Yes, I already did my first show, lol. I would appreciate some feedback with it being a new promotion and all. Hopefully I'll actually stick to this idea long term this time around, I have a lot of ideas so I think it should work out better.
NWA Hybrid Pro TV 04/06/2012 Results
Welcome to the very first episode of NWA Hybrid Pro TV. Hybrid Pro aims to be a showcase for all styles of professional wrestling, from brawling to mat wrestling to lucha libre to Japanese puroresu, and much more. Let us get straight into the action with the semi final matches in our Tag Team Title Tournament.
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Tournament Semi Final
Los Maximos (Joel and Jose Maximo) vs The Jung Dragons (Jimmy Yang and Kaz Hayashi)
Here we had a battle of two highly experienced tag teams, both of whom are former WWA World Tag Team Champions as well as holding tag team gold in a number of other promotions. These two teams have also wrestled each other on a number of occasions, and that showed as they had counters for each others big moves, meaning both had to come up with some new tricks to get an advantage in this fast paced tag team matchup. Jimmy Yang even managed to escape the Spanish Fly, landing on his feet and taking both Maximos to the canvas with a Double DDT. Yang came off the top with the Yang Time on Joel as Hayashi hat a Frog Splash on Jose, and that helped The Jung Dragons advance.
Winners- The Jung Dragons
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Tournament Semi Final
Team UK (Jody Fleisch and Jonny Storm) vs The Commonwealth (Petey Williams and Drew McIntyre)
While Williams and McIntyre have good experience as single competitors, they had little experience together as a team, and that worked against them in this match where they were facing a team with experience both as tag partners and opponents. Fleisch and Storm looked crisp, hitting all their high risk moves perfectly, but Williams and McIntyre were sneaky, using every dirty trick in the book, and keeping their high flying opponents on the mat. Following a period of isolation from his partner, Storm made the tag to Fleisch who cleaned house on The Commonwealth, but this did not last long as Williams blocked a Phoenix DDT attempt, turning it into the Canadian Destroyer, and The Commonwealth advanced to face The Jung Dragons.
Winners- The Commonwealth
We cut to a dark looking area, where we see Cibernetico sitting, his head in his hands.
"All of my life, I've been an outcast. No matter what I do, nobody in this business understands me, nobody sees my potential. They've called me things: overrated, a disgrace to lucha, a disgrace to Mexico and my people. And now they call me other things: washed up, a has been, a never was. Well no more, I'm sick of trying to be something I'm not. For I am the anti-christ of professional wrestling, and it is my destiny to bring this entire sport down and rebuild it in my own image, an image where I will be accepted, and I will be the master and ruler of you all!"
Youth vs Experience
Kyle Matthews vs Carlito
Matthews is one of the true standout young talents in the wrestling world today, and he has been given the chance of a lifetime by joining NWA Hybrid Pro. He was taking on Carlito, a considerably more seasoned competitor who has travelled the world. Carlito took Matthews very lightly, mocking the young competitor at every opportunity and acting like a total jackass for the majority of this contest, which is home some people may Carlito acts in every match he competes in. He setup Matthews for the Backstabber to try and end this, but Matthews blocked it, rolled up Carlito and pinned him 1-2-3, what an upset!
Winner- Kyle Matthews
Carlito is fuming as the crowd laugh at him and chant "don't come back", the chances are Carlito has blown his chances of staying in Hybrid Pro permanently, while the rise of Kyle Matthews may very well have just begun.
Socal Showcase
Super Dragon vs Brandon Bonham
Despite both wrestlers in this match being based in South California, neither of them have crossed paths before, until today, Hybrid Pro makes first time matches like these a possibility. Super Dragon was Super Dragon, he hit very hard with some nasty punches and strikes, and at times toyed with Bonham, but Bonham was here to impress and took a lot of risks, doing everything he could to impress the Hybrid Pro higher ups. Dragon was too much for him in the end however, as he would fall to the Psycho Driver, but it was an impressive showing regardless.
Winner- Super Dragon
Dragon made belt motions around his waist, as it was announced that next week he will face the winner of the Lesnar/Nakamura Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title match for the belt on Hybrid Pro TV.
Lucha Libre
Juventud Guerrera vs Psychosis vs Aerostar
A very intriguing 3 way matchup here, as we had 2 veteran lucha competitors in Juventud Guerrera and Psychosis, and 1 youngster in Aerostar. The crowd wanted to see Juventud take on Psychosis in a matchup everyone knows will be good if both men are on their game, and at first really didn't care much for Aerostar. But by the end of this very exciting lucha style matchup, the crowd were solidly behind Aerostar who wowed the fans with his high flying style and risk taking. In comparison, Psychosis spend the majority of this match on the mat, outside of one insane suicide dive to the outside, and Juventud only went up top a few times. Aerostar wowed the fans even more by hitting an Imploding Senton Bomb on Juvi, before hitting an Imploding 450 on Psychosis to win the matchup, highly impressive stuff by the young luchador.
Winner- Aerostar
Juventud and Psychosis applauded Aerostar post match, and both raised his hand in victory, before CLOTHESLINING HIM TO THE CANVAS! Juvi hit him with the Juvi Driver, and Psychosis followed it with a Guillotine Leg Drop off the top rope. Juvi then told Aerostar to get a partner and see if he can do what he did tonight next week.
Pure Wrestling
Chad Collyer vs Charlie Haas
Collyer has described himself as "middle aged and crazy", and I don't think anyone is denying that, but Haas is older than Collyer and based on what he was doing in NWA Midwest and NWA UK is just as crazy. The other thing these two have in common is their impressive mat wrestling skills, and they put on an absolute clinic for the fans here, just 10 minutes of utterly faultless matwork and submissions, something you don't see a lot of in pro wrestling today. Collyer got Haas into the Texas Cloverleaf, but Haas made the ropes. Collyer then went for the hold a second time, but Haas used his legs to trip Collyer and lock him in the Haas of Pain, forcing him to tap out.
Winner- Charlie Haas
We cut to the office of the Commissioner of NWA Hybrid Pro, John Laurinaitis
Laurinaitis: Thank you for tuning into the show this evening. I have an announcement to make that will affect every single wrestler on the NWA Hybrid Pro roster. Now there are a lot of talented sports entertainers in the world today, and I want to see many of these individuals compete in my promotion in the future. Thats why, outside of champions, no single athelete is safe, if you fail to impress me, you will be wished all the best in your future endeavours and replaced. In addition, we will be holding regular tryouts for new superstars on each show, and if any of our established stars lose to these young competitors, they will lose their spot and the new talent will replace them. That is all, thank you for listening, and enjoy your title matches.
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Tournament Final
The Jung Dragons (Jimmy Yang and Kaz Hayashi) vs The Commonwealth (Drew McIntyre and Petey Williams)
As much as Fleisch and Storm were a challenge for The Commonwealth, The Jung Dragons were an entirely different kettle of fish for them, and their crisp double team skills were very difficult for them to come up with. The Commonwealth, must like their previous match, had to cheat as often as they could just to keep up, and really push the referee's patience at times. This time however, their luck ran out, as when Williams went for the Canadian Destroyer on Hayashi, he reversed it into the WA4, and Yang followed this up with the Yang Time to secure the victory and win The Jung Dragons the titles.
Winners- NEW NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Champions, The Jung Dragons
Post match Drew McIntyre berated Petey Williams, before hitting him with the Future Shock! He walks out shouting that he will end Williams's career next week.
Meanwhile as The Jung Dragons celebrated, Los Maximos came out and applauded, then signalled that they want the first shot at the champions. That is a match we will see next week on NWA Hybrid Pro TV.
NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title Match
"The Baddest Man on the Planet" Brock Lesnar vs Shinsuke Nakamura
This is the match everyone paid to see, a battle between two of the very best wrestlers in the world today, and a match that has happened on many occasions in the past. This one at times came off as more of an MMA matchup, as Lesnar viciously worked over the arm of Nakamura to setup for the Kimura, almost pulling Nakamura's arm out of its socket at times, while Nakamura chose to work over the head and neck of Lesnar, in order to setup for the Bona Ye. Nakamura managed to do just that and hit the Bona Ye, but Lesnar kicked out at 2 to the utter shock of Nakamura. Lesnar then nailed the F5, and Nakamura got his foot on the ropes. Lesnar pulled Nakamura back into the centre of the ring by his arm, and locked in that Kimura. Nakamura somehow held on for a full minute, escaped the hold, and hat not one, but two Bona Ye's in succession, busting Brock open, then locked in the Shining Triangle that finally forced Brock to submit.
Winner- NEW NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura
The show ends with Nakamura celebrating a huge victory, one that he really had to work for against a vicious force in Lesnar who almost ended Nakamura's career with the beating he gave him here.
Make sure to join us next week for Shinsuke Nakamura vs Super Dragon, The Jung Dragons vs Los Maximos, Drew McIntyre vs Petey Williams, Juventud Guerrera and Psychosis vs Aerostar and a partner of his choosing, plus much more!
