LONG BEACH CONVENTION CENTER
JANUARY 24, 2016
The show begins as we are welcomed by our commentary team for the night, Josh Mathews and CM Punk!
They do a quick run down before they are interrupted with the sounds of "The Game" by Motorhead and the fans light up, as anybody familiar with ECW or WCW in this world knows who is coming next: "The Game" Triple H! But what is he doing here? And what is he doing here with his wife, Stephanie McMahon, on his arm and John "Bradshaw" Layfield following close behind him? Trips is wearing a suit with his shaved head and short cropped beard, while Stephanie is wearing a tight, black dress. JBL is wearing a light suit with his cowboy hat on his head and a cheesy grin. Triple H hits the ring and he has a microphone in hand now as Steph and JBL look on.
"Fans here and watching around the world, let me introduce myself: I am Triple H, otherwise known as "The Game", and I am here to shake things up a little bit! Allow me to welcome everyone here and all those fans watching home to the NWA's presentation of STARRCADE!"
The fans give a pop there.
"And with that, I will announce that as of a couple of days ago, I am now the acting commander-in-chief of the National Wrestling Alliance, the new President of Operations, and tonight, I make my presence felt!"
This gets a loud reaction; mixed, but loud.
"You see, tonight, we have a great card. We have an exciting main event. We have "THE BEAST", "THE CONQUEROR", the incomparable BROCK LESNAR taking on a couple of really hopeful guys. You see, I like these guys. One going by the name of... what was it, Steph? Bull? Moose? MOOSE! Yes, Moose, and uh, Kevin Owens? Kevin Steen? I guess it depends which city you go to, but these guys, they are great."
The fans are beginning to turn on Triple H a bit now, as it's clear he's being pretty disrespectful to Lesnar's challengers.
"It's going to be a great match, and I am so glad to see things have been more exciting than ever here in the NWA, thanks to some great new upstarts taking the reins here in the Natonal Wrestling Alliance, namely Main Event Wrestling! The absolute top of the sport competing week in and week out. Headed by guys like Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, who's going to face John Cena later, the North American champion; I'm a big fan of that guy, what a talent! Great look, too, that guy is jacked! But seriously, Main Event Wrestling has done great things and you can catch them every Monday on your local cable provider. Now, we've got these other promotions stepping up and it's going to be exciting to see what they do. However, it's a little unfair, wouldn't you say, John? Oh, ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce John "Bradshaw" Layfield back here, a good friend of mine, who's going to be my General Manager of Day-to-Day Operations, kind of help me run the ship here."
The fans are now really getting pretty negative. JBL nods in agreement with what Triple H is saying.
"Yeah, I mean, we're talking essentially a two on one kind of thing here, it's really slanted against Brock Lesnar, and that's just not fair. That's why, as my first act as President, I'm going to even the field a little more. Really, just broadly make this a more interesting match. Tonight, the Triple Threat Main Event will be a no-holds barred, no-disqualification match! Anything goes! And Brock Lesnar can then use any means necessary to retain his championship in what is sure to be a great fight. What do you guys think about that, huh, isn't that a great idea?"
Steph and JBL applaud this, and the fans give a loud, half and half reaction. And then Triple H is interrupted by the sounds of "Unsettling Differences" by Blue Smock Nancy. Out to the ramp walks Kevin Steen, and the fans here approve of this, as he has a microphone in hand. Triple walks up to the ropes, resting his arms on them and is smiling.
"Triple H, seeing as how you're the new President of the NWA, I suppose I should introduce myself. My name, for the record, is Kevin Steen! And I am soon to be the new World Heavyweight champion of the NWA!"
The fans give a pretty big pop for this. Triple H is amused.
"That's nice, kid. Now, if you're done wasting my time, I've got a show to run here-"
"Oh, I'm sorry, was I wasting your time? Cause, it seemed to me you were the one wasting everybody's time coming out here, stroking your ego, and making stupid changes that don't even really matter!"
The fans cheer big for this, and Triple H is looking less amused.
"You see, the NWA does need a change, but it's a change like you, Paul, or is your name Hunter? Whatever it is, you don't impress me and your little rule change for tonight doesn't scare me. I don't give a damn about the rules, and I don't give a damn what you think about me. I am here to win the greatest prize in all of professional wrestling, and I've got two big obstacles to overcome: I've got Moose, and I've got the champ, Brock Lesnar... and I've got two fists that are going to do the job for me! So, Hunter, you can take away the rules and that's fine by me. Brock Lesnar can try to do whatever he wants, Moose can try to do whatever he wants, they can both try to keep me down, it doesn't matter. The fact is, tonight, I'm going to prove why I am "Mr. Wrestling" and become the new World. Heavyweight. Champion."
Steen drops the mic and backs out, and the fans are chanting his name. Triple H makes a motion as Steen's music plays, and he and his entourage leave, looking pretty salty. Mathews and Punk continue to digest what they just saw, and go over just how excited they are to see this main event go down tonight. While Punk appreciates the balls it took for Kevin Steen to come out and do what he just did, Punk also can't really bet against Brock Lesnar retaining tonight. It's hard to bet against "The Beast", after all.
TAG TEAM MATCH
The Racketeers (Don Corleone & Tony Valentino) [ASW] vs. The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) [ROF]
In their first match back in the NWA after a lengthy absence, the Racketeers combo of Don Corleone and Tony Valentino are seeking to get re-established against the newer teams who have risen to prominence in the NWA recently, starting with the American Wolves duo of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. The Wolves are the first to enter the arena to their entrance song "Force of Nature", but on their way down the aisle, Richards and Edwards are backjumped and attacked by Corleone and Valentino, who brawl with the Wolves all the way to the ring before Richards and Edwards battle back, whip the Racketeers to the ropes and floor them with a double dropkick on the rebound to the fans' approval.
After Corleone and Edwards head to their corners to let the match start, Valentino attempts a lariat as he gets to his feet, but Richards ducks, jumps off the second turnbuckle and flying shoulderblocks Valentino. Richards goes for a jumping neck snap on the Racketeer and makes the tag to Edwards, who quickly goes for a single-leg Boston crab. The veteran Valentino shows presence of mind as he crawls over and graps the bottom rope to force a break by Edwards, who does a double foot stomp to Valentino's back before tagging Richards back in. Richards attempts a diving leg drop from the top turnbuckle, but Valentino gets away in time and Richards lands on the mat, allowing Valentino to make the tag to Corleone. "Il Capo" comes in and drills Richards with a closed fist, then whips him to the ropes and catches him with a tilt-a-whirl suplex before going for the pin attempt. Richards kicks out after a 1-count, then gets caught in an arm grapevine as Corleone traps his right arm to attempt a submission. Richards gets close to the ropes and puts his foot on the bottom rope to make Corleone let go of the arm grapevine.
Corleone tags in Valentino, who hits Richards with a double axhandle across the back and knifehand chops him in the chest after backing him into the Racketeers' corner, then takes Richards down with a suplex out of the corner. Valentino bounces off the ropes to go for an elbow drop, but Richards rolls away and the "Hitman" hits the mat elbow-first instead. Richards gets up and dropkicks Valentino before tagging Edwards back in. Edwards grabs and twists Valentino's arm before taking him to the mat with an armdrag takedown, then rebounds off the ropes and elbow drops him. Edwards picks Valentino up, whips him to a corner and charges at him for a battering ram to the gut, but Valentino dodges the move and Edwards runs shoulder-first into the corner post. Valentino takes advantage by scooping Edwards up and hitting a shoulderbreaker to incapacitate the affected shoulder before going for a pin, which Edwards kicks out of at the 2-count. Valentino then whips Edwards to the Racketeers' corner and, with Corleone holding on to Edwards to keep him from escaping, successfully battering-rams his oppponent with a shoulder to the gut.
For the next few minutes, The Racketeers keep their advantage over Edwards and wear him down by keeping him in their corner as the wrestling gangsters tag in and out, with one using the tag rope to choke Edwards while the other kept the referee distracted. Richards tries several times to make the save for his Wolves partner, but the ref forces him to return to his corner, giving The Racketeers the chance to do further damage on Edwards. Valentino soon whips Edwards to the ropes and catches him on the rebound in his signature "Silencer" (Valentino's version of the cobra clutch). Edwards struggles in Valentino's grip and appears ready to fall victim to the Silencer as the referee checks his condition by raising Edwards' right hand, which falls once, then a second time. The ref checks a third time as he raises Edwards' hand, but Edwards surprises Valentino and raises the crowd's hopes by keeping his hand in the air. Moments later, Edwards hiptosses Valentino to the mat before falling to the canvas himself. Valentino tags in Corleone, whose attempt to attack Edwards is cut short when Edwards makes the hot tag to Richards, who delivers multiple punches to Corleone and dropkicks him to the mat, then dropkicks Valentino when he comes in as well.
The match soon degenerates into a brawl as The Racketeers and The American Wolves duke it out in the ring. Valentino and Edwards take their fight out to ringside while Corleone momentarily takes advantage with a thumb to Richards' eye, then scoops him up for a running powerslam attempt. But as Corleone makes his move, Richards drops off of the Racketeer's shoulder and pushes him to the ropes, then catches Corleone with a lung blower and goes for the 14:59 keylock. Seeing Corleone in trouble, Valentino whips Edwards into the ringside railing, then grabs a chair, runs into the ring and hits Richards across the back with the chair, preventing Corleone's submission but resulting in a loss for the Racketeers as the referee disqualifies Valentino for the chair shot on Richards.
Valentino throws the referee out of the ring in response and continues his assault on Richards, but Edwards soon recovers, rushes back in and grabs the chair Valentino brought in. Edwards takes a swing at Valentino and drills him across the back, then the brawl briefly continues before the Wolves finally clear the ring as they double-dropkick the Racketeers out to ringside. Corleone and Valentino back their way slowly up the aisle and make threats toward the Wolves while Richards and Edwards raise their fists in victory and glare at the Racketeers in return.
NWA WORLD WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP
SINGLES MATCH
Heidi Lovelace [ME] vs. Paige (c) [ME]
Paige and Lovelace would go move for move in the beginning of this match with Paige getting the one up, slapping Lovelace viciously across the face making her have to check for blood. The match would speed up before getting wrapped up again in a catch can style of match with Lovelace getting a chance to return the favor laying a brutal hand across the face of Paige. Paige would try to snap off a superkick but Lovelace would grab the foot throwing down before coming back with a leaping knee that put Paige on her ass! Paige would pull Heidi into a small package for a near fall before both women popped out of the hold and faced off in another round of going hold for hold. Paige would execute the superkick the second time and it looked to put Heidi out of the match but Lovelace wasn’t giving up as she fought back catching Paige with a tornado ddt running off the ropes planting Paige in the middle of the ring for a two count. Lovelace would try to size up Paige for the Heidi-can-rana but Paige would throw herself back avoiding the finish. Paige would try to lock up Lovelace in the PTO but Heidi would fight and claw keeping herself from being locked into a sure finisher. These ladies were putting it all on the line on the biggest stage of the NWA! Paige would drag Heidi back to the center of the ring but Lovelace would fight free creating the space to hit a step up enziguri before scouting another Heidi-can-rana but again Paige would avoid the finish slapping on the PTO immediately twisting Heidi in the worst way but Lovelace would refuse to submit. This match to crown the best female wrestler in the entire world, and Lovelace refused to give up. The damage has been done however and Paige was able to scoop up Lovelace dropping her with the bearhug DDT to finish off the match and retain her championship.
We see a highlight for both men, which shows some recent Main Event footage of the two clashing. We see clips of Steve Corino putting over his man, talking about how deadly the elbow of Chase Owens is. Will the elbow be enough to overcome the Red Arrow is the question Josh Mathews poses to CM Punk before the match begins. Punk states he always prefers a good elbow to the face over some fancy flip any day, and he picks Owens with the knock out tonight.
NWA WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
SINGLES MATCH
“The Man that Gravity Forgot” Adrian Neville [ME] vs. “Classic” Chase Owens (c) [ME] w/ Steve Corino
The frustration from the former champion was boiling over as he came at the champion from the opening bell, but the frustration left him making a lot of mistakes giving Owens the chance to control the match. Neville would eventually get a lucky spin kick in sending Owens to the outside of the ring regaining his composure, getting some advice from his corner man Corino. Neville would give chase to Owens but Chase would zig zag in and out of the ring before catching Neville with a high knee when Adrian tried to slide through the bottom rope. Chase knew that no one can compete in the air like Neville can so he’s worked hard with Corino to cut corners and stay ahead of Adrian in other ways. Chase would keep the match grounded really working a vice like headlock on Neville imposing his will on the challenger. Neville would explode with a handspring leaping kick that stunned Owens with Adrian finally getting in some offense that capped off with a huge falcons arrow! The crowd went wild as Neville ascended the top rope looking for the red arrow, but Corino would get on the apron. Neville would immediately go after Corino knocking him off the ring apron. Adrian would follow up with a springboard moonsault taking out Corino, a camera man and a few security members at ringside! Neville would start to beat the hell out of Corino taking out every bit of frustration that’s been building. Chase tried to pull off Neville but ended up getting shoved away as Adrian continued to pound away at Corino! Owens would have to blast Neville in the back of the head with a golden elbow shot just to stop Neville. Chase would try to capitalize on the hit rolling Neville into the ring for a pin attempt but Adrian would get his foot on the bottom rope to break up the pin. Chase would get frustrated now pulling up Neville going for a diamond dust but Neville would fight back giving Owens an x-factor off the second rope with authority! Both men would lay in the ring gasping for air as the ref got a long 8 count before both men got to their feet exchanging blows with one another. Neville would throw some heavy shots but ended up getting nailed with another golden elbow that would finally put the challenger away after an absolute war!
We catch the insane Briscoe Brothers at their ranch in a pre-taped vignette before their next title defense. Jay Briscoe lays into reDRagon, calling them MMA wanna-bes who are in for a real fight, a fight they can't win! Jay claims that the Briscoe brothers have beaten every damn team that's worth a damn, and reDRagon is going to be added to the list. Mark Briscoe says they better run, cause they gonna die when the Briscoes get ahold of 'em! Jay finishes by saying they're going to get the mouthpieces knocked out of their grill and learn the true meaning of MAN UP! We then see reDRagon backstage, looking none too impressed. Bobby Fish starts by saying that it's been a long journey to here, but the journey ends with a golden reward for a job done better than anyone else in the business. O'Reilly goes on to say that he knows what it means to be champion, and he knows the Briscoes do not represent the best that tag team wrestling and wrestling as a whole can be... but reDRagon does! Fish goes on to say that they have class, they have style, and they are the fiercest fighters in the entire NWA. The Briscoes can put on fronts, but the fact is, when they step into the ring tonight, Fish says they will sweat the technique and fall in defeat. O'Reilly finishes by saying the highs of championship gold are enticing, he knows, but after tonight, the Briscoes will always just be chasing the Dragon!
We go back to the ring, as introductions begin and Josh Mathews and CM Punk talk about the next match. Mathews says the styles will clash in this match, as we see the wild, brawling, high impact style of the Briscoes take on the striking, submission, and precision of reDRagon. Punk says that he likes reDRagon, but the Briscoes know what it takes to win. They've been everywhere in the world, faced a bunch of guys with similar styles to Fish and O'Reilly, and he thinks they will know what to do to get the job done tonight.
NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
TAG TEAM MATCH
reDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly) [ROF]vs. The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe) (c) [ME]
The Briscoes have been proud, fighting champions, and would bring the fight early to the highly renowned yet unproven tandem of Fish and O'Reilly early. O'Reilly has held the tag team championships on two occasions with former partner, Adam Cole, but he and Fish have yet to find any NWA championship success, so this would prove to be a huge test on the grandest of stages. reDRagon seemed confident going in, but were reeling a bit after the Briscoes would take the fight all over the outside, making for a very wild affair that gave the fans a lot to enjoy. Back in the ring, Mark would try to come off the top rope onto Bobby Fish, but Fish would manage to land a spin kick to catch him in mid-air, attempting the first pinfall of the night but barely earning a two count. Fish would then continue the assault, as the match took on the structure of a more traditional tag team match for a little while, with Fish and O'Reilly beating on Mark and punishing him, trying to isolate him from his corner.
Fish and O'Reilly are very deadly strikers, but also possess great mat submissions, and this proved to be very hard for Mark Briscoe to combat. Eventually, he would catch a reversal in his favor on O'Reilly and use a little "Redneck Kung-Fu" to catch a break before diving and tagging in his brother Jay to the roar of the crowd! Into the ring, Jay springboarded and landed a big Lariat on an in coming Bobby Fish, before dropkick O'Reilly to the outside and then diving out onto him to get a big reaction from the fans yet again! The match took on its original chaotic form from there, as the referee clearly lost track of who the legal man was or what was going on, and instead just tried to avoid getting himself injured in the wild violence. Near the end of the match we would see former World Tag Team champions The Young Bucks make their way out, and one has to wonder why! It is true that the Young Bucks and reDRagon recently faced off, and the Bucks attacked reDRagon after the match. Maybe this is time for them to exact some revenge? I think that's what they were thinking. As the referee had his back turned, threatening to disqualify Jay Briscoe on the outside for choking Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly stood in and seemed to be measuring up Mark Briscoe. The ref would actually leave the ring to try to break up the particularly violent confrontation, and that's when the Bucks would make their move.
The Young Bucks would proceed to deliver a Double Superkick to Kyle O'Reilly, nearly knocking his head off! After a few crotch chops, the Bucks would then turn and do much the same to Mark Briscoe, getting about half boos and half cheers from the crowd, but it was a loud reaction, indeed! From there, the Bucks place Mark Briscoe on top of Kyle O'Reilly and skip out. It takes about 10 seconds, but the referee sees this and slides into the ring with Jay Briscoe quickly behind him. The referee begins to count, one, two, thr-NO! Kyle O'Reilly kicks out! The Young Bucks are up the stage now, but can't believe it! Mark rolls off of him in pain, but Jay Briscoe is right there and grabs Kyle, trying to pull him into the J-Driller, perhaps, but NO! Kyle O'Reilly does a reversal, pulling him down into a Cross Armbar in desperation! The fans go apeshit now, not believing what they are seeing! Jay is hurting bad and desperately reaching for the ropes, but Bobby Fish on the outside PULLS THE BOTTOM ROPE AWAY FROM JAY! Jay has no choice, he can't get to the rope and he can't stop this hold! Jay Briscoe taps out, we have NEW CHAMPIONS! reDRagon wins the World Tag Team championships, and The Young Bucks leave in frustration.
reDRagon celebrate with their championships before Kyle O'Reilly grabs the microphone. "Listen, LISTEN UP! Briscoes, you two are competitors, real CHAMPIONS, but tonight, you met the best tag team in wrestling, the NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, REDRAGON! We will be happy to beat you again any time, any where, but Young Bucks, you undeserving, entitled little pieces of shit! You want to come kick ME IN THE FACE!? We beat you last month, and we'll glady beat you again, and show you why your time is over and our time has just begun! We see you, we end you. That's what's coming, motherfuckers..." O'Reilly drops the mic and throws the belt over his shoulder, hyped, pissed, and everything else. The adrenaline is flowing here as Josh Mathews and CM Punk discuss the match and expletive filled rant that went on after it, and what this means for the future of the NWA's tag team division.
Before the next contest, we see a pre-made video package for both men involved, including interviews with both men. First, we have a message from AJ Styles.
"John Cena, you've been a great champion. Nobody can take that away from you. But, tonight, at StarrCade, the event AJ Styles built... I will take your title away from you. They don't call me 'Phenomeal' because I ever give anything but my best. They don't call me the 'Greatest of All Time' because I let people show me up. Tonight, your great reign ends and something greater begins."
From there, we see a training montage with John Cena and then come in close with him holding his championship, looking very serious.
"AJ Styles, I'm no spring chicken. I've been in this business for a long time now, and I'm not as young as I once was. Opportunities will come and go, but I have to cease them at every chance I can. It's not often I get the chance to prove myself against one of the absolute best to ever wrestle in this business, but tonight, I do just that. As far as memorable moments in my career, defining moment in my life, facing AJ Styles at StarrCade ranks up there highly. Beating AJ Styles may just top that list, and tonight, that's exactly what I intend to do."
With that, we head back to Mathews and Punk at the commentary table, and Punk talks a little bit about his experiences with both men, stating that he believes the strength and heart of Cena will pull through tonight, but it's hard to ever count out AJ Styles. We head to the ring for this championship encounter.
NWA NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP
SINGLES MATCH
AJ Styles [ME] vs. John Cena (c) [ME]
Styles and Cena show respect early on, though the tension and competitive nature of both men is clear. As they shake hands to open the match, Styles pulls in Cena and both men stare nose to nose, exchanging words and a smile before backing off and preparing to engage in combat. From there, we were treated to a fast mat exchange that saw the skill and finesse of Styles collide with the strength and power of Cena. Cena would manage to get the match going his way, landing some big blows on Styles before dropping Styles with a sit-out hip toss for a short two count. Styles battles back, reversing a Belly-to-Back Suplex attempt and landing a series of strikes, followed by a Discus Lariat to get a two count of his own! Cena tries to avoid any more damage by heading to the outside, but Styles catches him with a dropkick through the ropes to devastating effect! From there, Styles delivers a Brainbuster onto the ring apron to really put Cena into a bad way, but back in the ring he only gets a two count on the cover. Styles continues to keep the heat on, delivering a high impact Dropkick for another two count and then delivering a Fireman's Carry Neckbreaker, getting another two thanks to Cena getting his foot on the ropes, and things just don't look good for Cena. Styles attempts a Suplex or a Brainbuster, but Cena reverses and breathes some life back into this match, landing a Blue Thunder to change the tides!
Cena proceeds to take down Styles with a clothesline, followed by another clothesline, and then hits a Diving Shoulderblock to get a two count. Cena gets the crowd going with some arm waiving and then heads up top, flying off and delivering a big Legdrop Bulldog to Styles, but once again only gets a two count! Cena tries to call for the end, and attempts to lift Styles up for the FU, but Styles reverses, elbowing himself out of it and landing behind Cena, catching him with a Pele Kick as he turns to engage him! Styles regains his composure and then rushes the corner as Cena makes his way back to his feet, backflipping off the buckles and catching Cena, delivering the Stylin' DDT and getting a two count for it as the fans cheer for the vintage Styles! Styles delivers another strike flurry and then tries for the Discus Lariat again, but this time Cena ducks it and catches him with a Backslide, rolling Styles through and then catching him with the Sunset Flip Powerbomb, holding him but only getting a two count! Both men are down and the referee is counting.
Cena is pulling himself up, and finally gets to his feet at seven. Styles quickly bursts up, and it's clear he was just biding his time, showing experience as he tries not waste any unnecessary energy in this title bout. Cena and Styles exchange blows in the center of the ring before Styles hits a spinning back kick to Cena's mid-section and then tries to run off the ropes, only to have Cena quickly follow and deliver a deliver a big back elbow, followed by a one-handed Bulldog! Cena then rises up, does his little jig, and delivers the Five Knuckle Shuffle! Cena goes for the cover, thinking maybe he's got it, but Styles still kicks out and Cena is visibly frustrated. Cena motions for Styles to get up and as Styles stumbles up, tries to get him up for the FU once more, but Styles desperately slips out of it again, this time landing behind Cena and spinning him around, kicking him and pulling him in, singaling for the Styles Clash! Styles tries to lift Cena for the Styles Clash, but Cena reverses and drops him down, reversing it into the STFU! Styles is in trouble, but he manages to fight and get the ropes for the break!
Cena has sense of urgency now, keeping the heat on Styles and blasting him with right hands. Styles, though, catches Cena with a high knee, followed by a kick and then lifts him, dropping him with a Brainbuster and floating over, hoping he's got the win, but Cena kicks out. Styles pulls up Cena and grabs him into an Abdominal Stretch position, only to twist and roll him up and into the Calf Killer! Styles has the Calf Killer locked on in the center of the ring and now it is Cena who looks like he's in a bad way. Cena, though, has never been one to quit and he fights it valiantly, yelling and fighting his way across the ring and making it to the ropes in pure desperation. Styles, though frustrated, can smell blood in the water and feels the championship within his grasp. Styles assaults Cena with kicks and chops once more before pulling at him, locking him in a front facelock, but Cena reverses and delivers a Side Belly-to-Belly Suplex to change the tide yet again! Cena is yelling and motioning to the fans, and the crowd is pumped!
Cena delivers a big clothesline, taking down Styles. Styles wobbles up, but catches another clothesline from Cena. Cena goes for a third clothesline, but Styles ducks and tries to catch him turning around with a Huracarana, but Cena muscles through it and reverses it, delivering a Sit-Out Powerbomb! Cena pops up, though, doing his "You Can't See Me" taunt as Styles writches on the mat in pain, and it's clear what he's thinking. Cena grabs Styles by the arm and yanks him back up, pulling him back up to his shoulders for a third time, and this time it's the charm. Cena manages to deliver the FU with authority, and he pops up onto Styles now, hooking the leg for the pinfall! One-two-three, it's all over! John Cena retains after a Hell of a battle!
Before the match, we get a promo showing Moose ripping through opponents right and left with his spear, footage of Kevin Steen planting opponent after opponent with his Package Piledriver, and then a lengthy reel showing Brock Lesnar dropping opponents with F-5's and making them tap to his Kimura. Mathews and Punk put this one over big, stating once again that Triple H has thrown all of the rules off the table here, and what we are about to witness should be something akin to a car crash! And then we hear the first theme, and the main event of StarrCade is on!
NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
NO DISQUALIFICATION TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
Moose [PWE] vs. Kevin Steen [ROF] vs. Brock Lesnar (c) [ME]
Three big guys here, but Steen is the little dog in this fight. Moose has admitted to being a fan of Lesnar and having great respect for him, but believes he is the better athlete and has wanted this match very bad. Kevin Steen let the world know earlier he thought he was going to win this match, but it was clear as soon as it started that this was going to be a matter of "easier said than done." The rules were thrown out the window earlier by Triple H, which seemed to be in hopes that Brock Lesnar would take advantage of that, and he sure tried. Lesnar took this match out of the ring as soon as he could and started using chairs and the ring announcer's table, anything he could to inflict damage on his opponents. Moose and Steen, though, showed these fans something huge, as Steen would deliver a Front Flip off the top turnbuckle and wipe out his opponents, and then Moose would actually run off the ropes and hit a Front Flip Suicida to actually one up Steen, getting a huge pop from this crowd!
After a long battle on the outside, Lesnar would get dazed with by a Superkick from Kevin Steen. Steen would try to rush Lesnar from there, but Lesnar would send him into the guardrail with a Overhead Belly-to-Belly Suplex, smashing Steen in a bad way! Lesnar would try to capitalize on this, but Moose would hit yet another huge move of the match, one of the biggest, DRILLING LESNAR WITH A SPEAR THROUGH THE GUARDRAIL, CRUSHING "THE BEST"! The fans would chant for "MOOSE!" now, and Moose would come up from the rubble pumping his fist... that is until Kevin Steen assaulted him with a chair to the gut, followed by a chair to the back to send him stumbling in pain back towards ringside.
Back in the ring, Steen would catch Moose with an Enzuigiri, leading Moose to sit against the buckles and then get squashed by the Cannonball, earning Steen a two count. Steen would maybe try to lift Moose for the Package Piledriver, but Moose would break free and whip Steen, catching him with a huge Pop-Up Lariat! Moose would go for the cover, but only a two count! Lesnar is back in the match now, holding a chair of his own and he smashes Moose to the back with it! Lesnar then unleashes a series of chair smashes to Moose, obviously pissed off about the earlier Spear. Lesnar then turns with the chair towards Kevin Steen, only to have Superkick the chair back into his face! Lesnar is stunned and Steen rushes him, only to have Lesnar grab him by his heads and arms and Suplex him! Moose stumbles up as Steen is down, and Lesnar and is about to give Moose a destination vacaton... to Suplex City! Lesnar grabs him by the waist and takes the 6'05", 300 pounder over with a Release German. Lesnar pops up, shaking his head and looking as Moose wriggles on the mat. Lesnar grabs him again, lifting, and slamming with him another German Suplex. Lesnar pops back up, smiling a sadistic smile, and then grabs him again and again takes him over with a Release German Suplex!
Lesnar stands after his third German to Moose, but Kevin Steen is running by him now and he double jumps up the buckles and comes off the top, catching Lesnar with a Moonsault he didn't see coming! Lesnar catches Steen's knee to the face there, and he's down and hurting! Lesnar grabs the bottom rope and is crawling, but Steen sends a low dropkick into his head, sending him into the buckles. Moose is now stirring on the mat, and he looks angry, pulling himself back up on the ropes as Steen measures up Lesnar in the corner and dives in, smashing Lesnar with the Running Cannonball! The fans are going nuts now as Steen pulls Lesnar up off of the mat. Moose is back up and he rushes, and Steen sees him out of the corner of his eye! Steen jumps out of the way and Lesnar gets smashed with yet ANOTHER SPEAR FROM MOOSE!
Lesnar is knocked down and rolls out of the ring now, having taken a lot of damage in short succession here. Steen and Moose are in the ring and Moose catches Steen with his beautiful Dropkick, taking the Quebecois down in a big way! Moose pops back up, looking worn, damaged, but determined as he pumps his fist, yelling "MOOSE! MOOSE! MOOSE!" The fans are ready as Steen gets up and Moose goes for his Spear but Steen dodges it, sending him into the turnbuckles face first! Steen picks up Moose on his shoulders in an impressive show of strength and then he sends him over... F-CINQ! STEEN'S VERSION OF THE F-5! Steen makes the cover as Lesnar tries to make his way in, having just hit Lesnar's own move on Moose! The referee is counting and it's all over!
KEVIN STEEN IS THE NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!
The streamers are flying here as Lesnar can't believe what just happened. Steen is celebrating as Lesnar watches the replay on the screen and sees Steen deliver the F-5 to Moose, putting him down for the three count. Lesnar proceeds to flip the announcer's table and throw the chairs around at ringside, clearly pissed off as he stomps to the back. Kevin Steen takes a microphone, as El Generico and a number of other wrestlers come out to congratulate him on the victory here. Steen is nearly in tears here.
"I JUST WANT TO DEDICATE THIS TO MY SON, MY REASON FOR BEING, OWEN! DADDY DID IT, SON! DADDY'S COMING HOME WITH THE BELT!"
Steen drops the mic and embraces the guys around him and then slaps the hands of the fans as we put another StarrCade into the history books.
