So I have to admit, I'm feeling a tad burned out after some of my recent shows, Summerslam took a lot out of me but I stuck it out to finish up the Orton/Anderson and Personal Demons storylines which I didn't want to leave open ended. Usually at this point I'd take a few months hiatus but with the board being very quiet at the moment I want to try and stick it out some more until the inspiration comes back, so I'll likely just be posting quick results for a bit.
NWA Maximum: Maximum Impact 4/9/15
Its announced that Samoa Joe suffered a concussion at Maximum Carnage and will be out of action for the next few weeks. Dan Maff suffered a neck injury and is expected to be out for the entire calenda month of September. A potential ban on hitting moves off the apron to the floor is being considered as a result of this.
Death by Elbow (Chris Hero and JT Dunn) def Adam Page and Corey Hollis in a great albeit short opening match when they hit Hollis with a Double KO Elbow.
Bray Wyatt and Azrieal make their way to the ring. Wyatt cuts a promo saying that soon their "antichrist" will return to guide them through the darkness and towards the light of a whole new NWA. They could be referencing Kyle Matthews as Wyatt and Azrieal are both former Prophecy members, but that is just speculation.
Cody Rhodes def Arcadia in a squash following the Cross Rhodes. Post match Rhodes says his loss in the battle royal was a fluke and he will be back at the top of the card soon
Roderick Strong def Bandido Jr in a slightly more competitive match, but still largely dominated by Strong. Strong pinned him after Death by Roderick.
In a backstage interview, Shane Helms confirmed that he is interested in challenging Adrian Neville for his Junior Heavyweight Title. With his 7 reigns as champion he is the joint all time record champion with Rey Mysterio, and wants to become the undisputed greatest junior heavyweight wrestler of all time.
Jay Lethal def Rich Swann in a competitive match filled with high flying moves from Swann and technical wizardry from Lethal. Lethal hit the Lethal Combination to pin Swann. Post match Mike Bennett came out and applauded, challenging Lethal to a match next week to try and get revenge for his battle royal elimination at Maximum Carnage, which Lethal accepted.
The Unholy Union (Kyle Matthews and Johnny Gargano) def The Premier Athlete Brand (Tony Nese and Caleb Konley) in a competitive tag match, but tensions were notably high between Gargano and Matthews after what we saw earlier and their general miscommunications lately. Matthews would make Nese tap to the Hidaka Lock. It was confirmed post match that The Unholy Union will be granted a title shot at the NWA World Tag Team Titles later in the month after their non-title win over The Pistols in the tag tournament last month.
Randy Orton is backstage with his lawyer David Otunga, with Orton ranting at Otunga that he doesn't have his best intentions at heart after he was forced to compete in a cage match with Karl Anderson at Maximum Carnage. Otunga says he has a big match lined up for Orton next week, a non-title match with AJ Styles and a chance for Orton to get noticed for a potential NWA Title shot. Orton says Otunga better deliver the goods or he will be ending their association sooner rather than later.
Chris Dickinson def Matt Tremont in a wild match with multiple weapons shots from both men. Dickinson would hit Tremont with the Brain Drill to win it. Dickinson confirmed post match he will be challenging Karl Anderson for the TV Title next week in the main event, using his title shot earned in the battle royal.
In the main event, The Pistols (Michael Elgin and Brian Cage) def BEYOND (Biff Busick and Drew Gulak) in a hard hitting match filled with weapons, violence and all round chaos. Cage would pin Gulak after the Weapon X on a chair.
