NWA Maximum 2: Tag Team Turmoil
Tonight, the very first NWA Maximum Tag Team Champions will be crowned, our lineup for tonight is as follows-
Lets get our show underway with our opening contest-
NWA Maximum Tag Team Tournament Semi Final
Los Maximos (Joel and Jose Maximo) vs Pure Dynamite (Josh Daniels and John Walters)
A great opening tag team matchup between two overlooked teams of the past few years in the NWA. It was a pure battle of high flying vs technical mastery, as The Maximos used all of those fast paced double team moves that they have perfected over the years, as well as taking to the air, while Pure Dynamite looked to ground the duo with submissions, targeting their legs so that they would struggle to climb to the top and keep their balance. Despite their best efforts, Los Maximos would advance, as John Walters would get caught up on the top rope, leading to Los Maximos hitting the Spanish Fly to advance.
Winners- Los Maximos
Paul London is backstage with Spanky and Michael Shane, The Texus. These guys have been off and on allies in a couple of different promotions in recent years. An argument is going on which London is trying to calm down,
London: Now listen to me, both of you. I know that we have had our disagreements in the past. I know we've been the best of friends and the worst of enemies. But united, we are the best family of wrestlers to ever step foot in a wrestling ring, better than the Von Erichs, the Harts, The Samoans, The Guerrero's and all those other so called families. It doesn't matter that we aren't related by blood, we have the same intuition that siblings have in and out of the ring. So I want you to go out there and win this tournament for me, you brother in arms, while I win the 4 way match and head back on the road to the NWA World Heavyweight Title. Everybody will know once again that your either Texus or your against us!
Shane and Spanky leave while London smiles and laughs to himself. I wouldn't trust London as far as you can throw him after some of the stuff he's pulled in the past, so if I were the other members of The Texus I'd be very careful.
We then cut to Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, who are being interviewed by Lenny Leonard. While Benjamin looks ready to go, Haas has a smug smile on his face, and is wearing sunglasses.
Leonard: Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, tonight you have a chance at becoming the new NWA Maximum Tag Team Champions. What are your thoughts ahead of this match?
Benjamin: Well I.....
Haas: Who, whoa, whoa, who said you could speak? I'm the voice of this tag team Shelton, and I have one thing to say. FINALLY THE HAAS HAS COME BACK TO NEW JERSEY!
The fans give a big cheer, as it appears Charlie Haas has embraced the "fiscal" side of his personality once again.
Benjamin: Oh Charlie not this shit again. Your above this sports entertainment crap, we're the Worlds Greatest Tag Team, a team without equal in this sport, and you want to pretend your The Rock of Stone Cold or somebody like that. You don't need to do this Charlie, get it together!
Haas: You know what Shelton, I'm sorry. Maybe I've gone a little overboard. Do you honestly think that this isn't what I should be doing in the squared circle?
Benjamin: Well.....
Haas: IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK! Because The Haas does what he wants, when he wants, and thats the bottom line! IF YOU SNIFF WHAT THE HAAS IS BAKING!
Haas walks off and Shelton face palms, shakes his head and slowly walks away.
NWA Maximum Tag Team Tournament Semi Final
The Texus (Spanky and Michael Shane) vs The Worlds Greatest Tag Team ("Mr Fiscal" Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin)
Two totally dysfunctional tag teams here, with The Texus spending more time arguing and miscommunicating that actually wrestling, while Haas and Benjamin were not on the same page thanks to Haas embracing his fiscal alter ego once again and entertaining the fans with his antics. Benjamin seemed like the only sane one here, he was focused on business and as one of the most talented mat wrestlers of his generation, had no problems going toe to toe on the mat with Shane and Spanky. Benjamin got isolated from Haas eventually thanks to some unfair tactics from The Texus, bending the rules to their advantage. Benjamin would however make the tag eventually as Haas came in a house on fire, avoiding a Shane Clothesline and hitting the Rock Bottom, then took Spanky down with a Stone Cold Stunner. And now he's calling for the most fiscal move in sports and entertainment, The Worm. H-A-A-S, FISCAL, FISCA, FISCAL, he's getting ready to hit it, but before he can PAUL LONDON runs out with a chair and smacks Haas in the back of the head with it! Shane had the ref distracted as Spanky kicks up to his feet, Sliced Bread! 1-2-3, The Texus advance in controversial circumstances!
Winners- The Texus
The Texus get out of there as fast as they can, as Benjamin shouts at Haas for messing about, saying that if he had just applied the Haas of Pain, Spanky would have tapped out before London even made it to the ring. Haas responds by flicking the middle fingers at him, posing for the fans as Benjamin walks off fuming.
We cut to the commissioners office, where "The Commissioner of Asskicking" himself Steve Blackman is watching the show alongside former Head Cheese tag partner Al Snow.
Snow: Hey Steve, don't those guys remind you of someone?
Blackman: I have no idea who you mean Al.
Snow: Oh come on Steve, you know who I mean. There was a tag team many years ago with a wacky guy and a serious guy, they never won any belts but they captivated fans all around the world. They were called Head Cheese, and they were the greatest tag team of all time.
Blackman: We talked about this Al, we were never going to bring up that team ever again, or else I'd go back in time and make you watch Big Bossman cooking your dog while your tied to a chair. Oh, and don't ever compare me to Shelton Benjamin again, or I'll be putting the laughter back in manslaughter!
Snow: Geez, OK man, no need to be such a sourpuss. Didn't you have some kind of announcement to make?
Blackman: Oh yeah. The next match between The Hardy Boys and Team 3D will now be a TABLES match! It seems only fitting that a meeting between these two teams should take place in that kind of match, one that they have wrestled in many times before. Let the asskicking commence!
NWA Maximum Tag Team Title Tournament Semi Final Tables Match
Team 3D (Bully Ray and Devon) vs The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy)
Both teams shook hands before our match begun, they are great friends after all their matchups over the years and this one was no different. While time has slowed these guys down a bit, they still put on a good match, one worthy of being part of the series of matches they have had before this. There were no tags here as all four were in the ring at the same time, as double team moves were exchanged and risks were taken, as a ladder also came into play and chaos ensued. However the match was to take a very surprise twist. The Hardy had Devon ready to put through a table, as Jeff set him up on it while Matt climbed to the top for a Leg Drop. However, JEFF CROTCHES MATT ON THE ROPES! He grabs his brother AND LAYS HIM OUT WITH A TWIST OF FATE! What the hell has gotten into Jeff Hardy? He leaves as Team 3D look on shocked at what they have just witnessed. They have a job to do and a tournament to try and win, so they put Matt through a table with a 3D to win the match, but the win is far from their mind at this point.
Winners- Team 3D
Team 3D help Matt to his feet as they exchange a handshake, but Matt looks furious at what his brother just did to him. The big question to be answered is why, why did Jeff turn on Matt?
So the tournament final will see Los Maximos do battle with The Texus and Team 3D, the winner becoming the NWA Maximum Tag Team Champions!
4 Way Insanity
"Big Bad" Brodus Clay vs Paul London vs Fandango vs Rhino
The rules of this match: its elimination style and there are NO rules, so anything goes! You had 4 hungry talents here, all of them looking to gain some momentum, and with the addition of no rules to hold them back, it was just as insane as you would expect. Clay went to work on Fandango, dominating him with that raw power of his, while Rhino and London did battle. Rhino is controlling London pretty easily, as he sets up a table in the corner. Meanwhile Clay has Fandango over by the announcers table, POWERBOMB THROUGH THE TABLE! The ref declares Fandango knocked out, eliminating him from the match.
Rhino is going for the Gore through the table, BUT LONDON MOVES AND RHINO GOES HEAD FIRST THROUGH THE TABLE! London goes up top, LONDONS CALLING! 1-2-3, Rhino is eliminated!
Its just Clay and London now, as London grabs a chair and SMASHES Clay with it, AND IT HAS NO EFFECT! He tries again, AND CLAY STILL DOESN'T GO DOWN! Clay blocks a third attempt, grabs the chair AND DESTROYS LONDON WITH 1 SHOT! Clay is looking good as he calls for a Brodus Bomb, but here come Michael Shane and Spanky. They attack Clay from behind and want a Double Suplex, but they can't lift Clay. He grabs them both, DOUBLE T-BONE SUPLEX! LONDONS CALLING ON CLAY BEFORE HE CAN GET UP! London covers 1-2-CLAY GETS UP WITH LONDON IN HAND! He drops London with a Powerslam and drags him to the corner. BRODUS BOMB! 1-2-3-, Brodus Clay wins it!
Winner- Brodus Clay
Brodus Clay isn't done however, he wants another Brodus Bomb. He goes up top, but before he can do it, Shane runs up and Low Blows him. Clay is down and The Texus try to give Clay a two on one beatdown, pounding away with stomps, before going for a Double Clothesline. That is until Clay ducks underneath and takes them down with a Double Fall of Humanity! They get the hell out of there, taking London with them as Clay stands tall and celebrates his win. Clay has definitely re-established himself after this performance.
Cibernetico is backstage, now fully recovered from the injury that arguably cost him the Extreme League at NWA Maximum 1.
"Necro Butcher. Trust me when I say, I have nothing but respect for you. Your the most worthy opponent this tortured soul has ever faced. I hold no ill towards you for the injury I suffered in our match. But Josh Raymond, you I have a problem with. In that tournament final, you went after my injured arm above and beyond what you had to do to eliminate me from that match. You didn't just try to win, you tried to end my career. Because of you, I had to have reconstructive surgery, and I have only just been cleared to wrestle again. You tried to end the career of The Digital Demon before he could reach his destiny, and for that you must pay the ultimate price. Only when I gain my revenge on you Josh Raymond will my digital revolution truly be able to take control of the NWA. Prepare for the worst pain you have ever experienced, and Necro, if you try to stop me then as much as I respect you, you will suffer the same fate!"
Grudge Match
"The Digital Demon" Cibernetico vs Josh Raymond vs Necro Butcher
"Commissioner of Asskicking" Steve Blackman confirmed to us before the show that any match involving Necro Butcher will be No DQ, as he would just get disqualified anyway if it was any different. So as a result, you basically had the same level of insanity as the match between Cibernetico and Necro Butcher in the Extreme League, only with the addition of Josh Raymond and his antics. Raymond played a clear psychological game here, he went after Cibernetico's arm, which as mentioned in his pre-match promo has only just healed after reconstructive surgery. Cibernetico had enough about him to fight off Raymond and avoid any serious damage to that arm, but it was how he got into Cibernetico's head by carrying out that attack which was key. Necro and Cibernetico actually teamed up a fair bit here, taking turns to beat up Raymond, before unleashing hell on each other as they did in their last match to the delight of the fans. Raymond picked his shots, and waited until Necro had been pretty much incapacitated by Cibernetico following some brutal chairshot and a Garra Cibernetica onto a chair, then smashed Cibernetico's arm with a chair! Cibernetico screamed with pain but didn't go down, instead grabbing Raymond by the throat. He goes for the Garra Cibernetica, but his arm gave way and he couldn't hit the move, and Raymond struck. He locked a Cross Armbreaker as Cibernetico screamed with agony, tapping out and giving Raymond an unlikely win.
Winner- Josh Raymond
Raymond didn't let go of the hold, he clearly wanted to re-injure that arm of Cibernetico and ensure that he couldn't get any further vengeance on him. That was until Necro Butcher started throwing punches in Raymond's direction, and Raymond chose to get out of there. Cibernetico was in a lot of pain, but there's no lasting damage and I'm sure he will be fine for the next show, where Raymond may very well pay for his actions!
NWA Maximum Tag Team Tournament Final 3 Way Elimination Match
Los Maximos (Joel and Jose Maximo) vs The Texus (Michael Shane and Spanky) vs Team 3D (Bully Ray and Devon)
Shane and Spanky were still arguing, but they proved last time that they can still get the job done even if they aren't quite on the same page right now. Team 3D on the other hand still seemed a bit shaken by what happened in their match, and understandably so, I still don't know what Jeff Hardy was thinking. So by default Los Maximos were the most focused team, and that definitely shone through as they were hitting every double team move bang on, and going head to head with two top tag teams. Team 3D came into it more and more as the match went on however, and Shane and Spanky put aside their differences and rose to the occasions, giving up an epic 3 way final. Once again however controversy would reign. The ref took a bump in the corner off an irish whip, and Paul London took the opportunity to run out with a chair. He smashed Devon in the back of the head with it, then held the chair in place to allow Shane to hit Devon with a chair assisted Superkick. Shane covered as the ref recovered to get the 3 count and eliminate Team 3D.
However Team 3D would get revenge, as London waited for Joel Maximo to get up so he could chair shot him, Team 3D grabbed him, threw him off the ropes and nail a 3D, taking him out of the match and ensuring we'd have a fair winner! Shane picked up Joel as Jose and Spanky battled outside the ring, with Shane slamming him to the canvas and calling for the Picture Perfect Elbow. He went up top as Jose took Spanky down with a Hurricanrana that sent him over the guardrail into the crowd, and Jose would crotch Shane on the top. Joel recovered and you know what that means. SPANISH FLY! They both cover Shane, 1-2-3, LOS MAXIMOS WIN IT!
Winners- Los Maximos
Los Maximos are back as a force in the NWA, and the fans love it as they chant "SAT", referring to their Spanish Announce Team nickname. And almost to oblige, Amazing Red leaps out of the crowd, celebrating with his great friends. They hold up the belts as The Texus head up the ramp, vowing revenge. Perhaps Red will stick around in order to make sure The Texus don't play the numbers game to try and get hold of those belts!
Sugar Dunkerton is backstage with Lenny Leonard ahead of our main event
Leonard: Sugar Dunkerton, you are about to have what may be the biggest match of your professional wrestling career. The eyes of the wrestling world are on you, what do you have to say to them?
Dunkerton: Well Lenny, I want to tell them not to underestimate me. Yes compared to the NWA World Champion AJ Styles I might not be the most well known. But just because I'm a rookie compared to an all star doesn't mean I can't hang with him. As the great Ric Flair said, "to be the man, you've got to beat the man.". So maybe if this rookie can make a power play and hit a slam dunk, it might be me that comes out of this match the all star. Underestimate me at your peril AJ, this might be my only shot at NWA gold and I don't intend to go down without a fight!
NWA World Heavyweight Title Match
AJ Styles vs Sugar Dunkerton
Styles looks focused, as much as Dunkerton perhaps would seem like a low level opponent compared to some of the difficult opponents AJ has overcome on his road to the NWA belt, this is also a man who won the Extreme League against massive odds, and it is not wise to underestimate any opponent. The two shook hands and exchanged a few lock ups, with a stalemate on the mat each time. Dunkerton then challenge Styles to take the basketball from him, a challenge which is accepted. Styles does all he can, but he can't match the basketball skills of Dunkerton and can't take the ball. Out of desperation Styles slides under Dunkerton's legs to try and stop him, BUT DUNKERTON THROWS THE BASKETBALL INTO HIS FACE! Dunkerton then climbs up top, BASKETBALL TO THE BODY OF STYLES! He rolls out of the ring as Dunkerton celebrates, he has thrown Styles off of his game entirely in one of the most bizarre starts to an NWA World Title match in history.
Styles regroups and gets back in, as Dunkerton still has the basketball in hand. And in what may be one of the most awesome things I've seen in a wrestling ring this year so far, Dunkerton throws the ball at AJ, AND HE PELE KICKS THE BALL BACK AT DUNKERTON INTO HIS FACE! The fans chant "holy shit" as Styles has found a way to get the ball away from Dunkerton. Styles immediately goes to work on Dunkerton, grounding him and playing a smart strategy, working over his arm so that he can't use the basketball again later on in the match. AJ looked in total control, but had one problem: Dunkerton would not stay down. No matter what AJ hat him with, he would not stay down for a 3 count, and no matter what hold he'd lock on that arm he couldn't make Dunkerton tap. Whats more, the fans started to rally behind the underdog, turning on Styles and only upping the tension.
In an act of desperation, Styles would put Dunkerton into a Boston Crab, trying to make him submit after all his attempts to make him tap from the arm work failed, and Dunkerton saw the basketball in the corner. He crawled over slowly towards it, grabbed the ball and threw it backwards, smashing into the back of AJ's head! The fans begged for Dunkerton to get back up as he rallied, hitting some Clotheslines followed by a German Suplex. He then calls for a big move, WINDMILL SLAM! 1-2-NO! He goes up top. AIR DUNKERTON! 1-2-STYLES GETS THE ROPES! The fans boo as they thought that was it! Dunkerton is on fire as he call for one more Air Dunkerton. He goes up top, but AJ kicks to his feet and hits the ropes, crotching Dunkerton. He goes up top and he's setting up the Styles Clash. STYLES CLASH FROM THE TOP ROPE! 1-2-3, Styles retains!
Winner- AJ Styles
Styles looks worn out but pleased with his win, as he gets his title belt and the fans give him a standing ovation. Dunkerton then makes it to his feet and gets an even louder ovation, with Styles also applauding him. The two share a handshake and Styles raises Dunkerton's hand, calling him a "future NWA champion". Styles might have won, but Dunkerton has come out of this with a much higher stock than he had coming in, and I think we will be hearing a lot more from him in the future. Good night wrestling fans, see you on our next show where the first NWA Maximum Champion will be crowned!

Two totally dysfunctional tag teams here, with The Texus spending more time arguing and miscommunicating that actually wrestling, while Haas and Benjamin were not on the same page thanks to Haas embracing his fiscal alter ego once again and entertaining the fans with his antics. Cibernetico is backstage, now fully recovered from the injury that arguably cost him the Extreme League at NWA Maximum 1.
