Windy City TV: Fight 'Fright' Night 31 (31/10/14) Where: Battendorf, Iowa
When: Friday 31st October, 2014
Attendance: 1,324
*Show starts with with recaps of the NWA Pay-Per-View
Fall Brawl via screen still's with
Rene Young doing the voiceover.*
Paige regaining the Windy City Womens Title from April Davids in the first blood match via rather fortunate means, as Paige's own blood smeared on April's face causes the champion to lose her belt in a highly controversial call from the referee. Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles, two of the greats of our time, go toe-to-toe in a fantastic 25-minute match. A match that was spoiled by one Chris Jericho.
John Cena managing to overcome everything that Mark Jindrak threw at him, showing huge strength in catching the champ mid-Air-Jindrak and jerk pressing him up for a quick FU as Cena wins his first major championship in the NWA! A remarkable turnaround for the new NWA North American Champion who had his title winning celebration spoiled by the chair weidling attack of Bully Ray!
Finally, in truly one for the ages, in a classic bout, Samoa Joe successfully defended the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against an injured, but very spirited, Chris Masters.*The screen still's close and we head straight to the ring where we have Windy City bigwig, the Chief of Staff
Triple H stood in the ring in a dark blue-piece suit with mike in hand and a serious, almost sullen look on his face.
Trips begins by saying he tips his hat to both men, both Joe and Chris put forth a tremendous battle for the Big Gold Belt at Fall Brawl and it was a match for the ages, one that both men will be proud of when they look back at their careers....But he's heard some bad news from the doctors. Bad news for Windy City fans, in respects to the health of the reigning Windy City Champion "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters.
The big nosed one says unfortunately, using the powers bestowed upon him by The Powers That Be here in Windy City Pro Wrestling - he will have to do what nobody wants to do to any great champion and announce that...
*Triple H is cut-off by the music of the Champion
Chris Masters, who comes out with a bandage around his head thanks to the steel chair shot from
Bully Ray and a sling on his left arm via the shoulder injury dished out to him by Samoe Joe. Masters is not obviously dressed to wrestle, and is in a very sharp tailored ivory elephant-trunk suit with the belt draped over his right shoulder.
The Masterpiece steps through the ropes carefully and into the ring and asks for the mike from Trips who doesn't hesitate in passing it over, showing some due respect to the champion. Masters after a few moments speaks and thanks the fans for their huge support and says that personally, he really does not like Samoa Joe one bit.
Infact his treatment of their shared mentor
Rick Bassman at Fall Brawl was absolutely disgusting!!!! But the Masterpiece says that he gives the NWA World Champion Samoa Joe all the credit in the world, he's a dangerous competitor and he won the match fair and square at Fall Brawl.
Chris shakes his head a little as if lamenting his bad damn luck with the shoulder that was originally injured prior to Fall brawl and before he even stepped in the ring. Masters says that he's felt Samoa Joe now in the ring, in a big match, and on the big stage - he's felt his power, his stregnth and his skills and he knows...HE KNOWS... that to be frank, a fully healthy Chris Masters
IS BETTER than Samoa Joe!!!
Chris promises the fans that the next time they meet the result will be ALOT different. He will come back stronger, faster and refreshed. But before all of that there will be a period of rehab that he needs to do and unfortunately, despite his own appeals on the matter... he is not medically cleared to wrestle in Windy City Pro Wrestling or anywhere else for at least 6 weeks!!!
Masters drops the mike down to the canvas with a thud and slides the Windy City Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship belt off his right shoulder and hold's it up to his face with his good right arm and hand, and there is a long pause as Masters looks hard at the belt he won almost 2 years ago on Boxing Day of 2012 when he defeated
"Strongman" Jon Anderson for the championship.
HHH coughs a little, respectfully as if to prompt Chris on what he must do.
Masters looks out at the crowd and holds out the belt to them at arms length, who are roaring at him to not give up the title! With the commentators silent throughout all of this, Masters eventually drapes the belt in the middle of the ring and leaves it there before slowly walking away to exit the ring. Masters has one last look back, as he turns around to look back at the belt laying there in the middle of the ring - and then exits through the ropes carefully and drops down from the apron to a round of applause from the fans who cheer him all the way to the back.
This leaves Triple H alone in the ring again. He picks up the mike and then the belt from the canvas and hold's it carefully, folding it up. Triple H says that Chris Masters just did unfortunately what needed to be done. What he was forced to do! The rules state that the title needs to be defended every 30 days. This wouldn't be possible and so, regrettably
Chris Masters has now officially vacated the title. Windy City does not have a Champion at the moment but that will change.
Trips orders a
Heavyweight Title Tournament to take place. A new champion will be crowned on the the next TV,
Fight Night on Thanksgiving Day of Thursday November the 27th after a 16-man Tournament will take place during the November Windy City Tour.
Triple H goes through the make-up of the Heavyweight Title Tournament...
Any NWA champions are not eligible to take part, which means John Cena and Daniel Bryan are not involved.
The Top 8 Seeds based on past exploits in Windy City, gaining automatic entry into the tournament will be;"The Only Star" Daniel Puder - former long-time Heavyweight Champion
Bully Ray - top star here in Windy City and the man who beat down the new NWA North American Champion John Cena at Fall Brawl.
"The Reflection of Perfection" Mark Jindrak - Former NWA North American Champion and a man who was a big rival to Chris Masters
Kevin Steen - Ranked in the top 5 in Windy City, a man who has been very very impressive in his stint in Chicago
Rey Mysterio - Former World Champion, has turned heads recently with his new attitude.
Gaydar members,
Dick Ryder &
Jeffery Flockhart - Current Tag Team Champions, both men gaining alot of exposure and attention in the press recently.
Bray Wyatt - Current Cyber TV Champion and leader of the Wyatt Family, a real threat.
Triple H says that the rest of the 8 entrants will earn their way in tonight! There will be 4 qualifying tonight in singles matches (a handicap match in one case). The next 4 will be decided on in the main-event in which will be a
30-Man Speed ROYAL RUMBLE match with the winner qualifying outright. To encourage action, the next 3 qualifiers will be the ones who earn the most eliminations during the Battle Royal! Trips add's that with a shot at the Heavyweight Title up for grabs he has recently been contacted by many former talents and alumni of Windy City and they will be in action in the Battle Royal tonight trying to win their shot at the big one, as in keeping with Halloween, he will rise some
Ghouls from Windy City's past, oh and people will come out every 45 seconds rather than the normal 90s, now onto the show!
1. NWA Windy City Heavyweight Title Tournament Qualifier ~ Handicap match*The commentators
Rene Young and
Paul Heyman who are dressed up in Halloween costumes (Rene as a Rogue from X-Men and Heyman as Dracula) put over that they have been informed by The Powers That Be via their ear-pieces that if Irish Airbourne win this handicap match, as they should. Only the man getting the fall would advance to the Heavyweight Title Tournament!*
KENTA def.
The Irish Airbourne (Dave & Jake Crist) to win the recent little mini-feud as with Jake sent flying through the ropes with a Busaiku Knee, he caught Dave Crist napping a little with a GTS to get the pinfall and earn a spot in the tournament. With only the winner of the fall getting the tourney spot, this did cause The Irish Airbourne to not work as fluidly as they normally do and this worked against them as KENTA picked up the big win.
2. NWA Windy City Heavyweight Title Tournament Qualifier*Prior to the next match we recap the feud between Kris Travis and Shane Hollister on the Quad Cities tour, with Hollister beating rising star Travis to avenge an earlier defeat to Kris Travis. Tonight's match will be the rubber-match*
"Shuga" Shane Hollister def
Kris Travis with the Shug Stomp (Top rope double stomp) to earn the victory after a very hard fought bout that could have gone either way. The real story was what happened post match though as Shuga Shane subjected Travis to a serious beat-down as he punished Travis with three more successive devastating Shug Drops from the top rope onto the downed Travis.
This would see the youngster have to be stretchered out of the arena as a result as the fans fell silent. Shane did not look too bothered though, as he laughed and hollered after Travis, proud of his handiwork, as Travis was pushed out of the arena.
=COMMERCIAL BREAK=*Back from the commercials and out comes everyone's favorite tramp look-a-like as Paul Heyman put it,
Daniel Bryan. Still the NWA World Jnr Heavyweight Champion. Bryan gets right to the point visibly angry and upset.
Bryan is shouting as he let's everybody know that he's angry with
AJ Styles - saying he has shown him a great disrespect by not even asking for a rematch for his NWA World Jnr Heavyweight Championship and instead for some odd reason turning his attentions towards
Chris Jericho and even
Samoa Joe.
But Bryan says that he even madder at Chris Jericho - because he would have kicked out of that Styles Clash no question about it if only he was given a chance, because prior to that lucky move from Styles he was absolutely bossing the entire match. Bryan said, if you watch the match back he smashed AJ from pillar-to-post and it was only yesterdays news Chris Jericho that cost his rightful, win over Styles, and the right to be called 'the absolute best'.
Daniel Bryan says this hasn't disheartened him though, this has only stoked the ambers in his fire even more. Now, he's telling Jericho, telling Styles, telling Joe even if he wants to get his big nose involved, that he WILL be declared the best, the absolute best....he will be declared...
ABSOLUTE!!!...You will NOT be able to compare Daniel Bryan with anybody else...
3. Cyber TV Championship Match - The Wyatt Family & Brothers CollideBray Wyatt [c] w/
Luke Harper def.
Bo Dallas with the Sister Abigail after
Jimmy Jacobs of all people showed up and handed Wyatt the win after nailing Bo Dallas with a big Spear when he was in a good position to win against his Wyatt Family leader, and brother.
Bray then followed up to take the win, taking his time before landing the Sister Abigail, delivered to his very own brother. Jimmy Jacobs got in the ring and went to square up with Bray Wyatt, a man he has battled with fiercely recently - but then he goes down on his knees before Bray, offering himself. Bray laughs manically, and grabs Jimmy Jacobs by the hair...and nails him with a Sister Abigail!
Bray hangs over the body of Jimmy Jacobs and nod's towards the bearded Luke Harper who proceeds to drags Jacobs out of the ring by his feet and back up onto his feet. Harper carries him out of the arena over his shoulder as he follows Bray out of the arena.
Bo Dallas just coming too in the ring, is alone and it looks like out of the Wyatt Family.
4. NWA Windy City Zero Gravity Championship MatchSean Waltman def.
Noam Dar [c] in 0:05 to win the Zero Gravity Championship when
Triple H came out and pedigreed Noam Dar right in front of the ref before the match even started. The Chief of Staff grabbed the mike and said that real champions like Chris Masters vacate their titles if they can't defend their championships within 30 days but Noam Dar just decided to win the belt and then avoid taking any more bookings with the company.
This has been brewing for a while now between Noam Dar and Triple H and we see quick flashes of previous warnings to Dar by Triple H. Trips then says introduce his opponent, and out comes SEAN WALTMAN. Waltman sprints down to the ring and slides in and covers Dar. The ref has no choice but to make the count and we have a new Zero Gravity Champion in Sean Waltman!
Trips smirks towards 'The Kid' and leaves as Waltman beats his chest and proudly raises the belt.
Paul Heyman on color is screaming that he told you Rene Young that Sean Waltman is a no good piece of work. He WILL DO whatever it takes to win. As you have seen tonight! "And you trust me, this isn't the only cheating he's doing let me tell you that", says Heyman.
Rogue, I mean
Rene Young, struggles to defend Sean Waltman here, but says this was nothing to do with Waltman and everything to do with Triple H and Noam Dar not showing up to defend his title. It wasn't his fault that Dar took that Pedigree but at his age, she doesn't blame him one bit for taking advantage. Heyman just mutters and says the truth will be revealed if he has anything to do with it!
5. NWA Windy City Heavyweight Title Tournament QualifierKofi Kingston def.
Doc Gallows w/
Rey Mysterio with the SOS in quite a good match actually as Doc really brought it and Kofi was in top form.
Throughout the match, Rey Mysterio was as annoying as he possibly could be to fans, to the commentators, to the ring announcer So Cal Val and to the referee as he constantly interfered in the match. In the end one of Rey's attempted sneak attacks back-fired and got Doc distracted enough to leave him wide open for an SOS from Kofi. Kofi advances to the Title Tournament AND gains some revenge over Rey and Doc after their attack upon him at the last Fight Night.
Rene Young says she can't wait for when the Hair vs Mask Match between Kofi and Rey comes around, it could even happen in the title tournament if they are drawn together!
6. NWA Windy City Heavyweight Title Tournament QualifierAdrian Neville def.
John Morrison with the Corkscrew Shooting Star Press as he beats former Windy City star John Morrison for the last available spot in the tourney, prior to the Speed Royal Rumble. This was a fantastic match, a odd botched spot here or there from Morrison as the free agent shrugged off some ring rust but an excellent performance from both men that had the fans on their feet.
Neville gets on the mike, and says he never got his planned match against
Daniel Bryan due to the pre-Fall Brawl Fight Night being moved forwards to tonight and the Title Tournament changing plans - but he will get his day in the sun with Bryan soon. But before that, he will show all the other competitors in the Heavyweight Title tournament who the real odd's on favorite is, and that's Adrian Neville!
=COMMERCIAL BREAK=We are back from the break again, and backstage we see
"The Only Star" Daniel Puder. Former Heavyweight Champion in Windy City, who held the belt for over a full year taking on all comers. Puders talks directly into the mike and says that it's a
DISGRACE that he's never received a solid shot at an NWA World or North American Title while Johnny-come-lately's like Mark Jindrak and John Cena get NWA North American Title shots without any problem. Puder says the problem is that people FEAR HIM! They fear what he would do with the platform he would receive as an NWA Champion. Puder informs us that HE is the favorite in the Heavyweight Title tournament. Puder then brings up
Ken Shamrock.
~Ken Shamrock is brought into focus in the crowd, as the Windy City trainer is in the crowd again. Shamrock is laughing at Puder.Puder scoffs towards Shamrock, and says that if that ageing has-been ever put's his hands on him like that again like he did on the last Fight Night he will knock him the fook out! Puder tells Shamrock he was insulted by the fact that old-lion Shamrock took it upon himself to put his hands on him... put his hands on Daniel Puder, ex-Heavyweight Champion for over a year and UNDEFEATED MMA fighter. Puder tells Shamrock that he's trash, that he's not undefeated in MMA like he is, that he's Tito Ortiz's bitch and that his sons Ryan and Sean are as useless at MMA as his father is now - losing to journeymen like Mike 'Who' Bourke' and acting carny-like and walking out of a fight against Ian Freeman like the pussy he is!
Puder asks Shamrock if he's a pussy, if he would fight Daniel Puder in an MMA Fight?
!!!
*Camera shows Shamrock again who is as red as hell in the face, and being held back by security and his friends. Shamrock is pointing and we can lip-read expletives coming out of his mouth but Shamrock shakes his head. Shamrock grabs a mike. Shamrock tells Puder that he's retired now and he wouldn't waste his time coming out of retirement to take on a nobody like Daniel Puder who didn't even make it past Strikeforce, and beat up-tin-cans to keep his undefeated record instead of stepping up to take on better ranked opponents. Shamrock told him to STFU and concentrate on the Heavyweight Title Tournament.*
This didn't go down well with Puder who grabbed the camera and tossed it onto the floor smashing it. Puder screamed that Shamrock hasn't seen the last of him.

31.
Drew McIntryeThe match started off with
"Mr.Media" himself,
Cliff Compton. Former star here in Windy City and now over in Ohio in OVW. He was joined in the ring in a real shocker by
"STRONGMAN" JON ANDERSON - former Heavyweight Champion who defeated Daniel Puder before losing to Chris Masters.
The two squared off and went back and forth, but this being a Speed Rumble they where quickly joined in the ring by
Crash Test Dummy, a dazed and bemused still
Bo Dallas and
Nasty Boy Saggs. Crash, Dallas and Saggs was quickly dispatched by Anderson and Compton, before they was joined by Mexican sensation
Mistico. The next section of the Speed Rumble saw all three members of
The Nexus enter in quick succession, a bit of a suspicious draw me thinks! They joined forces and got rid of people as Anderson and Compton survived through. We then saw a clash between former rivals as The Nexus and
The Hooligan Squad of Mastiff and Stone went at it. Next, we saw the entrants of alumni like
Claudio Castagnoli, the legend that is
2 Cold Scorpio,
Dave Rayne! and
American Kickboxer 2.
As
Hakushi came down to the ring, the survivors so far was
Cliff Compton,
Mistico who had shockingly eliminated
Jon Anderson just prior who had racked up 5 eliminations and
Heath Slater. All three men was entangled in the corner turnbuckle trying to push each other when Hakushi came storming into the ring and did his springboard back elbow move into the trio which send all three flying to the outside, but in trying to knock three men out Hakushi over-rotated the move and the momentum took him over and out of the ring as well!
Just then, the buzzer sounded with 45 seconds gone and out came
Drew McIntrye, accompanied by
"Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Drew runs down and slides into the empty ring. The referee's don't know what to do, but they realise Drew was the last man left, and was the winner of the Speed Royal Rumble, even before he came out to the ring as everybody else was eliminated!
So Cal Val announcers that the winner, and going into the Heavyweight Title Tournament,
Drew McIntrye! Roddy Piper cackles and slaps Drew's back, they can't believe their good luck!
So Cal Val then announces that the next 3 qualifiers, via the most eliminations are;
"Strongman" Jon Anderson [5]
Mistico [4]
Heath Slater [4]
Winner: Drew McIntrye*The camera cut's to the back,
Triple H congratulates all the qualifiers and announces the 16 Men that will make up the
Heavyweight Title Tournament that will take place throughout the November Windy City tour.
