dropkick! Zayn wrings the arm and then heads up the ropes, attempting to deliver a Swinging DDT, but Joe reverses into a Northern Lights Suplex! Zayn kicks out of a bridge, but Joe reverses it into a Cross Armbar and Zayn looks like he's in trouble! Zayn gets to the ropes though and these Orlando fans are on their feet! Joe sends Zayn into the ropes and tries to storm in, but Zayn sides steps it and kicks him to the back of the head, attempting a Brainbuster soon after, but Joe reverses it and catches Zayn with a Lariat for his trouble! Joe picks up Zayn and sends him into the corner with a series of chops, followed by a series of Kawada kicks to the face, and then about five Lariats in the corner! The fans can't believe this monster display, and Joe goes for the kill, hoisting up Zayn onto the buckles and then pulling him out and drilling him with the Muscle Buster! Joe exerted himself a lot and took just a second to cover, and it was a second too much, as Zayn kicks out! Joe can't believe it, but goes back on the kill, grabbing Zayn and taking him over with a German Suplex, followed by another, and then another! Joe bridges and you think he's going to pin, but he rolls through and then Zayn is caught in the Coquina Clutch! There is no escape here, and Zayn is tapping in the center of the ring!
Zayn continues to tap, but it is clear Joe has snapped and he's not letting go... that is until out comes AJ STYLES! The Impact Wrestling champion heads out, who will be facing Samoa Joe at StarrCade for the World Heavyweight title, and he mounts Joe and begins punching him straight to the face, causing him to release the hold on Zayn! Joe is up and goes for a low kick, but Styles catches it and Dragon Screws the champion over, and then latches on with his Calf Slicer! Joe is tapping like crazy, reaching and grabbing for the ropes, and the officials are out to the ring and trying to break things up! Joe hobbles away as Styles is pulled off. Joe grabs his belt, shuffling up the ramp in pain as Styles helps up Zayn, and these fans give him a big chant as this show comes to an end!
