IMPACT WRESTLING
Ep. 11
Taped 02/26/15
Aired 03/05/15
Out to the ring steps AJ Styles, Austin Aries, and Rob Van Dam. The mood here isn't one of joy, as Styles and Aries lost last week. Rob Van Dam says that he's heard Samoa Joe left the company, and that the Beat Down Clan is nothing more than a couple of cronies left to do MVP's bidding, but he says his group, The Foundation, is still strong! Styles takes the microphone and says that he may have lost a battle, but no matter who he faces at Bound for Glory, he'll be ready to win the war! This leads Austin Aries to taking the microphone, and he takes a little time to speak his mind, pacing around and scratching his chin. Aries then goes into a tirade about how he's bent over backwards to help Styles since he made his debut, he's done everything he could to help the man he's looked up to for all these years, but what does that man do when push comes to shove? He let's him DOWN! Styles and RVD both are looking shocked, asking, "What are you talking about?" Aries turns away, only to swing around and BLAST Styles over the head with his microphone, taking him down! RVD grabs Aries, but Aries shoves RVD and kicks him, sending him out of the ring! Styles is stunned on the mat, and Aries grabs him, lifting him and drilling him with a Brainbuster, and the fans are actually cheering for all of this, for the most part! Aries then picks up the mic, breathing hard, and says at Bound for Glory, "The Greatest of All Time" loses his title to the "Greatest Man That Ever Lived" Austin Aries, and the age of Aries begins! The fans are really split here, but the excitement for this new development seems to have them a lot more interested than they were in seeing a rematch between Joe and Styles, as they never seemed to really pick up on that whole feud and this seems fresh and exciting.
Trent Barreta vs. Zack Ryder
Barreta is able to overcome the friend of his enemies here, as he takes down Zack Ryder here tonight. Ryder seemed to kind of bumble through this match, and seemed distracted, and that cost him. His mistakes lead to Barreta's gains, and Barreta managed to plant him with a Swinging DDT after only a few minutes to pick up the impressive win.
Backstage, Christy Hemme is standing in with Bobby Lashley. Lashley says tonight he's been slotted to face MVP's pet dogs in Low Ki and Michael Tarver, and he says he can't wait to get his hands on Tarver and rip him apart! Hemme asks who his partner will be, and Lashley says he hasn't found one yet, but it doesn't matter, he'll fight them both if he has to! That's when none other than Drew Galloway walks onto the shot, and he looks very calm and confident. Galloway says he's made plenty of enemies around here, and he understands what it's like to be out numbered. Galloway says he'll have Lashley's back tonight, and he and Lashley shake hands. Taz notes that the team could be pretty formidable, a couple of lone wolves forming a pact for the night!
Becky Lynch vs. Kimber Lee
Kimber Lee has been sitting on the roster not getting much use since the Juicy Product sailed their ship elsewhere, and she seemed enthusiastic to get back in the mix here tonight. Becky Lynch has a great look and energy, and these two were given some good time to work and tell a story. Lynch was definitely more of the mean girl and has an aggressive streak that had the fans getting behind Lee, who showed good spirit and technical ability. Lee has a larger build and was able to use more power techniques, such as a mighty Release German Suplex, to get near falls, but she took the fans by surprise when she tangled Lynch up in the ropes and locked on a Tarantula Crossface to great effect. Lee would call for the end and attempted a Roundhouse Kick, but Lynch would manage to duck it and delivered an Exploder Suplex that sent Lee right on the back of her head, followed by her Four Leg Clover submission, and that was it. Impressive showing by both, but Lynch just had the killer instinct on this night.
Backstage, The Young Bucks, Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson are standing in with Christy Hemme. Christy asks if they are ready for their match tonight with the Heatseekers, even though it's non-title. Matt Jackson says they fought for a lot of years with no titles, and the belts, while they are nice, and they make for a good pay day, they don't make the fight, the Young Bucks do. Nick Jackson says the Heatseekers have been making a name for themselves the last couple of weeks, but tonight, the Young Bucks make them famous as they get their first invitation to the SUPERKICK PARTY! Into the shot comes Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks, slow clapping and looking unimpressed. Hawkins says the Jacksons seem pretty cocky when they are back here chatting up the women, trading hair care tips and trying on Christy's pants, but out in the ring, they are going to find out why the Heatseekers are the hottest commodity in professional wrestling. Hawkins and Reks then walk on, as the Young Bucks just kind of have a look like "whatever" and walk the opposite way, going to prepare for the match later in the night.
Out to the ring come reDRagon, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish, the current Impact Wrestling Tag Team champions. Fish gets on the mic and says that he and Kyle heard that the Young Bucks have themselves a non-title fight tonight, and they're not looking to give them any excuses! O'Reilly takes the mic and says if they're fighting, then reDRagon is fighting, and they are putting out an open challenge to any team back there who wants to get a lesson in tag team wrestling! Some unfamiliar dubstep style music hits, and from the back come to longish haired, fairly good sized gentlemen, who Taz and Josh Mathews both admittedly don't seem to know much about. One of the men grabs the microphone and he has an Australian accent, saying his name is Buddy Murphy and his partners name is Wesley Blake, and they are the team of Adrenaline, and tonight, reDRagon and the Impact Zone are about to feel the rush! Adrenaline then sprint to the ring and begin laying into reDRagon before the bell sounded and they could even get their t-shirts off! An official hit the ring and had the bell sound, and this match was on!
Non-Title:
reDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish) vs. Adrenaline (Buddy Murphy & Wesley Blake)
After a short minute of chaos, Fish and Blake would be the two to start things off as O'Reilly and Murphy brawled to the outside. reDRagon were looking for a challenge, and these two young, hungry competitors in Murphy and Blake were looking to give them more than they bargained for. It was clear, though, that there was a difference in class here, at least from a teaming stand point, as O'Reilly and Fish just seemed to be a little more cohesive and that made all the difference in the end, despite the valiant efforts of Adrenaline. Murphy would try to give his team one last gasp at a chance of winning this match, reversing an attempt at Chasing the Dragon with a knee to O'Reilly, then blasting Fish with an elbow, following up by trying to run off the ropes, but O'Reilly managed to leap and catch him with a Cross Armbreaker take down, followed by a punt kick from Fish that was sickening! Murphy would hazily tap out as Fish held off Blake at the ropes trying to reenter, and reDRagon makes out with the win, but not without a heck of a fight. Good showing for the debuting Adrenaline here, but they have a ways to go before they get on reDRagon's level.
Backstage, MVP stands in with his team, Low Ki and Michael Tarver, who are both looking ready for battle. MVP says they may have taken some hits to their group, but they are fighters, they are resilient, and Low Ki and Michael Tarver are going to beat down Bobby Lashley, like they've been doing, and then take out Drew Galloway and make him wish he kept his nose in his own business. Michael Tarver tells Bobby Lashley he's going to put him to sleep again, and tells Drew Galloway to take all the time he can looking in the mirror, admiring that pretty face of his, cause they're gonna ruin it tonight! We then head back to the ringside area, where we see Lashley and Galloway making their way to the ring.
Low Ki & Michael Tarver w/ MVP vs. "The Destroyer" Bobby Lashley & Drew Galloway
Lashley found a partner in found a partner in fellow lone wolf Galloway, and these two looked pretty formidable here. Tarver and Lashley have been at odds since Tarver arrived, having went to a no contest in battle and last week Tarver took out Lashley with a Superman punch to further push the issue. Ki was definitely at a size disadvantage in this match, but he made it very hard for anybody to use that against him as he would strike and move, giving MVP something to cheer about as he sometimes would make Lashley and Galloway look like they were wearing concrete shows trying to go after him. He would eventually get caught, though, as he would attempt to deliver a Warrior's Way to Galloway, only to have it avoided and he would get nearly cut in half with a Lashley Spear! "The Destroyer" felt good about that, but would once again get blasted with a Superman punch from Tarver, knocking him under the ropes and to the floor! Galloway would try to attack Tarver, but MVP would grab Drew's foot, tripping him up and distracting him. Drew would turn and managed to duck as Tarver looked to land a Superman punch on him, kicking Tarver and planting him with a Double Arm DDT as the fans cheered! Drew would roll Tarver over, attempting to get the win, only to have Low Ki fly off the top and connect with the Warrior's Way, crushing Galloway as he made the pin and knocking the air out of him! Ki would hurry, rolling over Galloway, and he got the three count! Ki and Tarver get it, but not without a little help from their friend on the outside in MVP! A win is a win, though, with these guys, and they make a swift exit, not wanting to stick around to see what Lashley and Galloway thought about it.
Backstage, in presumably the darkest corner of the arena, James Storm is pacing as he addresses Chris Sabin and Gunner. Storm says tonight needs to be a night of motion for the Revolution. Last week, they suffered set backs, but this week, they must strike fear into the hearts of those who oppose them, or they must reconsider what they stand for... or maybe who they stand with. This comment seems directed at Sabin, sort of a, "Win, or else" sort of ultimatum, and it doesn't seem to be lost on Sabin, who takes a moment to glare at Storm and Gunner as they walk away from him.
Knockouts Title:
Angelina Love w/ Velvet Sky vs. Madison Rayne (c)
The Beautiful People have been making a mess of things in the Knockouts division here lately, and with a pinfall win in tag team action over the champion, Love earned herself a title shot here and potentially a shot at the World Women's title at Bound for Glory. Love and Sky would make Rayne's night a living hell, but Rayne seemed up for the challenge and stuck it out, avoiding that Botox Injection that took her down last week. Sky would attempt to distract the referee as Rayne delivered a Spear, but quickly, as if she'd been laying in wait for the whole match, out ran Ivelisse to grab Velvet Sky from the apron, and with a barrage of martial arts strikes, she took Sky out of the equation! The Beautiful People had cost her a match not long ago, and it seemed the time was ripe for a big receipt. Love would manage to kick out of the Spear at the last second, however, so the match was still in limbo. Rayne would lift her and attempt to deliver her Rayne Check, but Love would escape, rolling and executing a School Girl pin, holding the tights as she did, but Rayne would somehow muscle out, desperate not to lose, and Love was shocked! Love would once again wind up and went looking for the Botox Injection, but Rayne would side step it, kicking Love afterwards and locking her in, planting her with the Rayne Check and eventually getting the pinfall victory! Rayne retains, and she will be headed to Bound for Glory to face AJ Lee for the World Women's championship!
Backstage, 3lite seem to be in a good mood as they stand in with Christy Hemme. Jay Lethal begins speaking, wearing his usual suit and sunglasses, holding his X Division title in hand. He says last week, he separated the men from the boys as he took Chris Sabin behind the woodshed and beat him like he was his own step child! He says Sabin's pouty little face was priceless, the look of anguish on the defeated "Revolution", it was all just BRILLIANT, but tonight, tonight is even better, because tonight... THEY GET TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN! Alex Shelley and Ricochet both laugh, as Shelley goes on to say that he's been waiting for this, personally, as he knows Chris Sabin has been wanting to get a piece of him, and he's been eager to accept. Shelley says tonight, Sabin and that lunatic wanna-be rebel Storm can do their worst, but it's not going to matter when they're up against THE BEST, THE ELITE, 3LITE! 3lite flashes the hand signal, and the scene cuts back to the ring.
Non-Title:
The Young Bucks (Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson) vs. The Heatseekers (Curt Hawkins & Tyler Reks)
The Young Bucks have perhaps their biggest challenge to date ahead of them at Bound for Glory against reDRagon, but Impact officials wanted to see how they could hold up against a challenge of a different kind before the big match, and they were presented The Heatseekers, the fastest rising stars in Impact. Hawkins and Reks did not take this opportunity lightly, and with their size and their history of teaming together, this was never going to be a picnic for the Jackson Two. Hawkins looked like a ring general here early, calling for frequent tags and taking as many cheap shots as he could to play mind games with the champs, but the Young Bucks have seen it all and beat them all when it comes to tag team wrestling. The Jacksons would start feeling their groove, working over the big man Reks, taking out his legs and cutting off the ring before dipping into their high impact arsenal. The Jacksons would manage to hit some big dives to the outside, taking down Reks with their Crazy Dive, and later Nick would use some fancy choreography to dive through the ropes and hit a Tornado DDT on Hawkins on the outside, but Hawkins and Reks were not discouraged. Back in the ring, Reks would manage to catch Nick coming off the ropes with a springboard and put him down with a Powerslam, calling for the end. Reks would try to get Nick up for the Burning Hammer, only to have Matt slide in and catch him with a Superkick to jaw, staggering him and allowing Nick to slip off his shoulders. Nick and Matt proceeded to deliver two low Superkicks, taking Reks down to his knees, and then blasted Reks with Superkicks in stereo to the face, getting these fans here in Orlando going crazy as Josh Mathews yells out "SUPERKICK PARTY!" Matt heads up top, but Hawkins is back in it and grabs his leg. Nick rushes to try to stop Hawkins, but Curt blasts him with an elbow and then gets Matt up on his shoulders... DEATH VALLEY DRIVER OFF THE TOP ONTO THE APRON, CRUSHING MATT JACKSON'S BACK! Hawkins makes it back into the ring and manages to catch an on coming Superkick from Nick Jackson, grabbing him and attempting the One Night Stand, but Jackson lands on his feet. Reks is back up and goes after Jackson, but Nick low bridges and Reks flies over the top, and he's right out of the ring! Hawkins goes on the attack and Jackson grabs him and takes him over the top with a Headscissors, and all four men are on the outside once more! Nick goes to try and revive his brother, who is holding his back on the outside, as Hawkins yells at Reks, "PLAN B!" Reks stumbles over and grabs a chair and tosses it to Hawkins, then grabs another for himself, and the Heatseekers circle, now looking to lay some damage on the World Tag Team champions. As they close in, from the back run Trent Barreta and Drew Galloway, rivals of Hawkins and Reks, and they have chairs in hand! There is a Mexican stand off of sorts, as all four men challenge and wait for the others to make a move. While this is going on, the Young Bucks are back in the ring, and seemingly just as quickly, they are back out, flying and delivering major damage to Hawkins and Reks with stereo suicidas! Matt Jackson grabs Reks and sends him back into the ring, and Nick is quick on their heels. Reks once again is on his knees, and once again the Jacksons deliver huge stereo Superkicks, knocking Reks out nearly completely. Nick Jackson then hurries as Matt gets him into position, delivering a 450 Splash. Matt then rushes up the buckles, as Nick proceeds to rush and slides under the ropes, grabbing Hawkins and hitting a Swinging Headscissors as Matt delivers a Moonsault to Reks, and it's all over! The Young Bucks win it, but not without a hell of a fight from the Heatseekers!
Backstage, Christy Hemme is standing in with Austin Aries! Christy Hemme asks why Aries felt the need to attack AJ Styles, and Aries said that it was to send a message. For years, Styles has been looked at as some kind of superman. Everybody thinks when push comes to shove, he can't be stopped in the big matches, and he's some kind of untouchable God in the ring. Aries says he even drank the Kool-Aid, but those days are done, and a new day is here! He says the days of AJ Styles being the face of wrestling are over, and that was a little message to Styles and the fans. Styles got choked out by Samoa Joe, and he just got knocked out by Austin Aries. At Bound for Glory, he's going to have his championship reign snuffed out, because "A-Double" is going to kill the legend and cement his own! Just as he finishes his gloating rant, into the shot FLIES AJ STYLES! Styles is beating the crap out of Aries, pummeling him with rapid fire fists and then stomps. Rob Van Dam and other officials hit the scene, but Styles shoves and fights all of them back, sending RVD down hard! Styles then grabs a chair and hits Aries over the head with it, knocking him senseless! RVD begs Styles to stop, but Styles yells NO and grabs Aries and pulls him in, lifting him, and then DRIVING HIM HEAD FIRST ONTO THE CONCRETE WITH THE HOLLOW POINT! Taz yells out, yelling that Aries' neck might be broken, and officials rush, pulling back Styles as he looks onto the lifeless body of Aries with a sort of trance in his eyes, like he's been driven over the edge. Medics rush to help Aries, trying to get him onto a stretcher, as we head back to the ring. Mathews says Aries may not make it to Bound for Glory after that, while Taz says he'll be lucky to walk again after that attack. Both agree that he pushed Styles, and the World Heavyweight champion has clearly snapped.
3lite (Alex Shelley & Ricochet) w/ Jay Lethal vs. The Revolution (Chris Sabin & James Storm) w/ Gunner
The situation seemed ominous for Chris Sabin here, as Storm was rather cryptic in his speech with him earlier in the night. Sabin, to his credit, didn't seem shaken but focused, as it wasn't Storm's words that concerned him, but the reason he joined up with Storm's Revolution in the first place: gaining an advantage in his plot for revenge of Alex Shelley. Shelley and Ricochet have been overshadowed by the large personality that is Jay Lethal, but that is clearly by design in the promo department, and in the ring, you can see that the wrestling world now has what may be one of the most impressive tag teams out there. We've seen these two in action together before, but it's clear they've been hitting the gym and working over strategy, and they were working like a well oiled perpetual excitement generating machine, and it was clear Storm was not happy with this turn of events while Jay Lethal marveled in it. Sabin and Storm continually seemed to be trying to slow down the pace and punish the former World Jr. champions with a ground and pound tactic, but with two guys as technically sound and agile as Ricochet and Shelley, that was not an easy task. The teasing of Sabin and Shelley didn't last long, as there was no angle of one man trying to avoid the other. The feeling is mutual between these two, as far as wanting to get at the other, as Shelley blames Sabin for the demise of the Motor City Machine Guns as much as Sabin blames Shelley for turning on him and disbanding the group, so the exchanges between these two were particularly fierce and lead the fans into chants of "THIS IS AWESOME" and "THIS IS WRESTLING" before Sabin would finally be forced to cut off Shelley after many tight exchanges with a series of knees and chops before tagging out to Storm. Storm would look to put an end to Shelley, delivering the Eye of the Storm and then looking for a Superkick, but Shelley would manage to catch this kick coming and roll-up Storm with his Shelley Clutch! Ricochet would manage to rush and get to the corner directly across from Sabin, springboarding and dropkicking him from the ring in an amazing show of speed and agility as Shelley held down Storm for the three!
Shelley, Ricochet, and Lethal all leave the ring from there after a brief celebration, heading up the ramp and looking to party as they flashed the 3lite hand signal, and many of the fans followed suit, as they clearly as on the 3lite bandwagon! Storm was furious in the ring as Chris Sabin rolled back, and Gunner followed suit. Sabin would try to explain what happened, but it was clear Storm and Gunner had already discussed this, and Gunner blasted Sabin from behind with a forearm, sending him right into a Double Knee Facebreaker from Storm! Storm and Gunner stand over the fallen Sabin as the fans boo. Storm then takes the microphone and states that the Revolution has given way to a two man Uprising, and he and Gunner are the only ones bold enough to take the world into the new age, and they have no tolerance for the weak! Storm throws down the mic and they both spit on the fallen Sabin before the show comes to an end.
