NWA Maximum: Maximum Impact 03/07/2015
The Pistols (Matt Taven, Mike Bennett and Brian Cage) def Da Soul Touchaz (Acid Jaz, Marshe Rockett and Willie Richardson) in a good opening showcase matchup for The Pistols, as Cage would pin Jaz after the Weapon X
Paul London def Simon Gotch, Gotch looked good but in the end London managed to get the pinfall after the Londons Calling.
Dean Ambrose def Matt Tremont in a non-title match, a pure showcase match for Ambrose as he put Tremont away with a Dirty Deeds in a little under 5 minutes.
Karl Anderson has some pre match words ahead of his matchup with David Otunga.
Anderson: "So this week Randy I've got to fight your attorney. Well I don't give a damn, I'll beat him and then I'm going to take that belt from around your shoulders. For all you talk about your streak, you don't step in that ring unless you have to, that's belts not been defended in weeks and decreases in value every minute you hold it. Otunga, your going down tonight, then Orton, your next!"
Grudge Match
Karl Anderson vs David Otunga "Attorney At Law"
Otunga chose to wrestle in a suit and tie, that without even wrestling makes him awesome by default! Anderson however was not in the sort of mood to put up with the antics of a wrestling lawyer, as he took out all his pent up aggression on Randy Orton's attorney. Otunga's only salvation came thanks to a few shots from his briefcase of papers that temporarily kept Anderson down, but he just didn't have the same level of skills to keep on top of Anderson, and eventually Anderson would hit him with a Gun Stun onto his briefcase to get the 3 count.
Winner- Karl Anderson
Randy Orton makes his way to the ring, with his belt in hand, and is dressed for action.
Orton: "So Karl Anderson, you want to accuse me of being an unworthy champion, after my long unbeaten streak. That is insulting to my amazing talent, the talent on a third generation superstar can hold, and its obvious to me and to all the fans that you are jealous of my talent and my belt. So while you sit backstage and stay out of my ay, I will go ahead and issue an open challenge to anyone except you for a title match, right here, right now!"
The challenge is answered by Devon Storm, who has had mixed fortunes in NWA Maximum so far, but is a home town hero so he has every chance of getting a big win.
NWA Maximum TV Title Match
Randy Orton vs Devon Storm
A good showcase match for Orton, Storm had his chances in this one for sure, but it was largely a chance for Orton to show off all those skills that have made him such a strong champion, something that cannot be denied despite his recent change in attitude. Just as Orton was about to setup for the RKO, things took a big twist, as KARL ANDERSON CHARGED THE RING! Orton in a panic gets out of the ring, grabs his belt and rushes into the crowd as Anderson continues the pursuit, as Orton gets into his car and drives out of the arena, Anderson looking frustrated as Orton has escaped once again. Meanwhile the ref has no choice but to count out Orton and Storm gets a very unexpected victory and end Randy Orton's undefeated streak! (though I'm sure Orton will still claim to be undefeated due to never being pinned)
Winner- Devon Storm by countout
Six Man Tag Team Match
Johnny Gargano, Kyle Matthews and Chuck Taylor vs Dan Maff, Azrieal and Pinkie Sanchez
There is a growing rivalry between these two teams, which started two week ago when former Prophecy members Maff and Azrieal teamed up on Chuck Taylor, Gargano made the save for his former Revolution team mate, then Pinkie Sanchez join Maff and Azrieal's side as he has a long standing grudge with Gargano, accusing him of stealing his spot by killing the Newgen faction and forming The Revolution. Kyle Matthews saved his former tag partner Gargano as he now joins the fight against two formers members of his Prophecy.
This ended up being a great match, with Matthews and Sanchez having some fun mat exchanges early on before Gargano and Sanchez went at it, showing intensity and fire in their battle as their grudge reignites. Taylor would end up getting isolated from his corner as all three men teamed up on him constantly and was only saved by interventions from Matthews and Gargano. Finally Taylor would throw the invisible hand grenade and blow Azrieal and the others away, giving him time to make the tag to Kyle Matthews. Matthews charges at Maff and takes him down with a Slurpee Kick in the corner before he can even get in the ring, then smacks Sanchez over the head with his steel chair! He takes Azrieal out of the ring as Gargano and Taylor are in the ring with the dazed Maff and Sanchez. Taylor knocks Maff outside to the floor with a Springboard Dropkick as Gargano grabs Sanchez. HURTS DONUT! 1-2-3, big win for Gargano's team as Kyle Matthews shows his worth as an occasional ally to Gargano!
Winners- Johnny Gargano, Kyle Matthews and Chuck Taylor
Grudge Match
Jay Lethal w/Samoa Joe vs Low-Ki w/Homicide
A wild matchup once again as the continuing rivalry between these two teams heats up even more. It was a hard hitting encounter as Lethal took a vicious beating from Low-Ki, who used his wide range of kicks and strikes to beat Lethal into submission. Lethal however has a lot of heart and mounted some big and explosive fightbacks, at one point sending Low-Ki flying out of the ring with a Dragon Suplex, which may have been it if Low-Ki had remained in the ring. Homicide tried to get involved as Lethal mounted another impressive fightback, but Joe stopped him from getting involved. The distraction however allowed Low-Ki to grab a chair and throw it at Lethal, who caught it, ONLY TO EAT A CHAIR ASSISTED DROPKICK TO THE FACE! Low-Ki went for the cover, 1-2-NO! Low-Ki then went to the top and goes for the Ghetto Stomp, but Lethal moves out of the way and Low-Ki rolls though, ONLY FOR LETHAL TO HIT THE LETHAL COMBINATION! 1-2-NO! Lethal picks up Low-Ki, LETHAL INJECTION! 1-2-3, LETHAL WINS!
Winner- Jay Lethal
A big win for Jay Lethal as Joe raises his hand, but before this can end entirely we see Steve Blackman on the titantron.
Blackman: "First of all, I want to applaud all four of you for putting on some great matchups over the past few weeks. Now we've seen Low-Ki vs Jay Lethal, Samoa Joe vs Homicide and Jay Lethal vs Homicide, we've even seen a tag match involving all four of you. But we haven't seen the big one, the match you all wan to see, Samoa Joe vs Low-Ki. This isn't any ordinary match though, this is a match that belongs on the big stage, which i why I confirm that this match will take place at Summerslam!"
A massive match announcement from NWA Maximum and one that I think will be fantastic. Jay Lethal is also rumored to be involved at Summerslam, possibly in the title picture, so keep your eyes and ears open for news on that front!
Ladder Match
"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs "The Baddest Man on the Planet" Brock Lesnar
This is a massive match to say the least: these two men have never had a one on one encounter, but the stakes are very high in this one. If Lesnar wins then Styles must face Personal Demons in a World Heavyweight Title match at Summerslam, but if Styles wins it will be a non-title match. Combined with Lesnar's rematch with Samoa Joe in NWA Memphis tomorrow night, that Styles doesn't have his title belt back yet and the prospect of outside interference this is going to be a rollercoaster.
Styles from the get go realised he could not fight Lesnar head on, the height and weight difference combined with Lesnar's freakish power meant he didn't stand a chance in that department, so he took to the air and grabbed every weapon he could find, using those to start an all out assault on Lesnar. Yet despite this, he could barely get Lesnar off his feet, some chair shots wobbled him and Lesnar seemed to just swat away his aerial attempts, barring a Springboard Cross Body that finally took Lesnar down. Lesnar dominated at times, firing away with lefts and rights and knees in the corner, followed by some Suplexes.
The match would begin to turn when the ladder got involved. Lesnar initially had control of the ladder, bringing it into the ring and smacking Styles with it a few times, but in a desperation move as Lesnar prepared to charge at Styles with the ladder Styles run along the ladder as Lesnar is holding it and hits a DDT ON THE LADDER! Both men are now down on the canvas.
Styles mounts an admirable fightback with a steel chair, smashing Lesnar with it repeatedly and finally taking him off his feet with a sickening chair shot! Styles then sets up the ladder and climbs it, but Lesnar also manages to climb the ladder and the two battle back and forth. Styles smashes Lesnar's head off the ladder several times, and manages to knock him down off the ladder, sending him stumbling out of the ring FALLING OFF THE APRON THROUGH A TABLE! Styles now has a clear shot at the briefcase BUT HERE COMES PERSONAL DEMONS! He knocks the ladder down and Styles lands neck first on the top rope! Demons soaks in the boos of the fans and then calls for the Twist of Fate. But Styles reverses, STYLES CLASH! Finally Styles has some retribution, as he once again look to climb the ladder and get the belt. He's almost got his hands on the briefcase BUT LESNAR IS BACK UP! POWERBOMB OFF THE LADDER! Lesnar then picks up Styles. F5! Lesnar climbs the ladder and grabs the briefcase!
Winner- Brock Lesnar
Lesnar takes the briefcase and open it as Demons recovers, as he gives the contract inside to Demons. The NWA World Heavyweight Title in also inside and Lesnar looks at the belt he once held with a clear desire. He drops the belt at Styles' feet as Demons grabs his hand and forces him to sign the contract, making the match official for Summerslam. The question is was this favour by Brock Lesnar free of charge, or is Lesnar going to get something in return for helping out Personal Demons once again? I expect that a title shot has been promised if Demons wins the belt, but I could see Lesnar with a legit right to a title shot if styles retains as well. One thing is for sure, this is going to be an epic contest at Summerslam!
