Windy City TV: Fight Night 33 (09/01/15)
Where: Evoque Nightclub, Chicago, IL
When: Friday 9th of January, 2015
Attendance: 1,200 (No vacancy)
Commentators: Michael Cole & Rene Young
Interviewer: Rockstar Spud
Ring Announcer: So Cal Val
Fight Night opens with a new opening sequence for the new year, the production has been given a new lick of paint, and there's also been a change in the commentary booth it seems with Michael Cole coming in to do play-by-play and Rene Young shifting to a co-commentry role. So no Paul Heyman in the booth tonight. Maybe the Powers That Be (P.T.B), or Triple H, wasn't happy with his taking it upon himself to hound Sean Waltman for a random drug test last Fight Night.
Show opens in-ring with the Chief of Staff Triple H in a grey suit with mike in hand. Trips say's that Windy City did some good business on the road with their tours recently, but he thinks it's time to bring the shows back to where they belong - to downtown Chicago! Big pops from the rowdy sell-out crowd in the tighly packed nightclub for that announcement that is sure to please the fans to see more of Windy City in Chicago!
Trips then says that Windy City did advertise the return of CHRIS MASTERS on this show, but unfortunately there have been some medical & therefore insurance issues with they are told his shoulder still. Triple H says he's not sure what to make of this, but former Heavyweight Champion Chris Masters has sent word to the Windy City HQ and the P.T.B that he will be ready to return at the NWA Pay-Per-View STARCADE and that he has something important to say to a certain SAMOA JOE!
But all of that aside, Trips says that just means that tonight Windy City can concentrate on crowning their new Heavyweight Champion to replace the former champ "The Masterpiece", who was forced to vacate the title after suffering an injury via the hands of the NWA World Champion Samoa Joe.
The Heavyweight Title Tournament is now at the Semi-Final stage and 4 of the very best top talents in Windy City, and perhaps the NWA, remain in the form of "The Eater of Worlds" BRAY WYATT - KENTA - MARK 'Air' JINDRAK - "Balls of Steel" KEVIN STEEN - all of whom with very real shots at becoming the new NWA Windy City Heavyweight Champion...and the semi-finals are up next after the break!

~1st Commercial Break~
1. NWA Windy City Heavyweight Title Tournament Semi-Final (No-Time-Limit)
"The Eater of Worlds" Bray Wyatt [Cyber TV Champ] w/Luke Harper def. KENTA in 11:08 after a belting back and forth match that was a pretty stiff encounter, thanks to interference once again from The Briscoes.
With Luke Harper distracting the ref staring at him on the ring apron with a dead eye stare, Jay Briscoe came out of literally nowhere to beckon KENTA on the the opposite side of the ring apron which allowed his brother Mark to sneak in from behind. KENTA turned to face Mark but he's no mug, he knew what was coming after what the Briscoes did to Drew McIntrye, he knew their M.O - he turned away from Jay and as he did he pulled out some brassknucks and smashed Mark right in the mouth with them.
But after taking a lot of punishment in the grueling match he was slow to turn back around to see what Jay was up to and swung and missed wildly, took a kick to the gut from a now in-ring Jay Briscoe. Double-under-hooks from Jay who hit a J-Driller. Jay grabs Mark and pulls him out as they exit. Bray makes the cover as the ref turns back around away from Luke Harpers hypnotizing eyes to pick up the huge victory which sends him into the final, with a shot at becoming champion.
A manically smiling Bray Wyatt stands in the ring with Luke Harper stood right behind him in a protective stance, maybe they are still not sure of The Briscoes and of what they have summoned?! The Briscoes leave and we head to the break.

*We are back and we see SEAN WALTMAN in the C.O.S Trips's office, the current ZG Champion, but belt-less after he dropped his championship belt trying to get away from PAUL HEYMAN and his Drug Tester Doc last Fight Night after beating Anthony Henry impressively.
Sean is asking HHH what was up with that doc chasing him and what's he is going to do about Heyman stealing his belt?
Trips says that he wasn't happy with Heyman, a commentator, taking these things into his own hands and he's already seen fit to replace Heyman in the commentary booth as a result with Michael Cole.. He says that Heyman left without too much trouble earlier today when he fired him in this very office prior to the show going live, and he's not sure why. A guy like Heyman would surely kick up a fuss! The Game said that Heyman told him that he thinks Sean is a drugs cheat, pure and simple and he wouldn't return the ZG Championship Belt which he didn't bring with him today convienantly.
Waltman says his accusation is "pure bullshit!", he says the fact is it was Heyman himself back in May of 2014 who tried to get Waltman on the juice himself! - when he said Waltman should "consider his options"! Waltman said Heyman was scouting him. He wanted to be his manager, and he wanted him in the Heyman Exchange - but he also wanted him on the juice and Waltman flatly turned him down, and now this is just sour grapes, a grudge and unfounded accusations!
Triple H tells Sean that he believes him, he's been a friend for many years, and he will always take his word as his bond...and what he says makes sense. But, Trips says he won't be doing his duty as Chief of Staff if he doesn't follow up on anything like this. So it has been decided as a result of last week, that Heyman's random drug test was not an official one so Waltman faces no action...BUT if Sean wants to compete tonight against say Zero Gravity Cup Winner ADRIAN NEVILLE and NWA World Jnr Heavyweight Champ DANIEL BRYAN in a triple threat non-title match - a match that a win in would certainly put him right back in the mix for a shot at becoming NWA World Jnr Heavyweight Champion at the next PPV after Starcade where Jay Lethal gets his shot....that he would have to volunteer to take a drug test right here tonight in order to take part. The Game's raised eyebrows showed that he fully expected Waltman to snap his hand off at this offer, but instead "The Kid" motioned that he had a bad-back after his match with Henry last Fight Night and can't compete tonight before he quickly made his excuses and left.*
~Cole and Rene speculate on that, Rene saying Waltman's actions make him look a little guilty but Cole saying if he's got a bad back, he's got a bad back. Rene say's yeah, and bad-backs are hard to disprove! Cole turns the attention onto Heyman as he wonders why he didn't kick off when he was fired and how are Windy City going to get the ZG Championship Belt back.~

2. NWA Windy City Heavyweight Title Tournament Semi-Final (No-Time-Limit)
"Balls of Steel" Kevin Steen def. Mark "Air" Jindrak in a surprisingly clean matchup in 9:25 as Steen knocks off the former NWA North American Champion with a quickly dispatched and impromptu sommersault legdrop onto the neck of Jindrak after the big man had seconds earlier missed an 'Air Jindrak' attempt from the top rope. Good match, good solid win for Steen over a top ranked NWA-wide talent in Jindrak.

~Michael Cole announces some big news that the company has signed two very powerful and imposing new talents in the form of Alexander Rusev & Uhaa Nation!! - we see a brief look at the Chicago Presser of their contract signing earlier in the week. Cole announces that these two behemoths will debut on the next Fight Night in style...against each other in what promises to be a huge collision!~
---
3. Womens 8-Woman Tag Match (10-Min-Time-Limit)
Christina Von Eerie, MsChif, Angelina Love & Velvet Sky def. Serena Deeb, Brooke Tessmacher, Nattie Neidhart & LuFisto in 3:23 when Angelina Love & Velvet Sky combined to put away Tessmacher with a neat trip, and school-girl double team combo. Just as Love & Sky was celebrating their nice team work alongside Von Eerie & MsChif, the striking music of none other than "KHARMA" KIA STEVENS hit the sound systems and out marched the menacing enigma known as Kharma!
Eerie & MsChif escaped out of the ring pronto, as did the losing girls team, leaving Love & Sky alone in the ring apparently stuck unable to move, something we have seen before from Stevens elsewhere, she seems to hypnotize people with her presence.
Kia Stevens laughed at the Beautiful People from the ring apron with a weird look on her face as they stood there in real fright. Khama entered the ring and Love seemed to panic and shoved Velvet Sky right into the path of the 3-times NWA Worlds Womens Champion Kharma to save herself and Sky fell victim to a big Kharma Bomb! Angelina Love made her escape but at the expense of her old partner!

*We come back from ad's and see "The Only Star" Daniel Puder warming up backstage. He's got a heavy bag on the ground and is putting some serious whack into some ground-n-pound to the bag when Rockstar Spud walks into frame. Spud looks to look the other way and tries sneak past but is caught by the ever-always-angry Puder.
Puder says he wonders why he wasn't told that Ken Shamrock was in the house back-stage and ready to go in wrestling attire last Fight Night - oh right, that's because there's obviously an agenda to keep this Windy City legend down and away from the title scene by keeping him off the shows and not giving him matches - and this Shamrock set-up was the icing on the cake to try and make him look bad!
Spud say's that is nothing of the sort and Puder had his chance in the Heavyweight Title tournament and for reasons only known to him decided not to take it and intentionally threw the match against Bray Wyatt.
Puder took that in, and said the truth is he's been starved of good match making in Windy City over the last year and some might say that this has been vindictive planning by the P.T.B Puder blames them saying they have tried to downgrade his status in Windy City Pro Wrestling with their manipulation and lack of good matches so why should he perform like a performing monkey when they wanted him too? Puder says he's had enough! He told Spud he knows because he was there, Puder carried this organisation for over a year as the Heavyweight Champion, was the best and first champion in the history of this organisation and got no thanks for it! In the promotions early years the future of this company rested squarely on his shoulders... but now they have signed a load of guys from "the big show" he's apparently no longer a priority. Puder says the P.T.B are wasiting his drawing potential, and now as a result he's got ZERO interest in holding any belts or acolades in Windy City Pro Wrestling and that's the reason he didn't give two tosses about the match with Bray Wyatt!
Puder tells Spud he can stick his Heavyweight Title up his big nose! At this moment of his career, after his treatment... he's only interested in the money. Only interested in the "big money fights".
Puder told Rockstar Spud that tonight he would perform in the ring in a match on Fight Night for the last time on 'their' terms. Puder said he will only fight in "super-fights", from here going on forward and he can tell Triple H that - saying as he seems to allow an outsider in Ken Shamrock - a man with probably no future in Chicago after their match - to blind-side him and put his filthy hands on him?!, a top Windy City talent knowingly??? - then he had better get that match signed and pay Shamrock what he wants to make the most of Daniel Puder's contract - because after tonight Daniel Puder will not be performing against just anyone like a Rockstar Spud (the present Spud squirms) like a Crash Test Dummy, or a Marion Fucking Fontaine - so they had better make the most of Daniel Puder and if they don't, then Puder himself will cause enough shit, cause enough noise to create his own Super Fights!
Puder removes his MMA gloves and tosses them at Rockstar Spud and leaves with a walk of determination*

~4th Commercial Break~
4. Singles Match (10-Min-Time-Limit)
"The Only Star" Daniel Puder def. "The Bastard" Dave Mastiff in 1:28 with a standing guillotine choke to record the submission victory and ram home his earlier statement with a clear-cut and quick victory over the big man Mastiff, as Puder caught him rushing in head-first with the choke and after the match landed a couple of unanswered hard 12-to-6 downward elbows against the defenseless Mastiff with the ref's back turned, which went unpunished.

*Next up we get back-2-back pre-taped promos from the two men who will compete in the NWA North American Heavyweight Title Match at Starcade in an EXTREME RULES match, JOHN CENA and BULLY RAY. We are informed by Cole & Young that due to the volotile nature of the feud between these two, the P.T.B could not in any good sense allow the two of them to be together in the same building tonight, so they have visted both men at their homes with camera men and allowed them the opportunity to speak to the fans of the NWA.
JOHN CENA the Champion is up first. John looks intense and focussed, but at the same time calm. Cena says that this is a big match and he will speak the truth and admit that it's possible Bully Ray will beat him at Starcade. Bully is a top contender, a real threat, and this Extreme Rules match is his kind of match...but he will have it no other way! Cena says he likes to do things the hard way, he likes to earn his stripes with real blood, sweat and tears and he's expected perhaps all 3 of them to happen at Starcade. Cena says that this all started with Bully Ray's jealousy over the way John Cena came into Windy City and faced up to his critics in the Chicago crowd. Cena says he was not welcomed here in Chicago when he arrived, and although some people still do not like him, some people have changed their mind after seeing his hard work, and those that still do not like him, they should now respect him! Cena expanded by saying Bully Ray wants to be the big-man on campus, he's a "Bully" after all, and he could not stand by and watch someone win over the people. Bully Ray wanted the John Cena hate to continue and for that reason, and also a big scoop of jealously, Bully Ray took it upon himself to brutally attack John Cena with steel chairs and his steel chain after Cena's historic NWA North American Title win over Jindrak at Fall Brawl!
Cena says he took the 2-on-1 beat-downs from Bully Ray and Daniel Puder when this first begun, because that was just business and how this game works - but what Bully Ray did at Fall Brawl he could not let slide. John Cena is drawing a line in the sand, and standing up to Bullys around the world by setting an example. He will go into the lions den at Starcade and face Bully Ray in Bullly Ray's kind of match and he will emerge victorious and if he doesn't, he will show that he takes no shit from nobody and will go down fighting like the real peoples champion he is!
---
BULLY RAY is next. Bully Ray is sat at home in Florida with his trusty thick chain sat around his neck.
Bully Ray tells us to and we paraphrase loosely - tu listin ear tu diz Noo Yawkez - dat e shawed n NWA South Beach jus wut a threat e canna-bee n-nee promoshion. He says Bully Ray shad bee a top fightin staa fur da Warld Tite-le n-da NWA, bat sum peepoles sem tu lak tu hotshaat gouuns and faks like Jaawn Seanaaa, a mun uoo asn't worked outa nywhay n da NWA prio tu iz Windi Citi stant. 5. Non-Title Match: NWA World Jnr Heavyweight Champion verses Zero Gravity Cup Winner! (10-Min-Time-Limit)
Daniel Bryan def. Adrian Neville in 14:24 after the match was originally called a draw after the 10 min-time-limit expired. Adrian Neville asked for 5 more minutes and Bryan accepted!
The finish came when SEAN WALTMAN ran in through the crowd and slid into the ring and took down an unawares Neville with a spinning heel-kick with the ref down after an accidental clash between the ref and Bryan. Bryan didn't see the interference as he was checking on the ref. Bryan saw a dazed and confused Neville getting back to his feet and immediately headed to the corner and charged and hit his Busaiku Knee Kick, hooked the leg and picked-up the victory!
Bryan celebrates his win and then tries to help Neville back to his feet, then he see's Sean Waltman on the outside looking on smug and realises something must be up. Bryan gets on the mic after the match and keeps it nice and simple, he tell's Waltman he will get what's coming to him soon enough, but JAY LETHAL is next on his list of men who he will put to the sword and will show once again that he's the best wrestler in the world, and the greatest NWA World Jnr Heavyweight Champion of the modern era!
---
Michael Cole and Rene Young speculate that Waltman didn't want up-and-comer and Zero Gravity Cup winner Neville to pick up any more momentum, or maybe perhaps he didn't want anyone to beat Daniel Bryan other than him?! Whatever the case, Waltman is again showing a heel side tonight. Cole says he doesn't blame him....time isn't on his side in his quest to win major NWA gold or retire in what would now be just a few months away from his deadline date.
Young says that whatever Waltman has going on, she can't wait to watch Daniel Bryan defend the championship against Impact Wrestling's Jay Lethal at Starcade!
~5th Commercial Break~

6. NWA Windy City Womens Championship - Submission Only Match (15-Min-Time-Limit)
*NWA World Womens Champion AJ Lee is the special guest referee
Paige [c] def. April Davids with the Scorpion Crosslock in 12:10 in what was the 3rd rubber-match between Paige and April Davids. Davids was the agressor for most of the match but she made a mistake and paid for it as Paige showed why she has the most championship reign days in Windy City History under her belt as she capitliased and latched on the Scorpion Crosslock. April fought it valiantly but she eventually had to give, she submitted verbally, and AJ Lee the special ref and opponent for Paige at Starcade for her NWA World Womens Championship had to call it and signal for the bell.
Paige and AJ had been at odd's throughout the match as Paige felt that AJ Lee was picking on her as AJ foiled all Paige's dirty tactic attempts. With April Davids having given up, Paige kept the hold onto her rival and really put it to her beaten foe. AJ Lee threatened to DQ Paige if she didn't release the hold, but instead AJ suddenly slapped Paige right across the face and Paige dropped the hold.
AJ Lee's face flashed between a smile, a stern intense face, and back again to a smile as she faced up to Paige who was holding her cheek with a scowl on her face. AJ Lee was passed her championship belt, and she raised it up into the air right in Paige's face. Not to be out-done, Paige did the same with her NWA Windy City Womens Championship. Both girls head-to-head, with their belts raised into the air.
~6th & Final Commercial Break~
*Back from the final break, from here on out, we are ad-free until the show goes off the air. We go backstage and see KOFI KINGSTON sat backstage in his locker room.
Kofi looks depressed and has his head in his hands. He looks up at the camera, and pushes back his deadlocked hair, and seems to realise the significance that he could have lost that hair in his match against Rey Mysterio in the main-event of the last Fight Night.
The Master of the 'Trouble-In-Paradise' says that the name of his most feared move is a very apt name. There is trouble in paradise. Sure, he beat Rey Mysterio last Fight Night in the biggest match of his career. But he didn't really want to be in that position in the first place. He didn't want to have to unmask his friend Rey Mysterio and retire a legend.
But Kofi says in the last few days he has realised one thing. He realises what Rey Mysterio has done. Rey Mysterio has made him realise just what a disloyal and disrespectful pack of douchebags the fans really are. Kofi says he now realises that the fans are feckle. He goes on to say that all his career all he has ever done is wrestle for the fans and try to entertain them, sometimes to his determent, but still he tried to entertain them even when it hurt him to do so.
Kingston informs us that he will entertain the fans no more. Good-guy Kofi Kingston is now dead! The fans are now dead to him!!! He tried to entertain them, and all it got him is absolutely nowhere in his career when a man of his talents should be main-eventing every single week, he should be involved in NWA PPV's, he should be at Starcade - but the match with Ray was the first time in years he's done anything of note other than be in the match of the night every other show he was on and come up with some fancy flashy moves now and again.
Kofi Kingston says he now realises what Rey Mysterio has done for him. When Rey challenged him to the Hair vs Mask match with little warning a bit out of the blue, he was his friend, and he's still his friend now. Rey Mysterio is a legend. He's wrestled for years trying to entertain the fans, but the last year they have treated him like yesterdays news because his injuries caught up with him at times. They showed him zero respect. Kofi said he refused to take Rey's mask because he has a degree of class and respect that the fans he now realises, that word again, just do not have!!!
Kofi finishes with saying Rey does not want to happen to Kofi Kingston what happened to him, Rey wants Kofi Kingston to take what is his and the fans be dammed!!!
-Scene fades with a very intense and angry Kofi staring right at the camera.*
---
Cole & Young have a discussion about Kofi Kingston. Cole says he understands Kofi's feelings on this matter, the fans won't be there cheering his name when his knees are knackered like Rey Mysterios and he can't get out of bed in the mornings. Young disagrees, she says Kofi should never turn his back on the fans, they are the ones that pay the wages after all and that Kofi should have been satisifed with his spot.
---
*Just as the main-event is about to go on, Triple H is backstage with Bray Wyatt, The Briscoes & Luke Harper. Trips tells The Briscoes and Harper that they are banned from ringside for the main-event! They look set to defy him, until Trips tells them that he will give Kevin Steen the title if a DQ is called for Steen so they had better be careful with any interruptions they had planned, this comment and new angle seemed to give the group something to think about as Bray was holding his lantern ready to make his entry to the ring.*
7. MAIN-EVENT: NWA Windy City Heavyweight Title Tournament Final (No-Time-Limit)
"Balls of Steel" Kevin Steen verses "The Eater of Worlds" Bray Wyatt w/The Briscoes & Luke Harper
This match was all about fast, hard hitting action, as both men went back and forth with several near falls towards the end that had the fans on their feet. Luke Harper and The Briscoes tried to interfere in the match but they was stopped in their tracks from any sneaky attacks as DREW MCINTRYE and KENTA came down to ringside to ward off The Briscoes and Harper so that what happpened to them wouldn't happen to Steen.
Thwarted from numerous sneaky interference attempts, Harper and Briscoes was reduced to the possibility of blatant interference but if they tried anything obvious Bray would be DQ'd and the title would be Steen's, so this bout was largely a clean-match-up thanks to McIntrye and KENTA.
Bray went for Sister Abigail but Steen reversed it and put Wyatt down with an inverted facebuster. Steen quickly scaled the ropes...The Briscoes was tempted to trip him from the top but they knew they just couldn't! Steen lands a Swantom Bomb and makes the cover and gets the three count!!!
Kevin Steen is your new Heavyweight Champion of Windy City Pro Wrestling!!
As soon as the bell sounds, The Briscoes and Harper dive in and attack Steen but after a quick but fantastic back and forth 6-man brawl, Harper & The Briscoes are sent packing by Steen, McIntrye & KENTA. Harper drags Bray out of the ring and Steen is presented with the Championship Belt which he cradles to his chest. McIntrye and KENTA raise Steen up on their shoulders and parade around the ring to the fans applause. McIntrye and KENTA then let the new champ down and shaking his hand leave Kevin Steen alone in the ring, as streamers are thrown in the ring, holding the Heavyweight Title aloft.
Winner: "Balls of Steel" Kevin Steen def. Bray Wyatt with a Swanton Bomb in 18:24 to win the vacant NWA Windy City Heavyweight Title!
