NWA Hybrid Pro Special: Nakamura vs Matthews 21/07/2012 Results
Welcome to a very special episode of Hybrid Pro TV, as this week we may have the biggest Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title match to date, as the turncoat Shinsuke Nakamura, who turned his back on the entire company last week in joining The Antichrists defends his belt against the winner of the Sunrise Cup, Kyle Matthews. Also on tonight's show, The Antichrists battle Charlie Haas and a mystery partner, The Jung Dragons and Middle Aged and Crazy face off in a steel cage with the losers leaving Hybrid Pro, plus much more.
Tryout Series
Michael Shane vs Silas Young
Silas Young was recently releases by Great Lakes, and while he did impress here, this match was largely just a showcase for Shane, who looked good here despite having decided to associate himself with The Group. He put Young away with the Sweet Shane Music.
Winner- Michael Shane
Paul Burchill vs John Morrison
Two brand new signings by Hybrid Pro made their debuts here, and it was a good match. Burchill showed off the brutal power he is known for, tossing Morrison around with ease, while Morrison took to the air and wowed the fans with his high flying skill, which was really the only way he could take his monstrous opponent off his feet. Burchill finally finished off Morrison with the C4 followed by a Standing Shooting Star.
Winner- Paul Burchill
Post match, Sheamus "Fella" made his way to the ring, applauding, and offered Paul Burchill a spot in The United Nations following his impressive victory. Burchill accepted, and The United Nations has just gotten a whole lot stronger.
Morrison however took exception to this, getting up in the face of Sheamus and the two almost came to blows, but then The Group ran down to the ring and attacked Sheamus and Burchill. Morrison joined in, and I guess this confirms he's with The Group. The rest of The United Nations ran out and a huge brawl ensued, which had to be broken up by officials. It seems The Group and The United Nations now have an issue building.
We get a quick update on John Cena: to reiterate what was said in the Hybrid Pro Preview a few days ago, Cena suffered a major concussion when he took the Boma Ye from Shinsuke Nakamura last week, and will be out from 4-6 weeks.
Brian Kendrick is in the ring for the next match, and Damien Sandow makes his way to the ring. He has something to say.
Sandow: "First of all, all you uneducated morons in the audience this evening need to sit down and shut up which an intellectually superior human being talks. Then again, that isn't hard in New Jersey, I would say you have the intelligence of farmyard animals, but thats an insult to the animals."
The fans are of course furious and boo the hell out of Sandow.
"And what better way to prove your stupidity than with your support of this man, Brian Kendrick. You see, Spanky as he likes to call himself is a known pot smoker, in other words he likes to use a recreational drug to help his forget about how pathetic his existence is. In other words, he is the perfect representation of everything that each and every one of you are: worthless individuals who fill themselves with substances to forget how much their lives suck. Tonight, when I defeat and embarrass Brian Kendrick, I will once and for all prove why I am intellectually superior."
Damien Sandow vs Brian Kendrick
Sandow had really underestimated Kendrick, and that was a bad idea, as Kendrick was more than a match for him on the mat and took the fight to him. Sandow once again showed those ring smarts though, taking advantage of the rules whenever he got the opportunity, stalling and getting into the head of Kendrick. Finally a frustrated Kendrick went for Sliced Bread #2, but Sandow shoved him onto the turnbuckle crotching him. He pulled him down and hat The Illumination to secure the victory.
Winner- Damien Sandow
Takeshi Morishima vs Kota Ibushi
A grudge match here as Morishima attacked Ibushi post match last week in both men's Hybrid Pro debut, and Ibushi wanted some revenge. Morishima looked as dominant as always with that hard hitting, powerful style of his, while Ibushi wowed everyone with his high risk style, taking a lot of chances as it was the only real way he was going to keep up with a man the size of Morishima. And Ibushi sensationally pulled off the upset victory, backflipping out of a Backdrop Driver and turning it into a Reverse Hurricanrana, following it up with a Corkscrew 450 for 3.
Winner- Kota Ibushi
Newgen (Pinkie Sanchez and Rich Swann) vs The United Nations (Sheamus "Fella" and Harry Smith)
Sheamus had wanted a match against someone or multiple individual from Newgen, in order to prepare him for his match with Kyle Matthews next week and indeed to try and send a message to him. Sheamus and Smith looked very impressive here, as Smith's technical skill and power complimented Sheamus's brawling style, but they didn't have this all their own way, Sanchez and Swann were smart and showed a lot of skill in keeping up with two very tough men. Sheamus however got the win by hitting the Brogue Kick on Swann.
Winners- The United Nations
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match
The United Nations (Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre) vs The Group (Bo Rotunda and Harris Rotunda)
This match had now taken on a whole new meaning following the big brawl earlier in the show between The United Nations and The Group. And while these two teams did not like each other in the slightest, it was still a title match and both had to play by the rules to avoid a disqualification, thus while it was a brawl it was under control. Both teams had roughly the same level of experience as a team, and they also had roughly the same amount of the match, with Barrett and McIntyre controlling part of the match with matwork and The Rotundas cheating and hitting hard to control their portion of the match. It was only going to be so long however before this one broke down, and towards the end it became a brawl as was expected. John Morrison ran out and got involved, and at that point it was declared a DQ win for the champions.
Winners- The United Nations by DQ
A 3 on 2 beatdown ensued on Barrett and McIntyre, but Paul Burchill ran in the for the save. Burchill grabbed both Bo and Harris. C4 TO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME, WOW! Morrison runs out of the ring to escape a 3 on 1 attack, and The United Nations have managed to get one up on The Group here. What will we see from these two factions next week?
Steel Cage Match, Losers Leave Hybrid Pro
The Jung Dragons (Jimmy Yang and Kaz Hayashi) vs Middle Aged and Crazy (Ace Steel and Chad Collyer)
These two teams have been feuding for weeks now, with their battles getting increasingly violent, in addition to Middle Aged and Crazy stealing The Jung Dragons Tag Team Titles when they were champions, and costing them those titles to The United Nations. And with pinfall and submission the only way to win this cage match as opposed to escaping the cage, there was no way out for Middle Aged and Crazy, they had to take their punishment like men. Despite the anger of The Jung Dragons, it was an evenly matched brawl, as Collyer and Steel wee accomplished brawlers and went toe to toe with their bitter rivals from bell to bell. The match ended in spectacular fashion as while Hayashi and Collyer were knocked out, Yang slammed Steel to the canvas and went to the very top of the cage. YANG TIME OFF THE TOP OF THE CAGE! 1-2-3!
Winners- The Jung Dragons
Its all over for Steel and Collyer in Hybrid Pro, they will leave after this match as per the stipulation, while The Jung Dragons can look to the future and aim to get back into the hunt for the Tag Team Titles.
Its time for The Antichrists to face off with Charlie Haas and his mystery partner. The Antichrists are out first to massive boos from the fans. Next out is John Laurinaitis with a microphone, which was unexpected.
Laurinaitis: Cibernetico, Jeff Hardy, as you know your team mate Shinsuke Nakamura injured John Cena last week, taking him out of his scheduled match tonight with you. Now I could have had someone from Hybrid Pro team up with Charlie Haas, but it wouldn't fill the gap, and I sure as hell don't want you having an easy night after you injured one of our top superstars. Thats why in order to give you the challenge of a life time I needed not just a good tag team, not even a great tag team, but The Worlds Greatest Tag Team. Thats why tonight, Charlie Hass's tag team partner will be SHELTON BENJAMIN!
The fans explode as The Worlds Greatest Tag Team come out, reunited for 1 night only. The Antichrists looked far from worried, but this is going to be a big challenge for them regardless.
The Antichrists (Cibernetico and Jeff Hardy) vs The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin)
Haas and Benjamin may not have teamed for quite some time, but they looked really good in this match, pulling off all their signature double team moves on Hardy with the same level of crispness as they always do. But in there against Cibernetico they didn't have quite the same amount of luck, Cibernetico utterly dominated, controlling both men anytime they tried to double team him and tossing them around with considerable ease. TWGTT came very close to victory by hitting their Superkick/German Suplex combo on Hardy, but Cibernetico broke it up, grabbed both men by the throat and dropped them both with the Garra Cibernetica. He pinned both simultaneously, only certifying his and The Antichrists dominance in Hybrid Pro.
Winners- The Antichrists
NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title Match
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Kyle Matthews
The fans were utterly red hot in this one, wanting to see Nakamura get killed and cheering Matthews's every move. And for the majority of this match, it did seem like Matthews had the champs number, countering all his big moves and looking way more experienced than his years suggest, he looked like he belonged in there with one of the best in the entire world. Nakamura wrestled largely the same as he did before he joined The Antichrists, but was a lot more ruthless here, hitting very hard and trying to rip Matthews's arm out of its socket. But as the match went on and Nakamura hat all of his big moves, Matthews simply wouldn't stay down, and he began to get very nervy. Nakamura went all out and nailed the Boma Ye. 1-2-NO, MATTHEWS KICKED OUT! Nakamura was looking majorly frustrated now, he didn't know what he could do to put this kid away. He decided to go for one more Boma Ye, but Matthews reverse it INTO THE HIDAKA LOCK! Nakamura is wincing in pain and he falls to the canvas, and luck was on his side as he made the ropes. Matthews is up and he's looking for the Slurpee Kick, this is over if he hits it. CIBERNETICO OUT OF NOWHERE PULLS MATTHEWS OUT OF THE RING FOR A DQ, GOD DAMMIT!
Winner- Kyle Matthews
Cibernetico has Matthews by the throat. GARRA CIBERNETICA ONTO THE STEPS! Matthews is completely out, and were it not for Cibernetico he'd be champ right now. Here come the rest of Newgen and its a 2 on 2 brawl, but Jeff Hardy runs out and now its 3 on 2, Newgen have no chance.
Here's comes LA SOMBRA! He doesn't even work for Hybrid Pro anymore and he's here to help Newgen, now the odds are even. BRILLANTE DRIVER TO SANCHEZ, WHAT THE HELL! Sombra is with The Antichrists, it's 4 on 2, and I don't understand this one at all!
BUT HERE COMES KOTA IBUSHI! Kyle Matthews is back in to, and now this is an even fight. Ibushi is with Newgen and The Antichrists get out of the ring. GOLDEN STAR PRESS '07 TO THE FLOOR BY IBUSH! He wipes out all of The Antichrists in one go, and for the first time, someone has gotten the upper hand on The Antichrists. Newgen may not be the most experienced, nor the most skilled fighters, but they are a solid unit and may very well be the best chance that Hybrid Pro has of preventing the digital era from becoming a reality. Next week on Hybrid Pro TV its The Antichrists vs Newgen in an 8 man tag team match. Goodnight folks.
