NWA Maximum: Maximum Impact 12/06/2015: Do Or Die
The show begins with “The Commissioner Of Asskicking” Steve Blackman in his office.
Blackman: “Hello NWA Maximum fans, welcome to Maximum Impact. Now you may have noticed that following Maximum Force, NWA Maximum decided to allow a number of its stars move on to pastures new. I’ve had concerned fans emailing that their favourite has gone, and I understand your concern. But trust me, there’s lots of great young talent and indeed local stars who deserve a shot, we aren’t a promotion that feels it needs to rely upon big names, after all we are the only extreme promotion in the NWA! We can make our own stars, and starting tonight with this Do or Die event we will be giving some of the best new stars from the local area and around the country a shot, plus some favourites you might not have seen for a while. Sit back and enjoy the unpredictability, let the asskicking commence!”
Azrieal vs Grim Reefer
Azrieal, who has wrestled a few times in NWA Maximum in the past and has a strong history in New Jersey, had a chance to showcase his skills against another New Jersey veteran, Grim Reefer. Reefer got a few shots in, but this was basically a showcase for Azrieal who is looking to re-estalish himself in the NWA following his previous spell in NWA Hybrid Pro. He would put Reefer away following the EG Splash
Winner- Azrieal
Dan Maff vs Kyle Matthews vs Simon Gotch vs Archadia
This is the first time Matthews and Maff have been in the same ring together since the split of The Prophecy at the end of Kyle Matthews’s NWA World Title run. And while Maff and Matthews did have some exchanges in this contest, they chose to continue their alliance by teaming up for much of this match against Gotch and Archadia, making it more of a tag match. Gotch’s old school style was a distraction for all involved, he definitely brought something different to the table, while Archadia also looked good in there with his high flying skills. Archadia was worked over by Maff and Matthews for a while, but when they started fighting over who got to make the pin, Archadia took Maff out of the match with a Hurricanrana to the floor followed by a massive Tope dive over the top. This left Gotch and Matthews to duke it out, with Gotch taking advantage and going for the Gentlemen’s Clutch. But Matthews managed to reverse, locking in the Hidaka Lock and making Gotch tap out!
Winner- Kyle Matthews
Our next match is between Paul London and Cedric Alexander. London is out second, he has shaved his beard and looks serious. He takes the mic.
London: “It has been a strange few months. I’m finally free of the influence of Bray Wyatt, but my career has suffered for it, and suffered badly. This time last year I was on the way to facing Christopher Daniels for the NWA World Heavyweight Title, now I’m once again an afterthought. Well there’s only way I can fix that, and that is to win and win and win, and make the NWA step up and notice me once more. It won’t happen overnight, but win by win I will start to get noticed again. I’m 35 now and I know my time is running out, I only have a few good years left, but I’m going to stop wasting time and bullshitting around and make an impact, finally winning some singles gold in the NWA!”
Paul London vs Cedric Alexander
London shakes hands with Alexander pre-match, showing a definite change in attitude, as the two put on a good matchup. These two actually proved to be fairly even for the most part, Alexander was perhaps the faster of the two with more youth on his side, but London was the better on the mat so the match evened itself out somewhat. Despite a few near falls from Alexander, London would eventually win this, hitting the Londons Calling to get the 3 count and an important win to begin the rebuilding of his career.
Winner- Paul London
The two shake hands post match, with London raising Alexander’s hand and applauding, a clear show of faith in the young man. Hopefully we will see Alexander back in NWA Maximum in the future.
Karl Anderson makes his way out looking furious, and he has every right to be after he lost his Heavyweight Title to Dean Ambrose in controversial circumstances at Maximum Force.
Anderson: “RANDY ORTON! Get out here and fight me right here, right now, you cost me the belt I worked so damn hard to get, and now I’m gonna take yours!”
Randy Orton doesn’t come out, but he does show up on the titantron.
Orton: “Oh Karl, I’m so sorry to hear you lost your belt, that’s too bad. But its like I said, you didn’t read the fine print on the contract saying disqualifications were in effect, so you have nobody to blame but yourself. As for putting this belt on the line against you, I have utterly no reason to do that. I’ve pinned you in the middle of that ring not once, but TWICE already, why in the hell should you get another shot at me. Its not like you have anything I want, your bald so I can’t take your hair, your NWA Maximum career isn’t worth taking and you have nothing else of value. So it looks like you’ll just have to work your way back up to the top and maybe someday you’ll be able to face an A+ player like me. Bye for now loser!”
The titantron cuts off as Anderson looks in a real rage, and isn’t going to take no for an answer. He storms backstage as the camera follows him, pushing and fighting his way past anyone in his path to get to Randy Orton’s dressing room. He busts the door down only to find a note on the mirror, saying “I’m not here tonight Karl, that was a pre-recorded message”, as he smashes the mirror out of frustration and leaves. I’d stay away from the NWA Maximum arena for a while if I was Randy Orton!
The Pistols (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) vs The Bravado Brothers (Harlem and Lance Bravado)
The Pistols wrestled in NWA Maximum only a few weeks ago and have a big history in New Jersey, but this is the NWA Maximum debut of The Bravado Brothers, one of the indy scene’s best tag teams. The fans gave The Pistols a warm welcome back, but they didn’t seem all that keen to impress them, as it was The Bravados who would prove to be the greater fan favourites in this one. The bravados showcased some fast double team moves, while The Pistols looked to take a slower approach, isolating Lance and working him over with submissions and quick tags. Lance would eventually break free and make the tag, as Harlem cleaned house on both Pistols and looked like he was going to get a big win for his team. But before he could finish this, BRIAN CAGE CHARGES TO THE RING! Cage grabs Lance and DESTROYS him with a Discus Lariat! He then grabs Harlem. WEAPON X! Taven covers Harlem, 1-2-3, The Pistols win all thanks to Brian Cage!
Winners- The Pistols
Post match Taven and Bennett high five Cage, and Taven takes the mic.
Taven: “Maybe you thought The Pistols were done in the NWA, well now we are back and better than ever. Maybe me and Brian Cage didn’t see eye to eye for a while, but we set aside our differences to get the band back together, and now we’re gonna be better than ever. NWA, your on notice, because the masters of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ wrestling are back and ready to dominate like never before!”
Taven drops the mic as The Pistols celebrate, this is a big announcement as The Pistols are not just back together, but Matt Taven has his former rival Brian Cage back on their side, a man who as part of The Pistols was one of the most dominant wrestlers in the entire NWA. Will they be just as dominant now that they have “The FN Machine” back on their side?
Bonus Match
Chuck Taylor vs Jay Lethal
A bonus matchup showcasing two of the newest signings to NWA Maximum, as home town hero Jay Lethal finally returns to New Jersey, taking on Chuck Taylor who also has a history in this state with NWA Hybrid Pro. And these two put on a great match, a real showcase of what both men can do, as they went back and forth at a fast pace and got all of their signature moves in. Taylor would come close to winning this as he almost hit the Awful Waffle, but Lethal managed to escape and nailed the Dragon Suplex, getting 3 after that move!
Winner- Jay Lethal
The two shook hands post match, and I think we will see plenty more from both men in NWA Maximum!
Lenny Leonard is backstage with Johnny Gargano.
Leonard: “Johnny Gargano, at Maximum Force we saw what many are calling the end of your alliance with Kyle Matthews, as you clearly weren’t happy with his interference in your World Title match. Is that the case and if so what is the next step in your career? “
Gargano: “You are right on one account Lenny, Maximum Force was the end of the alliance between me and Kyle. But don’t get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for Kyle and it was a mutual decision, we simply couldn’t co-exist anymore, but he’s got my back and I have his. I have my own agenda just like he has his, and you can rest assured that I have goals in this business. I want gold around my waist, but I know I need to get some big wins to make it to that point, so you can all expect to see plenty more from The Whole Shebang!”
Non-Title Match
Dean Ambrose vs Devon Storm
This was a big opportunity for the veteran Storm, a man who at 41 is not getting any younger but can still put on a great match with the right opponent. And this ended up being a wild match, as Storm tapped into his Crowbar personality and brought all sorts of weapons in, including a garbage can that he put over Ambrose and followed by smashing it with a kendo stick repeatedly! Ambrose didn’t take too kindly to this, as he grabbed the ring bell and rung Storm’s bell by smacking him in the face with it, but that only got a 2 count to the surprise of Ambrose. He followed this with some chair shots to the skull, but Storm just would not stay down and went nuts with punches. Ambrose began to look worried as Storm rallied, hitting the Eye of the Storm ON A CHAIR! He goes for the cover but Ambrose got his foot on the ropes to break up the cover. Storm went for one more, but Ambrose reversed and hat the Dirty Deeds, which finally put Storm away.
Winner- Dean Ambrose
Ambrose left with his title, taking time to flick the middle finger at Storm on his way out, but Storm would get back to his feet and get a standing ovation from the fans in attendance. That was a great performance and maybe there is one final run left from Devon Storm yet before retirement.
We are backstage in the basement of the NWA Maximum arena with Personal Demons and The Reject.
Demons: “So AJ Styles, I see you aren’t here this week, but in your OVW appearance you were happy to talk some more smack about me. Well AJ, you know what you have to do, you have to come here, get on your hands and knees and beg to put your title on the line against a real wrestler, a man who has proven his credibility time and time again. People say that I don’t wrestle enough, that I haven’t earned a title match like this, but then I turn and say what has anyone else done lately to earn such a match at Summerslam? My achievements are plain for everyone to see: I retired my own brother Matt Hardy and I retired a multi time World Champion Chris Jericho. If any wrestler thinks they are more worthy of a match at Summerslam than me, you can step up and fight me in this ring, otherwise soon the NWA World Title will fall into the hands of Personal Demons!”
Main Event, Rivalry Reborn
Samoa Joe vs Homicide
These two have been rivals and allies in the past, often swinging between the two with no warning. Both men were fan favourites, Joe because he’s Joe and Homicide because of his long history here in New Jersey and the surrounding area (in addition to his obvious skill). It was a wild matchup, a fast paced brawl with Homicide using every weapon he could find, from chairs and kendo sticks to his fists, taping them up to make his punches all that more impactful. Meanwhile Joe retaliated with his own stiff strikes, and tossed his smaller opponent around with suplexes, throwing a few submission attempts in there to. Homicide would get near falls with a Gringo Cutter and a series of Lariats, with it taking 3 of them to actually take Joe off his feet, while Joe would get near falls with a Powerslam off an irish whip and an Island Driver. Finally Homicide would go all out with a high risk move, going to the top rope and looking for a Frog Splash, but Joe caught him up top, and nailed the Muscle Buster which was enough to keep Homicide down for the 3 count.
Winner- Samoa Joe
Post match Joe got to his feet and celebrated, with Homicide getting up not looking pleased at the loss. Regardless though the two shake hands, and Homicide raises Joe’s hand in victory UNTIL LOW-KI ATTACKS FROM BEHIND! Low-Ki came out of the crowd and attacked Joe, and Homicide joins him as the fans boo, and they start beating the hell out of him. Low-Ki goes up top as Homicide puts a chair over the prone Joe. GHETTO STOMP TO JOE WITH THE CHAIR! Finally Jay Lethal runs out to make the save as Homicide and Low-Ki leave, but the two have made a massive impact with this post match assault on Joe and the damage is done. The show ends with Lethal and the referee helping out Joe as Homicide and Low-Ki celebrate and head up the ramp, the fans booing their actions. See you next week wrestling fans!
The show begins with “The Commissioner Of Asskicking” Steve Blackman in his office.
