TV Title match
Match #1VS |
The commentators put over Michael Hayes as being a fighting champion given he could have hid behind a 30 day defense clause, but here he is the first time out and defending his newly won TV Title courtesy of his victory at the Saturday Night Special over Eric Locker. Before the match with The Pastor of Disaster Stuart Miles could actually get started though, out came lawyer Christian Mascagni for whatever reason with the Blacklist member and now former champion. Seen as the legal representative back before Retribution for CM Punk, and then representing The East at the February Saturday Night Special, what now?
Christian Mascagni: Hold on, hold on here. Referee, do not ring that bell. This will not be a championship match because that man right there is plain and simply not the champion. He did not defeat Eric Locker at the Saturday Night Special, he did not legally make him tap out, and I want the referee in that match from last Saturday to get out here right now. We can wait all day if we have to. Mr. Miles, I do apologize, although rest assured that when this matter is resolved, not only will you be first in line for a shot, but there will be a sizeable donation made to your church courtesy of The Blacklist.
Miles nods, liking that. From the back comes referee Jordan Barker, though he is closely followed by the Director of Authority Jim Cornette. Both get in the ring, which is getting pretty crowded now.
Jim Cornette: What is this all about? Can't you see we have a show to do out here? You know I can already tell you're out here lying cause your lips are moving.
Christian Mascagni: This won't take long, and I'll advise you to watch your wording in the future. As for Mr. Jordan Barker. I want to know right now, when a wrestler has a submission hold applied, if the opponent has their foot under the bottom rope, is that cause for a break? Yes or no?
Jordan Barker: Yeah, it is, but-
Christian Mascagni: And in the match between my client here and Mr. Hayes, did my client have his foot under the bottom rope before he tapped out? Again, simple yes or no. Not hard.
Jordan Barker: He did, but I didn't see it. I was-
Christian Mascagni: Alright, simple yes or no Jordan. Simple yes or no. So I think we can all agree in that case that in fact Mr. Hayes did not win the match if my client had his foot under the bottom rope when he tapped, and if he did not win the match, my client is still the TV champion. Yes or no?
Jim Cornette: I'll answer that for you, no he's not! Eric Locker tapped, plain and simple. The referee can't call what he doesn't see, and he didn't see it. Jordan's decision is final.
Christian Mascagni: If his decision is final, then I'm afraid we will have to sue this company for every last dollar it has. My client has an airtight case as in the OVW rulebook it states the rule that Mr. Barker admitted just now that he was aware of. He admitted that my client's foot was in fact under the bottom rope when he tapped. If he misses something like that, he is not up to task of doing the job and I want him fired on the spot if you want to uphold that. Mr. Hayes should have been forced to release that hold, Eric Locker is still the TV champion. Not only that, but we will sue for an unsafe workplace. By the time I'm finished, you'll be working for The Blacklist. You screwed Rudy Switchblade out of his title with 2 referees present, there should have been 2 present here as well. That was favoritism, which has no place in your position. Speaking of which, Mr. Switchblade is not here today because we are still crafting out our case after the highway robbery in his match. And then there's Josh Ashcraft ... poor Josh Ashcraft. Fired. Fired for doing his job. Fired for doing his job in 2015, in these United States of America. In these rough economic times. Believe me, you haven't heard the last of him either as he makes a mistake and gets fired, this guy makes a mistake and nothing comes of it.
Jim Cornette: You can try all you want, gonna be a little hard to prove that a wrestler applying a wrestling hold on another wrestler, in a sanctioned wrestling match, held in a wrestling ring, apparently that's an unsafe work environment. As for Ashcraft, you're right. The keyword you left out is do your job and do it well, which he wasn't doing. Jordan, it was an honest mistake. Josh Ashcraft, it was blatant and malicious cheating, almost 100% because of some back room payoff he got from you or The Blacklist. At no point in that match did Rudy Switchblade have it won because of that garbage, so good luck trying to form a case around that. It only affected Jamin Olivencia, and despite that, he still won which shows what kind of competitor he is. If I had been aware of all that pyro and ballyhoo going on with Ashcraft before I got here a couple months back, I'd have fired him my first damn day! Besides, we all know how much I like pyro and ballyhoo. He's just a con artist and he has refereed his last match in Ohio Valley!
Stuart Miles: Do I still get my title shot? That's what I want to know.
Jim Cornette: You can get out of my face right now because if I have to look at yours another split second, as long as we're throwing around legal mumbo jumbo, I'll be suing your parents for what they did 25 years ago for causing my eyes undo anguish. Pastor of Disaster my foot, get out of here!
Miles leaves in a hurry as Hayes takes the mic away from Mascagni.
Michael Hayes: Hold on here, hold on. Mr. Cornette, I appreciate what you're doing, but he's right. I'm not going to let this company go through with this or anybody to get fired just because of a mistake by an innocent man. Eric Locker did tap out, but he did it with his foot under the bottom rope, and that's not how I want to win this title. This is America, and while some things here have went to the dumps with liars and cheats, scum bags like them, that's not me. That's not me, and that's not the America that I went to war for and defended over in Iraq. I can beat Eric Locker, I think I showed that last weekend, so he can have the belt back for now. Because I will get another title shot, and I will make him tap fair and square next time, and there will be no doubt about it.
Jim Cornette: Hold on, so you're saying you're returning the title to Eric Locker?
Hayes nods as a greedy Mascagni grabs the belt away from his grasp. He hands it to Locker, who immediately begins celebrating as though he just won the championship in the main event of Starrcade.
Jim Cornette: That's unfortunate. I really don't know what to say. A little disappointed even, but it's hard to hold it against you for having higher morals than most, myself included. A very commendable act and yes, you will get a rematch. With that said, the TV Title win by Michael Hayes last weekend is erased from the record books, and still TV champion, Eric Locker. But like I said, you will get a rematch Michael. In fact, you're already here, Eric Locker's already here, we've got not 1 but 2 referees out here, and these fans were told a TV Title match would kick off the show, so what the hey? The rematch happens ... right now!
The fans cheer as Mascagni argues that but Cornette just ignores him and leaves. Hayes meanwhile hits Locker as the referee calls for the bell to begin this unexpected title match after a reversal of last Saturday's decision and title change.
TV Title match
Match #1VS |
Michael Hayes defeats TV champion Eric Locker @ 6:21 via countout when Locker simply decided to get himself counted out to take the easy way out with regards to retaining the title. Hayes was off to a quick start in this rematch, dominating Locker for the most part, which isn't to be all that unexpected given he was initially out for a match, while Locker was only out to get his belt back. Hayes went for The Liberty Lock, but Locker got to the ropes and got a break, after which he rolled outside. Christian Mascagni had the championship in hands, handed to Locker and told him to just leave. Titus called it brilliant given a title cannot change hands on a countout or DQ, showing Mascagni's intelligence outshines that of Cornette. Dean called it something else with a B, that being bull. Hayes took the countout win and Gilbert says that while disappointing, it certainly will not be the last chance he gets at the championship. While The Blacklist entered the show down by 3 championships, they have already got 1 back thanks to Mascagni. Could there be more coming?

Aaron Sky defeats Bud Dwight @ 5:38 via pinfall after a top rope springboard splash. Following up on the win in the 6 man tag team match at the SNS, Sky picks up a singles win over The Party Starter here on TV. Dwight put up some offense, but ultimately falls short in what Titus calls revenge for what Dwight to Sky's injured tag team partner Robbie Walker 2 months ago. Dean says that he highly doubts that Walker would approve of any of this. Manager Shelly Martinez encourages Sky to do more to him. Before he can start, from the back comes EFD Eddie Diamond with a box of chocolates. He has been infatuated with Martinez in recent weeks and Dean says it's unfortunate he can't seem to take no for an answer cause all she's nothing but a witch through and through. Shelly doesn't know what to do as EFD tries handing her the box, but in the process just leaves himself open to Sky hitting him from behind. EFD goes down as Sky begins repeatedly kicking him. He then takes the box of chocolates, opens it, and begins rubbing them into EFD's face. He holds it towards the camera, saying to look at him, what a loser! Martinez laughs, telling EFD he has no chance with her, ever! Dwight checks on his partner as the 2 gloat and leave.

The Gossip Minute with Mandy Leon
The Gossip Girl Mandy Leon is back and runs down some of the latest news and rumors that are making the rounds from backstage at the Davis Arena. Fact or fiction, you decide ...- Rudy Switchblade might be planning an overhaul for The Blacklist after the disastrous results at the SNS
- Melvin Maximus may not be the result of Timmy Danger's worldwide search and another could be joining him
- Rockstar Ryan Howe may be starting a band, right here in OVW
- Chris Silvio has hired Christian Mascagni, reason unknown
VS |
Jeremiah Plunkett defeats Elvis Pridemoore @ 4:45 via pinfall after a gordbuster. Despite retaining his "championship", Plunkett before the match says that this was a non title match and his NWA East Title would not be on the line because Pridemoore was not a contender, but just a loser. He was joined by the ringside presence of The Crown Jewel Chase Owens and East newcomer The Vanilla Godzilla Jax Dane, having debuted by attacking former tag team partner Rob Conway at the SNS, as well as the mystery man in a wheelchair with a bandaged face like the invisible man. Nobody played a role in the match outcome of what was a back and forth until the masked wrestler finally fell victim to Plunkett. After the match, Plunkett had both come into the ring where he had Dane kick away at Pridemoore and then deliver the big spinebuster onto him. Dane then held him up as Plunkett told Owens to hit his devastating Roaring Elbow. Owens was reluctant to do so as Dean & Gilbert wondered what hold Plunkett has over Owens. Titus insisted that it's just Owens knowing better because Plunkett will guide him to the top of the NWA and finally get him the World Junior Heavyweight Title he has been after. The mystery wheelchair bound man on the floor then raised a thumbs up, turning it into a thumbs down, clearly wanting results. Owens nodded and readied.
Before Owens could do anything though, "Ironman" by Black Sabbath hit as out from the back came Conway. Dane threw Pridemoore aside and looking like a rabid dog, motioned for Conway to get in there. Conway sized up the situation of the 3 on 1 and headed to the ring. Up the steps, he was about to step in when he stopped and shook his head, instead heading back down. What's this about? Conway stepped back and looked at the ring again as Plunkett laughed, saying he knew Conway was just a coward. At that point from the back comes Mr. Wrestling himself, Nick Dinsmore! The place comes unglued as The Lords of The Ring stand side by side for the first time here since the War Games. They give each other a look and head to the ring, sliding in. Plunkett ducks behind Dane, who starts trading shots with Conway. Owens and Dinsmore exchange some punches, meanwhile Plunkett escapes out to the floor. Conway readies to charge at Dane, but he just drops out to the floor. Owens meanwhile rolls out. Even with the numbers in their favor, The East retreat. Dean says that ain't no even numbers when you're talking about The Lords of The Ring. A showdown seems to be on the horizon as Conway has found backup.

Melvin Maximus defeat Rump Thump @ 4:06 via submission to The Bear Hug. The newest recruit to the management of Timmy Danger impresses here today as 4M Mr. Marvelous takes out his 1 time friend in Rump Thump, despite a plea by Thump before the match to rethink this as he did at the SNS when Danger revealed Maximus in an attack on him. Maximus however had no second thoughts to this match and as Danger put it while joining on commentary for the part of the match, was taking out months of frustration here. Danger says that 4M hasn't been defeated out here in months, has been an unstoppable force, and OVW's response was to take him off TV after taking out The Body Guy almost 2 months ago. Dean says it wasn't that simple and Danger knows that Maximus was injured and had to recover. Danger says the keyword is was, and when he was back and ready to go, he got nothing from Jim Cornette. Only 1 person was there for him, that being him, the manager of champions. The man that guided Marcus Anthony to the longest championship reign in OVW history, he will do the same for 4M because he's bigger, better, and badder than Anthony ever was. Nobody will be spared the wrath of 4M, Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus.

Before the next match, a reiteration of the big announcement from the Saturday Night Special. Beginning on April 15, OVW TV moves their debut airings from Saturday mornings at 9am to Wednesday nights on ION affiliate WBNA-TV. That's right, same day airings. And it starts with a live 2 hour special from Davis Arena at 8pm on April 15, before settling into the regular time slot of 10pm the following Wednesday night. Repeat schedule will continue unchanged. OVW on ION, don't miss it!

Elijah Burke defeats Jay Bradley @ 8:17 via pinfall after the Elijah Experience, a sitout facebuster. Hot off a big win at the SNS over CM Punk's hand picked opponent Lonesome Jay Bradley, The Pope comes back again here on TV to pick up a second win against him. He did take some damage, even kicking out of Bradley's Boomstick lariat clothesline. Burke then made the comeback and finished him off. Dean speaks of Burke being like a new man since that loss to Punk at Retribution and his newfound partnership with former NWA World champion Christopher Daniels. While Punk may be ducking and dodging a rematch with Burke, eventually The Pope will find him. Titus says it won't matter because when he does, Punk will have done what he came to do and be gone. He has no reason to fight Burke again, he has more important things on his plate like becoming the next UFC superstar and taking the OVW Title. Dean says that the only thing on Punk's plate is a crow and someday he'll have to eat it.

Women's Title match
Match #6VS |
This is it. Finally, the long anticipated rematch for the Women's Title that has been delayed several times. It was at the February Saturday Night Special where NWA World Women's champion AJ Lee defeated OVW Women's champion Jessie Belle in a champion vs champion, title for title match, becoming the first woman to ever hold both titles simultaneously. In the aftermath, AJ has been absent with other commitments, all the while Belle refused to compete again until she got her guaranteed rematch. Jim Cornette tried to sign it for last weekend's SNS, but was forced to postpone it to today's TV main event. Only the Ohio Valley Women's championship will be on the line in this rematch.
Daddy's Girl Jessie Belle is out first, looking focused and ready in this opportunity. Dean notes that all throughout her reign she was dependent on the help of her father Dirty South Tracy Smothers, but as has been well documented he was forced to leave town back at Retribution thanks to Heidi Lovelace and The King Jerry Lawler. Can she finally turn things around and regain the title? "Let's Light It Up" plays as the champion's music hits. Scarlett Bordeaux introduces her, but no sign of the champion as the music just continues. Finally it stops as Belle asks the confused referee what's going on. The music starts up again as the Davis Arena awaits the appearance of AJ. Still no sign. Finally Jim Cornette, the Director of Authority heads out instead, confused as anybody here. He gets in the ring and requests a mic.
Jim Cornette: I don't know what's going on here. I know she's back there. I don't think I need remind you AJ, but if you don't get out here and defend that title today, I'll be forced to strip it from you for being in violation of not having defended it in enough time. 30 days has passed, so this is it. It's now or never. I'll tell you what though, Chris Sharpe, start a count. She's got until 10 to get out here or that's that and we're going to have to call this thing.
Nobody knows quite what to make of this as Sharpe begins a count. Cornette says something to Belle, assuring her that he knows AJ is here and in the back. Sharpe continues as Gilbert calls this a strange turn of events. Dean says he can't recall this having happened before, while Titus wonders if Belle will be awarded the title if there's no match?
... 7
... 8
... 9
... and just like that, music hits
Jim Cornette: I know it's fitting, CM Punk the OVW Women's champion, but can I ask just what you think you're doing out here? And where is AJ Lee?
Punk grabs the mic away from Cornette so he can speak.
CM Punk: Jessie Belle, I mean no disrespect to you right now. I have nothing but admiration for the daughter of a legend in this business like Tracy Smothers, making yourself a rare second generation women's competitor. But consider yourself fortunate because I think we all know how this would have ended. The exact same way as every other time you've encountered AJ in the ring, you tapping out to The Black Widow. I'm sure you'll have your chance some day, but now's not it and I'd recommend you get out now because you don't want to be caught in the middle of something that has nothing to do with you. Leave. Seriously. LEAVE!
Belle confusingly starts to leave, seeming perhaps threatened by the words of Punk. Cornette tells him that was uncalled for.
CM Punk: Yeah, tell somebody who cares. Don't you have a tennis match somewhere or something to play? Where is that thing anyway? Whatever, it doesn't matter. What does matter is this right here. The Ohio Valley Women's championship belt. I think by now just about everybody can piece together how I came into possession of it, but what you don't know is the why, so let me fill everybody in. A little over 4 months ago at your November Saturday Night Special, I explained to everybody why I was here. I wanted a chance to win the Ohio Valley Heavyweight championship so that I could turn around and throw it in the trash, disrespecting everybody here just like Christopher Daniels disrespected me. Unfortunately, you made that journey more difficult than I'd have cared for by making me first defeat your precious Pope Elijah Burke. Apparently being a multi time former World champion that actually fought and defended the belt like a real champion unlike Daniels, that wasn't enough. So I just wanted to make sure you knew I was serious, and when I say something, you'd better damn sure listen to me next time and give me the title shot that I earned instead of trying to let it disappear into the ether. You know I wish Madusa were here right now with a trash can so she could do this for me, because if it wasn't apparent, the OVW Women's Title? It's now vacant. That's right. AJ Lee, the best women's wrestler in the world, she walked in here and beat the supposed best you had to offer, and now? Now what happens is that this belt, give it to Jessie Belle, have a match, have a tournament, but so what? It doesn't matter because this proves that whoever wins and becomes the next champion, she's not the best, and the championship means nothing because AJ was never beat. I've disrespected and damaged this championship, just like you disrespected and tried to damage me. And it's just like what I'm going to do against Jamin Olivencia because I want that shot I earned and I want it at Best In The World on April 12. I'm going to beat him and then do the exact same thing to your Heavyweight Title that I did just now. Now you know-
Danny Davis is out at ringside now, yelling at Punk. Cornette heads out and tries to calm him, as does Dean Hill, getting up from commentary and going over to him. He is pissed off about all this.
CM Punk: Like I was saying. I'm going to defeat Jamin Olivencia, and I'm going to make your Heavyweight Title mean nothing. It will mean less than nothing. 18 years of history, thrown away. After this today, you know I'm for real. This isn't a bluff. My goal is not something to screw around with and take lightly. All your little comments, calling me a coward for not showing up the last 2 months. We could be one and done with this, but instead you wasted my time with The Pope. You should have just given me the shot at Retribution, but instead I had to kill time with some second rate, never will be waste of space. I have importing things to do with my time, far more important than this place, and that's why it's merely step 1. Just ask Dana White or Lorenzo Fertitta if they would even take your call. And for wasting my time, for trying to screw with me, consider this an @$$**** tax that I'm charging for being special. Just for being you. You poked the bear and now he's awake and he's hungry, roaring right in your face. I want my title shot!
Elijah Burke is out now and heads into the ring, only for Punk to head out, still with the Women's Title in his possession. He gets into the crowd, still with a mic in hand. Burke exits the ring and considers going after him, but security holds him back warning him of the risk it would pose to fans.
CM Punk: Come on Pope! Come on! Who's the coward now huh? You want this? You want your Women's championship? Come fight amongst your people Pope. I don't think so, because you know as well as I do, these aren't your people. For every 10 OVW fans, there might even be only 1 CM Punk, and that 1 CM Punk fan would die fighting for me while yours all sit on their hands every time you come out just waiting for the slaughter. As for you Danny and your champion Jamin Olivencia, it doesn't matter. Whether he's at his best, it won't matter because I'm better. I'm better because I'm not only the best in this building, but I'm the best in the world!
An angry Elijah Burke looks on while Punk just heads away to the fire exit, followed by a cutback to an even more angry Danny Davis left to do nothing more than watch with longtime friends Jim Cornette and Dean Hill talking to each other behind him about the situation. Gilbert on commentary says CM Punk has just played an ace high today, and he may have another 3 of them up his sleeve yet to be played, a hand that may bankrupt OVW at the table. What will be the reaction though to this next week, next week when Jamin Olivencia is here? For Dean Hill and Michael Titus, Gilbert says so long until then.
Websclusive match #1
Flash Flanagan defeats Dapper Dan @ 4:50 via pinfall after a slingshot somersault splash over the top rope. The hardcore icon of Ohio Valley rebounds from the loss to Dylan Bostic at the Saturday Night Special, this match in itself a rematch from the March 7 edition of TV. Last time Flash showed little discipline by getting himself DQd, but here he would manage to hold out and pick up the victory. Commentary for the week as usual is provided by The Fan Advocate Terry Boddie joined by Gilbert Corsey. Boddie wonders if Flash still has what it takes to compete at the highest level here in Ohio Valley. Gilbert answers back that despite being 48, Flash has shown himself to be like a fine wine and get better with age, although at some point the clock will catch up with him. The question is when?VS |
Websclusive match #2
Dylan Bostic defeats Metal Master @ 7:26 via pinfall after the legdrop off the top rope. The self proclaimed New Wave picks up the important win over long time rival, although not without some controversy. As Metal Master was going for the Jackhammer, Bostic blocked it and turned Master back first to the ref and quickly got in a knee to the groin, unseen by the ref. From there Bostic would head up to the top rope and continue his use of Trailer Park Trash's finisher, claiming it as his own. Boddie feels that Bostic is messing with the wrong person in TPT. Gilbert agrees and by the time TPT's done, the once Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling may end up looking more like the Keith Richards of Professional Wrestling.VS |
