RESEDA, CALIFORNIA
DECEMBER 5, 2015
RESEDA, CALIFORNIA
The show begins with the president of operations here in Ring of Fire, John Ryland, making his way to the ring looking somewhat casual. Ryland is in his late 30's, with a dark goatee and well kept hair, wearing a button up with rolled up sleeves and some dark slacks. By his side on the way to the ring, dressed in similar business casual style, is a true legend of the sport, "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, and one of the best female performers to ever lace up the boots, "The Queen of Wrestling" Sara Del Rey! The fans give the athletes a good reaction, both eliciting chants of their own, but it's Ryland who addresses the crowd first and foremost.
Ryland goes on to welcome the fans who made it out tonight, and promises them that they have an action packed and exciting show scheduled for them this evening! Ryland hands off the mic to Del Rey, who gets a nice pop. Del Rey says they've been working day and night to get this operation off the ground, and they've been preparing the talent personally to assure the best quality wrestling you can find anywhere today! The fans like the sounds of that, but then the biggest pop happens as Christopher Daniels takes the microphone. Daniels waits a moment, and then addresses the crowd, stating that all of the hard work gone into tonight would mean nothing without the fans, and that's why he wanted to make things extra special and give them something to really remember. He said tonight, he brought two of the biggest stars in the entire industry in to do battle. Two men he's fought along side, and two men he can call friends, as tonight, in the main event, these will get to witness a clash between two former World champions in AJ STYLES AND SAMOA JOE!
The crowd goes nuts for this, but then they really jump out of their seats as AJ STYLES comes from behind the curtain, his music blaring, and he hits the ring to join the three personnel standing in!
Styles takes the microphone and says he's been all over the world, but he made some of his biggest waves wrestling in front of crowds all over California, and he's going to give them one Hell of a show tonight! He says Samoa Joe has been one of his toughest opponents year and year out for most of his career, and while he's won some and lost some, tonight, he GUARANTEES a win for the fans here in Reseda! That's when Samoa Joe's music hits and the fans go nuts, but wait... where's Joe?
OH, THERE HE IS! SAMOA JOE comes from the crowd, and he's attacking AJ STYLES! The staff clear the ring and start motioning for help. Joe gets Styles in the corner and pulls him out, driving him down with the MUSCLE BUSTER! Officials and security hit the ring, but Joe just stands over Styles fallen body, not saying anything as the crowd boos. Joe proceeds to walk away, his message sent loud and clear as "ERUPTION" kicks off with a bang!
"The Elite" Ethan Elliott vs. Taylor Cross
The fans were treated to a clash of styles and ideals here to open things up, as we saw the more clean cut and cocky Elliott take on the more unkempt and dare devilish Cross. Elliott would enjoy the size and power advantage here, using it early to punish Cross as he implemented his more grounded, punishing style. Cross would show heart and determination, trying to pull the crowd into the match as he battled his way back up off of the mat and then began to execute on his high risk and flashy style. In the end, Elliott would manage to show the risk factor of Cross' high flying style, catching him in mid-air with a flapjack reversal to a springboard attack, rolling him right into the Elite Leaf (Elevated Half Crab)! Cross would show his heart even more so here, endearing himself to the fans as he used his small body to maneuver out of the hold and actually roll up Elliott for a two count! Shocked, Elliott would come back hastily, attempting a Superkick, but Cross would duck and connect with a Corkscrew Enzuigiri of his own! Staggered, Elliott would then fall victim to Cross' Crossfire (Straight Jacket Lungblower)! Cross would attempt the win there, but Elliott would manage to kick out just barely! Cross would pick up Elliott, desperate not to lose the momentum, turning him and attempting a reverse facelock, but "The Elite" would reverse that, twisting and shoving Cross away before planting a Superkick on his jaw! Cross would drop to a knee in a staggered way, but popped back up. Elliott would close the gap, grabbing Cross from behind and maybe attempting a German Suplex, but Cross would fight back, landing an elbow and then switching the momentum, rolling up Elliott in a Victory Roll position! The ref is right on the count, and that's it in a flash! Taylor Cross gets the win, and the fans give him a mild yet respectful applause for a strong effort from both men tonight.
Elliott seems very disgruntled after the match, looking like he may strike the referee, but ultimately has to head back to the back with his hung a little lower than before. Cross was just one step ahead of him on this night.
"Perfection" Chris Marshall vs. Jayson Thorne
Chris Marshall has a lot of attitude, and tried to play mind games with the bigger and more imposing Jayson Thorne, but that strategy didn't work out all too well for him. Michaels would extend the match a bit with his antics, taking powders and getting into the ropes to break up exchanges, but by the end, Thorne wasn't going to be stopped by anyone. Thorne would toss the referee to the side and get his hands on Marshall, pulling him in and bombarding him with staggering blows. After delivering a huge Reverse Powerslam that sent Marshall over-selling like a rag dool, Thorne called for the end. Thorne grabs up Marshall and gets him up on a shoulder before running and nearly sending Marshall into the buckles in a bad way, planting him with Thorne's Throne (Running Crucifix Bomb)! Thorne pulls him out by a leg and then plants him palm on his chest, getting the academic three. Thorne looked very imposing tonight, and you can bet the rest of the locker room is on notice.
"The American Saiyan" Tommy Kai & Christian Phoenix vs. "Renegade" Bryan Cade & Stephan Lawless
The antics of Tommy Kai are really the most notable thing about this spotfest, as the fans were clearly behind the "American Saiyan". With orange Gi pants and wild hair, Kai brings a lot of athleticism and heart to his DragonBall Z shtick, and it ends up being fairly effective in the end. Phoenix was able to add a good amount of impact to their end of the team, pulling off moves like a Phoenix Splash Plancha and a huge Springboard Tornado DDT at one point to nearly get the win over Bryan Cade. Cade and Lawless both looked pretty competent in the match, but most of their offense was more of the generic side and seemed to only be building up to having Kai go "SUPER SAIYAN" and then blast them both with big Kamehameha (Double Palm) strikes, followed by Phoenix delivering the Phoenix Wings (Double Underhook Gutwrench DDT) on Lawless to plant him hard and get the pinfall.
Jacob Black vs. "The Ripper" Ryan Young
Both men brought a good amount of intensity to this contest, and it was the best match of the night so far. Black is a vicious individual, with long hair covering his face, long beard and tattoos, while Young looks a bit more clean cut but is very hard hitting for his size. Black had a good 40 lbs. on "The Ripper", however, and that strength advantage ended up being key in this contest. Young likes to take his opponents down and punish them if he can, but there was no such luck in that department. Instead, Black would manage to hit big moves like a Flapjack into a Powerslam and a Swinging Backbreaker with major authority to make Young re-think trying to tangle with him. Young would manage to deliver some quicker hitting offense, like a high knee strike followed by a Shotgun Kick, and a Sliding Corner Lariat followed by a Springboard High Knee for a short two count, but Black proved to be too strong to be held down for long. Young would manage to take Black over with a Uranage, attempting to hold him down with the Anaconda Vise, but Black would escape. Young would try to keep him down, attempting to lock in his Peruvian Neck-tie, but Black would still escape, only this time he would execute an awesome Deadlift Powerbomb in the process, which he would hold onto and then transition Young into a Fireman's Carry, and then finish it up with his Black Hole Sun (Fireman's Carry Double Knee Gutbuster)! Black wasn't through yet, however, as he would wait for Young to rise to his feet and then plant him with a Discus Lariat from Hell! Black would make the cover from there, and it was all over! Black gets the victory, and he's looking like a force to be reckoned with.
"Destruction" Damien Allen & "Nightmare" Nathan Weaver w/ "Terror" Tamra Cruise vs. Ryders on the Storm: Chris Storm & Alex Ryder
Storm and Ryder are both pretty exciting prospects, who are colorful and energetic. Storm with his bleached mohawk and wild designs on his tights, and Ryder is with laser designs in his beard and bright red tights with black detailing, they make for a good team and they showed that tonight. Allen and Weaver are also a very cohesive unit, but in a different way. These two do not care about being exciting, and they don't ooze any kind of charisma; it is clear they are here to inflict punishment, and they did so effectively. Storm and Ryder would show their penchant for strong team work early, making frequent tags are imploring a more "run and gun" type offense, but things would get settled for them in a hurry thanks to a well placed kick to both Storm and Ryder as they were attempting some sort of double team attack, sending both men down to the canvas. From there, Storm would take a lot of punishment at the hands of Allen and Weaver, as Allen would pummel him in the corner with kicks, chops, and knees, and Weaver would stretch him in the middle of the ring, working over his left arm with tenacity and ill intent. In the end, Storm would make a hot tag to Ryder, who would springboard in and deliver a nice looking Ryder Kick to Weaver, but it wasn't enough. Ryder would attempt his Ryder Plex on Weaver, only to have Allen break it up with a Springboard Enzuigiri. From there, Weaver would get Ryder up into an Orange Crush, having Allen deliver a kick to the back of Ryder's head as he was on the way down, and that would do it. The pinfall came soon after, and Tamra Cruise would be celebrating with her men in center of the ring after a strong victory.
Ashley Bane vs. Justice
Ashley Bane is big and mean, and she came straight for Justice with aggression. Justice, with her blonde hair and gold sequined pants, has a lot of charisma and agility, so she was easy for the fans to get behind, especially with the dark haired, dark clothed Bane as her opponent tonight. Bane would power Justice down early and try to keep her pinned to the mat with excruciating submission holds, such as the Camel Clutch, but Justice would rally the fans behind her and make a comeback. Justice would manage to deliver a big Wheel Kick to Bane to send her out of the ring, and then followed up with a Springboard Plancha, and that would really get the fans behind her! Justice would attempt to send Bane back into the ring, but ended up getting slammed into the guard rail and sent back in herself. Bane would make her way back in and deliver a big Lariat, going for the cover, but only getting a two count! Bane would attempt a Powerbomb soon after, but Justice would reverse and deliver one of her finishing moves, the Shining Sun (Sunset Powerbomb), but would not be able to keep Bane down for the three! Justice would attempt the Shining Justice (Shining Wizard) soon after, but Bane would catch her mid-move and deliver a huge standing Spinebuster! From there, Bane would pick her up and deliver the Bane Bomb (Alabama Slam), and it's all over! Bane gets the win, but not without a fight!
Trauma vs. Vincent Void
This was a wild match that put these two men on the map, as far as the fans were concerned. The masked and dangerous Trauma, who's agility and quickness defies his large size, went head to head with the tattooed, suplex loving bruiser known as Vincent Void, and these two took it all over ringside. Void is clearly a man Hell bent on inflicting pain and utilizing violence however possible, as he would be the first to really turn this match into a street fight by bringing a steel chair into the equation. Trauma just doesn't seem to care about life or limb, and seemed to grow stronger as the pain level began to rise. Tables would be the next element to become involved, as Void would bridge the railing and the ring apron with a table and attempted to put Trauma through it with a German Suplex from the apron; that effort was reversed, however, and Void was the one who ended up through the table courtesy of a Choke Bomb! Trauma would show his true dare devil nature soon after, emerging from the rubble of the table to ascend to the top turnbuckle, and he would do a Front Flip Dive off the turnbuckle to squash Void as he was trying to pull himself together, earning a "HOLY SHIT!" chant from the very appreciative fans here in Reseda. Trauma would then pull a ladder into play, and he would set it up in the middle of the ring as Void crawled back inside the ropes. Trauma would catch Void with a Rolling Elbow, followed by a Back Suplex, and then he headed up the ladder. Void, though, would show his resilience and got back to his feet before Trauma could come off the top, hurrying to meet him and the two would exchange blows at the summit of the ladder. Trauma looked like he might be battered enough to fall after some furious fists from Void, but he would shock everyone by lashing back with a forceful headbutt to stagger Void! Trauma would grab Void and turn him on the ladder, then turned himself, grabbing Void by the arms. Things looked like they might get dangerous, and they certainly did! Trauma would pull Void up and over, and the two went crashing down to the canvas as Trauma executed the TRAUMATIZER (CRUCIFIX INTO SIT-OUT DRIVER) OFF THE LADDER, SENDING VOID FACE FIRST INTO THE MAT IS BRUTAL FASHION! Trauma was also hurt on impact, but after a moment, managed to cover the near lifeless Void and that was it. The fans were all kinds of hyped after that display, and both men deserved a lot of respect after a truly gutsy performance.
Medics would attempt to help Void from the ring, assuming he would need their assistance, but Void further showed his fortitude by shoving them away and walking to the back on his own. He looked battered, but not defeated, as his eyes burned with the desire that said he's probably going to be looking for a rematch very soon.
Nick Reiner vs. Evan "Fight!" Knight vs. Cole Miller
Cole Miller is more of the pretty boy type, but he's good to the fans and has an exciting arsenal of moves at his disposal. Evan Knight likes to fight, and brings that sort of MMA element to his matches, along with an affinity for chain wrestling, that can be lethal to opponents and a lot of fun for fans to watch. However good those two may be, though, they are both considerably less traveled and polished than Nick Reiner. Reiner is a veteran who's spent much time in Japan, and comes out looking very battle hardened. He implores a stiff and relentless style, and can beat you in a number of ways, many of which involve dropping you on your head. These three would put on a competent effort, but Miller's spotfest style seemed to muddy things up when he wasn't able to pull off the spots in parts, such as the instance where he tripped and blew a big dive to the outside; Reiner would do his best to save it, but it was a glaring error that the fans kind of shit on after already burning themselves out on the last match we saw this evening. In the end, Reiner looked like he was going to get the win over Miller, delivering a Tombstone Piledriver and floating over him a hard leg hook, only to have Evan Knight rush in from the outside and deliver a DEVASTATING Penalty Kick to Reiner's forehead, knocking him for a serious loop! Reiner would roll to the outside, avoiding being pinned out of pure instinct, as he laid on the ground in pain and confusion. Knight would mop up his handiwork soon after, though, grabbing the ailing Miller by the waist as he made it to all fours on the mat, then pulled him over with a Dead-Lift German Suplex, holding on with a bridge and getting the three count for his efforts.
Evan Knight survives and celebrates brashly in the ring, but one would have to wonder how he'd stack up to Reiner one on one after this showing. Reiner looks on from the floor and you know he's thinking the same thing.
"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe was ruthless earlier in the night, but he obviously didn't hurt Styles that badly. Styles came out with a vengeance, and these two just laid into each other with hard hit after hard hit, making the fans cringe and cheer with every turn. Joe would actually get sent to the outside with a Dropkick, which Styles followed up with a Fosbury Flop, but that didn't end up being the wisest decision on Styles' part by the end of the exchange. Joe would end up taking control on the outside and punishing Styles in a number of ways, sending him back in the ring after crashing into with a Running Boot against the guardrail. Joe would attempt to lock on his Coquina Clutch to finish the deed, but Styles would fight it off and battle back with a rights and lefts from the mounted position before attempting to lock on his Calf Killer! Joe would manage to escape, kicking Styles away, but Styles would retort with a series of strikes, ending in a Discus Lariat for a two count! Styles would call for the end, attempting a Styles Clash, but Joe would fight it off and take Styles down into an STF! Styles manages to make it to the ropes, but Joe's not done. Joe continues to land big shots before hitting the CCS Enzuigiri in the corner, and you know what he's thinking now. Joe lifts Styles on the buckles and attempts the Muscle Buster, but Styles fights him off and proceeds to hit the Asai DDT for a two count! Styles calls for the end again and tries for the Styles Clash again, but Joe escapes, attempting a Lariat, but Styles ducks it and delivers the Pele Kick! Styles proceeds to grab Joe and goes for the Bloody Sunday, but Joe escapes that and sends Styles into the referee with a shove, knocking the referee down in the process! Joe then unleashes a massive low kick, sending Styles' testicles into his throat! From there, Joe goes to the outside and grabs a chair and it looks like he's going to use on Styles as calls for him to get up, but this leads CHRISTOPHER DANIELS out to the ring, and he grabs the chair from Joe and tosses it from the ring! Joe and Daniels exchange words, before Joe shoves Daniels, leading to Daniels to kick Joe below the belt and then grab him, lifting him and delivering the Angel's Wings! Daniels then leaves the ring as Styles gets back to his feet and the referee is stirring, pulling himself back up. Styles looks out to Daniels, nodding in respect, and then grabs Joe, calling for the end. Styles lifts Joe into the Styles Clash, and he hits it! He rolls Joe and it's all over! AJ Styles gets the win!
After the match, once AJ Styles celebration ends, Samoa Joe gets on the mic and informs Christopher Daniels that this isn't over and the fans cheer, clearly looking forward to a potential match between Joe and Daniels at a future show.
