NWA Hybrid Pro TV 14/07/2012 Results
Welcome to a huge edition of Hybrid Pro TV. as tonight we crown the very first Sunrise Cup holder in a 4 way match. In addition we also have a huge tag team main event as Shinsuke Nakamura and John Cena face The Antichrists of Cibernetico and Jeff Hardy, plus The United Nations make their first Tag Team Title defence.
We cut to the arena plunged in darkness, as two spotlights appear in the ring, containing Cibernetico and Jeff Hardy. Cibernetico already has a microphone and has something to say.
Cibernetico: While everyone knows that I have set out steps to bring about the very downfall of this industry, and bring about my Digital Era, not every plan is set in stone. Sometimes to make a bigger step, we have to change our plans, and tonight I aim to do just that. Tonight I am going to make the next big step in my takeover of this sport, and that is to bring in the third man. And trust me when I say this, when this man joins, it will shake Hybrid Pro and the NWA to its very foundations. Allow me to call the man down to the ring who by the end of tonight, will join The Antichrists, JOHN CENA!
The fans boo and after half a minute, Cena comes out with that same cold, emotionless expression on his face. He gets into the ring and waits for Cibernetico to talk.
Cibernetico: Now John, I know that maybe your a bit reluctant to join my movement, but hear me out. You see John, I love everything that you've done recently. After the fans disrespected you, after they booed you and underestimated your skill, you have shaken off the shackles of sports entertainment. You've dropped every element from your character that defines this very era, from the goofy persona to the ring attire to the promos, you've ditched all the things that made John Cena who he is today. And now John, your focused on being the best, and John, I believe you can lead my new era as on of its top stars. Are you in John?
Cena look right through Cibernetico, so Hardy decides to offer his hand to Cena and see if he accepts. Cena grabs it, FU TO HARDY! Cibernetico then grabs Cena by the throat and chokes him, causing him to near drop the canvas, then lets him go and shoves him to the ropes. He then point towards the back, seemingly ordering Cena to leave, and he obeys? Before Cena leaves Cibernetico has one last thing to say.
Cibernetico: Of course you don't have to join right this minute John, I'm giving you until the end of tonight. All you need to do what I expect of you in the main event tonight, and you will be assured your place as the historical third member of my Digital Era.
Will Cena join? Is he already a member? We will find out later on tonight.
Takeshi Morishima vs Charlie Haas vs Kota Ibushi
A showcase match here for 3 new competitors who have just joined Hybrid Pro, it was a great opener involving 3 men with very different styles. You had Morishima who had a great deal of power, tossing the other around the ring with considerable ease. Then you had Haas with his mat prowess, being able to outwrestle the other two and put them in lots of different submissions that wore them down. And then you had Ibushi, who took to the air with a lot of impressive aerial manoeuvres, some of which we've never seen before in a Hybrid Pro ring. And in the end, Ibushi pulled off what may be seen as an upset victory, hitting the Firebird Splash on Haas to get the victory.
Winner- Kota Ibushi
Morishima was fuming post match, and as Ibushi celebrated, he grabbed him and nailed him with a huge Backdrop Driver, spiking him right on top of his head. And next week we will see Morishima wrestle one on one with Kota Ibushi!
Sheamus "Fella" vs Michael Shane
Shane put up a good fight here, but this was largely a showcase for the former World Heavyweight Champion, as he got in all of his big moves and looked very impressive in the process. Shane had to take to the air to try and keep up, but it backfired when he missed a big Diving Elbow, spelling the beginning of the end. One Brogue Kick later and Sheamus got the 3 count.
Winner- Sheamus "Fella"
Grudge Match
Newgen (Pinkie Sanchez and Rich Swann) vs The Group (Bo and Harris Rotunda)
The Newgen/Group war has been picking up steam in recent weeks, and this was a big match between two members of each group. The Rotundas have been on a tear in the tag ranks, and have already taken out two men, trying to do the same to Kyle Matthews before he was saved by Sanchez and Swann, who have also looked very impressive. Bo and Harris had the power advantage, as they gave Sanchez one hell of a double team beatdown, tossing him around with ease. Sanchez broke away though and tagged Swann, who hat some death defying aerial moves, easily handling both men at once as Sanchez recovered, and the match broke down. Sanchez took out Bo on the outside with a Moonsault, as Swann went for his Standing 450, but missed. Harris quickly ran off the ropes and nailed the Senton, and that kept Swann down for the count.
Winners- The Group
The Rotundas tried to take out Swann for good, grabbing a chair from ringside, putting it on top of Swann as Bo held it in place, and Harris setup for the Senton. Before they could hit it though, Kyle Matthews ran in for the save, being joined by Sanchez as they ran them off. There's a lot more to come from these two teams.
Tag Team Partners Handcuffed to the Ringpost
Ace Steel w/Chad Collyer vs Jimmy Yang w/Kaz Hayashi
With the constant interference that has plagued any match involving these two teams, it was decided that to avoid the same thing happening this time, Chad Collyer and Kaz Hayashi would be handcuffed to the ringpost, allowing Steel and Yang to have this match without outside interference. Its a shame it didn't work for long though, as while Steel and Yang were having a solid contest, the referee accidentally got bumped in the corner, and Steel took this opportunity to steal the key from the ref's pocket and unlock Collyer, as the two started double teaming Yang. Luckily the ringside ref had a spare key, and used it to unlock Hayashi, and then it was an even fight, but at the same time a no contest as the ref came around and saw what was going on.
Winners- No Contest
As the fight continued, John Laurinaitis came out along with official to break up the brawl, with Laurinaitis getting a microphone.
Laurinaitis: Now thats enough, this thing has gone on long enough. Its become obvious that you two teams can't co-exist in the same company, and therefore I can think of only one course of action. Next week, it will be The Jung Dragons taking on Middle Aged and Crazy in a steel cage match, and the losing team must split up forever!
What a huge announcement this is, we will finally get to find out once and for all who the better team is, without any risk of the match ending in a no contest. Which team will be staying together, and which team will be splitting up?
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match
The United Nations (Harry Smith and Wade Barrett) vs York and Matthews (Christian York and Joey Matthews)
This is the first time that Christian York and Joey Matthews have teamed up for many years, and they looked like they hadn't lost a step as they challenged The United Nations. The champs are taking advantage of the Freebird rule, effectively allowing any 2 members of their group to defend the belts, and in this case its Harry Smith who joins Wade Barrett in this. But it worked to their disadvantage here as York and Matthews had way more experience as a team, and pushed the champs hard, hitting some slick double team moves that wowed the fans. In the end however the technical skill and hard hitting style of the champs was too much for the veteran team, as Barrett hat the Wasteland on York before Smith put him in the Sharpshooter to make him tap.
Winners- The United Nations
Sunrise Cup Match
Damien Sandow vs Drew McIntyre vs Kyle Matthews vs La Sombra
4 of the finest young competitors in pro wrestling today faced off here, looking to become the very first holder of the Sunrise Cup, and with it earn a shot at the current Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura. This actually played out more like a tag match early on, as the Newgen trio of Matthews and Sombra faced off against Sandow and McIntyre, but this did not last long. Soon Sandow and McIntyre were arguing and began to brawl, but also strangely enough Sombra and Matthews had some major problems to, with Sombra shoving Matthews to the canvas and firing away with right hands, which seems totally out of character for the lucha ace. Sombra however snapped out of in and did a big Tope Con Hilo onto both Sandow and McIntyre on the outside. Sandow and Sombra brawled outside as Matthews and McIntyre battle inside the ring. McIntyre went for the Scot Drop, but Matthews slipped around the back and locked in the Octopus. McIntyre taps, Matthews wins the title shot!
Winner- Kyle Matthews
Matthews celebrates one of the biggest wins of his career, as he becomes the first ever Sunrise Cup holder, and now he has the chance of a lifetime as he faces Shinsuke Nakamura next week for the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title.
However, before Matthews can celebrate too much, out to the ring comes Sheamus "Fella", applauding Matthews's win as he now has something to say.
Sheamus: Very impressive win fella, ya beat one of my best men clean in the middle of the ring, in many ways its a shame your part of the wrong group. But regardless, your a top athelete and I respect ya fella, I hope that next week you kick Shinsuke Nakamura's ass and take his belt. You have a lot of potential, you have for many years, but one things been missing, and that is a big match on the big stage. Ya see fella, the difference between turning from a top prospect into a top star is you need to wrestle top wrestlers on the top stage, and now just impress, but beat them. And thats why I'm going to give ya an opportunity like no other. At the Great American Bash, regardless of whether that Hybrid Pro Heavyweight belt is around your waist, I want you one on one fella. If I beat ya, it'll mean that your nothing more than wasted potential, a guy who could have broken out but never could quite do it, but beat me fella, and maybe just maybe you have a change of making it to the very top and holding that big belt. What do ya say fella, want to take me on?
Matthews take the microphone.
Matthews: You bet I want to take you on, I accept the challenge Sheamus, it'll be an honour to face one of the best fighters on the planet. Maybe I can't outfight you, but I can sure as hell outwrestle you, and at the Great America Bash, I'm going to prove I'm on my way to the top by making you tap out. See you then, "fella".
What a great match this could turn out to be. Can Matthews do the unthinkable and defeat a former World Heavyweight Champion, and fulfil his potential to be a top star in our industry? Or will Sheamus win and prove that Matthews will never make it to the top?
No Disqualification Match
Shinsuke Nakamura and John Cena vs The Antichrists (Cibernetico and Jeff Hardy)
The crowd were utterly sizzling for this, and out of the 4 men, Nakamura was the only one who got a positive reaction, with Cena's again mixed and The Antichrists being booed out of the building. And despite some early brawling and the no DQ stipulation, this surprisingly played out like a regular tag match for the most part, barring the fact that The Antichrists were no able to break the rules without any kind of reprimand. Cena was the one to be isolated from his corner, taking a nasty beating from Cibernetico and Hardy, and if he is the new member they have a funny way of inducting him. Things went back in Cena's favour however when out of nowhere he managed to avoid a Swanton Bomb from Hardy and hit an FU, crawling over to Nakamura. He made the hot tag and Nakamura is in. BOMA YE TO CENA, WHAT THE HELL?!? He picks Cena up and KICKS HIM IN THE BALLS! BOMA YE AGAIN! Nakamura high fives Cibernetico, it was him all along, he's the third man that son of a bitch!!! Cibernetico and Hardy hold Cena in place who is bleeding heavily from the forehead and is out cold. HE SPITS IN CENA'S FACE! BOMA YE! Cibernetico covers, 1-2-3!
Winners- The Antichrists
The fans are nearly rioting as Nakamura has stabbed them all in the back, and for what reason? Nakamura grabs his belt from ringside, throws it to the canvas and spits on it! He's turned his back on everything he stood for, all the respect he's earned gone, and for what, to be Cibernetico's sidekick, his stooge in this Digital Era. Well Cibernetico got what he wanted, he has the belt and the champion in his ranks, but there's lots of unanswered questions. What happens to the title match at the Great American Bash? Where does John Cena go from here, after being left lying in a pool of his own blood in the middle of the ring by The Antichrists, without an ally in sight? And most importantly, why Nakamura, why?
We will hopefully have some answers next week, and hopefully next week, Kyle Matthews will wipe that smug smile off the champions face. We will see you next week folks. Shinsuke Nakamura, you can go to hell!
