NWA Hybrid Pro Special: Faction Warfare 31/08/2012
Hello and welcome to a very special episode of Hybrid Pro TV, Faction Warfare! Tonight two groups of rival factions will settle their differences in a series of matches, those two rivalries of course being The United Nations vs The Group, and The Antichrists vs Newgen. 4 matches will take place between The United Nations and The Group, while 5 will be taking place between The Antichrists and Newgen. Without any further ado lets get straight into it with the opening contest.
Antichrists vs Newgen, Match 1
The Antichrists (Jeff Hardy and La Sombra) vs Newgen (Rich Swann and Matt Sydal)
With 4 high fliers in the ring here this proved to be a very fast pace opening contest, indeed it was quite different from what we would see during the rest of the night. Hardy and Sombra controlled much of this match due to having more experience as a team, with Sydal having never teamed with Swann before, but Sydal and Swann seemed to have luck on their side and Sombra and Hardy had a fair bit of miscommunication going on. Indeed that miscommunication proved to be their downfall as Sombra accidentally hat a Springboard Moonsault on Hardy, taking him out of the match, then Swann took down Sombra and hat the Standing 450 to get a huge victory!
Winners- Newgen
Afterwards as Newgen celebrated, Cibernetico made his way to the ring. It looked like he was here to attack Swann and Sydal, but instead, HE GRABS HARDY AND SOMBRA! DOUBLE GARRA CIBERNETCIA! Cibernetico then says that they are both gone from The Antichrists, he is tired of their failures and they've let him down for the last time. Wow!
The United Nations vs The Group, Match 1
Harry Smith vs John Morrison
These two proved to have surprisingly good chemistry in this contest, as Morrison's high flying skills merged well with Smith's more power, ground based game. While Morrison was way too cocky here and showed off with high flying skill, Smith worked over his back and wore him down in order to setup for the Sharpshooter. Smith almost did get that very move, but Morrison shoved him off and snuck in a Low Blow which the ref somehow didn't see! Morrison then quickly pulled Smith into position and hat the Starship Pain, and got a steal of a victory.
Winner- John Morrison
Antichrists vs Newgen, Match 2
Jack Swagger vs Pinkie Sanchez
Swagger and Sanchez are former team mates from the original version of The Revolution, but neither joined the NWA version of the group. Swagger then joined The Antichrists to get revenge on Sanchez for the disrespectful things he said about the team when he reformed Newgen. This one was not pretty, it was a brawl and there was no sign of the matwork of wrestling skill you'd expect from these two, they had a grudge to settle and that was all they were focused on doing. And despite Sanchez's best efforts, Swagger looked like a man possessed and had that bit more here, finally putting down Sanchez with a huge Doctor Bomb and pinning him clean in the middle of the ring 1-2-3! Its 1-1 between the two factions.
Winner- Jack Swagger
The United Nations vs The Group, Match 2
Sheamus "Fella" vs James Storm
Two of the biggest stars from these two warring faction did battle here, one a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, another a man hoping to one day challenge for that very title. And it was a great back and forth contest, a stiff brawl but at the same time there was some wrestling here so it wasn't an all out street fight, and even a certain level of respect between the two which surprised me I have to say. Sheamus got the win to even the score between The United Nations and The Group, hitting the Brogue Kick to score the pinfall
Winner- Sheamus "Fella"
Post match Sheamus offered Storm a Guinness and a handshake, and to my surprise he actually accepted it! Damien Sandow then came out and berated Storm for his actions, with Storm leaving on his own. What is going on with The Group?
Antichrists vs Newgen, Match 3
The Antichrists (Jon Moxley and Shinsuke Nakamura) vs Johnny Gargano and Kota Ibushi
Moxley and Nakamura have been close allies since Moxley joined The Antichrists, with both being users of the same finishing move, the Boma Ye, indeed its telling that Nakamura carries Moxley's East Coast belt within the trashcan of titles that the team possesses. Gargano and Ibushi have barely teamed and aren't even real allies, so didn't have the tag chemistry of their opponents, and did suffer as a result, Nakamura and Moxley dominated this matchup at times. Ibushi was on the end of a massive beating, and was isolated for near 10 minutes from his corner, before finally making the tag to Gargano, a man on fire at the moment who got his team back into this, taking his two opponents down single handedly. Ibushi started taking to the air and managed to take out Moxley on the outside with a massive Springboard 450! Gargano then grabbed Nakamura in the ring, and nailed the Hurts Donut, 1-2-3!
Winners- Johnny Gargano and Kota Ibushi
Newgen are now 2-1 up on The Antichrists, and if John Cena can beat Hirooki Goto in the next match it'll be all over for The Antichrists in this series.
Cibernetico is out again and is fuming at Nakamura, yet notably has no issue with Moxley. He looks like he's ready to attack Nakamura, but Moxley stops him, pointing the finger gun right at his head and saying "If Nakamura goes, I go". Cibernetico looks furious, but clearly values Moxley a lot higher than he does the rest of his faction, so decides against kicking Nakamura out.
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match, The United Nations vs The Group, Match 3
The United Nations (Drew McIntyre and Wade Barrett) vs The Group (Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton)
Orton joined The Group by attacking Bo Dallas during his match with his brother Bray Wyatt, and as a result Dallas is gone, now they have a shot to take the lead in the United Nations/Group series as well as the Tag Team Titles. And this match was a real wild one, lots of brawling here, not to mention a sick side shown by both Orton and Wyatt. But things were to take a quite a shocking turn in this one, one I think nobody expected. Wyatt and Orton had a minor miscommunication when as Orton held McIntyre and Wyatt went for a charge, McIntyre moved and Wyatt nearly hat Orton. Orton for whatever reason took exception to this, AND HAT WYATT WITH THE RKO! He leaves on his own as a bemused McIntyre covers Wyatt and pins him 1-2-3. I guess you can't trust a viper!
Winners- The United Nations
So now Damien Sandow has to beat Paul Burchill to keep this series alive, and if it goes to a draw who knows what will happen next!
Antichrists vs Newgen, Match 4
Hirooki Goto vs John Cena
Hirooki Goto had a lot to lose here, not only would The Antichrists lose the series if he lost, but he would also lose his contendership to the RSR Grand Championship. Cena also wanted a win badly here in his return match, even if she showed utterly zero emotion, he has shedded every aspect of the old John Cena and is now a ruthlessly cold wrestler focused on nothing more than beating the hell out of whoever he faces. The match was fairly back and forth, and very hard hitting, but in what some may call an upset it was Goto who came out on top with a clean pinfall victory over Cena, hitting Go to Heaven to beat Cena. Its 2 each in the Antichrists/Newgen series.
Winner- Hirooki Goto
Cena shook his head in disappointment as he left, though showed no true emotion on his face. As much as Cena's cold persona has helped his focus in the ring, it hasn't helped his win/loss record, he still isn't getting wins and needs to step it up regardless of who wins this series.
The United Nations vs The Group, Match 4
No Disqualification Match
Paul Burchill vs Damien Sandow
Burchill and Sandow's rivalry has been building a fair bit over the past few weeks, and has been at the centre of the Group/United Nations war. Its been clear that Sandow has been dodging Burchill, and now he has no way out, he can't get counted out, he can't get DQ'ed and he has no allies at ringside to help. Burchill took great pleasure in dishing out a beating to Sandow, beating and bloodying him, yet Sandow showed his smarts and got his share in to, busting open Burchill in the process in what was a bitter, bloody brawl of a match. Sandow also had a plan of sorts, that being for John Morrison and Randy Orton to interfere on his behalf, however Orton had other ideas. He stops Morrison from getting involved by giving him the RKO on the ramp! Then he starts shouting at Sandow, and the distraction in turn allows Burchill to grab Sandow and nail the C4! The win is now academic and Burchill wins the series 3-1 for The United Nations!
Winner- Paul Burchill
Burchill celebrates as he has managed to win the match and the series for The United Nations, albeit it has all come after The Group effectively imploded, all brought about by Orton! Orton offers Burchill a handshake in the ring, and Burchill accepts. RKO TO BURCHILL! Orton gets a sadistic smile on his face and leaves, well I guess nobody can trust a viper!
Antichrists vs Newgen, Match 5
NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title Match
Cibernetico vs Kyle Matthews
Matthews has been begging for a match with Cibernetico for the belt ever since Cibernetico effectively screwed him out of it against Shinsuke Nakamura, and at last he had his chance. Cibernetico was not in a good mood, and as much as Matthews played his part, Cibernetico spent much of this match just completely demolishing him with that power of his, toying with him as if he was a cat with a mouse. However out of nowhere, SLURPEE KICK BY MATTHEWS! CIBERNETICO KICKS OUT AT 1! He's back up on his feet already, and he grabs Matthews by the throat with an utter crazed look in his eyes, this doesn't look good. Garra Cibernetica OVER THE TOP ROPE TO THE FLOOR! Thats it, it was a good effort my Matthews, but there was no way he was ever going to defeat Cibernetico when he's wrestling like this. Officials check on him as Cibernetico laugh sadistically and raises his arms.
But here comes Johnny Gargano from the crowd with a chair! CHAIRSHOT TO CIBERNETICO, BUT HE'S UP INSTANTLY! SECOND CHAIR SHOT! Cibernetico is busted open huge, blood is utterly pouring out of his head! HURTS DONUT ON THE CHAIR! Gargano escapes the ring and brawls with Jon Moxley who's run out to the ring, meanwhile Jack Swagger is on the ramp stopping anyone else coming out, what the hell is going on? Matthews is somehow getting back into the ring, and brawl over to cover Cibernetico. 1-2-NO, HE KICKS OUT! How do you beat this man, is he even human?
Matthews struggles to his feet, but somehow despite the blood loss Cibernetico is up first. He goes for the Garra Cibernetica again, but Matthews escapes around the back. HIDAKA LOCK! Cibernetico throws him off and tosses Matthews down to the canvas. He picks him up and shoves him into the ropes, and looks to catch Matthews throat first as he runs back, but Matthews slips away again. HIDAKA LOCK AGAIN! Cibernetico can't escape this time, and he's down to the canvas, the blood loss is causing him to lose consciousness but he refuses to tap. The ref raises his arm once, twice, three times. HE CALLS FOR THE BELL, KYLE MATTHEWS WINS THE BELT AND THE SERIES FOR NEWGEN!
Winner- NEW Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion, Kyle Matthews
Moxley helps Cibernetico to the back, as Matthews struggles to his feet and starts to celebrate. Johnny Gargano however grabs the belt from the trash can before it can be taken away, and gets into the ring, teasing hitting Matthews with it! However he hands the belt to Matthews and raises his hand, telling him to enjoy his victory because that belt will be his soon enough. Gargano leaves with Jack Swagger which is shocking, effectively meaning he has resigned from The Antichrists to, overall its not been a great night for The Antichrists or Cibernetico. The show ends with Matthews holding up the belt as the fans chant his name and cheer!
