NWA Maximum Presents: Maximum Destruction Part 3
Chris Dickinson vs Amazing Red
An interesting matchup here, as you had Dickinson wrestling a mixture of his regular style with a more hardcore edge, using weapons whenever the opportunity arose and just looking to beat the hell out of Red. Meanwhile Red fought back with his usual array of high flying moves, dazzling the fans in the process with his skills. Dickinson however would win his debut match, hitting Red with his baseball bat, then hitting a Brain Drill ONTO A STEEL CHAIR! That got Dickinson a knockout victory and could leave Red with a concussion.
Winner- Chris Dickinson
We see a video of Ted Dibiase, who last week found out that his trust fund has been cut off and he is not getting any more money. We see him selling off his possessions just to keep some aspects of his lifestyle going, and the luxury apartment he bought when he moved to New Jersey to work in NWA Maximum has been put up for sale. It seems that Dibiase is struggling to adapt to a life without money and things are sure to only go further downhill for him in the next few weeks.
EGO (Damien Sandow, Bobby Roode and Cody Rhodes) vs Azrieal, Bandido Jr and Archadia
A showcase match for EGO, as they dominated the three local talents and had a chance to show off all the talent that has made them the NWA Maximum Tag Team Champions. Archadia got taken out of the match with a Lariat from Roode, as Sandow took out Azrieal with the You're Welcome. Rhodes then finished the match off by hitting a Cross Rhodes on Bandido Jr, which was enough to get him the 3 count.
Winners- EGO
James Storm is in the locker room, a look of reflection on his face.
Storm: "Randy Orton, thanks for a great match last week. You were a worthy opponent and you were fully deserving of your win on the night. But I know that with some more time, I can match you in that ring and take you down, winning that belt in the process. Don't count this cowboy out, give me a few weeks and some more matches to sharpen my skills, and then Randy I will be ready for round two. That TV Title will be mine!"
BEYOND (Biff Busick and Drew Gulak) vs Los Maximos (Joel and Jose Maximo)
Los Maximos were looking to get some revenge on BEYOND for the brutal assault they dished out on them and EGO last week, but BEYOND are not a team to be played with. Busick and Gulak showed some chemistry, they actually have teamed before in New Jersey and combined their sharp matwork and hard hitting strikes with weapons, mainly the baseball bats they used last week. Los Maximos could only keep up by using their high flying skills and sharp double teams, but even then BEYOND just seemed to shrug off anything Los Maximos threw at them as they began to run out of ideas. They would take Jose out of the match with a con-chair-to, followed by duelling shots with kendo sticks to Joel. Then in one of the most brutal double team moves I've seen in quite a while, Gulak locks Joel in the Gu-Lock AND BUSICK SMASHES HIM IN THE FACE WITH THE BASEBALL BAT! The fans chant "holy shit" as the ref declares Joel Maximo knocked out and awards the match to BEYOND!
Winners- BEYOND
Its time for the first title defence of Karl Anderson, as he defends versus Bad News Barrett. Barrett rises up on his platform to give us some bad news!
Barrett: "Karl Anderson, congratulations on winning the NWA Maximum Heavyweight Title last week, it was a truly awesome victory versus a tough opponent in Rhino. But I'm afraid I've got some BAD NEWS for you. You are going to have the shortest title reign in this company's history, as when I pin you to the canvas the reign of Bad News Barrett will be BAD NEWS for NWA Maximum!"
NWA Maximum Heavyweight Title Match
"Machine Gun" Karl Anderson vs Bad News Barrett
This was a really tough first title defence for Anderson, as Barrett proved to be a match for him in almost every area. The two were equals on the mat and in the fighting stakes, with Barrett perhaps having a slight edge thanks to those fists of his, such are the benefits of a bare-knuckle boxing background. As such Anderson had to rely on luck a lot of the time, picking his shots wisely throughout the match and making a few big comebacks. Barrett however looked like he had this won, as he hat the Winds of Change for a near fall then called for the Bull Hammer. He went for the move but Anderson avoided it, and hat the Gun Stun! That would get Anderson the 3 count and help him retain the title.
Winner- Karl Anderson
We see Personal Demons and The Reject sitting in the shadows somewhere in the basement of the arena.
Demons: "So Shane Helms, you want to try and interject yourself in the match with Chris Jericho? And to top it all you want to say that you will retire if you show any partiality? I'm very amused by this Shane, but part of me wonders why you are doing this. You know full well that you have a bias with your association with Chris Jericho, so how can you possibly referee this match with impartiality? After all, you hold a man's career in the balance, if your friend Chris Jericho is forced to retire because you counted the three count, it will be on your conscience for the rest of your life that you cost him his livelihood. Meanwhile Shane if I lose this, you will have me to deal with, I will make your life hell just like I made Chris's life hell. Maybe that is what will make you impartial, that any kind of bias from you will not only end your career but will leave you filled with regret. It is going to be a pleasure seeing you there, unable to interfere, as I end the career of a former seven time World champion live on pay per view."
NWA Maximum TV Title Match
Randy Orton vs Rhino
Another very tough title match for Orton, as Rhino is just off of an impressive run as NWA Maximum Heavyweight Champion before he lost the belt to Karl Anderson last week. Rhino's power and intensity was difficult for Orton to keep up with, so he took more of a mat based approach, looking to ground Rhino, targeting the surgically repaired neck which will also make the RKO all that more impactful. Despite all the neck work from Orton, Rhino got a run of offense together and got some near falls, before going for the Gore. But Orton would catch Rhino mid Gore and drop him with an RKO, which ensured Orton would retain his title by pinfall.
Winner- Randy Orton
Johnny Gargano is out to the ring, and apparently has some more to say regarding what happened last week.
Gargano: "You know, maybe I've misjudged things a little. While I do consider myself a rational human being, last week I think my approach to the situation with The Family and with Kyle Matthews was all wrong. I realise now that sometimes we can't just let bygones be bygones, and that if you have an enemy in this world you can't just expect them to put that aside overnight to battle a greater enemy. That's why I have another proposition for you Kyle, one that I know you will have no problems accepting. Get out here and face me!"
Kyle Matthews answers the call and stares down Gargano again.
Gargano: "Alright Kyle, I hate you and you hate me, and now its time to settle this score once and for all. Next week Kyle, I want you one on one in the middle of this ring, to once and for all decide who the better man really is!"
Matthews has a wry smile on his face at this offer.
Matthews: "The chance to kick your ass one more time Gargano sounds like a great idea to me, I accept your challenge. I just hope that you are ready to lose yet again to the most hybrid athlete in NWA history! But why wait until next week, I'm right here and more than happy to dish out another beating!"
The two throw the mics down and have an intense staredown, before they start throwing punches! They go back and forth neither man getting an advantage, until Gargano hit an Enziguri and dazes Matthews. Gargano tosses Matthews into the ropes, but Matthews ducks underneath and hits the Slurpee Kick. He then tries for the Hidaka Lock, but Gargano reverse AND HITS THE HURTS DONUT! Gargano has won this little battle, but that doesn't mean he has won the war, which we will see next week. It is going to be phenomenal to see these two battle one more time and try and settle their differences.
Bray Wyatt and Paul London are again watching backstage, and Wyatt looks a bit more concerned than he did last week. Part of him must be happy that these two are fighting each other, but part of him must also be worried that after the battle, they may finally be able to set aside their differences and team up versus The Family. Part of me thinks that Wyatt will make his presence felt next week during that match.
Hell in a Cell
"Big Bad" Brodus Clay vs Brock Lesnar
Clay looks beat up, he's suffering after the brutal assault from Personal Demons last week, and a Hell in a Cell match may be a little too much for him at this stage. Lesnar on the other hand looked a bit more refreshed, he did get put through the announcers table by Clay but has clearly recovered from that. And Lesnar took full control of the match from the outset, dropping Clay with a Clothesline and some knees in the corner. He takes Clay outside the ring, throwing him into the cell several times and into the ring steps. Lesnar tries to throw the steps at Clay, but Clay moves out of the way in time. Lesnar then tries to grab Clay again but Clay fights back, throwing Lesnar into the cell and then demanding that the door is opened. The door is opened and Clay takes Lesnar outside, smashing him into the announcers table and may want to put him through it again. Clay indeed does try a Powerbomb through the table, but can't lift Lesnar, who tosses him onto the table. Lesnar then grabs the ring bell of all things, AND NAILS CLAY WITH THE BELL! Clay is busted open with this and is dazed, but chooses to climb the cell. Lesnar follows as the two battle up on top, but in a fight Lesnar has the advantage as he just pummels Clay with fists and knees. He then lifts up Clay, F5 ON TOP OF THE CELL! Lesnar goes for the cover, but the ref says that the fall will only count inside of the cell, so Lesnar decides he's going to try and put Clay through the top of the cell. He goes for a Powerbomb, but Clay won't budge as he backdrops Lesnar AND LESNAR GOES THROUGH THE TOP OF THE CELL TO THE CANVAS! The fans chant "holy shit" as Lesnar lies motionless on the canvas. Clay can't drop down through the cell though due to his size, so he climbs down the cell and goes back in the door, which takes a bit of time. He goes for the cover on Lesnar, 1-2-LESNAR KICKS OUT! How the hell did Lesnar kick out of that! Clay however is in the ascendancy now, he lifts Lesnar up and calls for the Fall of Humanity. He tries it and Lesnar tries to grab him, but is too worn down and Clay manages to hit the move! 1-2-NO, LESNAR KICK OUT AGAIN! Clay drags Lesnar to the corner and goes up top. BRODUS BOMB! 1-2-3, BRODUS CLAY WINS IT!
Winner- Brodus Clay
What a war, and Brodus Clay has one of the biggest wins of his career to date under his belt to level the series. Two weeks from tonight, these two will wrestle one more time in a Last Man Standing match to decide who the better men well and truly is. On paper critics would probably still call Lesnar the favourite, but Clay proved that he is on Lesnar's level tonight and I think it could go either way. Make sure to tune in to the final two Maximum Destruction shows, there is lots of action still to come!
