MATCH ONE
Cindy Rogers vs. Mickie Knuckles
Rogers was dealing with a tall order tonight, as she had to take on the imposing force that is Mickie Knuckles. Knuckles would survive Rogers takedown attempts with tight sprawling defense, before taking this match to the outside, where her acumen for brawling would dominate Rogers. Rogers would attack the knee of Knuckles, eventually smashing it with a chair a number of times, before taking things back into the ring and going to work on her again. Rogers would eventually secure victory, locking on an Indian Deathlock to the battered knee of Knuckles, forcing her to submit, further reinforcing the concept that once on the mat, everyone is the same size.
MATCH TWO
"The Perfect Weapon" Delirious vs. "The Technical Messiah" Alex Shelley
Delirious and Shelley dazzled the fans with this competitive contest, putting on a truly masterful technical clinic, which was only aided by both men's charismatic charms. Delirious was more violent and aggressive throughout the contest, utilizing his hard, puishing knife edged chops and elbow strikes, while Shelley's kicks were able to work in his favor a number of times, switching up the momentum and opening Delirious up for more polished mat based techniques. Delirious and Shelley both seemed very determined to secure a submission in this contest, each man working with a psychology based around their submission finishers, the Cobra Stretch and Border City Stretch, respectively, each would also pull out some other stops for near falls; Delirious hitting the Shadows Over Hell early on, as well as a Bizarro Driver, while Shelley would hit the ShellShock (which Delirious got his foot on the ropes to break up) and the WA4 for near falls. Shelley would struggle through the Cobra Stretch three times, each time managing to break it. After all was said and done, and after four attempts on his part, Shelley would finally manage to submit the wild and talented Delirious with the BCS in a spectacular match that left the fans standing in an ovation.
MATCH THREE
Spanky vs. A.C.H.
ACH is one of the most charismatic workers in all of wrestling, and the fans certainly love him for it. Spanky is a well traveled and unusual veteran, but is mat skills, speed, and grasp on psychology all make him a very dangerous competitor to be in the ring with. ACH will pull something out nearly every time he gets into a ring that you just feel like you've never seen before, so it is very hard to scout him, but Spanky seemed determined to keep him grounded, and therefore, more predictable. Spanky would try to get into his head throughout, and played the heel very well, keeping the fans behind ACH with his lowbrow tactics, while still displaying his excellent ground wrestling skills, which ACH didn't have much of an answer for, and had to try and escape at all costs. ACH woud get fired up, however, after a double clothesline knockdown, rolling himself up to his feet in unusual fashion, and then going to town on Spanky, nailing a series of strikes, followed by a high leaping elbow in the corner. Spanky seemed stunned, and ACH would hit a big Frog Splash, thinking he had the win, but only a two count! ACH would follow up with his Dragon Ball Z inspired double palm strike to the chest, which he would use as a prelude to a nice looking Fisherman's Neckbreaker over his knee, but when he attempted his Best 450 Ever from the middle turnbuckles, Spanky would evade and that would spell doom for him. Spanky would get up on the middle turnbuckle and fly off, catching him with a Swinging DDT, followed by crossface punches from the Camel Clutch position, just viciously punishing ACH, before rolling him over into a bodyscissors and applying a Cobra Clutch! With nowhere to go, and Spany having the hold cinched in hard, the referee called for the stoppage. This match is over, as Spanky continues to be on a serious roll here in Great Lakes!
MATCH FOUR
Jimmy Jacobs vs. "Classic" Colt Cabana
Cabana is coming off of a big loss at the last show, where he came so close to becoming the World Heavyweight champion, and tonight, he faces a very focused looking former Great Lakes champion in Jimmy Jacobs. Cabana was still looking to be good natured, and tried to be respectful at the start, but Jacobs wasn't having it, obviously suffering from "sour grapes" syndrome. Cabana was well enough with this, and took Jacobs down promptly, trying to embarass him with his technical skills and taunts, asking why he couldn't just play nice? Jacobs would battle back, and things would take a serious turn, as Jacobs was just relentless in his attack. These two are no strangers, as Cabana is the man Jacobs pinned to become the inaugural Great Lakes champion after CM Punk's interference, so this was really about settling a score that'd been long overdue. Jacobs and Cabana would score many near falls, each man pulling out their best moves, trying to really grind in every hold and make every pin attempt count, but there was a real level of determination by both men to not let themselves suffer another loss. Jacobs' will would win out, in the end, as he would spike Cabana with a hard DDT and roll it into his End Times guillotine choke, locking his arm tightly under Cabana's chin to cut off circulation to the coratid artery, and thus, earning him a big victory on his road to redemption.
MATCH FIVE
"Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal" Sabu vs. "The Notorious 187" Homicide
This was something of a dream match, as Sabu made his debut in Great Lakes, stepping out from behind the scenes to face the very talented and violent Homicide. Homicide would try to take Sabu down and pound on him, bu Sabu showed his ability to escape the onslaught, and would pummel Homicide in the corner with punches and kicks. Sabu would call for some chairs to be thrown into the ring, and the ringside crew would oblige. From there, things would get messy, as Sabu would use the chairs to perform his dare devil tactics, would once in the hands of Homicide, things really got violent. Homicide would bust Sabu open and then deliver a massive Blue Thunder right onto the seats of two unfolded chairs, which could have did all sorts of damage to Sabu, but only kept him down for two. These guys would brawl on the outside and into the crowd, where they'd exchange chair shots, as well as assault each other with whatever they could find, but the most notable occurence happened when Homicide caught Sabu running with an Overhead Belly-to-Belly Suplex into a row of chairs, wiping them out completely! Sabu's body has been battered and broken over the years, and the wear was evident, but he showed a lot of heart to fight and escape, not staying down after Lariats, Kimuras, or STFs, battling his way to the ropes and shrugging his shoulder, not wanting to stop, despite the pain and blood loss, which the fans were behind him the whole way. Sabu would catch Homicide with a Leg Lariat to change the pace, before hitting an Arabian Facecrusher and locking on a Camel Clutch, which Homicide would escape. Sabu would hit the Triple Jump Moonsault, but still, Homicide would continue. Finally, Sabu would deliver a Scoop Piledriver, and then call for a table in the ring. He'd set up the table and put Homicide on it, but he was taking too long. He goes up top, attempting to deliver the Arabian Skullcrusher, but Homicide managed to dodge it, saving the match for him. Homicide would pull him from the wreckage and hoist him up... COP KILLA! It was all over there, as Homicide hooked the leg and got the pinfall. After the match, Homicide would show his class, raising Sabu's hand, as Sabu accepted defeat after one hell of a dream match.
MATCH SIX
NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Title
Ricochet (c) vs. Brandon Bonham
Brandon Bonham has been making his mark as of late, picking up big wins in both Great Lakes and East Coast, and has come to try and take the prize of Ricochet. Ricochet wasn't taking Bonham lightly, came right at him, trying to lay in the punishment, but what he found was a very explosive response from Bonham, as he fired back with a plethora of enzuigiris and elbow strikes, and would set the bar within minutes by nailing a graceful Front Flip Suicide to crush Ricochet on the outside. Ricochet is never one to be outdone, however, and he would display his flipping ability through whip reversals and dives of his own, but would also show his diverse striking prowess he has developed, which punished Bonham greatly. Bonham would catch Ricochet slipping, though, dodging a tumbling elbow attempt in the corner and catching him with a Ganmenjiri in the corner, followed by a Springboard Front Flip Cutter to get a near fall. Ricochet would battle back, nailing his Backslide Driver for a two count, and then attempting to whip Bonham into the corner once more, only to get caught after a sequence of change ups with a sort of Swinging Canadian Destroyer from the corner to send the fans jumping in amazement at the impact of that move! Bonham would deliver a Double Stomp to the back of the doubled over Ricochet as he tried to make it to his feet, before attempting his Burning Hammer finisher, but Ricochet would land on his feet, nailing a high knee to the face, followed by a Release Dragon Suplex, quickly followed up with Ricochet hooking in Bonham and delivering a massive Hanging Sheer-drop Brainbuster, which put him into position for a 630 Senton, and that was it. Valiant effort from Bonham, who came very close to taking the belt, but no cigar on this occasion. Ricochet has overcome another in his quest for glory as the World Junior Heavyweight champion!
