So while I hate it when my shows go this way, there is a lot of talk on this show and probably not enough action. But this always seems to happen when I have a lot of storylines going on at the same time and down the line it will lead to bigger payoffs I hope. So yeah, if you don't like talk filled shows this probably won't be the one for you. Also I've toned down the whole Jeff Hardy thing a bit, my plans for him for this show were quite a bit more offensive than what I actually did here, but I hope that what I did with him here is a bit more acceptable than the previous show.
NWA Maximum 4: Maximum Impact
Hello and welcome to NWA Maximum's 4th show. We have a lot in store for you all tonight, so lets get straight to the action with our opening contest.
Amazing Red vs Karl Anderson
This ended up being a pretty one sided match, as while Red got a few moves in it was largely dominated by Anderson, who got to showcase the skills that made him a big part of NWA Hybrid Pro in New Jersey in the past. He would put Red away in a little under 5 minutes with the Gun Stun.
Winner- Karl Anderson
Post match as Anderson celebrates his win, Bully Ray makes his way to the ring with mic in hand.
Ray: "So I bet you think your some kind of big shot cause you won your opening match huh? You think your a tough guy, calling yourself "The Machine Gun"? Well your not. I'm the only tough guy around here, and your nothing until you beat me."
Anderson snatches the mic.
Anderson: Bring it on!
Still a man of few words, he throws the mic down AND TAKES DOWN BULLY RAY! The two start brawling all over the canvas and out to the floor, throwing wild punches as officials rush out to break this thing up. I for one can't wait to see a match between these two!
Shelton Benjamin vs Rhino
The first competitive match of the evening was a good clash of styles, as Rhino took his intense powerful approach against the technical mastery and athleticism of Benjamin. Weapons got involved late on thanks to Rhino, but he perhaps regretted using them as when he went for a Gore, Benjamin grabbed a chair he had brought in and SMASHED it over Rhino's head. Benjamin then got ready for a T-Bone Suplex onto the chair, but before he could hit it the music of Scotty 2 Hotty played and out comes Charlie Haas, dressed as Charlie 2 Hotty. He starts doing the Worm down the ramp as Benjamin shouts at him and tells him to get out of here. But Benjamin's taken his eyes off Rhino, who is back to his feet. GORE! 1-2-3, Rhino picks up a big win and Benjamin loses again.
Winner- Rhino
Benjamin storms off, shoving Haas down on his way past him, as Rhino celebrates. Haas gets in the ring and in a bizarre twist, asks Rhino to dance. And Rhino ACCEPTS, as we get the surreal image of Rhino and Charlie Haas doing the Too Cool dance which the fans go wild for. I've seen it all now. You have to think that The World's Greatest Tag Team are on very thin ground now, if they haven't already broken up then the breakup feels almost inevitible now.
Its time for the return of Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel. Chris Jericho is out to his usual massive ovation from the fans as he takes the mic.
Jericho: "New Jersey, are you ready for The Highlight Reel!"
The fans explode and chant "Y2J" as he soaks in the cheers some more.
Jericho: "As the highlight of the night, the ayatollah of rock 'n' rolla and a true living legend of this business, it us an honor and a pleasure to bring this show to all the Jerichoholics out there. But my guest tonight is somebody who with his actions on the last NWA Maximum show worried me. He is a man that has achieved so much in the business, most notably his 3 World Tag Team Title reigns, and has captivated fans for close to 2 decades. Yet everybody is now talking about him for all the wrong reasons. He is Jeff Hardy!"
Jeff Hardy in the guise of Personal Demons walks out from the crowd to almost deafening boos, save for a few cheers from the diehard fans he has left. He sits in the corner and Jericho throws him a mic.
Jericho: "Jeff, I've known you for years and years, as I've known your brother. We broke into the business at around the same time, and while I ended up with multiple World Title reigns, you had your own World Title reigns in the tag division with your brother and Rob Van Dam. But what I saw at NWA Maximum 3 wasn't the actions of the Jeff Hardy I know. What happened? "
Hardy: "First of all, I have no brother. The man who once was my brother is lying in a hospital bed, all because he didn't have the balls to fight me in this ring. The Jeff Hardy you knew is dead, and he is never EVER coming back. In his place is what you see before you, the combination of all of my inner pain and torture from the years of failures and screw-up's. I am Personal Demons, and I won't rest until Matt Hardy is retired and that NWA World Title belt is around my waist. "
Jericho: "I can understand that you want to make an impact, that you want to make a fresh start and embrace the demons that lurk inside you. I did the same thing a couple of years ago when I got rid of Y2J, I got serious and showed no mercy for anybody, and as a result I had a whole new run of success. I can even understand why you turned on your brother, you justified it with your words after the 2nd NWA Maximum show. But what I don't understand Jeff is why you think your whole career has been a screw-up. Look at all you've achieved: I already mentioned those 3 World Tag Team Title reigns, but you've also made fans all around the world, and you've given the fans moments they will never forget. I'd even call you a bonafide NWA legend in the making.
Most importantly of all though Jeff, you've made friends in this business, friends who are deeply worried about your state of mind right now, friends who want to help you. I want to bring two of those friends out now. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the Highlight Reel, Shane Helms and Shannon Moore!"
Shane Helms and Shannon Moore come out looking concerned, getting a good ovation from the fans. Both have competed in New Jersey in the past.
Helms: Jeff, me and Shannon have known you for longer that either of us can remember. To me your a brother, you helped me get places in this business I thought I'd never go. Had you not put in all those good words for me, maybe I wouldn't have been a 7 time World Junior Heavyweight Champion. Shannon also owes a lot to you, he's been a junior heavyweight star everywhere he's gone thanks to you, and.....
Shannon suddenly snatches the mic from Shane, well this was unexpected.
Moore: Shane, will you just shut the fuck up! I'm sick of your shit, nobody gives a damn that you had 7 World Junior title reigns anymore. You haven't had a permanent wrestling deal with anybody for years, and neither have I. I've always been an afterthought because of guys like you and Matt, AND I'M SICK OF IT! Jeff's right, you've held us back and caused all the substance problems and all the demons we have. I'd have a career if it wasn't for both of you, you can go to hell!
SHANNON SMACKS SHANE WITH THE MIC! He starts stomping away at Shane as Jericho tries to intervene. BUT HARDY STORMS OUT OF THE CORNER AND ATTACKS JERICHO! Hardy and Moore start beating the hell out of Jericho and Helms. Moore grabs a chair and smashes Helms with it in the same, no mercy manner Matt Hardy was attacked last week, while Hardy picks up Jericho. HARDY SMASHES JERICHO'S HEAD THROUGH THE HIGHLIGHT REEL MONITOR! Jericho is bleeding heavily from his forehead as the fans chant "holy shit". Hardy then grabs some tape and he and Moore tie Helms to the rope, also getting another chair. They take turns in just destroying Helms with chair shots, giving him what must have been 20-30 shots between then, before throwing the chairs to the floor, raising their arms and leaving through the crowd. Medical staff attend to both men, who while perhaps not as badly injured as Matt Hardy was last week have still taken a lot of damage.
NWA Maximum Tag Team Title Match
Los Maximos (Joel and Jose Maximo) vs The Texus (Spanky and Michael Shane)
The Texus earned a shot at Los Maximos when they beat the SAT in a six man tag match at the last show. And this was a good and competitive tag match between the two again, reminiscent of their encounter in the 3 Way final at NWA Maximum 2 after Team 3D were eliminated. However this time around it would be miscommunication that would cost The Texus, as Shane would accidentally hit Spanky with Sweet Shane Music as Spanky was holding back Jose. Joel and Jose would then take Shane down with a Maximo Impact, then put Shane up top for the Spanish Fly, which got the 3 count and helped Los Maximos retain!
Winners- Los Maximos
Post match Shane and Spanky started arguing again as Paul London rushes out and tells them to calm down, warning them that if their in-fighting costs him the NWA Maximum Heavyweight Title in the main event he will end The Texus for good right here tonight!
Sugar Dunkerton makes his way to the ring for a special display of his basketball skills. He shows up some of his moves and wows the fans with a slam dunk or two, but before he can finish things off he is interrupted by Tony Nese.
Nese: You call yourself a real athlete Dunkerton, just because you can bounce a basketball a few times? That's nothing. Can you run a marathon without breaking a sweat? Can you be the man of the match in any soccer game? Can you wrestle circles around any opponent? I don't think so, because unlike me your not a "Premier Athlete!"
Dunkerton takes the mic.
Dunkerton: Your a Premier Athlete huh? Well if you are the athlete you say you are, you shouldn't have any problems taking this basketball from me?
Nese seems up for the challenge and they have a basketball challenge. Nese tries all he can, but no matter what he does he can't take the ball from Dunkerton. He gets frustrated and tries throwing some punches, which Dunkerton avoids with ease BEFORE THROWING THE BASKETBALL INTO NESE'S FACE! Dunkerton leaves dribbling the ball land celebrating as Nese has a temper tantrum at being embarrassed in the ring, but he brought this on himself and I expect there will be a match between these two in the near future to decide who is the better athlete!
Now its time for a grudge tag team match, as the most bizarre pairing in the NWA today, Cibernetico and Necro Butcher, team up for the first time to take on Josh Raymond and a mystery partner. Raymond is out on the ramp with a mic.
Raymond: Well if it isn't the man with the so easily breakable arms. I hope you don't break another tonight. And his best friend, a homeless man off the streets, because everybody in Mexico has abandoned him. Such a waste, after tonight is through, you two will be out of my hair forever. You see I have learned that there are three qualities you need to succeed in this business: Excellent wrestling skills, Genius psychology and Outstanding tactical execution. What does that add up to? EGO, and we are going to dominate NWA Maximum!
Josh Raymond's partner comes out, and its BOBBY ROODE! I guess we can call these guys EGO, and the name does seem appropriate for their considerably massive heads and inflated opinions of themselves.
Grudge Tag Match
The Odd Couple (Cibernetico and Necro Butcher) vs EGO (Josh Raymond and Bobby Roode)
There were two very different approaches taken in this matchup. On the one hand you had EGO, who have clearly worked on their teamwork together in Maximum's downtime last week, wrestling intelligently and pulling off some top notch double team moves in the process. And on the other you had the Odd Couple, who disregarded any kind of structure that the match had and just tried out and out maim EGO, using any weapons they could get their hands on in the process. They even managed to pull off one of the more bizarre double team moves I'm seen in a long time, as Cibernetico held Raymond up for a Garra Cibernetica, and Necro PUNCHED HIM OUT OF THE AIR! It looks like the match is about over, until a voice is heard:
"Unwashed masses"
Damien Sandow then comes out and poses on the ramp, as Cibernetico and Necro look on confused. Raymond and Roode then attack both of them from behind with kendo sticks! They beat the hell out of them as Sandow run down to join them, clearly the newest member of EGO. They put both Cibernetico and Necro on separate tables, as Raymond dives off with a PHOENIX SPLASH THROUGH THE TABLE TO CIBERNETICO! Roode dives off the top with an Elbow Drop through the table! Raymond and Roode cover both simultaneously for the 3 count.
Winners- EGO
Raymond has formed one hell of a faction, as Roode and Sandow are about the best kind of backup he could ask for in his battle against Cibernetico and Necro Butcher. Cibernetico will have to try and find another ally if he is to take on EGO and get his revenge!
NWA Maximum Heavyweight Title Match
"Big Bad" Brodus Clay vs Paul London
So going in you would expect a dominant performance by Clay due to the size difference between the two men. And that was the case early on as nothing London tried worked on "Big Bad", with Clay controlling the matchup and going through all of his big moves. But London is crafty, and he had Michael Shane and Spanky run down early on and basically turn this into a 3 on 1 handicap match, as they brought weapons into play and practically made a mockery of the No DQ stipulation on all NWA Maximum matches. Even then though they struggled to keep Brodus down for longer than a few seconds, and a mistimed chairshot by Spanky that accidentally hat London saw Clay get a chance to run riot, taking Shane and Spanky down with a Double Lariat, then hitting them both with a Brodus Bomb at the same time. London was back up though and had set up a ladder, DROPKICK FROM THE TOP OF THE LADDER! Clay falls into the corner as London grabs a chair. CHARGING DROPKCIK WITH THE CHAIR! He sets Brodus up. LONDONS CALLING! 1-2-BRODUS GETS UP! London looks horrified as the big man barely seems winded by the all out assault he just took. Clay charges and takes London down with a Fall of Humanity, then drags him to the corner. BRODUS BOMB! 1-2-3, Brodus Clay retains!
Winner- Brodus Clay
Post match Brodus celebrates as all three members of The Texus lie on the canvas beaten. London makes his to his feet and shout at Shane and Spanky that The Texus is history, which probably means the end of the careers in NWA Maximum of Spanky and Michael Shane. So will London make it on his own? Will Clay go from strength to strength as champion? And what will be the next actions of "Personal Demons" Jeff Hardy and his new ally Shannon Moore? We will find out more answers on the next NWA Maximum show, see you then folks!
