The ceremonial candles are lit and the flute plays in the background as Jinsei Shinzaki works through his prayer movements as smoke rolls in the foreground. Shinzaki collapses from this vision as the camera angle changes to an overhead shot that spirals down towards his face as his eyes shoot open, white as snow. "REBELLION."
The show opens with Keiji Mutoh standing in his office with one of his star pupils, Sanada who looks a bit dejected. Mutoh explains to him his pride in him, and that he's wearing the paint for a reason. Keiji sees great potential in him and knows that with the right spark he will be bound for greatness. Sanada still looks a bit disappointed, that he's dishonored his mentors reputation and you can feel Sanada's angry rising but he keeps his mouth shut. Keiji surprises him with a match to open the show against KUSHIDA. Mutoh beams with pride at his match booking and his pride in Sanada, but his pupil looks annoyed and bothered by his lack of impact so far in Union Pro.
KUSHIDA has been having a lot of fun and really connecting with the crowd, he's found his niche and he's enjoying the run. Sanada has had a dark cloud hanging over him every time he steps into the ring in Union Pro and tonight is no difference as these two men mixed it up. Sanada would bring everything to the fight he had, but his loses have gotten into his head and KUSHIDA was able to find a lot of openings. Sanada did show a lot of determination after being locked in a crossface, but he couldn't escape as KUSHIDA cranked back until Sanada passed out.
We cut backstage where Kota Ibushi sees Kazuchika Okada, Ibushi puts a hand on Okada's shoulder trying to thank him for coming to the aid of Tanahashi and himself last week. Okada smacks away Ibushi's hand and gives him an icy glare. Okada lets Ibushi know that he didn't help because he liked Ibushi or Tanahashi, he stepped in because he didn't want to see Tanahashi hurt. Okada wants the NWA Pacific championship out of the hands of a gaijin.
Chono is slowly showing that he's becoming a powerful puppet master in Union Pro, and he's given Nakamura a "go for the throat" mentality. Shinsuke from the opening bell was ruthless in his quest to come away with a victory brutalizing Sekimoto with knee's to the head multiple times. Chono has apparently tapped into Nakamura's MMA skills as he pummeled Daisuke in vicious fashion. Sekimoto would gather his composure to turn the tide of the match with a huge release german suplex with enough force to send Shinsuke rolling backwards and onto his feet before toppling back down face first into the mat. Blood would pour from the forehead of Sekimoto as he sized up Nakamura for a spear attempt but Shinsuke would counter with a variation of the Boma Ye stopping Sekimoto cold. Nakamura opted not to go for the pinfall but would lock Daisuke in the shining triangle. Daisuke would refuse to tap, but would pass out from the pain.
Keiji Mutoh was so excited about this match up that he declared that the winner would get a title shot at whoever wins tonights main event for the NWA Pacific championship! These two men if teamed together would make powerful allies but Okada's attitude has put a stop to that almost immediately. Okada would once again make it rain on the fans in attendence, but the mood shifted when "Warriors" by Imagine Dragon hits rallying Ibushi to the ring as this match up got underway. Okada tried to intimidate Ibushi but Kota wasn't having any of it as he went toe to toe with Okada! The match started out with both men exchanging open hand slaps which transitioned into punches in the middle of the ring! Okada would go for the rainmaker lariat really early and Ibushi was able to duck the swing and answer with a pele kick that rocked Okada. Ibushi would catch and execute a few varied suplexes on Kazuchika sending him into a bit of a rage at the speed of Ibushi's counters. Okada would have to slip out of the ring to regain his composure but Kota wasn't having it as he dove over the top rope with a senton! Okada was able to make a shortcut sending Kota into the steel turnbuckle on the outside following up with Heavy Rain putting Kota in the fetal position. Okada wasn't done punishing Ibushi weaving his arm around the turnbuckle yanking him into it multiple times sending his face and shoulder whipping into the cold steel over and over doing major damage. Okada would roll his opponent back into the ring tugging and wrenching on the worn shoulder but Ibushi would start kicking his way back into the fight eventually catching Okada with a springboard tornado style DDT that had both men laying exhausted in the middle of the ring. Okada and Ibushi would have to use one another to get back to their feet with Okada scoring with the rainmaker lariat this time, but it would only get him a two count! Okada was bewildered but he wasn't giving up as he tried for another hoping to put the final nail in the coffin. Kota would duck the lariat and work his way into a sitout powerbomb that snapped Okada's head violently off the mat. Ibushi gathered everything left in him to get to the top rope using a corkscrew 450 to finally win the intense battle!
After the match Mutoh would step out onto the ramp applauding the match. Ibushi would hold his shoulder in pain, as Okada would slowly rise to his feet as well. There was a tense few moments before Ibushi and Okada nodded to one another gaining each others respect.
The show was shorter on matches because of this high profile match. It was fast paced from the start with both men countering the other in a move for move game of human chess which resulted in more than one stalemate. AJ would eventually score with a massive dropkick before throwing his arms out taunting his challenger, Tanahashi would accept the challege and answer with a big dropkick of his own before mocking the champion! The match continued to be back and forth with either man answering the others challenge with AJ teasing the styles clash a few times but Hiroshi would always wiggle or fight free from the devastating finishing hold. Tanahashi would get rolling putting Styles on the mat with the sling blade looking to go off the top with a high fly flow but AJ would roll out of the way at the last second, slapping the stunned challenger in the calf killer, but Tanahashi would literally claw his way to the ropes. Tanahashi would limp for a few moments allowing AJ to pick him apart with a baseball slide dropkick to the injured leg of Tanahashi before trying to apply the calf killer again but Hiroshi would fight for dear life kicking away Styles before he could apply the pressure. Tanahashi wouldn't see Styles come off the ropes with a springboard forearm smash as the champion started to get on a roll trying to put the finish to this championship match up. The match would hit the 24 minute mark before AJ finally planted Tanahashi with the styles clash but he was able to kick out at the last milisecond! AJ would get extremly annoyed bringing the title into the ring to blast his challenger with the solid gold belt. Tanashi would duck the title swing and hurl AJ with a half nelson suplex! Hiroshi looked to finish the match grabbing Styles for a dragon suplex but AJ would fight free and hit a leaping enziguri trying to drag Hiroshi into position for another styles clash that would get countered with a hurrincanrana that Tanahashi was able to hold onto for a two count. Tanahashi looked for another attempt at the sling blade but nearly got his head taken off with a superkick by styles who had a bit of blood trickling from his lip from god knows what. Styles wasn't going to leave anything else to chance going for the spiral tap, Tanahashi tried to get his knees up but AJ was ready as he pulled the senton aspect to almost land cleanly on his feet, grabbing Tanahashi's legs wrenching him up for another styles clash. AJ would drive him into the mat with authority holding the challenger down for a three count!
It was a match to be admired, a real MotY battle but it wasn't going to end pleasantly. Masahiro Chono and his team would storm the ring and assault Hiroshi! AJ looked on for a moment scanning the mugging before joining in! TenCozy, Nakamura and now AJ Styles would stomp away at a war worn Tanahashi! There was no help coming after Okada and Ibushi were to damaged from their own little war and Sekimoto wasn't able to do anything after the beat down from Nakamura earlier in the show. Masahiro Chono would get on the microphone as the last few boots were delivered to a helpless Hiroshi.
Chono: I should be the one in charge not you Mutoh! It's thanks to me and my investors that AJ Styles didn't throw the NWA Pacific title in the trash! I'm the one that made sure that he'd come out and defend our championship with every breath. I've recruited some of the most powerful talents on this roster under my lead, and if Union Pro won't be handed to me, I'll take it by force! This is a REBELLION! Mutoh do the wise thing and hand over control of the Union or prepare to suffer...
