RESULTS SHOW #1
OPENING SEGMENT
The show opens to a sold out crowd here in somewhere, some place, and we're not saying where, but we're here, and so if the whole town, it would seem! We head to the commentator's table, where we meet our broadcast team for the evening, Gorilla Monsoon, Josh Mathews, and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan!
Gorilla notes that capacity crowd here tonight is "hanging from the rafters" as they await this hot action here in wherever we are, and Mathews can't wait to go over some of the big matches of the night. He says he's personally looking forward to the opener, which will feature hot young standout Billy Kidman and the international sensation Jushin Liger, as well as a classic battle later tonight, also in the Light Heavyweight title tournament, between Eddy Guerrero and Dean Malenko! Bobby Heenan says he doesn't know anything about any lightweights, but he's taken craps bigger than Billy Kidman and he wants to see a couple of men fight! That's why he can't wait for the main event, where he gets to see two guys he doesn't care for, Steve Austin and DDP, beat the ever lovin' crap out of each other! Monsoon gives Heenan the old "will you stop" and says he's getting word that the President of the EWE, Vincent K. McMahon, is headed to the ring now to address the crowd! "No Chance in Hell" hits and he says the crowd is going bananas, ready to see something take place here! Vince McMahon gets on the mic and gloats for a minute, welcoming the fans while congratulating himself and his millions of dollars for making such an amazing wrestling extravaganza a reality! He says he is well known throughout the world as being a genius, and tonight should prove that, as some of the best wrestling anybody has ever seen is going to take place tonight! The high flying, the brawling, the... divas... he laughs to himself here as the fans make cat calls, and he says it's all here, and it's all thanks to him!
*SOUND OF BREAKING GLASS!!!*
Gorilla goes nuts, stating that it is pandemonium in the arena, you can cut it with a knife! Josh Mathews is going crazy, saying "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is here, and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan says he hopes Vince doesn't just "fire this clown", because he's really looking forward to seeing him get his butt kicked!
Vince McMahon puffs out his chest as Austin snatches the microphone out of his hand, getting this crowd going nuts! Austin says Vince McMahon thinks he's a genius, he thinks he's Mr. Smart Guy, Mr. Moneybags, and he thinks he owns everybody here tonight, and they should all be kissing his ass, but Austin says he ain't kissing nobody's ass, but he break his foot off up somebody's mudhole before the night's through! He says doesn't give a damn what Vince McMahon wants, he's gonna kick Diamond Dallas Page's jheri curled ass up and down this arena, then he's going to go on and kick every other ass in his way until he's got that belt!
Vince gets another microphone and says that Austin had better fall into line, or he'll know what an ass kicking is all about! He says he may not like Vince McMahon, he may not care about this company, but he knows a few guys who will cooperate, and if he keeps pushing it, he's going to be in a world of hurt.
Austin laughs, scratching his face Gorilla worries for Vince McMahon now, who looks completely indignant. Austin says he doesn't care who he has, he says "Stone Cold" is and always will be the toughest S.O.B. in professional wrestling, and he ain't gonna waste any of his precious time worrying about who's riding Vince McMahon's bean bag to the top of the ladder! He says whoever he's got, they ain't enough, and that's the bottom line, cause STONE COLD SAID SO!
The glass shatters again and "Stone Cold" storms off, rattling off a slew of profanities as he storms off. Vince McMahon is looking on, face in somewhat of a snarl, as you can tell he is not too happy being defied. Vince leaves the ring, and it's time for our first match of the evening!
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT
Jushin "Thunder" Liger vs. Billy Kidman
Liger, the innovator of the Shooting Star Press, was set to do battle the man who arguably made it popular, Billy Kidman, in both the first ever match here in EWE history and a match to determine who goes on to the next round of the Light Heavyweight title tournament. Kidman is able to make this pretty competitive, and was able to get Liger down for a couple of near falls, but he just wasn't able to seal the deal. It's kind of hard to set a guy up for a finisher he invented, and it showed, as Liger cut off Kidman a couple of times on the top rope, and was able to reverse a Shooting Star Press attempt by getting his knees up. Liger would land a major Shotei palm strike to wobble Kidman after that, following up with his Liger Bomb, and that was enough to give Liger the win! The fans seemed into this match, which wasn't long but was well structure. This seemed to be a vehicle to make Liger look good, and it did just that, while showing that Kidman has a lot of heart.
BACKSTAGE
Backstage, we see "The Hart Foundation" of Davey Boy Smith, Owen Hart, Bret Hart, and their niece Natalya backstage, and they've got somethin' to say! Bret Hart says tonight he faces a man with a lot of talent, but a lot of somethin' to hide! He says he's got to go out, put on a bunch of face make up, come out of the ceiling with a bunch of hocus and pocus, and then he thinks about wrestling. Bret says "The Excellence of Execution" thinks about wrestling first and puts all the B.S. second, and that's why tonight, it's gonna be a SHARPSHOOTER, not a Scorpion Deathlock, that ends the match. He says "Stone Cold" went out and talked about winning this tournament, but he isn't fit to lace the boots of a Hart, and he isn't half the man any of the Hart Foundation are, including Natalya! He says this tournament is about proving one thing, that Bret Hart is the best there is, the best there was, and the be- "THE BEST IN HIS OWN LITTLE MIND!" That's a familiar voice, and swaggering up to the "Hart Foundation" is none other than Shawn Michaels, accompanied by Triple H, Chyna, and Syxx, the rest of the "Kliq"! Michaels says tonight don't mean Jack, because tonight, he's not even on the card! Owen Hart gets defensive, saying that's a relief, because it'll save the people having to watch his clowning around! Michaels laughs, and says he doesn't have to worry about him, he's got to worry about the big man, Mr. Hunter Hearst Helmsley, who, while the Bulldog and Owen wrestle in tag team action tonight, will be advancing in the United States championship tournament. And if they're not down with that, they've got two words for them, but Owen probably already knows all about that, as he knows it got pretty lonely in the dungeon living in Bret's shadow, and he had to give him som-
"HBK" doesn't get to even finish before this erupts in an impromptu brawl, causing the commentary team go nuts as security hits, separating these two factions... for now.
TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT
"The Hart Foundation" Davey Boy Smith & Owen Hart w/ Natalya vs. "The Pitbulls" Kid Kash & Jamie Noble
The talent of the Pitbulls cannot be denied, but the fans were way behind the Hart Foundation, and they just were much too powerful for Kash and Noble. Kash and Noble were able to take a speedy advantage early, landing multiple dropkicks and elbows to the British Bulldog, but the Bulldog would manage to block a double suplex and reversed by suplexing both Noble and Kash, setting things off a big way! Owen Hart would eventually deliver a Reverse Piledriver to Kash, making everyone pop as "The Black Hart" hooked the leg and got the three, advancing his team as Natalya cheered them on from the outside.
BACKSTAGEBackstage, we see Sting standing with his back to the camera, holding his black baseball bat. He says tonight his vengeance will trump all "excellence". We catch a side profile of his painted face in the darkened corner of the arena, and then cut back to the ring, where Heenan comments about Sting having a screw loose, and Gorilla retorts he might knock some of Heenan's screws loose with his baseball bat in heard him talking like that.
UNITED STATES TITLE TOURNAMENT
"The Mexican Millionaire" Alberto Del Rio w/ Ricardo Rodriguez vs. "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe makes a big entrance, dancing with the fire dancer before hitting the ring. Del Rio also has a big entrance, being introduced by his sidekick Ricardo after being pulled through the entrance in a limousine. The match itself was primarily a ground based battle, which saw ADR consistently try to bend the rules to his favor and would Ricardo pull the ropes away from Joe multiple times to stop him from gaining rope breaks before the referee got smart to the act. Joe would eventually turn the match into a striking battle, which ADR would try to match him in, but Joe would catch him with a big Enzuigiri to clean his clock pretty good, taking his down to a knee. Joe would grab ADR from behind from there, attempting maybe a German Suplex, but Del Rio would grab the ref, pulling him face to face, and would then deliver a big Mule Kick to Joe, stopping him in his tracks! Del Rio would let go of the ref very quickly and then grab Joe's arm, twisting it and then dropping him into the final Cross Armbar he would need to apply, sinking it in! Mathews says he looks like he's going to snap it, and Joe had no choice but to tap! Del Rio advances in the US title tournament!
BACKSTAGE
DDP has his gorgeous wife and valet Kimberly with him backstage, and he wants to talk for a minute about what "Stone Cold" had to say earlier in the night. He says he's got a lot of respect for Austin, he's done a lot, he's tough son of a bitch, and he knows tonight he's in for a fight. He says he respects what he said to McMahon, because just like Austin, he ain't here because of McMahon and he don't give a damn what he thinks. He's here, he's primed, and he's ready for a fight, but he says Steve Austin had better be ready to FEEL. THE. BANG!!! Diamond hand signal, and we are back to the ring.
WOMEN'S TITLE TOURNAMENT
Lita vs. Gail Kim
Short but exciting women's match here, as these two traded near fall after near fall, just trying to get one over on their opponent tonight. Both women would woo the fans, as Lita would hit an early running Hurricanrana, while Kim would answer to long after with a Swinging Headscissors, followed by a Front Missile Dropkick from the top to get a two count. Kim would twist Lita's arm, looking for Eat Defeat, but Lita would break would and hit a Lita DDT, and it looked like it might be over, but Kim kicked out! Lita picks up Kim, throwing her off the ropes and hitting a Tilt-to-Whirl Slam, then pulls her into position as the fans rise in anticipation. Lita heads up and she goes for the Litasault, but Kim gets the knees up right to the "bread basket" according to Gorilla! Kim runs, coming off the ropes and she goes for another Headscissors, this time dropping into an Armbar! She has the Flying Dragon locked on, and Lita taps nearly immediately! Gail Kim advances in the Women's title tournament!
BACKSTAGE
We're backstage now and we see Brian Pillman pacing around with his cane in hand. He says Hunter and his boy toy might think they got the EWE on a string, but Pillman says tonight he's going to make him his bitch. He says he should be used to that, as Hunter's probably pulling up his jock as he speaks, while Chyna's taking off the strap on! He then goes on to say that the Kliq might think they've got the balls to take on anyone around, but he knows Chyna's got the biggest pair, and while she's busy stick it to Hunter, she's probably stepping on Shawn's little pecker while little baby Syxx gets his jollies in the corner! Pillman wraps up this crude promo by saying they can walk around like big shots, but tonight, he's sticking his boot up Hunter's over stretched ass, and then he's taking that belt! Gorilla and the whole commentary team are just at a loss for words after that promo, while Heenan goes as far as to say Pillman shouldn't be allowed on TV, period, and then we head to the ring.
UNITED STATES TITLE TOURNAMENT
"The Cerebral Assassin" Triple H w/ Chyna vs. "The Ticking Time Bomb" Brian Pillman
This was a very physical affair, as Hunter would jump right out of the ring as Pillman was making his entrance, these two would trade blows right away before the bell ever sounded. Triple H calls himself the "Cerebral Assassin", but it's clear that Pillman is the one who's successfully played the mind games, even though he's paying for it now. Triple H is quite a bit bigger than Pillman, and he's able to dominate him early, but Pillman manages to hit a Drop Toe Hold, sending Trips face first on the announcer's table! Pillman then rushes and grabs Heenan's headset, causing him to yell out, and begins choking Hunter with the cord! Pillman finally sends Hunter back into the ring then heads up on the apron and up the buckles, and the referee finally calls for the bell. Hunter staggers up and Pillman delivers a Missile Dropkick, following up by pinning him with crotch over his face, but only gets a short two. Pillman continues his gestures and comments while using underhanded tactics, but the fans seem to be behind him anyway. Triple H manages to deliver a big Spinebuster to turn things around, and he gets a two. Hunter is able to land big offense from here, mostly brawling with Pillman and using profanities, and no one can really blame him. The fans boo and Trips tells them to shut up, and that gets the fans behind the erratic Pillman even more. Pillman manages to catch Triple H with a boot in the corner as he charged in, then flew off the buckles and caught Hunter with a Tornado DDT! Pillman takes a moment as Hunter rolls on the mat, but hurries and tries for a cover, but Hunter gets his foot on the ropes. Hunter looks at Chyna, making a hand signal, then grabs Pillman by the tights and sends him throat first into the middle rope. Hunter then gets up and grabs the referee by the collar, spinning him to face away from Pillman as he talks to him about something. OH! Chyna decks Pillman with a right hook! Pillman gets up, staggered, and Chyna gets on the apron, reaching in, and BLASTING Pillman with a low blow! Trips then shoves the referee out of the way and grabs Pillman, lifting him and drilling him on the top of his head with a brutal Pedigree, and it's all over! The fans boo as Triple H gets on, and he does a multitude of crotch chops towards Pillman, using some colorful language as he leaves, advancing in the US title tournament.
TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT
"The Phenomenal F'N Show" AJ Styles & Rob Van Dam w/ Bill Alfonso vs. "The Buzzsaws" Low Ki & Yoshihiro Tajiri
These two teams have some much talent, but this match didn't really seem to have much of a story to it early on. This was all about athleticism and kicks, and the fans were entertained by the physicality in the ring. At one point in the match, Styles would attempt an Asai DDT on Tajiri, but Tajiri would roll and shove him, causing him to hit the referee! Styles would duck a Roundhouse kick from Tajiri and deliver an Enzuigiri, sending him through the ropes to the floor! RVD would fly into the ring, hitting a Thrust Kick that sent Tajiri out of the ring! Low Ki would hit the ring from there, attempting a Handspring Enzuigiri, but RVD would duck it! Ki would get back up and try for another kick, but Van Dam would catch it and deliver a Dragon Whip, knocking Ki loopy. From there, RVD leaps up to the top and it looks like he's going to hit the Five Star Frog Splash, but suddenly, from under the ring comes a man dressed in a cloak. He pops up on the apron, and pulls back the hood, revealing a painted face... THE GREAT MUTA!
RVD's eyes get wide and that's a bad move... GREEN MIST! He's blinded, and Muta sweeps out his leg, causing him to be crotched up top! Muta then gets out and sends Styles into the crowd, and follows him out. Tajiri heads up on the apron and gets up top, hitting a Hurricanrana and these fans are buzzing with energy, both bad and good! Ki then heads up top and flies off with a Double Foot Stomp, and it's all over, the Buzzsaws advance! WOMEN'S TITLE TOURNAMENT
Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
These two have history, but one thing is for sure, they can put on a great match with one another. James would use some taunting and erratic behavior earlier to get into the head of Stratus, but eventually they would get down to business and began trading some big blows. Stratus would get a series of big moves, getting some near falls, but James wouldn't go down. James would rake the eyes on Stratus take control, smiling and kicking her as she is down. James would get a series of near falls, mocking Stratus as she pins her. James nails a Snapmare, followed by a low dropkick to Stratus' face, locking on a Half Crab afterwards and forcing Stratus to get to the ropes to break the hold. James sends Stratus into the corner and drives shoulders into her before backing off and then leaping in, looking to hit a Splash in the corner, but Stratus gets both feet up, sending James backwards and holding her face! Stratus is quick to get on the buckles and then flies off, hitting a Thesz Press and then laying into James with a series of punches! Stratus calls for the end and goes for the Chick Kick, but James ducks it and School Girls her, grabbing the tights, but Stratus manages to kick out somehow, causing James to rip at her hair in anger! James gets to her feet and calls up Stratus, attempting her Mick Kick, but Stratus uses the MaTrish evasion to avoid contact, followed by a big backhand chop! Trish then sends Micke into the corner and delivers a Splash, followed by some theatrics, and then she grabs Micke and comes off the ropes, Stratusfaction! Trish hooks the leg, and it's all over, Trish Stratus advances!
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT
Eddy Guerrero vs. "The Ice Man" Dean Malenko
Another match here where the men have more than a little history, and these fans were more than happy to see another go round between these two. This match was a great scientific display, as this was all about pride between two long time friends who want another chance at becoming a champion. Guerrero would decide to speed things up and headed off the ropes, hitting a Swinging Headscissors to take Malenko out of the ring, before leaping to the outside with a Pescado to take him down hard on the floor! Guerrero then whips Malenko into the railing and then rushes, leaping and hitting a Dropkick, whiplashing "The Ice Man's" neck in a bad way! Guerrero grabs Malenko and sends him back into the ring and hops up on the apron, slingshotting in with a Senton and going for the cover, but Malenko gets his foot on the ropes to stop the pin! Guerrero grabs him and is looking for a Brainbuster, but Malenko floats over and rolls him up with a Prawn Hold, but Guerrero kicks out, setting off a series of pin attempts. Guerrero ends up hitting a Hurricanrana with a pin attempt, but Malenko kicks out. Guerrero once again tries for a Brainbuster, but Malenko reverses with a knee to the face, followed by a Tiger Bomb! Malenko crosses the legs and after a little fight, turns it and sits. He's got the Texas Cloverleaf hooked in and the fans are cheering as Guerrero taps out, giving Malenko the advance! Guerrero gets up, holding his back, but offers a hand to Malenko and he accepts in a nice display of respect.
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT
Sting vs. "The Hitman" Bret Hart w/ Natalya
Bret Hart makes his entrance the fans are all jacked up for this dream encounter. He gives off his plastic sunglasses to a lucky young fan, and he and Natalya talk strategy in the ring. It's hard to plan for a guy like Sting, though, as the lights go out and after a few seconds come back on, and Sting is in the ring, face to face with Hart is his trench coat, bat in hand, and these fans are going nuts. Hart tells Natalya to get out of the ring and removes his jacket, getting ready for a battle! Sting slowly makes his way to his corner, removing his jacket and putting down the bat, and it's time for action! Hart and Sting lock up, and Sting shows his power, tossing Hart back, his expression blank as he does so, showing no emotion, almost like a machine in there. Hart takes a moment of the outside, trying to gain his composure and the fans begin to chant for Sting! Hart slides in and looks like he wants to lock up again, but instead of a collar and elbow, Hart shoots, getting behind Sting and taking him down face first! Hart begins with an armbar and then goes for a grounded Abdominal Stretch. Sting fights his way up and Hip Tosses Hart off of him, following up with a series of Dropkicks that gets the fans going. Sting then lifts Hart over his head and delivers Gorilla Press Slam, causing Hart to land hard and Monsoon to admit he's glad he retired after seeing moves like that! Hart pulls himself up in the corner and Sting rushes, looking for a Stinger Splash, but Hart gets out of the ring, causing Sting to get nothing but buckles! Hart hurries and grabs Sting, hitting a Russian Legsweep, but just a two count! Hart picks up Sting and he wants to end this, going for a Piledriver, but Sting powers out, backdropping Hart and pounding his chest like King Kong as these fans go nuts! Sting grabs Hart, but Hart reverses, lifting Sting then hitting a Inverted Atomic Drop, followed by a clothesline! Hart then grabs Sting's legs and spreads 'em, dropping and hitting a headbutt to his abdomen. Hart then picks up Sting, lifting him and hitting a backbreaker, but only gets a two on the cover. Hart drops multiple knees to Sting's back and then lifts him, hitting a Snap Suplex. Hart then heads up the buckles and attempts a Diving Elbow, but Sting moves and "The Hitman" is hurting. Sting hits a series of chops and punches, followed by a whip to the corner and he hits a Stinger Splash! Sting is feeling it as he grabs Hart, and he pulls him in... Scorpion Death Drop! Sting hooks the leg, thinking he's got it, but Hart somehow kicks out at two! Sting stands up as Hart squirms on the mat, trying to get to his feet, but Sting grabs his legs, and he's thinking Scorpion Death Lock! He tries to tie up Hart in the hold, but Hart reaches up and reverses, rolling up Sting with Small Package, but only a two count! The fans are cheering now, as both men get to their feet. Sting fires off a chop, and Hart answers with a European uppercut! Another chop, another uppercut. And then another, and yet another. Sting then sends a kick to Hart, but Hart kicks him back and grabs him, nailing a DDT! Hart takes a moment and then gets to his feet, grabbing Sting by the hair as Nattie tries to rally the fans. Hart pulls Sting in and lifts him up, and driving him to the mat with a Spike Piledriver! It should be over here, as Hart makes the cover, but it's still just a two! Hart can't believe it! Hart grabs the legs of Sting and the fans are cheering, Hart's going for the Sharpshooter, but wait, oh to the ring comes Chyna! Chyna gets on the apron and the referee and Hart both turn their attention to the apron! Hart lets go of Sting and tells the referee to stop her as she tries to get into the ring! What the Hell is this!? Nattie does more to stop things than the ref, as she grabs her leg and pulls her down! As the ref and Hart are distracted, in from the crowd come Shawn Michaels and Triple H! Trips has his sledgehammer in hand, while Michaels is empty handed. Sting has gotten to his knees at this point, and "HBK" delivers Sweet Chin Music to the enigma, knocking him for a loop! Hart turns as he hears the commotion, the referee now trying to eject both women from ringside, completely oblivious to the conflict in the ring! Hart sees Michaels smiling and tries to charge, but catches the sledgehammer from Hunter right to the temple, and he's out cold! Hunter then pulls Sting's arm over Hart as the rest of the Hart Foundation run down to the ring, trying to run off these two while Syxx meets up with "HBK" and Trips back in the crowd, holding a chair, and the Hart Foundation stop at the railing, not sure they want to follow the Kliq into hostile territory. The referee gets back into the ring, and has no choice but to make the count. One, two, three, and Sting wins one, but he doesn't seem to be aware of what happened. This certainly wasn't the way he wanted to do it, but now Sting has advanced in the tournament to crown the World Heavyweight champion.
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Diamond Dallas Page w/ Kimberly
These two men are known for being tough, and both had a big fan base, so these fans were just in for a treat to see which man was tougher and wanted that World Heavyweight championship more. Vince McMahon would make his way out and joined the commentary booth for this one, stating both men had showed him disrespect tonight, so he wanted to see them injured up close and personal. They would trade punches early and DDP seemed to get the better of that, backing up Austin with a punching combination, but Austin would duck a Discus Clothesline attempt and sent DDP into the corner, stomping him repeatedly before flipping him off and then giving him one more stomp for good measure. Austin would back off, talking a string of profanities and arguing with the referee. DDP would pull himself up with the ropes and then came out of the corner, catching Austin as he turned with that Discus Clothesline he was trying earlier, hooking the leg but only getting a two count! DDP would go for a quick Diamond Cutter, but Austin reversed it, kicking DDP and trying for a Stunner, but DDP blocked it and shoved Austin off, grabbing him and catching him with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex, but only for a short two count on a pin attempt. Austin rolls out of the ring and these two begin to brawl on the outside. Austin gets the advantage and grabs DDP's head, going over the announcer's table and flipping off McMahon before bashing DDP's head off the table! Gorilla asks McMahon if he can read sign language, and McMahon doesn't have much to say about it, obviously fuming. Back in the ring, Austin flips off DDP and then drops a sharp elbow to his chest, but only gets a two count the cover. Austin picks up DDP, but DDP reverses with a series of punches, stunning "Stone Cold" and then he attempts a whip, only to have Austin leap and take him down with a Thesz Press, laying into him with rapid right hands! DDP staggers up and is dropped with a Spinebuster, but only for a two count. Austin goes up on the buckles, flips off DDP and tries for an elbow drop, but DDP avoids contact as Kimberly cheers him on! Austin stumbles as he gets up, holding his arm, and DDP takes advantage kicking him and pulling him in, hitting a Sit-Out Powerbomb for a two count! DDP wants to end things, sends up the hand signal, calling for the Diamond Cutter. Austin is up and Page grabs his head, looking to take him down, but Austin blocks it, catching DDP with a series of right hands and then tries to kick him, but DDP catches pulling Austin in and lifting him into a Fireman's Carry. Austin, though, begins kicking and squirming, then elbows DDP to the face, causing him to let go. DDP tries for a quick clothesline, but Austin ducks it. DDP turns and catches a kick... STONE COLD STUNNER! DDP is out, and Austin hooks the close leg, laying back on him as he flips off McMahon at the booth and the referee counts to three.
McMahon throws down his headset, leaving and saying things to himself, probably not nice things, as Austin celebrates on all of the turnbuckles, looking pissed off, as always, and running his mouth as the fans cheer him on and the show comes to an end.
