NWA Maximum Presents: Maximum Destruction Part 2
Ted Dibiase is out to start our show ahead of the opener versus Bad News Barrett. Bad News Barrett rises up on his podium and has something to tell us.
Barrett: "Ted Dibiase, I bet you think life is great. You are young, rich, and a great wrestler. But I'm afraid I have some BAD NEWS for you. In fact, it is a message from your father. He says and I quote: son, I have watched you in action over the past few years, and while you are skilled I am very disappointed in your attitude. You flaunt your wealth like a spoiled child, you lack maturity and have failed to live up to my legacy. I think its time you made your own path, so I am cutting off your trust fund, effective immediately. Make your way in this world as a man of the people, stop being a million dollar boy and become a million dollar man!"
Dibiase looks in shock at this development, not only by the fact he has had his trust fund cut off, but that his father didn't even tell him in person. This will have a big psychological effect on Dibiase here tonight for sure.
Bad News Barrett vs Ted Dibiase
A crucial match for both men as they haven't had the best win/loss records lately (albeit Barrett boosted his with a win over Kyle Matthews a few weeks ago). Dibiase looked shaken by what happened only a few moments ago, and lost focus, his wrestling wasn't as sharp as it usually is and this let Barrett dominate him on the mat and in the brawling department to. Dibiase tried his best but when your head isn't in it there is only so much you can do, as Barrett would hit the Bad News Bull Hammer and get 3 to win this match.
Winner- Bad News Barrett
Johnny Gargano heads out to the ring, getting a good ovation from the fans, and he is looking to respond to Bray Wyatt.
Gargano: "Bray Wyatt, last week you tried to drag my name in this business into the ground, and to me there were a lot of holes in your little monologue. Do you honestly believe that I try to control my friends and my allies? The Revolution was a group of equals with a purpose, that being to overthrow the established order and make new stars. Everyone in that group was a star, and they have all gone on to success. Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Chuck Taylor, Jack Swagger, all those guys are established NWA names at this point, and The Revolution helped them makes those names. To say that I controlled them shows a complete lack of understanding for what we were!
And how dare you try and pin Paul London's insanity on me. London drove himself to insanity with his own failings to live up to the standards set by the longest reigning Junior Heavyweight Champion of his generation Daniel Bryan, that is no fault of mine.
But my purpose here tonight isn't to waste any more time with you Bray, my purpose tonight is to someone else: Kyle Matthews. Kyle, I'd like you to come out here, you know that's the way we've always done things. "
Kyle Matthews comes out to an equally big ovation and the two have a staredown, as Matthews grabs a mic of his own. Gargano however is the one continuing to talk.
Gargano: "Kyle, I know that you and I have never seen eye to eye. From day one we have been enemies, and we have had some of the best battles New Jersey has ever seen against each other. But we have a shared enemy, an enemy who I feel has a lot more power than either of us have faced previously, and to battle him as individuals is only going to lead to failure. If we were to join forces, putting aside our differences to take on our common enemy, I know that we can take him and anyone else that stands in our way down. I'm not asking you to like me Kyle, because I still hate you as much as I ever have, I'm simply asking you to trust me."
Gargano puts his hand out to Matthews to shake, as the fans are electric for this. But Matthews just looks and gives his response.
Matthews: "Do you honestly think after all you've done to me Gargano that I'm just going to put all that aside and trust you. You destroyed my dream for the NWA with The Prophecy, you held my career back at very turn and no matter where I go, you follow me around like a disease. And now you want me to forget all that AND TRUST YOU! The answer is no, I will never trust you, I don't need you to defeat Bray Wyatt and Paul London, just like I didn't need you to win an NWA World Heavyweight Title. I'm the most hybrid athlete in NWA history and you are nothing, you can kiss my ass!"
Matthews leaves as the fans are mixed, some of them cheering for Matthews because they love his honesty and respect the skills that make him "The Most Hybrid Athlete in NWA History", others booing because they want to see what Gargano and Matthews could do as a team. But that isn't going to happen, and I guess Gargano now needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out just how he is going to take down Bray Wyatt and Paul London on his own.
Bray Wyatt is watching backstage alongside Paul London, and is laughing away to himself at what he has just seen. This is exactly what he wants to see, and the ball is very much in his court in his rivalries with both of these men.
Elimination Match
The SAT (Amazing Red, Joel and Jose Maximo) vs EGO (Damien Sandow, Bobby Roode and Cody Rhodes)
On paper this was potentially going to be another great match in the rivalry between these two factions, with EGO having taken the NWA Maximum Tag Team Titles from Los Maximos last week in controversial fashion. What happened instead was even more shocking. The match played out normal enough for the first five minutes, as all six men battled away in a match with little structure, just all out crazy wrestling and flying with lots of intensity from both sides.
Then the match took an unexpected twist. As we came close to an elimination, Biff Busick, Drew Gulak and Chris Dickinson charge into the ring out of the crowd, carrying baseball bats. THEY ATTACK BOTH TEAMS WITH THE BATS! Busick and Gulak beat the hell out of Los Maximos with the bats, as Dickinson throws Rhodes into the ropes and smashes the bat into his face, busting him open huge! Red tries a top rope dive on Dickinson, but he just walks out of the way and Red crashes to the canvas, before Dickinson hits him with the bat over his spine. Gulak and Busick go to work on the rest of EGO with some kendo sticks as Dickinson goes outside the ring and grabs a chair. He puts it on the canvas and grabs Red. BRAIN DRILL ONTO THE CHAIR! The fans chant "holy shit" as Dickinson hits Rhodes a few more times, and these three men have destroyed The SAT and EGO in a few short minutes, leaving the ref to call this a no contest.
Winners- No Contest
Just to add insult to injury, Dickinson grabs the ref and throws him over the top rope to the floor, Gulak puts Roode in the Gu-Lock, using a kendo stick to choke him out as Busick does the same with a Sleeper Hold to Sandow. Dickinson grabs the mic-
Dickinson: "So this is NWA Maximum, the place that likes to call itself hardcore. Yet the tag division consists of a team of indy spot monkeys and a team that belongs in sports entertainment. Thats bullshit! Well me, Busick and Gulak are here to change that. We don't give a fuck about winning or losing, we just want to kick some ass and these guys are first on the list. Anyone else who want to cross us, they'll get their asses handed to them to. I expect you want a name to call us by, well you can call us BEYOND. Why? Because we will go above and BEYOND to kick everybody's asses!"
The group known as BEYOND leave to a loud reaction from the fans, obviously their actions were violent and difficult to justify, but at the same time a team that simply wants to fight is one that is very admirable in NWA Maximum, the most extreme promotion in the NWA today. I can't wait to see these three in an actual match!
Officials meanwhile attend to both teams, with Amazing Red being carried out of there on a stretcher while the rest manage to just about leave through their own power.
NWA Maximum Heavyweight Title Match
"The Man Beast" Rhino vs "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson
You knew going into this match that it was going to be a war, any match that involves two talented brawlers like these two is of course going to be wild. Rhino as he often does had the power advantage, but Anderson was cunning and the better fighter of the two, which says a lot about his skill as Rhino is one of the best brawlers in the NWA himself. Anderson brought a chair into the mix and smashed Rhino over the head with it a few times, looking to weaken any potential impact of the Gore, but Rhino eventually got hold of a chair himself and the two had a chair battle, ending with Rhino SMASHING Anderson over the skull with a sickening shot. Rhino then got a table out and set it up in the corner, looking for a Gore. He threw Anderson towards the table and went for it, BUT ANDERSON MOVES AND RHINO GOES THROUGH THE TABLE! Rhino is still somehow standing however. GUN STUN ON THE TABLE SHARDS! 1-2-3, we have a new NWA Maximum Heavyweight Champion!
Winner- NEW NWA Maximum Heavyweight Champion, Karl Anderson
Post match the two shake hands and Rhino raises Anderson's arm in victory, as the former champion is gracious in defeat. Anderson celebrates his win and he is definitely a worthy holder of that belt, I can't wait to see how well his reign goes.
Shane Helms makes his way to the ring, in what is an unscheduled appearance, but it appears he has something he wants to say.
Helms: "I'm sorry to interrupt the show, but I can't keep silent anymore. At Uncensored, my good friend Chris Jericho is doing battle with a man who was one of my mentors in this business, who has lost his mind, Jeff Hardy. This match has so much importance, which is why I want to make a request to our commissioner, Steve Blackman. Commissioner, would you please come down to the ring so I can ask you personally."
"The Commissioner of Asskicking" obliges, as Steve Blackman heads to the ring, and lets Helms make his request.
Helms: "Thanks for hearing me out Steve. As you and everyone else knows, the career of Chris Jericho is on the line at Uncensored, and if there's one thing I'd hate to see its Chris losing all he has worked for under some kind of controversial circumstances. That is why I want to offer my services as a guest referee for the match, to ensure that the winner of this match is decided fairly under the rules of NWA Maximum."
Steve Blackman thinks about this for a minute, before getting a mic and giving his response.
Blackman: "Shane, your request is admirable, and you do share my concern that this match shouldn't be decided by outside circumstances from Personal Demons. But I have a concern and I think its a fair one. You and Chris are close friends as you said, and you combine that with your recent rivalry with Personal Demons and The Reject and that to me doesn't indicate an unbiased official. Its one thing making sure Chris Jericho doesn't get screwed out of his career, but its another to win a match because of bias. I can only make you the official for this match if you promise to show complete impartiality from bell to bell. "
Helms: "It's a fair point Steve, and that is why I have a proposal. If I show any kind of bias towards one wrestler or another in this match, and that bias leads to that wrestler winning the match, then I will end my own career and retire from professional wrestling!"
Again Steve Blackman considers this for a minute.
Blackman: "OK Shane, I'll make you the special guest referee. Just remember however, a man's career hangs in the balance, call it down the middle and make sure the best man wins."
The two shake hands and leave, and this is a big development as Shane Helms is now the guest referee for the match at Uncensored between Chris Jericho and Personal Demons. A new level of intrigue has been added to that match, and with Shane Helms putting his own career on the line we are guaranteed a fair winner.
NWA Maximum TV Title Match
Randy Orton vs James Storm
This is it, the match that everybody has been waiting for, and it definitely did not dissapoint. Orton has been a great champion so far and has had some big challenges, but Storm has always been waiting in the background for his shot, and just like Orton he is undefeated in NWA Maximum. The two exchange holds and counter holds early on, with neither man really getting an advantage, until Storm managed to hit some punches and knocks Orton to the outside. Orton heads back into the ring, and fires away with punches of his own, taking Storm out of the ring with a Clothesline. And this is how much of the match plays out, with an "anything you can do I can do better" approach of one upmanship, as they take turns at hitting their signature moves and indeed countering those moves. As we came to the climax, Storm hat the Closing Time, as he then begged Orton to get up. LAST CALL! 1-2-NO, Orton got his foot on the ropes! Storm lifts up Orton for the Eye of the Storm, but Orton slips out of the hold and hits an Olympic Slam! 1-2-NO! Orton lifts up Storm and throws him into the ropes, but Storm reverses as Orton goes off the ropes, only for Orton to take him down with a series of Clotheslines and a Powerslam. Orton is hearing the voices, he pounds the canvas and waits for Storm to get back up. RKO! 1-2-STORM GETS HIS FOOT ON THE ROPES! Orton is frustrated, and we know what happens when he gets frustrated, as now he wants the Punt Kick. He tries it but Storm sweeps the leg and locks Orton in the Sharpshooter! Orton is holding on by a thread as some fans chant for him to tap and others chant for him not to tap. He pulls himself towards the ropes and makes them. Storm tries one more time to hit the Eye of the Storm, but Orton slips out again AND HITS THE RKO! 1-2-3, ORTON RETAINS!
Winner- Randy Orton
What a great match between these two men, the fans give them a standing ovation and the two share a handshake. Orton is the better man on the night, but I think this isn't the last time we've seen Storm challenge for gold in NWA Maximum. Meanwhile Orton goes from strength to strength as the NWA Maximum TV Champion!
Main Event, Tag Team Match
Chris Jericho and "Big Bad" Brodus Clay vs Personal Demons and Brock Lesnar
Our main event is a battle of two sets of rivals in what is a dream partners style tag match. Not only do we get a preview of both Personal Demons versus Chris Jericho and Brock Lesnar vs Brodus Clay, but we get to see what Jericho vs Lesnar and Clay vs Demons matches could be like. Any pretence that this was going to be played out as a regular tag match was thrown out the window early on as soon all four men were in the ring battling, with Lesnar and Clay heading out to the shop floor eventually and Jericho and Demons fighting in the ring. Lesnar looked to be dominating Clay and took him down with a Clothesline and a Suplex on the floor, while Jericho had Demons in the corner with some punches followed by a Dropkick. Lesnar wanted an F5 through the announcers table, a move that would certainly end Clay's involvement. He lifts Clay up but Clay somehow escapes and grabs Lesnar. CLAY POWERBOMBS LESNAR THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE! The fans chant "holy shit" as Clay recovers on the outside and Lesnar is out cold. Meanwhile The Reject has charged out and attacks Jericho, hitting the Mooregasm from the top. Shane Helms makes the save and runs off The Reject, but the damage is done as Demons hits the Twist of Fate to Jericho, followed by the Swanton Bomb. Demons goes for the cover, but Clay breaks it up. Demons grabs a chair and smashes Clay with it BUT IT HAS ZERO EFFECT! Demons however starts smashing Clay again and again and again with the chair, and no matter how big you are there's only so many chair shots you can take, as Clay struggles to stand against the barrage of chair shots. He finally collapses after what felt like the 15th chairshot, and Demons keeps smashing him with the chair as he lies on the canvas knocked out! He dishes a few chair shots to Jericho to keep him down, before he goes outside and grabs a huge ladder, and god knows what he is planning with this. He sets it up loosely in the corner and climbs the turnbuckle, and if he is planning what I think he might be this could permanently damage Clay. He dives and pushes the ladder down AS THE LADDER CRASHES DOWN ON CLAY'S SKULL! Again the fans chant "holy shit" as Demons covers Clay, 1-2-3, Demons wins in utterly brutal, ruthless fashion!
Winners- Personal Demons and Brock Lesnar
This was one hell of a statement of intent by Demons, not only did he take down Jericho and send a message to him, but he just annihilated a man in Brodus Clay who has been one of the most dominant figures of recent times in the NWA with an attack of such ruthlessness that he looks almost unstoppable. Will Clay even be able to wrestle Brock Lesnar next week, its match two of the series inside of Hell in a Cell and that isn't a match you should go into at anything less than 100%? Lesnar himself looks like he could struggle after being put through the announce table by Clay, which in itself is a message of intent. Next week is going to be very interesting indeed, we will seen you then for NWA Maximum's Maximum Destruction #3!
Ted Dibiase is out to start our show ahead of the opener versus Bad News Barrett. Bad News Barrett rises up on his podium and has something to tell us.
