"The Bold and Contemptuous History of
Broken City Championship Wrestling"
by MadStepDad
BCCW is as ancient as the Pharaohs. It was founded by the original Gold Dust Trio to serve as a vehicle of championship unification. Every titlist of note in Mash-Up Wrestling was issued an open challenge in the original "Broken City Throwdown". In what would quickly become an institution in this new realm, John Cena emerged as the championship foundation. Boston Celtics of the '60s mixed with 2000's Patriots. Straight Dynasty.
John Cena: the man, myth & legend of New England Wrestling history
As fortunes doubled - then tripled - egos, politics & corruption charges quickly followed - and Gold Dust Trio gambled their rights away to the very man they hoped to see fold - John Cena! See "BCCW presents: Changing of the Guard" (click here). To quell any thoughts of favoritism, Cena gave up ownership of the company to a new Lawful Neutral administration, and put up his BCCW championship in an 8-Man Open Challenge to validate his claims of being a fighting champion. He did. But the results were grim, as Cena became the victim of a pro-wrestling "hit" shortly thereafter. Without its champion and main financial draw, BCCW quickly floundered and lost their national television contract (think Dixie Carter and TNA being dropped by Spike TV).
"OG Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers
Once again the company was sold, this time to an unknown investor who promised a brand relaunch. In truth, the culprits were revealed at the advent of "Broken City Throwdown 2" (a 16-man Invitational Tournament to crown a new BCCW Champion) when "OG Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers and his Diamond Dynasty declared their involvement in Cena's near-crippling attack. The tournament was originally devised as a vanity project to crown Rogers new champion, though a few of the entrants had their own ideas. What most people don't realize, is that about halfway through the 4-card presentation, the Diamond Dynasty lost their funding. The whole thing was about to go belly-up again, when a new buyer (this time a local area businessman & promoter) stepped in to pick up the scraps and shoulder the debt. The only caveat being he would install his own figurehead champion. That man was President Paul Bowser, and the champion was Danno O'Mahoney. BCCW finally had a stabilizing force who pledged to restore it to National glory. He just needed a bigger platform...
Meanwhile in California...
The exiled Gold Dust Trio picked up where they left off by founding XPW Remixed and booking with a chip on their shoulder. The allegations and scandals they tried to flee only stockpiled on the West Coast, as it became a den of depravity and King of the Death Matches. Eventually those forces would nearly split the company in two again, with East Coast offices opening up in a grand (but ultimately doomed-to-fail expansion attempt). There were even rumored conversations at the time that Paul E. Dangerously would relaunch ECW as an offshoot of "XPW East". Inside, bi-coastal forces feuded over the direction of the company and drove it further into insolvency. Eventually, after prolonged legal & financial wrangling, Gold Dust Trio Inc were able to buy out their 3rd partner and resell minority control (but at great personal & professional cost).
Robert Black & Jack Pfefer... worst of the Rogues Gallery in Wrestling History
When the time came for them to seek additional finances, they "auditioned" two potential parties of buyers. Both teams took over TV booking duties for one night, before ultimately deciding to settle things in a "Winner Take All" match at "BiB2" (click here). Those two teams were spearheaded by President Paul Bowser (hoping to purchase the TV contracts, venues, airtimes & talent of the roster) - and Robert Black (former owner of XPW Original, looking to invade Mash-Up Wrestling and pervert it with his brand of xtremizm). Unfortunately for fans of decency & good taste, the good guys lost that night - but President Bowser vowed to continue his quest to get BCCW (and in turn "Boston Wrestling") back to prominence...
Fast forward to tonight in Los Angeles. After XPW Remixed drove itself into the ground and lost their TV contracts, it was purchased for pennies on the dollar by a new investment team, much like VKM Jr once swooped in to gobble up WCW after it folded. In this case, the winner was President Paul Bowser who finally found a group of investors who shared his vision. Thus "Broken City Championship Wrestling" was finally reborn, with a title lineage & history dating back centuries. Every year on the eve of that conquest, BCCW returns to the West Coast to pay homage to this battle. A.K.A. "the scene of the crime".
BCCW became *it*. The end all / be all of fantasy-wrestling hybrids. Under President Bowser's guidance, the company grew to national and mainstream prominence again - all culminating in the annual "BiB" Supercard, now christened "Bedlam in Boston". It was another rousing success, and BCCW sought the holy grail of fantasy-wrestling booking - filling the AT&T Stadium in Dallas Texas! But with great success comes great jealousy & envy... As BCCW became the talk of fantasy-wrestling, an underground cabal of rival promoters tried to blackball the company and devour its contents. The end results of this conspiracy led to *disaster* for the enemy, who were soundly defeated in a mighty coup now known as "Event Horizon". BCCW filled up Dallas Stadium with "Night of Champions 3" and the results were so titanic they spawned a completely new network of promoters & fight-fiction authors. This collective became officially known as the "Mash-Up Wrestling" universe. But the battle for glory was far from finished... it was just beginning.
Now a pivotal part of the Mash-Up Wrestling multiverse, BCCW drew eyes from the most ravenous monopoly in the land... the WWE!! At first VKM Jr tried to buy out the mighty territory. But when that failed, he orchestrated a master plan to sabotage the company from within. Thus, the long-rumored "Illuminati of Mash-Up Wrestling" was revealed in horrifying fashion. See "WWE vs BCCW: Battleground (click here)" This led to perhaps the most harrowing struggle of BCCW's history, that only (tenuously) ended when Shane McMahon got involved for his ally President Bowser on behalf of his company. Foiled in his plots to consume BCCW, the old "VKM Jr Mafia" would resurface later to perform the deed upon WCW instead (renaming their new purchase "World Wrestling Federation"). Still the struggle continues...
The Monday Night "Wars" may have ended in Mash-Up Wrestling, but their after-effects can still be felt. Throughout the Illuminati's reign of terror in BCCW, they have controlled the Commissioners Office (akin to key seats on the Senate). Even after Authority HHH was forced to vacate the position, he was able to hand-pick his successor. Enter the infinitely-corruptible Investor MVP, who used his ill-begotten gains to launch a new "invasion" attempt... this time with International implications. Countless shots fired across borders between rival organizations, culminating in PPV showdown that BCCW actually *lost* in Canada! That was the final straw, as casualties continued to mount and the company itself faced implosion! So here we stand, at the precipice of a new World War, against an invading army from the North and their sell-out American sympathizers. BCCW Heavyweight champion (and Montreal Mafia Godfather) Yvon "Le Lion" Robert leads the charge into war, in an all-out struggle for occupation that can have only one winner. The loser will forever be "Banned in Boston!"
Two regimes, two armies, two divided Nations. Only one will survive! Will longtime Boston-area loyalist & BCCW President Paul Bowser finally beat back the Invaders at our gates?? Or will Commissioner MVP & the Montreal Mafia expand their evil empire?? The great game of Mash-Up Wrestling RISK-meets-Monopoly continues tonight in Los Angeles! Stay tuned!
