Chris Silvio & Eric Locker defeat Paredyse & Metal Master @ 6:43 when Locker pinned Paredyse after the Hurt Locker, an electric chair into a German suplex. Hot opener as 2 Retribution matches collide, coming off last week's non title match where Locker pinned Paredyse thanks to Silvio's help. Paredyse wanted Silvio to tag in as Locker was down, but the Psychedelic Superstar wanted no part of the action. Paredyse then grabbed Silvio and flipped into the ring, setting him up for the Long Kiss Goodnight. Mary Jane distracted Metal Master on the outside as Locker made the save before Paredyse could hit the forward STO, coming from behind and lifting him up onto his shoulders in the electric chair before turning that into his finisher. Silvio will have no choice but to wrestle Paredyse at Retribution though, and if Locker intends to leave TV champion, he will have to do so in a first ever for Ohio Valley, an Ultimate X match. Metal Master afterward points up, a reference to the Ultimate X, as Locker clutches onto his title belt. He then points over to Locker and does the throat slit motion to a pop.
From the back then comes the Director of Authority Trailer Park Trash. He congratulates Silvio & Locker on their victory, but especially Mary Jane on the outside for the distraction that allowed them to win. Paredyse and Silvio were scheduled to meet 1 on 1 at Retribution, but he thinks they need to do some last minute tweeking to make things a little more exciting so the match is cancelled. The fans boo as TPT says to hold on because what he has in store for them is much bigger than that. Effective right now, the Ultimate X match at the iPPV for the TV Title will now be a 4 way. Locker vs Metal Master vs Silvio vs Paredyse, and the title is still on the line. The fans cheer that announcement, although Locker is obviously upset by the news. The title could be slipping from his grasp as retaining in Ultimate X just got that much more difficult for him.

Ryan Howe & Aaron Sky defeat Deonta Davis & Leon Shelly @ 4:53 when Howe made Shelly tap out to the Whammy Bar, a Fujiwara Armbar. A big win for the team dubbed The Skyrockers, coming together last week after Sky's regular partner Robbie Walker from The Skywalkers suffered an injury 2 weeks ago. The No Class Connection of Davis & Shelly drop the match as Howe & Sky show minimal teamwork, but enough to get the job done. This was a test for Howe & Sky, and afterward he extends the hand to Howe. Was this enough? Will he team with him at Retribution? Apparently so as Howe reciprocates. Titus on commentary says that beating The No Class Connection is 1 thing, but 3 other teams including 1 of the greatest tag teams in OVW history in The Blacklist, The Wild Boyz, and the Tag Team champions Raul Lamotta & The Mexicutioner, all in the same match? Not happening. Gilbert plays devil's advocate and says that the advantage is that there is no scouting information on them, even for the team themselves to go on. If they click at Retribution, it spells trouble for the other 3 tag teams and the rest of Ohio Valley.

Cliff Compton defeats The French Stallion @ 7:50 via pinfall after the Cliffhanger, a springboard tornado DDT. Big win for the #1 contender in a competitive match that sees Stallion get in some offense that has the commentators questioning whether taking this match so close to Retribution was a good idea. Mr. 1859 makes the comeback and ultimately puts Stallion away after managing to move out of the way of the French Connection, a charging big boot to the face. No sign of Shiloh Jonze or Rudy Switchblade here, but the commentators are quick to remind viewers that we will definitely see Jonze later as he takes on Jamin Olivencia in the main event. Compton survives his match today intact with momentum on his side, but The Blacklist is always full of surprises and should never be underestimated.

Heidi Lovelace defeats Women's champion Jessie Belle @ 5:08 via DQ when Dirty South Tracy Smothers interfered. After a successful return last week against Ray Lynn, Lovelace continued where she left off against long time rival Belle. The champion was able to get Lovelace into position for the Southern Comfort, a running bulldog, but she blocked it and instead shoved Belle off and then hit a clothesline when she turned around. Lovelace made a comeback and hit the Heidicanrana when at the 2 count, Smothers entered and broke up the count. Obvious DQ as Smothers kicked Lovelace while referee Jordan Barker tried to get him to stop. Smothers didn't think twice to just shove Barker away and continue what he was doing. Dean stresses that with Jerry The King Lawler as guest referee at Retribution, he will think twice there, but that's neither here or now. He then positions Lovelace and lifts her up, driving her to the mat with a pumphandle slam. The commentators stress that as it will be a loser leaves town match, this will be the final time that 1 of Lovelace or Smothers are seen here, and it certainly looks from here and the result of their November 8 match that Dirty South has the advantage. Again though, the wild card, Jerry Lawler, a legend in Louisville and the south, will be the referee.

Elijah Burke defeats The Body Guy @ 5:34 via pinfall after the Elijah Experience, a sitout facebuster. An important match for The Pope as the biggest spotlight of his career possibly will be shone on him at Retribution against CM Punk, and The Body Guy looked to take advantage of that here on TV with an upset in the making. Despite a couple near falls, Burke would manage to finish off the often delusional wrestler with his finisher. Titus wondered though what this match takes out of Burke so close to CM Punk, and why take it knowing Punk is well rested. Dean counters that maybe Punk is too well rested, having not competed in nearly 6 months when he will step in against Burke. Maybe putting ego aside and taking a match today would have done Punk well to shake off the ring rust. Gilbert says that whatever the case, their match at the iPPV should have big implications on the title picture here going forward. Either CM Punk wins to get that title shot he is after, or he loses and must eat his words, having failed in his mission.

Back from break and it is time go over the final card for Retribution. Saturday January 17, live from the Davis Arena, streaming through our partner WWNlive.com. 8 big matches, and who knows what to expect? Last time at the Rage In The Cage it was where Punk made his surprise return. Lots of action, top to bottom, this is an event you will not want to miss.
- Jamin Olivencia defends the Heavyweight Title vs Mr. 1859 Cliff Compton
- Tag Team champions Los Rudos defend against 3 teams in a Fatal Fourway, The Wild Boyz, The Skyrockers, and The Blacklist
- Melvin Maximus vs The Body Guy
- The Ironman Rob Conway vs Rudy Switchblade
- First time in OVW, Eric Locker defends the TV Title vs Metal Master, Paredyse, and The Psychedelic Superstar Chris Silvio in an Ultimate X match
- Michael Hayes vs The Bully Rob Terry in a grudge match like no other
- Battles of the Sexes II, Heidi Lovelace vs Dirty South Tracy Smothers, the loser leaves Ohio Valley and The King Jerry Lawler will be the referee
- The Pope Elijah Burke vs CM Punk, if Punk wins he gets a shot at the Heavyweight Title and the chance to fulfill his goal
And not only that, but Sunday January 25, NWA presents Starrcade. If Rudy Switchblade survives Rob Conway at Retribution, he's got a returning Jay Bradley to deal with inside Hell in a Cell. Bradley has not been seen here since the final match in the Best of 5 series back at the December Saturday Night Special where Bradley's head was slammed in an ambulance door. 2 big nights to come, but what's this? ...

Heavyweight champion Jamin Olivencia defeats Shiloh Jonze in a non title match @ 8:25 via pinfall after The Standing O, a leaping bodyscissors into a DDT. Perhaps the signs of a mistake as Jonze is able to get the better of Olivencia at times, showing that maybe being pinned by Rudy Switchblade took him off his game a bit. Cliff Compton on commentary defends it, saying The Blacklist are top competitors here, and he knows that because he had The French Stallion earlier and he took some close calls himself. Jonze gets Olivencia into the Mandible Claw, but the champion starts to get energized by the crowd and battles his way to his feet to break free and make the comeback. A good performance by Jonze, but not good enough as Olivencia shows why he is the champion. Compton adds though that he hopes everybody enjoyed this, Olivencia's swan song on TV with that belt. How good will it look on him?
Post match, the referee hands Olivencia the belt and he goes to the corner, holding it up right in front of Compton. Mr. 1859 stands from the commentary. He heads over on the outside and starts exchanging words with Olivencia. Things are heating up and indeed we could see a new Heavyweight champion crowned at Retribution. Despite the words, no confrontation today, and interestingly enough, no Blacklist in either match. No sign of Rudy Switchblade period today, perhaps the calm before the storm. Or perhaps shaking in his boots Dean says as he realizes the mistake he made by turning his back on this company. Gilbert gives a final plug for Retribution. For Dean Hill & Michael Titus, so long until then.
Websclusive match #1
Seleziya Sparx defeats Scarlett Bordeaux @ 3:27 via pinfall after a spinning powerbomb. This match amounts to little more than a glorified squash as Sparx dominates the former Mean Girl associate. Taeler Hendrix is on the outside for the match and afterward joins her fellow A List teammate in the ring, wasting no time standing over Scarlett and letting her know the score. It seems as though Taeler will come out on top as she vanquishes her former lackies thanks to the power of Seleziya Sparx. Commentary is provided by the Fan Advocate Terry Boddie and Nick Dinsmore for the match, and could Seleziya be what Taeler needs to get back the title? She can do the dirty work for Taeler and it seems like nobody will be able to stop her.VS |
Websclusive match #2
The Wild Boyz and Rump Thump defeat Raul Lamotta, The Mexicutioner, and Dapper Dan @ 6:18 when Eddie Diamond pinned Lamotta using a crucifix. Manager Shelly Martinez on the outside did her best to distract EFD, who seems to be "interested" in her for lack of better term, though the interest shown by Martinez seemed to be just a way to allow her team to take advantage of him. In the end, Diamond caught The Rudo by ducking under a clothesline and hooking the arms to bring him back with the crucifix for the win. Should that happen at Retribution, there will be new Tag Team champions as The Wild Boyz have been on a roll in recent weeks. The feud between Rump Thump and Dapper Dan meanwhile gets renewed today, but arguably little is settled as it will take a 1 on 1 match between them to settle the score at this stage.VS | ||
