OPENING SEGMENT
We go to the ringside area, where we see Dave, Mick, and Raven sitting in their usual position, ready to call some great action tonight in what is sure to be one of the best shows we've seen so far, and is definitely the most star studded! Mick says he personally can't wait to see the ladder match for the #1 contendership tonight, as he's been talking to these guys, and they say they aren't just going to be trying to grab that trophy... they want to bring the pain! Prazak goes on to say that tonight is huge, as "Rockstar" Spud from Windy City is going to be defending his World Jr. Heavyweight championship against Great Lakes' own, one of the best high fliers to ever step into the squared circle, Ricochet! Raven says he's looking forward to seeing Homicide make his debut tonight, taking on Paul London for the NWA East Coast X Division title. He says he's always loved his work, the guy just goes hard every time, and Paul London is a super tough guy as well, so it's going to be a great one.
Suddenly, we hear "Cult of Personality" hit, and here we go again... it's CM Punk! The World Heavyweight champion, sporting a suit once again, carries himself and his championship down to the ringside area, where he has a seat with the guys. Punk says that "by popular demand," he has decided to grace them again with his commentary genius. He says he knows Foley and Raven are both nearly senile, between the garbage wrestling head injuries and drug and alcohol abuse, he doesn't even know how they are functioning... and from the smell of things, he doesn't think Foley has any bowel control, but as the greatest champion of all-time, and being the best wrestler in the world, it is his duty to his alliance to keep a presence and make sure the companies under the NWA's glorious umbrella are actually putting asses in the seats. The only way that's going to happen with a rag tag bunch like this is if a real draw shows up, and he then proclaims, "You're welcome," to the rest of them for making sure people pay to get in and they have jobs.
The announce team has heard about enough of this, Raven snoring loudly before asking, "Oh, I'm sorry, were you talking?" which lead Punk to retort, "Don't worry, grandpa, I've got this, you go ahead and take a nap. I'll try to stay awake during what passes for 'wrestling' around here," and then we are off.
MATCH ONE
Teddy Hart, Amazing Red, Sonjay Dutt, Trent Barreta vs. A.C.H., Consequences Creed, Mason Andrews, Jay Lethal
This match was only given about 8 minutes, so a lot of ground had to be covered, and a lot of mayhem came of it. Lucha rules were in effect, as far as the tags were concerned; once a member of your team hit the floor, you could replace them, which happened a lot. By the end, with all of the crazy dives and outside action, things just completely broke down. Trent Barreta thought he might have the win for his team, nailing Mason Andrews with a bridging German Suplex, but ACH came off the top and delivered a high elevation Frog Splash, pulverizing his abdomen and evacuating the air from his body, which was enough the earn his team the three count, and, consequently, the victory.
MATCH TWO
Cindy Rogers & Kimber Lee vs. Jenny Rose & Melanie Cruise
Rogers and Lee have both become very nasty competitors, and both are very sound on the mat, Rogers being perhaps the best pound-for-pound female wrestler in the United States, and this proved to be a very competitive and technically sound contest. Rose and Cruise are a little more exciting, and the fans really like them, so they tried to keep the pace up and worked through all of the cheap tactics their opponents threw at them. Cruise would end up winning the match for her team, delivering a ring shaking Spinning Death Valley Bomb on Lee, which was enough to put her away for the three count.
SEGMENT
PAC is backstage with his partner for the evening, Zack Sabre, Jr., getting ready for battle tonight. PAC explains his recent actions and why he attacked Ricochet, costing him his match with Johnny Gargano. He said that he's been with the company since day one, and has never been given the respect Ricochet has received. He says he is a better competitor than Ricochet, whether it is on the mat, in a brawl, and most definitely in the air, and he's not going to stop until everybody knows it. He says it should be him in the main event tonight taking Spud's title, and he's not going to rest until he gets it!
MATCH THREE
"The Man That Gravity Forgot" PAC & Zack Sabre, Jr. (Free Agent) vs. Matt "Evan" Sydal (CPW) & AR Fox
This was a fantastic, albeit rather short contest, with a pretty basic structure, as PAC an Sabre were obviously coming out very arrogant, the British stars showing no respect to their opponents and mocking the fans, while Sydal and Fox were both over with the crowd and played in straight. Sydal was looking to make a triumphant return to the Midwest here, as this is where he cut his teeth in the industry and has since gone on to some success in California. Sydal and Fox both have very exciting styles, and a lot of grace in the ring, though they proved to be very formidible on the mat as well, as Sabre especially tried to punish them with his strong style approach. PAC and Sabre would get down right nasty near the end, Sabre using a chair on Fox on the outside and PAC, frustrated with what he thought was a slow count, throwing down the referee. This lead to RICOCHET making his way out! Ricochet springboarded in, dropkicking PAC down and then diving out onto Sabre! Ricochet then went up top and nailed the Chocolate Rain, smashing PAC into the canvas with his knees! The referee saw what was going on, but didn't give a damn, as he'd had enough of PAC and Sabre's antics, by this point. Sydal would then scale the turnbuckles and soar off the top with a magestic looking Shooting Star Press, hooking the leg and getting the three count to the fan's pleasure!
After the match, Ricochet gets on the mic and says PAC should have minded his own damn business. He says that he doesn't care what PAC thinks about who is better, if he wants a match, he can be a man and step up, not hit him from behind! He says after he beats Spud in the main event, he'll be glad to beat PAC's ass at the next taping! PAC scowls at Ricochet, as he leaves triumphantly.
MATCH FOUR
Charlie Haas (Hybrid Pro) vs. Curt Hawkins
This was a decent little contest, but not a lot of excitement. Hawkins did pull out some disrespectful moves, jawing with the crowd a bit, but this really wasn't a match to remember. Haas looked like he might be picking up the victory at one point, going for a Scoop Lift into an Inverted DDT, but Hawkins managed to pull Haas head down and knee him upward in the face to break his grip, before nailing a big jumping Lariat to change the tide. From there, Hawkins just relentlessly pounded on him, before delivering a Suicide Solution (which is what I'm calling it, as the move has a super long description and TNA's Suicide used to use it as a finisher), which earned him the count of three.
MATCH FIVE
Kota Ibushi (Hybrid Pro) vs. "The Master of the Dark Hadou" Kenny Omega (ROH)
Ibushi and Omega know each other very well, winning tag team championships together in Japan and wrestling each other many times. Ibushi is one of the best junior heavyweights in the world today, bar none, while Omega simply exudes charisma and boyish charm, while having a very impressive moveset and great agility. Ibushi's striking is superior, and that is what gave him the edge in this contest, earning the fans respect with his solid delivery. He finished the match with a Phoenix Splash, and both men shook hands afterwards as the fans gave them a nice ovation.
MATCH SIX
Chris Dickinson, "The Anarchist" Arik Cannon, "The Psycho Shooter" Drake Younger vs. "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe (CPW), Super Dragon, Gran Akuma
Drake Younger is making his Great Lakes debut here, and he couldn't have really gotten into a better match. All the way from Cali came Samoa Joe, and while he seems to have lost a step, he still put on a pretty good showing here, pulling out some of his usual tricks, but most impressively going toe-to-toe with Chris Dickinson and Arik Cannon in the middle of the ring, where these guys just ripped into each other. This match was all about the brawling, and Dragon and Akuma are really beginning to get recognized by these fans as much watch competitors, as they pushed this match into very violent territory and never backed down. In the end, Dickinson was the man to get the victory, nailing Joe with a Roundhouse Kick to the head that finally sent him down for the three.
After the match, Dickinson, Cannon, and Younger acted kind of strange. Dickinson knocked the mic out of Jeremy Borash's hand, Cannon shoving him down, and they walked to the back, never looking back.
MATCH SEVEN
Anthony Nese vs. "The New Horror" Sami Callihan (ROH)
Sami Callihan is a hard hitting guy, but tonight, he found out Anthony Nese can hit hard, too... as well as chain wrestle like a motherfucker, all the while possessing great aerial ability. Callihan was pretty angry and relentless, trying to avenge his tag team loss to Nese at the last DVD taping, but it was not to be. Nese would end the match with a flurry of strikes, followed by a tight Bridging German Suplex to get the huge pinfall victory.
Nese got on the mic after the match and stated that he thinks he should be in the conversation around here for getting a title shot. He says he doesn't care who wins the ladder match tonight, or what Jimmy Jacobs' schedule looks like, he feels he has paid his dues and he wants that title!
MATCH EIGHT
Trial Challenge Match #2
"Classic" Colt Cabana vs. "The Ripper" Paul Burchill (East Coast)
CM Punk hand picked Burchill because of his size and ability. He may not be the biggest guy around anymore, but Burchill is a true brute, and is very versatile. Cabana brought the crowd to their feet with his entrance, slapping hands and dancing a little bit, showing he was unconcerned, and that's with good reason. Once that bell sounded, Cabana was all business, working the crowd a bit, but for the most part, he put on a great technical display that had Burchill trying to retrieve the dustry remnants of his training days in the UK. Punk was flustered for a lot of the match on the commentary, before actually trying to get involved in the match. This lead to JIMMY JACOBS coming out from the back, and he and Punk came to blows on the outside! Burchill found himself distracted, which lead to Cabana locking him up into an Abdominal Stretch and falling back into a pinning predicament, which was enough to earn the three count! Cabana has done it again!
Officials poured out, as Jacobs and Punk battled on the outside and it was broken up. Punk, Cabana, and Jacobs all grabbed microphones from somewhere.
CM Punk:
Jimmy Jacobs! You insolent piece of shit! How dare you touch me! I am the World Heavyweight champion! This suit costs more than your life! You don't deserve to be in the same BUILDING as me, let alone put your HANDS on me! You're going to pay for this, you stupid midget!
Jimmy Jacobs:
Punk, you just keep telling yourself that, keeping ducking the competition, and keep being a little bitch! You know as soon as we get inside that ring, this "stupid midget" is going to kick your ass right on back to Philly, 15 lbs. lighter, cause I'm not just gonna take your pride, Punk... I'm going to be the man to take that belt!
CM Punk:
Yeah, you're a real tough guy, Jimmy, attacking a man in suit when he's not even looking! Don't break your arm pattin' yourself on the back for that one, "champ"... where's that piece of tin you call a title, anyway, or are you too ashamed to show off in the presence of a true champion?
Colt Cabana:
Ladies, ladies, let's cut the bickering. Jimmy, thanks for roughing this guy up; Punk, you're a heartless, conniving piece of crap, and you deserve everything bad that's coming to you. The fact is, Jimmy... Punk... I'm going to be the man holding that title here very shortly, so don't you boys even worry about it. I'll give you both a chance to look at it sometime after I win it, maybe have custody on the weekends, but otherwise, it's coming with me.
Punk laughs, mocking Cabana.
CM Punk:
Ha, that's a good one, Colt. That's cute. But you know what, that was only the second guy you've beaten. You still got one more to try and get through before you get beat by me and put in your righful place. Your next opponent isn't going to be as street wise as Eddie Kingston... he's not going to be as big and strong as Burchill... but he is a lot more dangerous.
In two weeks, you're going to have the displeasure of facing a man known around the word... as "The American Dragon"...
These fans erupt now, Cabana getting a big smirk on his face as they chant "DRAGON! DRAGON! DRAGON!"
CM Punk:
That's right, in two weeks, Cabana, it's going to you taking on none other than NWA East Coast's Bryan Danielson! You think you're a pretty good technical wrestler, so why not put it to the test?
The fans are still chanting wildly, and Cabana looks excited.
Colt Cabana:
Punk, I'm going to enjoy the challenge... and I'm going to overcome it. You should start practicing tapping out, because I'm taking that belt, and I'm going to snap you in half when I do it.
Big words from a confident Colt Cabana there, as the officials lead everybody away from the ringside area amidst the buzzing crowding.
MATCH NINE
NWA East Coast X Division Title
Paul London (c) vs. "The Notorious 187" Homicide
Both of these men got big ovations upon their entrance, and for good reason. Homicide really seemed to want to let lose and bring the pain, perhaps trying to take out all of his frustrations on London, after being given his walking papers by NWA East Coast, but London was game to have a barn burner. We saw chairs and ladders involved here, as well as a lot of brawling on the outside, as these guys got very violent and creative, Homicide hitting moves a Blue Thunder onto a ladder, while London would hold a chair while doing a backflip off the top, coming down and smashing Homicide hard on the outside, which seemed to do him a good bit of damage well, but the fans were eating it up. London would finish the match in amazing fashion, chants of "PLEASE DON'T DIE!" being screamed for the crowd, as he nailed a Shooting Star Press from the middle of the ladder, getting a huge pop! London would pin in academic victory, and this wasn't even the ladder match!
MATCH TEN
#1 Contendership Four-Way Ladder Match
"The Round Eye Samurai" Bobby Fish vs. "The Perfect Weapon" Delirious vs. BJ Whitmer vs. "The Contract Killer" Rocky Romero
The ladder in this match was really use as a weapon, and everybody got a taste of it. There were a few instances where it was used as something to jump off of, but the way these guys worked it, they were mostly smashing their opponents into it or smashing their opponents with it. Hard hitting is a really easy way to describe this contest, which ended up having BJ Whimer getting a lot of color and everybody getting chopped to Hell, as Whitmer and Delirious are both seriously hard choppers. Fish and Romero are both very sound in different martial arts styles, especially Muay Thai, and that caused a lot of interesting problems and match ups, as well. Whitmer and Delirious, who are tag team partners now, apparently, and are vying for the World Tag Team titles on Sunday, were trying to work together to make the odds better for both of them, but this didn't end up working out quite as well as they'd hoped, as Romero and Fish created a united front against them. Fish, who is looking to win the World Heavyweight title on Sunday, showed no reservations in putting his body on the line, and dished it out as well as he took it, really keeping an amazing pace, and even delivering a Swandive Headbutt from the ladder onto Delirious, at one point! In the end, after everyone looked broken and the carnage was near it's end, everyone down and ailing, Fish would scale the rungs and take in hand the trophy that would affirm his future as a Great Lakes title contender, winning the match and going into Great American Bash on a high note... or not.
Three men emerged from the back, wearing Richard Nixon masks and wielding chairs in hand. They proceeded to beat down everyone in the ring, the ref, Borash, everyone, as Dave Prazak yells in shock, saying something about not seeing this on the script, while Foley and Raven share in his confusion, though Raven seems very intrigued.
After the smoke has cleared, and all of the officials have poured out and police have come in to help with the cause, the men are unmasked and revealed to be Chris Dickinson, Arik Cannon, and Drake Younger! Prazak can't believe it, he doesn't know what to make of it, as Shane Douglas and Gabe Sapolsky look on, seemingly mortified and pissed off. Dickinson is smiling crazily, laughing like a mad man at Sapolsky as he is dragged out by security, Cannon and Younger both flashing toothy grins.
What is up with these guys?
MATCH ELEVEN
NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship:
"Rockstar" Spud (c) vs. Ricochet
Spud was getting really lambasted by this Detroit crowd, who were solidly behind Ricochet. Ricochet really just seemed to have an answer for everything Spud was throwing at him, and everybody in the arena could really feel this was going to be a big moment. Spud would use some low blows and eye rakes to regain the advantage, but these fans were just vicious with him, chanting homoslurs and throwing drinks at him while he was on the outside. Ricochet would use his hard kicks and exciting offense to get the crowd on their feet, and these two did do some good back and forth mat stuff, but Ricochet just came out on top of the exchanges. PAC, who is also a British wrestler, came to the aid of Spud, trying to interfere and cause Ricochet to lose again, who he obviously holds a grudge with, and Ricochet cost him a match earlier, but Ricochet fought him off and sent him into the crowd, as the fans chanted "USA! USA! USA! Finally, Ricochet would deliver a big Snapmare Driver to Spud, before pulling him to the corner and nailing the 630 SENTON! Ricochet hooked the leg and it was all over!
RICOCHET HAS WON THE WORLD JR. HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP, AND THIS CROWD IS GOING CRAZY!
After the match, Great Lakes officials, Shane Douglas, and Gabe Sapolsky came out, along with the rest of the staff and the entire locker room, as Spud slinked out of the picture, a huge party now taking place in this arena as Ricochet held his championship while on the shoulders of Colt Cabana and BJ Whitmer. Ricochet would come down and grab a mic, obviously feeling great, as Jeremy Borash came up to do an interview.
Jeremy Borash:
Ricochet, congratulations, I can barely hear myself with this great, awesome crowd here, as they obviously love you, but I think everybody wants to know what your thoughts were on the match and how it feels to be the NEW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion!
"RICOCHET!" chants echo throughout the arena.
Ricochet:
You know, I'm never really the guy to cut a promo or whatever... I just work hard, work for these fans, and just keep working everyday to be the best I can. My win tonight, it isn't for me, it's for everybody who's ever been held down... ever been told they couldn't do it... everybody who's ever been given those walking papers and told, "You're not good enough, you're of no use... go home."
Well I am home now, right here, in NWA Great Lakes. I'm so glad they gave me a chance and I told them I'd make the most of it, and now we've got this title right here! We are the greatest promotion in the world, because here... dreams can come true! You are the best fans in the world, I love you! We're going to be partying at LJ's over in Corktown, everybody come have a beer with me! I love you guys! Whoo!
The fans continue to cheer, as the roster makes their way to the back and the show comes to an end on an extemely high note.
